Timeline: TBD, Year 2007
Place: Office of Alex Summers

The last child she had to find was incredibly slippery, almost literally. She was fairly certain he was made of slime of some sort, but had either complete control or was severely limited in how far he could go with his sliminess. Sadly, the codename of 'Slimeball' just made matters worse.

She had dropped him off at the location that was predetermined for the boy's safe travel to Jus Soli, already being told that the paperwork was all set. If it was not, that was not her problem any longer.

And neither was Slimeball.

As she opened the door to his office, she wiped some of the lime green goop off of her shoulder. There was still some all over the place, but she figured she would at least get to shower before going out to find the next child.

"Mr. Summers," she said, voice filled with irritation as she wiped off the slime from her pant leg, "Mr. Tordis is well on his way, and the police are none the wiser to their 'strange slime infestation.' I, however, might be in need of a new outfit. I think this stuff stains."

Her displeasure was clear in both expression and voice, as her statement was proven by the deep green blotches that were in her clothing.

"I hope our next potential charge is not this... high maintenance..."

She let a discontented snort escape her lips. The sound was incredibly ugly, but she could not help it. Her nose even wrinkled itself.

Annoyed was far from what she was feeling.

"Or do we get a reprieve?" she continued, "The idea of having to save all these children is great, don't get me wrong... but if they're going to be slimy, then I should at least be more prepared..."

She finally let a smile pass over her lips.

"He was rather adorable, though... Mr. Tordis... after he realized his 'assailant' was not the 'hideous policemen' that were after him..."

At twenty-four, most people were just barely figuring out what they wanted to do, graduating college, hooking up with a girl. Alex "Inferno' Summers was saving his people. He was a self righteous jerk, he knew that, a bit of a workaholic, a friendly guy but not one who socialized a lot because frankly, he simply didn't have time. On average, seven to ten new teenagers manifested mutant abilities a month. Three to five obvious mutant babies were born in that same time. Two to four adult mutants were discovered. That hardly seemed like a lot to deal with.

It definitely was.

Each developing mutant, by the new laws that governed the x-factor negative countries, was given a two week amnesty, in which time they were required to submit immigration papers. The physically mutated or those who rated low on a SHIELD decreed scale of danger were allowed to remain at home until Jus Soli processed their paper work. They were classified 'Green Cases.' Those with more worrisome but only mid level power sets were 'Yellow Cases,' and they were sent to specially organized safe zones until they were processed. 'Red Cases' where those who were a major threat to themselves and others and needed immediate transfer to facilities within JS were specialists would help them gain control of their new powers.

Alex Summers saw every file that came through, though he only personally handled those in confinement at the time of their evolution... or those who fled when their powers came in.

Those latter ones were where his staff came in. Including Tandy Bowen, otherwise known as Dagger. She came in, covered in slime and complaining, and Alex smirked. "Troubles, Officer Dagger?" he laughed. Technically there was no real title attached to her position, but he liked to call his staff something more than 'Hey you' It did wonders for the morale. "Throw some newspapers down on the chair and take a seat. I want to hear all about our newest resident."

If Alex Summers was not paying her to do her job, and do her job well, she would have lunged over the desk right there and then to just strangle that smirk and the rest of that life right out of him. And, if she were a different person, it would have been a much more violent act. However, she was Tandy Bowen, and he was Alex Summers. He paid her to make sure she did her job, and not kill the mutant children she was always sent out to obtain, even the slightly more disgusting mutants.

She plopped down in the chair, after putting down what looked to be a formerly completely white towel. It was only white on one side, the other side instead adopting a deep green hue. Tandy had brought the object with her, to make sure that she was not going to get green goo everywhere. That was not something she wanted taken off her paycheck.

"Well, at first... Mr. Tordis was rather adamant on not having a talk with me. Fortunately for both myself and Mr. Tordis's ability to see what's behind him... quite literally... he realized that I was a 'Shining Angel' coming to 'Deliver Him to Salvation.' You know, sometimes i wonder what it is about some of these children... who teaches them in school these days?"

It was an incredibly conversational way to go about telling Alex 'all' about their recent charge, but that was how Tandy worked; conversationally.

"I think the Catholic school he was involved in was rather harsh on the lessons... I think there were Bible quotes he was spouting at me... and there was a lot of praying... I remember the praying..."

She sighed.

"As for his abilities, he seems to have manifested a distinctive knowledge of how to swivel his eyes so that they're looking behind his head... and he is a big, green blob. I felt bad for him when I realized that I was looking at a pair of eyes and a nervous system trapped in there... no muscles, no skeleton. I think he was just barely getting used to himself as well... he was having a hard time moving..."

Leaning to one side, she raised her brow at the man in front of her.

"But he made it safely on the boat... I think I might have gotten told off by the local police that I shouldn't be 'abducting children,' but, of course, they weren't going to take him themselves... he would have just slimed his way out of the prison... You might get a call about that within the next hour or so..."

There was a sly grin on her lips at this mention.

"Mr. Summers, the children are getting quite slippery lately... We might have to up our numbers... I can't always do this alone..."

Inferno smirked at the young woman's irritability and arrogance. If she thought the tough act was impressing him, it wasn't simply because he'd spent every summer and holiday of his youth with his criminal brother and Ruby's growing band of malcontents who had seemed to enjoy trying to one up him, clearly seeing him as not only competition for their boss's limited affections, but as time went on more and more they realized he was gravitating towards the side of law and order. Alex had gone quickly from the boss's somewhat annoying kid brother, to a possible danger to their fragile seat of power. They thought by showing him their teeth they were protecting Ruby, and maybe only Lorelei was aware enough to know that Ruby had put Alex's feet on this path himself.

Alex, for his part, never showed a sign that he recognized these displays of aggression, knowing it was too easy to fall into it, too easy to counter it with an attack of his own. Like his brother, Inferno Summers was way too powerful to lose control randomly.

He wasn't twenty five yet, and he had one of the most politically important jobs in all of the new order of the world. He didn't get there by blowing up when tired and frustrated agents gave him lip and attitude. Besides, Tandy Bowen was a pretty girl, and admittedly, the scholar turned soldier turned ambassador had almost no experience with the opposite sex whatsoever. So, he might have been a little more tolerant with her than he should've been otherwise...

...not that he would ever let on to the fact.

He slid a file over to her, lamenting that it was a computer file and was probably going to slime up the equipment. Magnus had insisted on getting technology running first, newest and fastest. Jus Soli was in a very fragile position, and its leader was not going to let it remain a third world country, not with the level of power the populace was capable of. He was making their standard of living far above their former homelands... so that no one thought of the fact that they were expatriates, that they were exiles.

"The Telepaths are picking up a kid here, new mutant. Not getting energy readings or psiwaves, but they're damn sure this kids one of us and in hostile territory. I need someone with me who I can trust to have my back on this one, Dagger. This kid's someone that the Thunderbolts would like to 'recruit' according to my intel, and that either means he's a psycho or they're going to turn him into one. Either way, we need to stop it from happening. I don't know about you, but that bitch Marvel's obsession with putting my brother behind bars isn't the only thing about her that I'm getting pretty damn sick of, you know."

He glanced at his watch, specially made to withstand the extreme temperatures he was capable of producing, and said, "I figure it'll take me about half an hour to get flight clearance through SHIELD. You think you can shower and get fresh gear in that time, meet me in the hangar. You do a good job, and maybe I'll get you that assistant you keep hinting around for."

Tandy's eyes lit up at the thought of another child in need of her assistance. Not only that, but it showed some danger as well. Havok would probably notice the twitching right eye as he mentioned the name 'Marvel.' It was quite clear that, though Tandy might have met the woman only in a fleeting 'run the hell away' moment, his agent had no intention of ever having tea and biscuits with her voluntarily. As a matter of fact, if the thought ever came up, she would stab herself silly with her own daggers until it worked, and then slowly drain her own life force into the person nearest her, dying peacefully knowing that she was never manipulated into having a pleasant conversation with a complete psycho.

She felt good about this one though; anything to rip a potential psycho from Marvel just made Tandy giggle lots inside.

"Half an hour? I can make it fifteen minutes if that bitch is involved," Tandy said, pulling the tough girl act through the conversation. It made no sense to keep up the appearance if she was not going to carry on with it, and she was a tough girl. She could totally be a tough girl for hours and not have to rest, especially if the situation called for it. Which, it most certainly did.

Now, of course, she had no clue what kind of child this was, and she wanted to know. Her accessories needed to make sense, just in case she had to go after someone who had slime attached to them, or something like that.

And her shoes. What if she wore high heels to the sewers? Ugh, she did not want to think about that. Hopefully her all-purpose, white combat boots worked for... well, all purposes. Which made complete sense to her...

"Where are we going, and who's the mutant?" she asked. She was not going to let on to Alex that she wanted to dress appropriately for this, though he could probably guess from working alongside her for so long.

A small smile danced across her lips.

"Oh, an assistant? How sweet of you. I do so need one of those to keep the target occupied while I pull myself out of whatever muck I'm adventuring around in."
