Jimmy listened to what the red head kid had to say. It was true. Perhaps there was another explanation for the attack on the ships and the creature that rescued him. Alister suggested that maybe he could lead the hunting party away. Jimmy didn’t know what his power was but a diversion could help them out. At the comment about the flag saying the party had been duped was enough to cause Jimmy to chuckle. “I understand ya. Talking to a big aquatic thing to learn what it wants is going to be difficult but all I can suggest is to try talking to it or communication with some sounds, like, I don’t know, whale songs. Mainly, I think we need to protect it from the other search party. They want to kill it. I just don’t think it should die until we find out what is really going on,” he explained.

Jamie Prime listened intently. Jimmy was making a lot of decision. He was practically leading this team. The dupe was telling everything like it was and was calm and collected. Jamie wanted to be like that. That was what he sent his dupes out to accomplish. When Jamie absorbed the dupe at the end of the mission, he was looking forward to gaining all of that self confidence and assuredness. Madrox felt that was what was missing from his life. He enjoyed being a clown and making people laugh but deep down he knew that he needed to grow up. Jimmy was going to be the man Madrox would become.

About two hours later, the SHIELD and X-Factor crew were standing in the cabin of a smaller ship named the Cimarron. The ship’s captain, Captain Mac, was steering the vessel along the course that Jimmy had plotted. Jimmy had also outfitted them with some warmer seafaring gear if any of the crew had so desired. Jamie was thankful for it, but he was slightly jealous that his clone was even more forthcoming with his generosity and didn’t seem like he was feigning the sentiment. “We’re almost to our destination, friends,” Captain Mac said. “I’ve known Jimmy for a good while now and he’s a great guy. He trusted me enough to reveal, you know, that he was mutant. I was happy to help. You never know when your grandkid is going to be a mutant, right?”

Jamie felt a little disheartened because Jimmy was such a hit with people. The X-Factor member should have realized that he and Jimmy were the same. He had the same qualities. “Yeah, we really appreciate it, Mac. You’re helping us out so if you ever need anything let us know,” Madrox explained.

“I just hope to make it through this alive, sonny,” Mac said. “Speaking of which. The radar is showing something under the water up ahead. It’s a shallow depth.”

Up ahead through the glass of the wheelhouse, Jamie could see a shadow beneath the water. It was moving at a speed close to that of the Cimarron. It could have been some whales. Jamie slightly hoped that was the case when a spout of water sprayed upward. The shadow grew darker as it rose and eventually it turned to white. The creature’s white fur was visible. It had a long black horn out of the front of its face. The flippers were huge. The beast was roughly seal shaped but it was simply too big and covered in white fur like a polar bear. The crazy thing was like a hodge-podge of creatures. Madrox had never seen anything like it.

There was another jet of water from the creature’s spout. Madrox grabbed the microphone for the PA and called out, “Hi there! My name is Jamie. We want to help you!”

That is when the creature attacked.

Shiro thought the situation over as it was explained. There seemed to be only one creature, at least as far as this clone's eyewitness account attested to. But then why would it both attack these fishermen and then rescue them? Or did it attack the fishermen? Was it merely confused, lashing out at the boat without realizing that it was putting people in danger?

"I swear to you on my honor," Sunfire stated as Jimmy made it clear that it was important that the creature be brought in alive, "that I will do all in my power to keep it from being slain."

He would, however, do what he felt he had to. If it came down to the creature's life or those of people, he would easily choose to take the creature's life. Human life always took precedence, and if that meant the death of this creature, then so be it.

***

Shiro stayed on the boat for the ride out, watching the horizon, keeping an eye out for both this creature and this other party that supposedly wanted to kill it.

A sea creature. How preposterous. It was assuredly something else, Shiro had decided. A mechanical construct, perhaps. A shape shifting mutant?

But there it was - the creature, as was described. Like something out of a 1950s B movie, at once ridiculous and dangerous looking, though this one had no semblance of artificiality. It looked exactly like what it seemed to be, and unless it was a very elaborate hoax, it was quite real.

Madrox tried to speak with it, but upon the noise, it attacked the boat, surprisingly enough by pushing a wall of water at it, a wall so huge that it could easily capsize the vessel. Sunfire would simply not allow that to happen.

He clenched his fists tightly and with a flash of heat, evaporated the water before it got to the boat, causing a cloud of steam to rise up in front of them.

He took to the air in front of the boat, flying into the cloud of steam to draw the heat into himself and prevent any of his allies in this excursion from being burned or scalded by it.

"Quickly!" he called back, "Somebody draw it out of the water!"

Jet gladly took the gear Jimmy offered. All through the boat ride out the blonde kept an eye out and asking all sorts of questions, about Jimmy, sharks, dangers, the specifics of what he does for a living. When Mac told them they were close it seemed that everything happened quickly just as he said that. He told the group there was something on the radar and a dark shadow in the water moved toward them.

It surfaced enough for them to see the white fur. Jamie went on the PA and called out to the creature. The boat was hit with ferocity; Mac and Jet held on to something keep their footing. Shiro, one of the SHEILD agents, evaporated the water that splashed from the attack. Shiro called out an order to draw the creature out, but it hadn’t attacked a second time. “No! We can’t draw it out of the water, taking that creature out of its environment could freak it out. Or kill it.”

Approaching the side she saw the dark shadow of the creature. They were not going to fight it. That wasn’t the reason they came out to Alaska. Backing any animal into a corner is a guaranteed fight. Turning back to Jamie she spoke softly, “Jamie… try again. Tell it we aren’t going to hurt it. If it understands… It’s worth the shot.” Looking back up to Sunfire she spoke calmly, “Power down. Trust begets trust.”

Jamie held the microphone to his mouth as he called out the creature. Then to his horror the monster attacked. It sent a wall of water rising toward the ship. Captain Mac let out a string of swears and braced himself against the helm. The wave didn’t crash against the ship to capsize it in the middle of the Behring Strait. Agent Sunfire used his powers to ionize and vaporize the wave before it reached them. The air in their immediate vicinity grew instantly humid and incredibly hot but there was no doubt it would dissipate quickly. Jamie stomped his foot to produce a duplicate. “Clean the steam off the glass! We need to see!” he ordered.

The clone ran forward and wiped the condensation away with his palms and then using his sleeves to soak it up. Sunfire was outside the boat. He called for them to coax the beast out of the water but Jet was urging Jamie to just talk to it. Get the monster to trust them and then it would be okay. The silver mutant said that trust led to more trust. Madrox slammed his fist on the panel and made another clone. He ordered his two spawn to go out on the deck and see what they could do to help.

Madrox picked the microphone for the PA back up. “We don’t want to hurt you! Please just listen. We want to help you in fact! There are other boats coming. We won’t attack you,” Madrox called out.

“Eloquent son of a bitch, huh?” Mac grimaced.

Jamie didn’t listen to the Captain’s snarky remark. He gasped as the creature curved around in the sea and came bearing down on the boat. Jamie slapped the captain on the arm, producing another clone, and said, “We need to turn this around!”

Captain Mac groaned as he tried to turn the boat. The white furred creature was on a collision course when it lowered its narwhal-like horn. The horn glowed a bright white and suddenly the water erupted in front of it. The water shot into a narrow rooster-tail that raced toward the ship. The jet of water hit the boat directly in the front. Suddenly, with a crackle the water around the boat began to freeze. Ice grew from where the jet hit the metal and spider webbed outward. The creature veered away from its collision course as the boat began to become encased in the ice.

Mac swore again and pointed toward the gauges. “The engine, she can’t take it. It’s going to overheat. I have to cut the power if we don’t do something,” he said.

“Please stop! Don’t attack us!” Madrox yelled through the speaker.

Jamie didn’t see it but one of his dupes was trying to fight off the growing frost that had crept up the hull and onto the deck. He was using an oar to try and scrape the frost away. When the frost grew up the oar toward his hands he dropped the oar in surprise and stumbled backwards. Unfortunately, this led him to fall off the ship and land onto the new ice field around the boat. Quickly, the clone was encased in ice himself. Jamie didn’t see it but he felt it through the connection he felt with the clones. The frost stopped spread across the hull, but if another blast came, it could freeze the ship.

“Something’s wrong,” Jamie grimaced as he looked through the windshield. “Where is the other dupe?”

I've decided that because WWX is going to be starting soon and there's other stuff going on that I'm not going to have Rogue leave the BH until WWX is over. I actually have a bit of a plan for it now...unless the Sanctuary stuff is going to be starting before WWX then I'll come up with something. Either way though, if anyone wants to thread with Rogue and/or Anna Marie let me know. ^^

"Yes, by all means!" Sunfire called back as the creature reared up for its second salvo of attacks. He did not, as Silverlight requested, power down, nor did he touch back down on the boat. Enveloped in a cloak of heat and visible flame, Sunfire watched the creature carefully. "Continue to engage it in meaningless coversation as it attempts to kill us all!"

There were times for diplomacy and there were times for action. When a gigantic sea monster was trying to kill you, odds are fairly good that diplomacy is not the correct course of action.

The creature, though, kept its attentions on the boat, firing a stream of sub-zero water that began freezing immediately. If Shiro did not act and act immediately, his allies in this endeavor would freeze to death.

Turning around sharply, Sunfire streaked towards the boat, heating the air around him and the boat to melt the ice before the metal was weakened by the freezing. He did not spare a moment for the boat's passengers though, as he flew back out at the creature and flung some low-level fire balls at it, more an attack of light and mild heat than an actual attempt to cause harm. He wanted the beast's attention, and he would get it. As of now, his goal was simply to lure it away from the boat, away from the people it was mercilessly assaulting, and to keep its attention on him.

JP BETWEEN JET AND JAMIE

Things went from bad to worse, the creature wasn't listening and neither was Sunfire. Jet tried hard to keep her footing and at that point, between Sunfire's disregard for following her instructions and the creature threatening to capsize them, the blonde had enough. She opened the door to head outside of the encased glass and saw a bulky mass of ice, inside holding a frozen dupe of Jamie's'.

“Oh Jamie...” She had no idea how he took to his dupes dying. He had never told, at least to her, how he felt or reacted when they died, but each time it had happened it broke her heart for her friend and team mate.

Finding there was a reason Sunfire wasn't listening to her. It aggravated her to admit he was right but, “Jamie, the creature's freezing the boat over. Sunfire stopped it... I hope. If we can't reason with it...” It pained her to say the next few words, “We'll have to fight it... and abandon ship.”

Of the group, Sunfire would burn anyone he carried. Jet was the only one to carry the Capitan and Jamie. She would refuse to leave either one behind. A small knock of the boat helped the blonde loose her footing. Falling forward and landing on her elbow she skidded towards the edge.

The boat had begun to freeze over but it had miraculously stopped.  Sunfire had thawed the boat out and saved them.  Now the boat was moving forward again albeit slowly.  There were too many options going through Jamie’s mind.  Sunfire was ready to kill the creature and Jet wanted to save it.  They both made sense in a way.  If the sea beast was going to keep attacking they couldn’t just let themselves get killed.  Madrox wasn’t really sure what to do.

There was a bump in the ship and Jet was sent flying and skidding across the deck.  Madrox wobbled on his feet and ran forward and sprang into a skid on his hip as if he was sliding into third base.  He grabbed her before she could slide toward the rail and fall underneath it.  Though, it might not have been that bad, she could fly after all, but she needed some help and Jamie was there to help out.

“Ack!” Looking back behind her as she had felt a hand grab her she saw Jamie and smiled, “Thanks, babe.” Using her hands to push herself backwards from the edge taking a deep breath. She still wanted to show the creature good faith by not using her powers. Although if she was close to falling in the drink she would have to in order not to fall in the water.

Taking a deep breath she slowly stood up and realized the arm and elbow she landed on hurt pretty bad. But it wasn't something she could shrug off at the moment. “Careful...” Jet said as she held on to Jamie to help one another keep their balance. Activity from the creature was quiet in a most eerie way.

Jamie helped Jet stabilize herself.  They both needed to work on getting their sea legs and in the middle of an attack was a poor time to practice.  Sunfire had let loose with a few attacks.  They weren’t killing blows and just appeared to be low-level bursts of his powers.  The beast seemed to be stopping its attack, at least momentarily.  The creature swam away and went toward a large skiff of ice.  It crawled from the water and growled at them.  Strangely, it didn’t seem very menacing.

There was commotion behind Jamie as his clone ran over to the rail and looked down. “Man overboard!” the dupe yelped.  Madrox looked over to see that one of his clones had fallen in during the attack.  The multiplying mutant created another two dupes to aid in the rescue effort and then to Jet he said, “What do you think is going on over there?  It stopped attacking us.”

Directing her attention to the fallen dupe and the other dupes helping him out she wondered if flying over and plucking the dupe out of the water would be easier. Looking to where Jamie's site was directed at she spoke, “I honestly couldn't tell you Jamie. It looks... I don't know. But I don't feel it wants to kill us. Coulda done that in seconds. But, I don't know. It just seemed like, maybe it was giving us a warning.”

Looking up at Sunfire Jet spoke, “Sunfire... if you don't power down, I'll come up there and make you power down.” She did not have the actual mutant power to back up her threat, but she had the attitude. Especially towards SHIELD.

Jamie understood Jet’s resentment toward SHIELD but judging by Sunfire’s personality, he didn’t think that yelling threats at him would help very much.  Jamie vaguely pondered making a joke about wishing he had a dupe that could communicate with monsters but that wouldn’t help either.  Suddenly, from behind a small iceberg a boat emerged.  Jamie was afraid at first that it was the other fishermen coming to kill the beast.  Then he realized the boat was too small and that there was a woman on the bow that looked nothing at all like a crazed fisherman.  She was waving her arms frantically over her head.  The woman’s boat positioned itself between the monster on the ice float and the ship the mutants had taken.  She put a bullhorn to her lips and cried out, “Please stop!  Stop!  This is my daughter!”

Jet's eyes widened, “Daughter? Daughter... that woman said daughter. That woman said the creature was her daughter.” Good thing the woman on the little boat couldn't hear the blonde, she was more or less shocked and surprise by that new information. She paused only to mutter in a low tone, “Daughter...” She shook her head and looked back up to Sunfire and said in a sort of 'I told you so' tone, “Now will you power down?”

Sunfire looked on at the creature with some smug satisfaction as it crawled onto an ice flow. He folded his arms at his chest and and glowered down at it.

"I do not care if you do not understand the words I speak. I will not allow you to harm anyone anymore," he announced, hovering in place between the creature and the boat.

Unlike his American comrades, he did not see the creature's behavior as heroic. One does not imperil life and then save it and earn a hero's reward. That is not how it works, not in Shiro Yoshida's mind.

He canted his head back slightly as they called out to him, threatened him to power down.

"Really?" he called back. "The way I see it, I am all that stands between you and your deaths! This thing has already killed one of you, and I will not allow it to kill anyone else!"

He turned his attention away for but a moment as a new voice called out - a woman's, claiming the creature as her daughter.

"So... you are of human origin. Then you will heed my warning. You will cease your assaults on these boats immediately. You have not even begun to feel my wrath, and I swear to you, one more attack, one more death on your hands, and you will have to answer to me."

His weak-willed American allies would not appreciate this, they would not see that he was saving their lives. He was not harming the creature, but he wasn't trying to befriend it either.

JP BETWEEN JET AND SHIRO

He still wasn't listening! Glaring up at him she had enough, the creature was someone's daughter and his pig-headed-ego-filled-brain refused to listen to her. Glowing brightly she flew out to face off Sunfire in between his line of sight which was directed at the creature she spoke, “I told you to stand down. Or do you have a problem following orders?”

"Silence, woman!" Sunfire growled, canting his head barely to the right to acknowledge her.  "I am resolving this without harming the creature, as was requested of us.  And under whose authority do you give me orders?"

He did not just call her woman. “I'm sorry who was it that was called out to help in the first place?” Moving her head to block his view again she continued, “X-Factor. Not SHIELD. You guys came along for the ride and at the beginning of this whole thing I told you who was in charge. X-Factor. Me and Jamie. Not you, or Hodge, or any other SHIELD agent that came out here.” She let her silver glow get a little bit brighter, SHIELD was plenty intimidating, but right then they were only pissing her off more. And that was saying a lot for someone like Jet. “And don't call me 'woman', I have a proper name... or codename if that's all you 'blast first, ask questions later' agents know in life.”

"You are getting on my nerves," Shiro sighed, returning his attentions to the creature.  "Did you honestly ask for SHIELD accompaniment so that I could sit on that little boat and do nothing while you attempted to negotiate this creature into allowing us to live?  Were it not for my actions, that entire boat would be encapsulated in ice and you would all be dead.  I would expect a small bit of gratitude."

“You've been on my nerves. And if it's gratitude you want, you can have it when you power down and listen to instructions. I could draw you a picture if telling you, for the um-teenth time, is too complicated to get through your thick skull. This is a peaceful confrontation first and foremost. Now I know 'peaceful' is a difficult concept for you SHEILD guys but while your here with X-Factor we'd appreciate a little co-operation.”

"Very well, then," Shiro muttered.  "Deal with it your way.  I will not have my time wasted any further."

And then he flew away from the creature, making one more bank around the boat to make sure that the ice was melted and they were no longer freezing to death.  Let the foolish woman try it her way.  Shiro was not going to play her game any longer.

“Thank you. If I get run through by it's horn then feel free to go fire-wild on it.” Jet watched him as he flew towards the boat. Once she knew he would actually listen, she returned to the boat and powered down her own powers. Shiro wasn't fully powered down, but at least he was ceasing his attacks.

If real life had been a cartoon, Jamie would have shaken his head and made a sound that went wuggity-wuggity-wuggity. Surely, there was a reasonable explanation behind the giant sea beast but he didn’t really expect to find that it was a little girl. Could it be a mutation? Some mutations were radically uncontrollable when they first manifested themselves so it wasn’t entirely unprecedented but why would this little girl attack the ships? Why would the girl come after their boat unprovoked? Madrox ran back into the boat’s cabin. “Can you get us closer to that other boat?” he asked Captain Mac.

Outside on the deck Jet was having an argument with Sunfire who was flying in the air above the boat. He was balking at the fact that Jet didn’t want him to incinerate the monster, who just so happened to be a little girl. Sunfire was an agent of SHIELD, a weapon and he wanted to do his job. The girl had attacked them unprovoked, and that was a reasonable reaction to Jamie, to a certain extent. But he also saw Jet’s argument that it was a living creature and it didn’t have to be destroyed, especially now that it was revealed to be a little girl. That was a problem that Jamie had sometimes. He could practically see the point of view of virtually every argument thanks to his dupes and often he could find it difficult to make a decision, but he felt pretty sure at that moment killing a little girl was not on the agenda.

“Guys, lets try not to kill each other,” Madrox said as his dupes pulled their fallen comrade from over the edge of the boat.

The dupe was dead. It was a shame that he was dead and gone; Madrox had to experience that pain and loss. Though, in the end it is better that the dupe died instead of Jamie Prime. Madrox had thought about it several times. He hated to lose his clones. The pain was almost unbearable sometimes but most often Jamie was pretty sure he’d rather have a clone bite the dust than himself. But Jamie didn’t have time for existential ponderings at that moment.

He reached the bow of the boat and called out to the woman while keeping an eye on her ‘daughter’ on the ice floe. “Ahoy!” Madrox called out. “We’re with X-Factor and SHIELD. We want to help, honestly! That’s your daughter? What’s going on?”

The woman briefly explained that the sea monster was her fourteen-year-old daughter named Sookie. A couple of weeks ago she had manifested her mutant abilities of water and ice manipulation and her obvious physical mutation. Sookie was able to communicate with her mother because it seemed that she had also developed a telepathic means of communication that seemed to work only with her family. Their family lived on a small island and tried to keep her contained the best they could. With such a large appetite Sookie need so much more food than her family could provide. She eventually found her way to follow the crab boats and get the crabs from their pots. She didn’t mean to destroy the crab boats, Sookie was just hungry and hadn’t really learned to control her new massive body.

“Well what about us? Why did she attack our boat? We didn’t do anything to her,” Jamie wondered.

“Sookie ran across some boats earlier that were not friendly at all. They were trying to kill her. Please don’t hurt her! She doesn’t know what she’s doing! It’s not her fault!” the mother cried out.

Madrox sighed. Sookie was just a little girl. It wasn’t completely her fault that she couldn’t control her powers but he knew not everyone was going to see it that way. A dupe rushed up to Jamie and said, “We need to get out of here tout fucking suite. The Search and Destroy party will be here soon.”

Madrox pressed his palms to his eyes then looked to the woman quickly. “We have to move. There’s a group of boats coming to look for your daughter and kill her. Is there some place secluded that you know of?” Jamie asked.

Captain Mac followed Sookie’s mom, Mrs. Flannery, to their island home. They docked their boats in a hidden cove where the family’s house was situated. The Flannery’s were independently wealthy and had lived mostly secluded from the rest of the fishing towns. They went to town occasional and didn’t keep in contact with the mainland. “Your little getaway here is nice but Sookie caused some trouble for the mainland. They aren’t really going to forgive or forget so easily,” Madrox said.

Mr. Flannery hung his head. “I know. I can make donations to their families and to help repair their boats but we might have to move. Find some place new to settle down,” he said with a defeated sigh.

Jamie’s heart was heavy. “I hate to say it, but you might be right. A lot of people still don’t like or trust mutants and they’ll be even less likely to trust Sookie given her recent violent history,” Jamie said. “Any ideas guys?”

Sunfire glanced down at Madrox as he asked for ideas, and then back to the creature that was actually a young girl. This whole situation got on Shiro's nerves. The woman was irritatingly stupid, imperceptive and pushy. She assumed she knew what Shiro was doing, assumed incorrectly, and sought to humiliate him for it. She berated him for being the only one on this entire expedition willing to do anything at all. The multiplier was useless as well, indecisive and far too eager to look to others to make choices. This was his mission, he should have been willing and prepared to make these choices, yet every turn of event forced Shiro to take the action. It was he who saved them from a frozen death (since clearly, the woman was incapable of anything but gabbing), he who saved them from drowning, and now it was going to be he who would offer the solution.

"I can commission a private residence in my home town, upon a lake, which would be purchased exclusively for your daughter's use. The only requirement that I ask is that you allow your daughter to be tutored in not only the usage of her abilities, but to be a civilized human being, and not merely a beast. It would require you and your family to relocate to Japan, of course, but I cannot make such an offer outside of my homeland."

When they were settled in the Flannery's house Jamie had asked for suggestions. Shiro then spoke up. And dear god with every word he spoke it was like poking Jet with a sharp stick. He seemed so full of himself, like he was what made the earth spin. He offered private residence upon a lake. Which would have been well and good, if it wasn't for the fact that it doesn't much guarantee complete seclusion. Not only that, he made requirements. While yes the girl needed some practice in using her abilities so she would hurt anyone or cause any damage, but because her mutation made look how she was it, he implied that she needed to be tutored to be a human being.

The poor girl was not an idiot, if she could speak she would probably tell off Shiro. God knows she wanted to. Two thoughts crossed her mind. One seemed better then the other. “Well there's one place in the whole world that's perfect for training her abilities... Xavier's. They have a lake there, and no it's not private or secluded but if it's a better control of powers you want, that's the best place to go. And I'm sure they'd let the Flannery's stay nearby to help with communicating to her. If not find another means of communication”

Jet scratched the top of her head not looking at Shiro for his reaction she continued on, “But... if you were looking for someplace where no one could bother you... I don't know about Japan but I saw this article about an inhabited island off of either Australia or New Zealand. They offer a heavy pay to be caretaker of the island, everything included, food, electricity, a go cart to travel around the island. I know cause I read it and it sounded like the easiest job in the world.” The blonde didn't know and didn't care what Shinro's reaction was.

He wasn't doing much to help with her opinion of SHIELD. In fact, he was only proving her opinion to hold more truth then anything. She was sure he was still very pissy about ordering him to power down. But it was not shields mission to go in and destroy or apprehend a suspect. Jimmy called X-Factor, this was an X-Factor mission, SHEILD simply caught wind of the mission and voluntold their guys to come in. The agent must have forgotten one of the first things she told them before they even saw Jimmy. That X-Factor was in charge, it was their mission and X-Factor called the shots.

In the end they could suggest options until the polar bears came home, but in the end it would have to be up to Mrs. Flannery about the future of her daughter and her family.

Both Shiro and Jet were being helpful. They each had some very helpful suggestions for the Flannery family and their daughter. Needless to say the family would have to move away to someplace just as secluded for the safety of their daughter. Madrox didn’t know how eager they were to move but it would most likely be some place strange and unfamiliar to them. “Those are some of your options though, sir. Sookie would get the proper help in learning to master her abilities at the Xavier School but that’s your call. I have to say, actually I’m half tempted to take up that offer about being an island caretaker. Or even in Japan and swim around with those hot springs monkeys,” Jamie said and then realized he might be rambling. “Anyway, it is totally up to you. I don’t know how involved we can be but I am more than happy to help in any way I can.”

Mr. Flannery looked to his wife for a moment and she gave him a sad look. “I don’t think we’d feel comfortable going to New York and joining that school. Sookie is just too different from other mutants, from what we’ve seen. Maybe one day, but not yet,” the father explained.

“That’s understandable. I’m in no position to force you to do anything,” Madrox reassured.

Jamie looked to the family once again. He could honestly say he didn’t want to be in their position. They had to relocate their entire family and change everything. The Flannery’s would have to essentially start their lives over. This mission had turned out so entirely different than he imagined. Jamie wrote his number down and handed it to the family. “What ever you decide, I’m sure you’ll do the right thing,” the multiplying mutant said.

He shoved his hands into his pockets and kind of swayed a little bit. “So,” he said. “I guess this is where we leave.”

After saying their goodbyes Jamie turned to leave the island home of the Flannery Family and their mutant daughter. As he walked back toward Captain Mac’s boat, Jamie thought briefly about Jimmy the Crab Fisherman Dupe. When they had looked each other in the eye in the small apartment they knew what might be in the future. Jamie’s mission might have been completed but there was still a loose end to take care of. They would stop by Jimmy's apartment and then it would be all finished.

Shiro sighed in irritation with the immense stupidity of this Jet Black woman. She did not represent her organization well. She took no action whatsoever, even when her and her friend's lives were in peril, and now, even when he was trying to play it her way, trying to give a comromise that would be in the best interests of all parties, she still clearly balked at it. He was tempted to set her on fire, but he didn't. He was better than that.

"This is my contact information," he said, writing down a mailing address and an email on a small post-it note. "Take up my offer, or do not. Let me know either way within two weeks."

He looked to the two X-Factor members and slipped his mask back on.
"This concludes our alliance. I would say that it was an honor to work alongside you, but that would be a lie."

He then placed his right hand upon Madrox's shoulder.
"My condolences for the loss of your duplicate. It is my deepest regret that I was not able to prevent his demise."

He offered no parting shots to Jet, not even a parting glance. He was certain she expected it, and perhaps even wanted it, so she could feel some smug superiority to him for being a do-nothing.

And with that, he exited through the front door and soared off into the sky, opting to get home in his own way instead of flying back alongside the X-Factorites.

After it was all said and done the Flannery’s were going to decided on a pretty big decision. It wouldn’t have offended Jet if they even took up on Shinro’s offer. But it was better to offer up several choices for them instead of giving them the one. After Jamie said his goodbyes to the family, the SHEILD agent spoke… again. He spoke his fare thee wells and concluded that it was the end of their alliance, oh the blonde only wished it was the end but it was fucking SHEILD, and that it was no honor to work alongside them.

Jet had to sit there for a moment to make sure she was absolutely sure he said what he had said. She looked at Shinro as he expressed his condolences to Jamie, and just flew away. Glancing at Jamie she mouthed, “Wow…” For a guy who should be all about honor and respect he sure had a fucked up way of showing it. The blonde put on a pleasant smile and shook the Flannery’s hands, “I hope everything turns out for you guys.” She spoke her goodbyes and left with Jamie.

Once they were outside she muttered to her fellow X-Factorite, “He was regally unprofessional. Pompous asshole. Chalk up another reason I am not a team SHEILD fan.” Shinro had really pissed her off, especially the last few moments they had to spend together. Jet and Jamie made their way back to Capt Mac’s boat and headed back for the main land. The blonde would fire up the Cessna and wait for Jamie to come back from Jimmy’s apartment.

Jet didn’t want to speak to much on the boat ride back, wondering if all that would come out was Anti-Shinro remarks. As long as she never had to work with him again, she’d be okay. Thinking maybe she’ll vent to the seagulls until she was able to talk to the Bossman, Lorna, or Guido.

[Thread Ended, except for Jamie's heart wrenching one shot with Jimmy. ]
