Day two now, things were dull for the young Irishman in a strange new place. One thing that Liam had realized and was completely sure of was this: Xavier Institute had a diverse selection of students attending. In the past twenty-four hours Liam had seen ever sort of mutant there was. They seemed to come from every corner of the globe and in all shapes and sizes.

Liam had seen people who seemed to be made out of stone, had wings as though they were angels or even looked like the mythical creatures out of the old folk tales his Grandda used to tell him while he was laying down to bed. Another thing he had noticed was that no matter how different they all seemed to get along, like one big family and that had brought comfort to Liam. Perhaps this was where he needed to be, with his fellow teenage mutants, learning how to live in a society where their kind was prosecuted while still being safe.

Of course there was still cliques, like any other school he had been to in his life. That was just teenagers. Some got along others when some didn't so people grouped with who they fit in with to feel excepted. However, Liam was too new to have a clique so here he sat at lunchtime, at a lone table in the far corner next to the tall windows which seemed to encompass the entire wall.

On the small table sat an I-pod Touch, playing Snow Patrol, a tray with a bowl that held a Caesar salad, bread and a can of Diet Pepsi, and an open book. Liam was hunched over, nursing his lunch as he looked between the book with disinterest, a pair of large headphones pumping steady music into his ears. The sound of the music drowned out the noises of the dining hall.

Liam wore his lucky bucket hat, with a orange, white and green shamrock sown to the front, a plain black t-shirt and a pair of khaki cargo pants. The young mutant tried not to pay attention to the crowd but he couldn't help but glance up into the crowd now and again, wondering which of the students he would end up making friends with.

As far as Laurie could tell, the school was getting an influx of new students. And by influx, she really means a few new students here and there. Mutant teenagers were developing like weeds all over the place. What did Laurie see it as? An opportunity to make new friends. Kevin was the best friend she had made out of all the new students... and actually the only friend, so she figured she needed to put herself out there and stop being so anti-social. No reverting back to old Laurie, no sir.

So, what better place to be social than the school's cafeteria? It was the place to be - after all, everyone gets hungry at some point, so there's almost always a few people to talk to. Laurie hauled herself out of her room dressed in her Carebear pajama pants and a yellow wool sweater (ever the fashionista, she was), and moseyed on down to the cafeteria in search of some good conversation - preferably with someone she'd never met before, to shake things up. She looked like a typical social butterfly, after all - why not live up to appearances?

When she entered the cafeteria and smelled the cooking food, she realized just how hungry she actually was. She looked down at her stomach when it snapped at her, and made her way over to get herself a double cheeseburger and some fries - the good ol' American dish. Considering how unhealthy her chosen meal already was, she decided to forgo soda and grabbed herself a water. The cafeteria was unusually overpopulated, but when she glanced at the large clock on the wall she realized that it was lunch time. Her eating habits were so off-kilter that she forgot noon was the general time people would congregate for delicious yummies.

As she looked around for a place to sit, she noticed a particularly lonely-looking table with only one person inhabiting it. A person she had never seen before! Jackpot. Ignoring the fact that he had his nose in a book and headphones on, Laurie plopped herself down beside him. "Mind if I sit?" she asked after she had already done so, and picked up a fry. "I haven't seen you around before, are you new?" she asked, not really aware that he may or may not have heard her because she was much too focused on her meal and satiating her hunger.

Liam picked away at his salad in distaste. He wasn't one to enjoy a light meal but his mother had made him swear to the life of a vegetarian. Eating heavy meals often brought on a bout of narcolepsy so he had to eat light meals. Tofu certainly had nothing on a cheese burger but sometimes you had to make adjustments to get on with life.

In one of his glances over the cafeteria he noticed someone standing at the far end of the cafeteria looking amongst the tables for a place to sit. Her eye fell on Liam's table and she seemed to make up her mind because she headed right for the table. Liam wasn't sure if she had seen him see her because he was looking under the brim of his bucket hat but he reached up and brushed the right headphone off of his ear, resting just behind it.

The girl seemed to be dressed very casually, but that's how a lot of students seem to do around here. It was like a home so why shouldn't people be comfortable. She sat and then asked permission to sit. Liam smirked slightly and nodded, placing a small piece of paper in his book and closing it. Then she asked if he was new.

"Aye, just started yesterday. Name's Liam Kilmurry. Just flew in from Ireland yesterday." Liam picked up his cold can of Diet Pepsi and took a small swig. "Quite the interesting home ya have here." He said nodding to the masses of students in the dining hall.

Then he shook his name and shyly added. "Sorry, what was your name?"
