"Great," Rahne muttered after Arcade left. This was not at all a good situation. They were down several people, one of whom may well be dead (probably wasn't, as she was certain that Santo had the ability to break apart and reform), trapped in an unfamiliar place with a madman who wanted them to play a deadly game for nothing more than his own amusement. She sniffed at the platter of milk and cookies, not detecting anything at all toxic in them. No poisions, no drugs, nothing. They actually were everything they appeared to be. "They're safe," she said, but still didn't touch any of them. She looked to the kids around her and cautiously stepped off of the bed. She was the lone faculty member here, the lone authority. They were going to look to her for leadership, and she wasn't sure if she was up to the task. Well, she'd have to be, and that was that. "I'm nae gonna sugar coat this," she said. "We're in a bad spot here. But we can make it out o' this, we can get through it an' make it home. We just have to be smart, keep our heads screwed on straight at all times, and watch out for each other. No panic, no outbursts of emotion. Ye just remember what all yuir teachers have taught ye, what ye've learned, an' we can do this. We can get out an' make it home." She took the time to look each of them in the eye, trying to be as reassuring as she could manage. "We can do this. You can do this. I believe in ye." |

Sitting cross-legged on the bed, Melody watched and listened while questions were answered. No one else really seemed scared like she felt. Anne Lee was freaked out, maybe in shock, but she didn't really seem scared. Mel wasn't afraid of the man himself. There were several other people. At the moment if anything happened, he was outnumbered, and she was sure any of the others - except maybe Anne Lee - could take him. It was the situation. He called the place Murderworld. The news about the others- that they were left behind, and that Santo might be dead- wasn't completely processed, because they were in a place called Murderworld and there was a chance that they wouldn't all make it out. They were already missing a few people, and they could lose more... No. They couldn't. That would be too horrible. Santos was just fine, and he and the rest would be waiting for them at the mansion. Or getting help. Maybe. The game's rules sounded simple, but hinted that it was... What kind of name was Murderworld, anyway? Why was he being so weirdly friendly to them when he was sending them to face life-threatening somethings? She barely noticed the man leaving, or the plate of cookies. Her blue eyes were narrowed at the comforter beneath her. Paige or Sam wouldn't be afraid. She was being such a baby. She was a mutant. She had powers that a normal teenage girl in this situation wouldn't, she wasn't completely helpless. Ah gotta suck it up, or Ah'll drag 'em down, she thought, forgetting to keep a cheery expression as she glared down at the bedspread. The youngest member of the group looked up at Rahne when she spoke. Hope springs eternal, and kids believe what they need to. The teacher said that they could do it. Melody believed her. She had to, or she couldn't bring herself to leave the 'safety' of the ridiculous room. He said five minutes. Melody stretched. "We gotta get ready. Ah know we dunno what's next, but-" she hopped off the bed, shoving curtains out of her way, and stretched some more. The curtains would have been something like nets if she needed to fly."Ah can fly when stiff, but if Ah have a minute, Ah might well use it." She wasn't sure what exercises they might use, mental or physical, to get ready to fight. Being all stiff from being beaten up couldn't help the situation though. Her eyes kept on going back to Rahne. She was doing right, right? She was still scared, but it was a tight ball of scared, shoved down until it was safe to let it out. |

Jason was a little too shell shocked at the moment to wrap his head around the possibility of Santo's death. On the one hand he vaguely remembered something about him saying that he could survive Jason busting him apart but he really didn't know enough about the guy's powers to be sure. Still, Rahne wasn't worried. She was a teacher, she would know if he was dead. Right? Then again she might just not be saying anything about it so that they don't freak out. Jason was personally very well past freak out mode. He could handle a lot of things but sometimes he just snapped. And right now it wasn't so much the danger of the situation as the total randomness of it. "What the fuck!" he shouted, more in an exasperated tone than an angry one. Like he was fed up with an unruly child, "What the holy fuck?! You know, I had totally accepted the brotherhood, Shield, anti-mutant extremists, or uber-powers gone out of whack as a totally plausible factor in my every day life. But no, no way. No way in hell. I refuse to accept color challenged lunatics with a fucked up Neverland Ranch. I draw the line there. Too much, just to much." Jason seethed for a second. Rahne looked back at Jason, folded her arms at her chest, and waited for his tirade to be over. It was understandable to freak out, to panic as it were. But it wasn't going to do them any good. "Hope ye've gotten that out o' yuir system, Mister Helio," she said, a gentle chastisement. "Can we count on ye to keep it together from here on out?" Jason nodded, "Oh yeah. Just kinda wanted to... point that out I guess. I'm cool," Jason did a few quick stretches, "Rule #18: Limber up. I'm ready to play hide and go seek in murder world when you guys are." Jason positioned himself at the door and left when the group did. Sitting around only made you contemplate your lot. |

Enthusiastically the red haired man answered every question the students shot at him. The place called Murder World sounded like it would make a great name for a messed up theme park. Though, she probably wouldn't have attended a theme park with such a name willingly. But, how he described it made it seem more like a giant game or maze and they were the guinea pigs. Before Arcade left he directed their attention to a plate of chocolate chip cookies and glasses filled with milk. Anne Lee stared at them but like the rest, she did not reach out for a cookie. Maybe they were safe, like Miss Sinclair said, but they could be unsafe too. Nothing here deserved to be called predicable. How much would she bet that a machine of some sort would jump out of no where in an attempt to scare everyone causing those eating the cookies to choke? Jason began to panic worse than she. Anne Lee listened to him shout. He made a lot of points. Things like this should not happen. Kinda like how teenagers shouldn't be able to punch through a wall or make anything appear. His outburst caused her to forget, for the time being, her cell phone. Out of them all she thought at least he would remain calm: him and Sooraya. Taking Miss Sinclair's words to heart, Anne Lee got off the bed and stretched but not to make herself anymore prepared to face the unknown as Melody and Jason were. No, she just wanted to be preoccupied. Five minutes was a long time. A really long time. She trusted Miss Sinclair. After a minute Anne Lee turned to the teacher and said unsurely, "What if we get separated? What should we do?" Staying in the same spot and wait for someone to find you did not appear to be the smartest idea at a place called Murder World. What did the red haired man mean by 'warnings' and that the wrong ways would 'deter' them? "I'll be able to locate everyone again but they can't." She nodded to Melody as she said this. The last thing she wanted was to get separated from her roommate and her friends. "Also, you think I can summon anything outside Murder World or you think something might be blocking it?" A valid question since the Danger Room had the capability of blocking her summoning of objects outside its holographic walls. Before she summoned anything she wanted an opinion other than her own. Something could even go wrong with her powers. |

Murderworld. Even the name sounded evil and sinister, although it made Sooraya think of it as a very bad horror movie on a late night television channel. But the news that the missing students may be fine was good to hear, but she was still worried about Santos. Although if they had been ok, they would have been found or woken up by now and hopefully would have raised the alarm. And as long as Arcade wasn't shielding their minds from telepathic searches, maybe Mrs Grey-Summers could find them soon and save them. But if not, then it would be up to them to play this sadistic game that Arcade had made, to find him, find the escape and then if he was bluffing them for his own sick enjoyment, Sooraya would kill him as he stood. But the food and drink, they would not be touched at all. Even after being told by everyone that they were fine, she couldn't imagine anyone being particularly hungry at this point in time. And even if Ms Rahne said they were fine to eat, Sooraya was sure that she had heard things about odourless poisons that she couldn't pick up on, or if the cookies had broken glass baked into them. As Wolfsbane got out of bed and gave her speech for reassurance and Jason had his short fit of anger, Sooraya simply sat and listened. However getting off the bed as well, she had to listen as the teenage boy shouted his frustration. As soon as they were finished, the girl simply stood and took a deep breath to calm herself. Five minutes could be a long time for anyone, but for Sooraya it seemed to fly by, anticipation for a fight arising. If she was just by herself, then she would be able to do probably fine in surviving. After all, its pretty hard to stop a sand storm, where she is able to cover ground a lot faster and survive attacks easily that would maim or kill her in her human form. But she had to stick with her fellow students, after all, not one person could be allowed to get left behind. It was all of them getting out or none of them at all. "I think this man is sick in the head. But we are getting out of this together and if we get split up, we can find each other again, we have survived worse than this, haven't we? Anne Lee, why not try? I'm sure he doesn't know what kind of things we can do and how well we can do them. So whats our plan of action?" |

Anole stood, along with everybody else and stretched. He would need to be limber, for whatever they may end up being forced to deal with. He was still in pain, but he wasn't debilitated. He could still handle himself. In this group, though, handling himself might not be enough. There were a few, like Anne Lee, and possibly Melody, who weren't very gifted in the field of combat when one looked at their powers. He was sure that they must've had appropriate training at the school, but his time in the tunnels had instilled a sort of brother's keeper sense in Vic. He shared Dust's sentiment that not a single one of them would end up by the wayside if there was any way Vic could stop it. "I don't think splitting up is an altogether bad plan. Right now, I say we take a look around." He glanced at Dust. "Sooraya and I can move quickly. I can blend in, and she can turn into sand. Why don't we step out and look around. Then we, as a group, can decide where we should go." Splitting up had it's risks, namely that they had no real method of communication once separated, but it had it's fair share of advantages as well. "Arcade said it'd be pretty obvious, where he was. So it shouldn't be hard to figure out which way we should go." |

Arcade had paused partway down the hall, gauging the kiddie's responses. At least there were no sobs echoing through the halls. No angsty screams of "NOOOO!!!!!". No stupid children chasing after him, hoping to put this game to an early end. Every game had it's stages. These stages must not be rushed, lest one defeat the purpose of the game, or worse, make it unenjoyable for anyone involved. Glancing at his watch, he realized that three minutes had passed. Shrugging, he pushed a button in his lapel. There was no immediate response, but in two more minutes, the toys strewn about the room would animate and attack. A simple threat, and hopefully not too difficult to overcome. If anybody believed cabbage patch kids to be soul eating demons, Arcade's revision of the loved and cherished children's toy would surely do nothing to assuage those fears. If anything, the frequency of nightmares from said fears could easily increase. Arcade chuckled under his breath as he imagined the faces of the kiddies when the 'harmless' children's toys rose against them, complete with a few little tricks the madman had gleefully built into them. Arcade vs. Kiddies... FIGHT! That one provoked a laugh from Arcade. A deep, hearty laugh from a good place. |

"We do our best t' make sure we dinnae get separated, but if it does happen, I'll do my best t' track ye down, an' if Anne Lee can focus on things we have on us, clothes an' whatnot, she should be able to locate any stragglers as well," Rahne looked around at the various students, and then over to the doorway Arcade had left from. It was the one way out of this little room, and they'd have to stick together from there. No telling what was on the other side of the door. Rahne reached forward and tested the doorknob. Locked. And, she imagined, probably not a good idea to try and force this man's game ahead of time. He seemed... disjointed, unhinged. Who knew what kind of traps were set forth, what kind of punishment would await if they tried to circumvent his rules? No, for the kids' sake, they'd have to play by his rules. It was their best chance of surviving this. As they hit the five minute mark, a soft, subtle sound registered in Rahne's ears - fabric rubbing against fabric, but with the whir of mechanics underneath. She glanced in the direction of the sound, eyes wide as she saw what it was. The toys were starting to move. Without wasting a moment, Rahne threw open the door that led them out into the hallway. "Go! I'll bring up the rear," she urged them to go through with quick hand motions, watching the toys carefully. When the first one leapt at them, Rahne lunged toward it and swiped at it with the claws on her right hand, tearing through nylon and stuffing, exposing wires and pistons and sending it careening into the far wall. |

They apparently weren't allowed to leave early. Jason wasn't really a punctual person anyway. He flopped on the bed and tried to think of the best way to handle this. Jason did not naively assume that the game was meant to be won. He wished that he was out there, doing something. Fighting something. WISH GRANTED! Rahne shouted and Jason bolted upright. A doll promptly tackled his face. Jason grabbed it and pulled it off, crushing it in his had. Electricity crackled from it and the metal inside crushed as he had to dial up his strength a few notches to squish it. Killer dolls everywhere. Oh yeah, nightmares will come of this. Notch it right up with killer zombies for real life nightmare machines. They crawled up the bed and Jason couldn't put his feet on the ground fast enough. He punted the elaborate wooden frame and mattress along the ground to send the dolls in it's wake flying back. He ran to the door, and anything in his was was not going to survive. That was that. Jason was out the door and ready for whatever killer Legos were about to attack them or whatever. He kept an eye behind him making sure that no students were having trouble. He'd leap right back in there if he had to. |

Melody understood the need to yell and have a hissy fit like Jason was having, but that wasn't a road that was going to get them anywhere. They couldn't let their tempers go, like they couldn't let their fear overwhelm. Yeah it was too much, but seeing the other, more experienced mutants out of sorts was making it closer to the point that she'd start crying or something. And that so wouldn't help things either. Mel tried, she really did try to pay attention to the others speaking to each other as they waited. But her nerves were on end, and she was eyeing everything. What in here was going to be dangerous? Melody was not trained for fighting. She had other things to do. Studying. Practicing flying. Helping her friend catch up, because she wanted to be able to share classes with her. Important as these things were to her, she realized now that she should have made more room for the self defense courses the school offered. Once more Melody managed to swallow her panic, and hoped she'd be able to keep a cap on it this time. "GAH!" she screeched as the toys started moving, and something sharp dug its little hands into her ankle. Really, she should have expected it, somehow. The baby dolls! Their eyes... She was off the ground without really thinking about it, shoving the doll off with her free foot and rising about three feet. Perhaps how fast she followed Rahne's direction to go, could label her as a coward or whatever, but she needed to get out of that room. As it was she was probably going to be seeing little babies with glowing red eyes in her dreams for some time to come. |

OK, so, evidently toys coming to life fit horror films better than a fell-good child's flick. Pixar so lied! Anne Lee looked at Sooraya as she answered her question about using her powers. She was right, he wouldn't know exactly what their powers were. Thus! Whatever object within her radius would be at her beck and call! However, the nightmare toys were marked off the list of possible summons she'd seen since waking. Anne Lee gave off a startled screech like Melody as one of the cabbage patch dolls lunged at her. Instinctively ducking away, Anne Lee put her arms over her head. This was so messed up. Another lunged while the other students and Miss Sinclair ran out of the room. Jason broke the bed. The living non-Pixar doll successfully caught hold of her hair. Options, Anne Lee thought of all the ways to get the doll out of her hair. One was pulling her hair out. It would hurt but it'll be the quickest way to get rid of the doll! Grabbing the doll in her hands she pulled it away from her head. It wouldn't let go! The doll had to be stopped! There had to be away to stop frightening attack! It so figured she would trip on her way out the door. Still with the doll attached to her hair, Anne Lee found herself on the floor. The cursed thing which caused the fall was nothing more than one of the dolls Miss Sinclair tore apart. And it gave her a better idea to get free! The doll being connected to her hair made it so her powers could not summon it. Strange, very strange. Instead of loosing any of her hair or being mauled by doing nothing, Anne Lee summoned the circuitry from the dratted cabbage patch doll. It dropped to the floor, both doll and what made it work. Free from the horror grip, Anne Lee rushed up from the floor. She chased after the others not wanting to be left behind. The whole thing was messed up. Out of the room she went having been one of the last ones. Throughout the whole thing a realization came to the summoner. It was something of the others figured out already... She needed more Danger Room sessions. |
