Rahne smiled a wide, beaming grin as the first of her people came out to greet her, her tail eagerly wagging from side to side.
"Why not happy?" she asked as she bounded over to Tommy and hugged him tightly. She had learned that while if she were a dog or a wolf, the tongue would be appropriate, but since she wasn't, this was the best way to show affection. "It's a good good morning!"

As Ruby's door opened up, Rahne's head snapped around, her attention span as short as one would expect of a dog, and she bounded over towards his door to give him his morning greeting as well.

"Good morn-" she halted suddenly as he shouted, flinching at the force of his words. She was moving quickly once she hit on the sudden stop, and as such, she tripped over her own feet and fell to the floor in a heap. She kicked her legs a bit to get back to a standing position, brushing off the clumsy fall as if it hadn't happened, and looked back and forth between Blur and Ruby, confused as to why they both seemed upset. It was morning, it was time to get up for the day, right? That was how it was supposed to go.

[size0]Say the dog and butterfly,
in the air they like to fly.
Dog and butterfly.
She knew she had to try,
and she float back down to the warm soft ground,
laughing - she don't know why,
but she had to try, she had to try.
Dog and Buttefly.

Lorelei sat in the darkness of the living area of the penthouse. The sun was still just touching the horizon outside and the deep purple sky outside still kept the room dark. The kitchen light was on, making comforting shadows swirl around in the room, hiding the blue skinned mutant perfectly. She had come just a few hours ago and chose to sit out in the living room, not wanting to wake Ruby or the others with the news of her recent mission. She sat alone with her thoughts.

Then Rahne woke up. Scott's little lap dog. Lorelei, in all honesty, only tolerated the dog. She was annoying, perky, spoke broken english, and if it rained outside she smelled nasty. Lorelei looked up and watched from the darkness as the dog moved around the house, yelling for people to wake up. Perhaps it was because Raven's scent was already in the house, but the dog girl didn't seem to notice her quite yet. Or maybe it was because she was consumed with her little chore of waking everyone up. At 7 AM no less. Lorelei shook her head. This was one of the reasons she didn't mind going out and being alone.

Blur seemed to be up already. He was greeted by the dog. She almost expected him to scratch her behind the ears, but Ruby's voice caused the dog to turn and sprint towards her master. Lorelei smiled as Ruby yelled at them and she could hear the dog scramble around in a panic. Stupid thing.

Lorelei stood and walked out of the shadows of the living room and moved to the hallway. They were a regular family, huh? Yea right. Stepping into view behind Rahne, she looked to Ruby and smiled, her pearly whites a strong contrast against her blue skin and pink lips. Yellow eyes moving to the dog, her smile faded slightly.

"If you continue to wake us up like this, I'm going to have to get you spaded," Lorelei said, her voice sounding neither cruel or kind. She then looked to Blur as she moved down the hallway towards Ruby, motioning with her lips in a kissing motion as she passed the young man. Giving him no other greeting other than that, she walked up to Ruby. As she moved closer to his door, her form shifted into a blonde woman with glasses. The woman was wearing a business suit and a skirt. It was rather modest, but it was very obvious that she had many assets hidden underneath. Raven stopped just outside Ruby's doorway and smiled. "You're looking at the newest aide to the Senator, baby."

Early to bed and early to rise. It was a habit that Beta had picked up on the farm. If you didn’t get up early on the farm and get to work, you didn’t finish all the day’s work. If you didn’t finish all of the day’s work, you didn’t have any food. Even with an army of clones, somewhat obnoxious and mischievous clones, it took a lot of coordination to get the chores done around the farm. So, it was a habit that Beta tried to keep going even after he had moved to the city and started on his criminal career path. A lot of the times he would like to start the day off with some exercise.

Beta had been up for about half an hour. He’d jogged discreetly through the streets. His blue hoodie was pulled up over his head and the mutant’s headphones were placed snuggly in his ears. He’d found a new death metal band from Finland or Iceland or Sweden or where the fuck ever that he liked a lot and was listening to the album. It made for good work out music. Growing up, James wasn’t much of a guy to work out but when his clones started impersonating Ruby to help spread the prestige and mystery he needed to bulk up. After he had started, Beta liked the small escape working out alone was able to give him.

After his jog, Beta swung by a small coffee shop. Her name was Maizy and Beta liked to sweet talk to her on the mornings that she opened the shop. She knew that he trolled around with one of the gangs, not which one though, and tried to impress him. Maizy would sometimes give him free coffees or free bagels. This was a charity that Beta was more than willing to take advantage of as often as possible.

James entered the penthouse suite a little while later. His face was pink from the cold and from the jog. Death metal was blaring from his headphones. He walked to the bar and set down a small tray of coffees and a bag of fresh bagels. He pulled one earbud free and let it dangle. “Breakfast is served,” he said as he took a bite of the soft bagel.

The others were getting up and getting ready. Business was going down. Ruby’s plans were coming together. They always worked out. Ruby always had the best strategy.

Punches from the Punch Dimension
Rahne's scramble and confusion might've made Ruby feel a twinge of guilt, if it wasn't fucking dawn, and he wasn't in a bitch of a mood. His leg hurt, his head hurt from too much to drink the night before, and the thump thump thump of his powers cycling from his eyes, to the protection of his glasses, back into his skull was not helping, dammit. These fucking kids didn't get the idea that he was the boss around here sometimes, and did whatever the hell they wanted when they wanted. But as he opened his mouth to yell at them again, Lorelei was there, strolling down the hallway and asserting her particular sense of control over the situation. She shifted as she went, her mutant beauty fading into pleasant but conventional human prettiness as she revealed that she'd succeeded in her mission.

"You're looking at the newest aide to the Senator, baby." she purred, as she slipped up to him, pausing just outside the door frame he currently occupied.

Ruby smiled and said, "Of course, I am. Anyone has the skill to get past the genetic screenings that those monkeys are putting into place, it's my girl." He slipped his hand around her waist and pulled her close, "Should I ask what happened to the original owner of this face, or do I already know?" He brought his lips to hers, whispering, "I missed you, Raven. I'm never a pleasant man to be around when I have to sleep alone."

Beta entered at that point, a bag from the bagel shop in his hands. He held it up, announcing he'd brought enough for breakfast, and Ruby made a shooing motion to the kids. "Good, go, go eat. And, keep the commotion to a dull roar, you got me? Papa doesn't want to have to come back out here before he's through welcoming Mama back home." He pulled Lorelei into the room and said, "I want to hear everything. That bastard Kelly's anti-mutant garbage is going to make life hard on us, so we got to make things worse on him." He brought his hand around to the small of her back, "Let's make things better on me though first."

He slammed the door and clicked the lock.

Let the kids fend for themselves for a while.

If he had to be awake this early in the morning, might as well make the most of it, hmm?

Blur flinched as Ruby's profanity riddled rant shot through the hallway. He probably would've bristled if he hadn't been half expecting it. It was always the same, the chipper little mutt would always piss him off, all hopped up and furry, and lead to some stupid altercation, always in the morning. It seemed the wolf girl had just as much trouble sleeping as he did. It would of been cute if it wasn't so annoying.

"Don't lose your shit Papa Walton. We'll keep it down." Blur had become accustomed to the raw and rough language that peppered the back and forth interaction present whenever with Ruby and his gang, even so much as taking part in them. Though he would never admit it, Tommy found comfort in the little annoyances that everyday life brought. There was a sort of distorted family dynamic present that, over the past year, had somehow managed to fill the void gnawing away at him.

"You smell like ass," he said to the girl, half jokingly , as she released him and ran to her master, as he knew she would. From the corner of his eye, Blur saw Lorelei emerge from the shadows. If there was one person who was exempt from the family dynamic that existed within the boy's mind it was here. He turned to watch her, perfect as a sonnet, as she made her way to the others. She puckered her lips at the boy and the only cohesive thought he could have was the sudden urge to part those lips with his tongue. She knew the way he felt about her, she must have. It must have been obvious to anyone with a working brain stem that he had loved her for the majority of the year he had spent there. Her body shook in all the right places as she made her way to Ruby, and Blur wondered if the woman was moving in such a way just to toy with him. He averted his eyes quickly, hoping no one would notice the intensity of his gaze or the tiny amount of drool that had collected at the corner of his lips. Her figure changed as she made her way to her lover, and the speedster remembered how Ruby liked for her to become different people during aspects of their sex life. The boy wasn't sure if the pair knew he was aware of that, but the walls were thin and he had been guilty of sometimes lingering a bit too long outside of the pairs bedroom door.

Beta came walking in, holding bagels in a bag. Good, like always, Blur was starving, but that took a backseat to the duo in front of him. He felt a bit of perverted pain go through him as the two embraced, taking no measures to hide their excitement in being in each other's company again. They talked about business, though her words were laced in sex. To Blur everything she did seemed laced in sex. Ruby shot out another warning to the two as he entered his room, Lorelei following him, making obvious exactly what they would be doing. This time the boy had no retort. He simply watched in silence as their door shut and he heard the latch turn. How about that, he thought, Ruby made him bristle after all.

"Don't tell me you forgot the peanut butter again," he said, a bit more harshly than would make sense, as he made to the man. He snatched a bagel up and broke it open, taking a huge bite.

The back of Rahne's neck bristled as Lorelei came in, making her none-too veiled threat. The young wolf girl was very aware of the way people felt, very in touch with her canine empathy, and she was all too willing to return feelings.

She bared her fangs and snarled at the shape changer, not entirely understanding what "spaded" was (hit by a shovel?), but understanding the basic gist of it.

"I was only doing my job," she sulked, her mood perfectly telegraphed by her entire body - her posture, her face, the tone of her voice. Every single facet of her gave away just how very upset this was making her. "Bad people come when you sleep too much."

At least that's how it was in her experience. They always wait until you sleep, whether it's villagers with pitchforks and torches or those bad men with guns who locked her up.

She glanced over at Beta as he came in with a bag of food. She would be hungry normally, but at this moment, she was not up for eating. She cast one last glance at Ruby and his kept whore and began heading down the hallway in the opposite direction.
