Time: January 28th; 10:00 AM
Place: Catskill Mountain's Murderworld
Twenty-One and a half hours after Incident at Peach Lake Park

The room was big. A thirty foot cube of a room, the students and their teachers had been laid out on a single huge, extremely soft bed. The room was like something out of Raggedy Anne. The bed, actually, was a canopy bed. The sheets were navy blue, and the light blue drapes obscured the rest of the room from the resting mutants.

The walls were painted to resemble the sky, complete with clouds, minus the sun. The carpet was barely visible, what with all the toys, dolls, and small child paraphernalia strewn about the room. There was a large white dresser, tightly shut, a closet, two closed doors, one of them lead into the hallway.

The entire house. Nay, the entire 'town'. Hell, even the dense forest surrounding it was like a conglomerate of Aesop and Mother Goose. It was Arcade's Fairy Tale Wonderland, complete with all of his favorite stories and fables. The house the children were in had a perfectly cut lawn, with a white picket fence.

Arcade watched. And waited. Silently.

They would wake soon enough, and he would greet them, as should any gracious host. He would answer their questions, so long as they were cordial about it, and he would explain the rules. Until then, he would sit there and contemplate slitting his wrists.

Sleeping kids were boring as all hell.

This was not a natural sleep. It wasn't restful, it wasn't comfortable. When Rahne blinked her eyes and slowly awoke, it was with a headache and blurred vision. This was what she imagined a hangover would be like. She was misinformed, but that's beside the point.

She looked around in a slight daze, becoming more and more aware by the moment. The place they were in didn't smell familiar, didn't look familiar. Smelled pristine, new, yet looked... well, she wasn't sure how to describe it. It looked almost like the set for a children's television show. Bright colors, children's playthings... what on Earth was this place?

Shan was still out cold, and looked like she would be for some time. Not good. That left Rahne as the most experienced one here, the only experienced one here, really. And in the long run, she wasn't all that experienced. She was experienced enough to be effective out on the field, but she wasn't a veteran.

She remained quiet as she woke, looking over to the kids, all laid out in this bed. Whoever was behind all of this was going through alot of trouble to stage this specifically, but why? And to what end?

The young wolf-woman slowly sat up, sniffing at the air and carefully checking on the kids around her one by one, checking pulses at their necks to make sure they were okay. Well, if she could find Santo's neck... he could pull himself back together, right?

The last thing she could remember was people yelling at her to fly away. She wasn't allowed to fly but someone had to get away. After a moment she bolted straight up out of the snow into the sky- and right into a net. She'd let out a startled cry of pain, and struggled to rid herself of it without luck.

It had hurt but she'd continued shooting up into the sky until she passed out from the shock net. Which was why she was really hurting now. The fall from that height.. she was lucky that she was just feeling bruised. Upon waking, she had stayed still, remembering the events from before quickly. The pain had helped with that. Eventually she brought herself to opening her eyes. The others seemed to be asleep... no, scratch that. Miss Sinclair.

"Ah tried to get away," she said, faintly, to the redhead. She had to make this clear. If she had gotten away they would have gotten a rescue, and maybe everyone would be safe and sound right now. It.. if she had acted immediately, maybe it wouldn't have been too late.. Melody rolled over onto her stomach and pushed herself to a sitting position, and looked at the unconscious students. They were just sleeping, right?

She looked at Rahne, unable to hide the returning fear. "Where...?" Where were they? It didn't look too bad, right now, but- they'd been captured. Why? "Are they okay?" she asked a moment later, returning her attention to the other students. She was sore as hell.. she hoped the others were feeling better. Crashing sucked..

Vic heard voices, felt a touch, and that was what pierced the black of unconsciousness and brought him a bit closer to waking. His eyes opened quickly and reflexively closed again, avoiding the light. Trying again, Vic opened his eyes slowly, allowing his eyes to adjust properly to the light, filtered red through the canopy sheets.

His back and head ached. Actually, his whole body ached, but the worst of it was focused on those two places.

Vic didn't try to sit up yet, the feeling was something like a child getting up for school. Just five more minutes. He just really didn't feel like doing anything other than laying there, staring at the ceiling. He would have done just that too, had he not caught sight of a classmate out of the corner of his eye. That's what had him sitting upright, far too quickly. The subsequent rush of dizziness had him slide backwards to lean against the headboard.

As the vertigo passed, Vic looked around. Nobody was dead or apparently injured. That was good. Santo was nowhere to be found, though. That was bad.

"Everybody... alright?" Vic spoke slowly and softly, so as not to agitate his headache. Getting thrown around and bashed against trees wasn't exactly amongst his daily pastimes.

"Enough with the questions," Anne Lee said in a yawning voice. All the talking disturbed her sleep. She wanted to continue to sleep but no matter how much she tried, she couldn't get back to sleep. Anne Lee was curled up in a ball, like a cat, like her brother. The position hurt to sleep in but she wasn't in as much pain as Melody or Vic were in; just uncomfortable.

First she sat up and stretched giving another yawn. When was the last time she got this much sleep? It was tiring. Then the curtains were noticed, and the bed, finally, something else. Where was her cell phone? Anne Lee made an attempt to summon it. As she did, she looked at the others curiously.

The only thing she knew was that they were not in the mansion or anywhere near Xavier's. Looking curiously to Melody, Anne Lee wanted to ask her if she knew where they were. However, if her sleeping mind had registered correctly, Melody was the first to ask where they were. The panic slowly crept up on her. Where were they? This place wasn't familiar. Why were they on the same bed? With a slight tug, she pulled open one of the curtains. All the toys furthered her confusion. Where the heck were they?

Then the worst happened which caused her fright to finally go over the edge. "My cell phone," she started in a desperate tone, "I can't find it. Not in range. Where are we?" How could her cell phone be out of range? This had to be a simulation for the Danger Room. It only made sense since it could be programmed to block her summoning. Miss Sinclair decided to surprise the group of students with a sudden training session, right?

"Melody, Vic, have you seen my cell phone? I can't loose anything. It's impossible. I had right with me. I can't locate it."

With her mouth dry like she had just ran a marathon and her body aching, Sooraya slowly began to stir back into being awake. Blinking as she raised her eyes from her forced slumber, the Muslim mutant had trouble remembering what had exactly happened or where she was. Slowly her memory of the events returned, there had been ice and snowballs, laughter followed by metal monsters falling from the sky and nets that shocked her till she passed out. Mentally she checked herself before she moved any further. She was in a human form and she couldn’t feel any kind of collar or tag on herself, nor could she feel outside of the dull thudding and ache of the shocks any real damage to herself. Bruised but she would live, considering if any of them managed to figure out what the hell was going on. So far, this field trip was worse than the riot at the museum and the trip abroad by a long shot. Coughing slightly as she shook herself awake, Sooraya sat up, realising that she was a long way from the snow covered place where they had all been captured.

As she sat up and glanced around herself, she saw that there was the others around her, all looking like the same position she was. Ms Sinclaire, Anne Lee, Melody and Victor all seemed to be in the same boat as she was in concerns to knowing what was going on. But the place itself was strange, a giant bed that they had been stretched out on her view obscured by the drapes that hung down. The Muslim mutant felt something that she hadn’t felt in a long time, the sense of complete and utter bewilderment about where they were. Whatever those giant metal monsters were, they had brought them to something that seemed almost unreal in its place, a giant bed that was soft to lay on. Not that it helped her soreness from the shocks or the panic in her mind but over all it just added to the sense that something terrible was going to happen (even more so than what had happened).

“What happened? All I remember is the robots and the nets but after that I must have passed out. Is everyone here?” she asked, her mind still trying to put together what was going on, it was all so surreal. She had little idea what was awaiting them outside or what might happen but Soorayas gut was telling her that no good would come from this at all.

Jason didn't ever really wake up sore. It was very difficult for his muscles to fatigue. His body tended to give them a tiny boost of gamma radiation whenever it got too much. He was trying very very hard to control this urge, but it was a very basic reaction. He had been told that it would take a great deal of time to attain this kind of control over his body and his powers. So waking up this way was new, definitely.

His muscles weren't sore, but his head was. He had the most pounding headache. His hand went up to where it hurt. There was a huge bump. He tried to give himself a little test. He recalled the date, the president, where he was... well, where he had been. He hadn't the faintest idea where he was. This effect was disconcerting, and put Jason immediately on edge.

"That's a pretty good summary of events, Sooraya," Jason said, "there was a little punching and fighting going on between seeing the robots and them kicking the shit out of us but not a big gap between the two. At least not for me."

Jason stood up and stretched, tilting his head from side to side. He figured that they were in some kind of prison. He just couldn't divine the purpose of it. Their room was nice, but... weird.

Jason could hardly move around without kicking some kind of toy. Jason was far more nervous about this than he would be if he had woke up in chains. He picked up one stuffed animal and gave it a squeeze to see if there was anything inside. Jason looked around and saw that he was one of the last to wake up. He was just happy to be waking up.

"Is everyone awake?" he asked, "We should figure out some plan. Split up or stay together?"

A manic grin split Arcade's face.

Finally they were all up. Rising from his chair, Arcade moved behind the walls of the house, down from the attic to the wall across from the room. Standing with his back to the wall, the madman straightened his bowtie and ran a comb through his hair. These were young, impressionable minds. A section of the wall spun, taking Arcade with it and placing him in the hallway.

The door opened on it's own, allowing the Grandmaster of Amazing into the room.

"Hello, kiddies!" Arcade spoke in a grand and booming voice, as though he were the ringmaster at a circus. "I'm so glad you could make it tonight." He paused. The kiddies had slept well into the morning. "Today."

"As I'm sure you've been wondering, my name is Arcade. And no, I'm not a mutant. I was born oozing fun and brilliance, so don't worry. I won't be offended if you can't look at me directly, and you'll find some shades on the dresser, should you find them necessary."

Oh. Wait. They probably wanted to know where they were. But really, that wasn't important, was it? Arcade was certain that they'd forget all about such trivial matters once they got into the adventure.

"Fret not, children. You'll get to go home soon enough. Probably..." One could never be sure, in Murderworld. "Just as soon as we've finished the games."

Oh, but he was getting ahead of himself. It was no fun just telling them everything. Only the stupid bad-guys monologued. Arcade liked to call this period the Q&A session.

It was interesting, when pondered, how certain people reacted to crises in different ways. Some remained calm, cool and collected. Others became panicky, fear overtaking their overall state of being. Then there were those like Anne Lee, who got upset over unrelated things.

"We'll worry about yuir phone later," Rahne said in a soft tone. The fur on the back of her neck stood on end as she sniffed at the air, making sure all were accounted for.

"'Tis alright, Melody," she said, glancing back to the girl who was aplogizing. "Ye did yuir best an' that's what matters. Now it's important that we stick together, figure out where we are, and how we get out. I dinnae want any o' ye tryin' to be heroes, doin' anythin' reckless. We do this smart, cautious. I'm nae gonna let anyone o' ye get hurt any worse."

That was when their abductor made himself known. He wasn't anyone Rahne recognized, try as she may. But it was very clear that this man held all the cards, that he was completely in charge, and judging by the machines that collected them, he was also the only reason they weren't dead. That is, they were alive because he wanted them to be. Therefore, it wasn't the best idea to antagonize him.

"Play along f'r now," she whispered to the kids.

"What do ye mean by 'games'?" she asked, almost afraid of the answer.

The others were waking up quickly. It was a little weird maybe that they were all waking up about the same time but at the same time it was relieving. Only. Karma was still out, and Beak… And wasn't there supposed to be another guy with them? Santo, she was pretty sure his name was. The rock man. She felt uneasy that one of them was missing, but she could at least hope he'd gotten away. He could have, right?

"Ah'm okay, just feelin' bruised," the girl replied to Vic, glancing at him in concern. He'd looked like he was going to pass out on them for a moment there. Oh this was awful. Mel sat up, pulling her legs to her chin and leaning against the headboard of the bed beside him. Next to get up was Anne Lee, who quickly began to freak out over her lost cell phone. Melody shook her head and tried to calm down her roommate. Her older, more experienced, panicking roommate. Strangely enough, someone else panicking settled her down. "Lee, Ah think it's still be in the park... your trackin' radius is five miles, right? All that means, we're at least that far."

Sooraya woke with the same questions, and the other guy responded and started looking around their room. He seemed ready to start going, who knows where. "We can't split up," she said immediately, perhaps sounding a little frightened. Sure some of them were experienced and some were strong, but she wasn't and this wasn't a DR session. She was glad that Rahne decided that they were going to stick together. Smart and cautious. That she could do. Sure she'd wanted to be a hero like her big brother and sister, but- she wasn't ready yet.

"Where's the other guy?" she said, sliding off the edge of the bed and looking under it, hoping he'd be there. Not like a normal bed would've held him, right? About then, someone else had come into the room. On the side opposite than she. She peeked over the edge at him... he didn't look that threatening, but that didn't mean anything did it? Rahne told them to play along for the time being.

"Hi, Arcade," she said, climbing back onto the bed and sitting cross-legged. Trying to look comfortable and cheerful rather than bruised and scared. Rahne asked what kind've games they were going to play; Melody had a different question. "Is .. our other friend here too, is he okay?" she asked, glancing at the dresser where the guy said there were sunglasses. Were they going to really need them or was he being silly? Was this the person who sent those robots to the park? What about the ones that were still unconscious? It was all she could do not to spout off a half dozen questions at once.

Jason was very much on the same page as Melody when it came to splitting up, to be honest. In the practical corner of his mind he knew that splitting up was just generally a bad idea in a situation like this, since they didn't know what they were up against. It may take all of them together to deal with whatever was going to happen.

Then things suddenly got a lot more confusing, which Jason hadn't thought was possible. This weird looking guy in a suit strolls in like the kidnapping was all in good fun. If that was his idea of fun, Jason was not in the mood to play whatever "game" he had in mind. Jason almost reflexively moved towards one of the beds with the intention of throwing it at their obvious captor and then having this Q and A while he nursed a few broken bones. A hushed whisper from Rahne stilled him after one step though. His brow furrowed in frustration. Run away, don't attack. How were they supposed to get anything done? A brief moment of retrospect made him realize that out of all of them he had a good chance of escaping back at the park. If he had launched himself away from the robots rather than at them he could have gone a mile or two with a single jump. Landing would be tricky, but still he could have told the rest of the X men and everyone's odds would have been better with them actively searching. So he stood still for now, deciding that it was maybe a good idea to listen to the teacher.

Playing along might be a good idea. He was hesitant to try the glasses though. Their captor clearly made magneto look like a member of the sane people's club, and Jason was trying to figure out if putting on the glasses would be rewarded or punished. The response would either be "Yay, you listened to my instructions. I like that because I have serious control issues relating to my small penis and the fact that girls never went out with me in high school. Therefor something good happens." or "Ha ha, foolish child. Listening to my every word is not very fun. Enjoy your fried eyeballs." Jason did open up the dresser but only kind of toyed with the glasses.

"They're not really my style" he mused aloud, "Still that tie is really starting to hurt my eyes..." he said, glancing over at Arcade.

He left it like this a little to maybe get a hint from their host about how maniacal he really was. Of all of them Jason and Santo, who wasn't there right now, were the only ones who had a measure of invulnerability. So he had the best odds of surviving whatever may happen. However, his eyes were pretty much as squishy as anyone's and he had no protection against electric shocks or fire of half a dozen other things these glasses could do. When he was out of here Jason would be certain to seriously examine his decision making paradigm, since it seems to be leading him to the kind of situations where he has to contemplate killer sunglasses.

Through the open door at the other end of the room in walked a strangely dressed man, although to be fair, throughout the day Sooraya and her classmates had been subject to something worse, so this scored low on her oddness factor. Even if he was a tad annoying in his speech, she still didn’t trust what he was saying or what he wanted them to do. What kind of games was the man on about? Sooraya didn’t make the connection with the name Arcade and the old amusement places, having never heard of them in her life, but she thought it was a strange name for a strange man. But he seemed to be their captor and she tensed at his entrance, her instincts telling her to rip the flesh from his bones for taking them. But she stayed calm, remembering that a year changes your tactics a bit. She had the others with her and putting this man into the judgment of Allah may not be the best approach to getting out of here, especially when Ms Rahne told them to go along with the man rather than do anything else.

But it was obvious that several of them were missing, such as Santos, Glimmer and Bird-Boy (Sooraya wasn’t sure on what his name was and felt a tad guilty at that thought. What if they had been killed and she didn’t know his name). But they had no way of contacting the outside at the moment and if they were trapped, then playing along with the odd mans games may be their best bet of getting out. But like her teacher said, what games did he mean? Like team sports or gambling? Sooraya hoped it wasn’t the latter. Gambling was haraam, forbidden. However, getting home with everyone was the most important thing. Deal with this man, save the others and leave, that was the best thing. But she decided to keep quiet rather than ask any questions figuring out that too many had been asked already and that confusing the man may not be the best approach to getting the right kind of answers. Like how did he know they were mutants, or why did he target them if he didn’t?

Sooraya observed Jason examining the glasses but decided not to take one herself, mainly cause she didn’t see the reasoning’s behind wearing one just because of the mans so called “brilliance”. So far, all Sooraya saw was an unhinged kidnapper with a big bed and a kitchy choice in clothes. Not that she would say this to him, antagonising the man wouldn’t help their chances whatever they did. But if Ms Rahne gave the word, Sooraya would have no problem finishing the man if called for. He would just be another unjust man sent to his fate.

Both Miss Sinclair and Melody tried to calm her down. A cell phone was a constant thing for her. It was her lifeline to her brother. If it wasn't here then Melody had to be correct. The phone was one too many five miles away from this over-sized child's room. But Miss Sinclair was right. Though she hated, hated, to admit it, her precious cell phone could wait. At least she knew where the park was.

Waiting patiently for the others to wake Anne Lee looked around the room some more. She did not get off the bed. The decor really freaked her out since only Melody could be considered a kid. Out of the students Anne Lee bet she was the oldest. Of course she rarely acted her age. So, why did their captor place them in such a room? If the robots gave anything away, the toys should not be touched. However, when Jason picked up the teddy bear she only laughed. For some reason she found him with a stuff animal really funny despite the situation all of them were in.

And from out of no where he appeared.

The red headed man introduced himself as Arcade. Alas, not a mutant, but an even better real, live evil-genius. If only this was a TV show and real people were not involved in whatever this guy had planned up his sleeves. Oh, she would have been so ecstatic if she was not here, in this room, having to play crazy games. But what kind of games?

Leaving the glasses alone, Anne Lee stared at Arcade curiously. Many question came to her mind. Like who was he, where were they, could she see the robots again without being attacked? Every nonsense question forming on the tip of her tongue did not escape her mouth. She, for once, knew better. If the others weren't already asking about the glasses then she would have at least had one relevant question to ask. In her mind, she saw the offering of the glasses as a way to block the dude from sight in shame because he was not a mutant like them. But who was he?!

Finally, not being able to keep her mouth shut any longer, Anne Lee asked, "Why are we here? Where are we? What were those robots? Have you seen my cell phone? What do you mean by 'probably'?"

Vic ignored Anne Lee’s questions about her phone. She seemed to be panicking a bit, far as Anole could tell. If she were calm, she would have realized that if the phone was out of her range, it’d been left behind or destroyed. Either way, it was no help now, and thus, irrelevant. They needed to focus on the important bits. Like figuring out why they’d been captured, where they were.

His questions were finally given an outlet once Arcade entered the room. The redhead’s getup might have amused Vic, perhaps incited a bit of a laugh from the reptile had he not known, with almost certainty, that this man was the reason he’d been knocked out, and now had a burning ache in his back and a headache. No. This wasn’t funny in the slightest.

In fact, once Arcade entered the room and started spouting nonsense, Vic was about in the same boat as Jason. His questions were temporarily forgotten as the urge to throw something heavy and painful at the clown set upon him. Wolfsbane’s words stopped him, though, and the lack of action calmed him enough to remember that information was more important than venting his aggravation.

His tongue lashed out, snatching up one of the sunglasses. He examined it for a moment, then dropped it. He couldn’t see any traps, but still. The man was talking nonsense. Now was the time to prompt the man into saying something worth hearing.

“How’d you find us? And why’d you pick us out in the first place?” He didn’t look at Jason, but he hoped that if he willed it annoyance at him, it might make itself perceived. Crazies with giant robots were at their best behavior when they weren’t getting jabbed at.

So many questions! Such were young minds: inquisitive, resourceful, not too stupid but not so controlled by experience that they all fell into the same patterns. Yes, this was going to be interesting. He paid Helio no mind. The boy was making up for his uncertainty with what was supposed to be a snappy insult.

“Well, of course the bowtie burns to look at. One can’t even look at God directly. You expect to handle this” He gestured to himself. “Without proper protection? Silly, silly child.”

Now Arcade cleared his throat loudly. There had to be a break in the questions, or he’d never get around to answering them.

“You’re in my brand spankin new Murderworld. I do hope you can gather from the name why I said you’d ‘probably’ go home. Your friends, the bird boy, the rock, and the other chick, were left behind. You see, my babies only have two arms. And there were three of them. Simple math. Also, if I remember correctly, the rock was broken. I think he might be dead.” Arcade paused for a moment, hoping that the kiddies weren’t gonna burst into tears. Crying kiddies were not kiddies who were going to survive. They could either break down, or use their wrath to perform better.

“The game is hide and seek. Except it’s not so much seeking for you, or hiding for me. Because I’m sure you’ll be able to work out where I am pretty easily. You find me, and you find the only safe exit from this place. Any other way out you might try is prepared to… deter you. You’ll get all sorts of warnings, should you stray too far, so just pay attention, and you’ll be fine.

“The game starts in five minutes. Until then…” A slit opened in a wall and a tray full of various cookies, a gallon of milk, and six cups slid into Arcade’s waiting hand. “You can have some milk and cookies. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, you know. And you haven’t eaten since you’ve been here. You’ll need your strength.” White teeth shone as Arcade’s face split further into a bigger grin. “If you’ve nothing else to say, I’ll be leaving you now. Have fun!”

Arcade waited a few moments. If the students said or did nothing, he left after fifteen seconds.
