When: April 10th
Where: Kitchen
Time: Early evening

Angie walked silently into the kitchen, her color the usual happy yellow. Walking over to the table, she set her books on the table and walked over to the fridge, opening it to see what was in there. Smiling, she started humming as she grabbed a package of strawberries and pulled it out, setting it on the counter along with a package of whipped cream someone had bought for them. She wasn't supposed to be eating yet, she was supposed to wait for someone to cook something for her, but she was hungry and wanted a snack.

Smiling, she set the strawberries and whipped cream on the table, sitting up in a chair and starting to munch slowly, dipping the strawberries in the cream. She dipped and took a bite, then closed her eyes, her yellow fading to a whiter shade, showing her happiness at the taste. It was all just so wonderful. As she ate, she wondered why she didn't turn the color of strawberries when she was happy. They were very good and were something she was sure everyone liked. After a moment of thought, she grinned a little and held a strawberry up close to her face, staring at the pattern for a few moments and memorizing it. A moment later, she changed color. Her body became red with little brown dots and her hair became green. She was now a big strawberry.

OOC: Jayson still has blonde hair. She doesn't dye it red until May.

"A little late for snack so soon to dinner," Jayson said from the doorway to the patio. Seeing Angie enjoying the strawberries so much made Jayson want to watch her for a bit before making her presence known. Angie had arrived to the mansion shortly before she and Violey came to the front gates over four years ago. The little color-changing girl made Xavier's more welcoming due to her presence. Being around her made Jayson happy. It also made her want to protect Angie from the dangers in the outside world. Having so many step-cousins gave Jayson the want to be the best aunt in world to any child regardless of not really being family. Well, if the kid was likable, that is.

"How about I make something quick that won't fill you up." Jayson walked into the kitchen. She had been outside helping a few students train. "Maybe mac 'n cheese?" Seeing Angie change her color to that of a strawberry made Jayson smile. It also made her realize that Angie might want more strawberries after eating some real dinner.

"Maybe I'll bake some cookies or muffins, too," she stated more to herself than to Angie. Not removing her gloves Jayson went straight to preparing the mac 'n cheese. She did not wait for Angie to agree to having that for dinner because, now that she suggested it, Jayson really wanted some cheesy goodness for herself. A pot was filled with water and placed on the stove so it could go to a boil.

"So, what have you been up to lately?" Jayson asked. When was the last time she spoke to Angie? As usual Jayson got too caught up in watching for troublemakers or training or X-men stuff to stop and have a real conversation with anyone. Let alone talk with the color-changing kid since Angie wasn't really a troublemaker.

Angie jumped a little in surprise, flashing pink for a moment as she did, then looked up at Jayson and smiled, turning yellow again as she saw the woman. They'd arrived pretty close to each other, so they'd had a few chances to get to know each other while getting used to the school. She really liked Jayson because of that. She was nice, too, so that was a plus. After a moment, she looked down at the strawberry and smiled.

"I like Strawberries. I wanna have them at every meal."

She looked up as Jayson offered to make her something to eat and she grinned, turning a deeper yellow. At the offer of Mac'n'cheese, her grin widened and she nodded.

"Sounds great! Can I put real cheese in?"

She hopped up and ran over, looking over the stove as she started boiling the pasta. She grinned and ran over to the fridge, grabbing some shredded cheese out of one of the drawers, running back over and setting it on the counter. Then came mention of cookies and she looked up, her eyes lit up in excitement as she smiled. Then Jayson asked her what she was up to and she shrugged a little.

"Dunno. Classes. Tryin' to get better with my power. How'bout you?"

She looked up at Jayson, smiling as she waited for an answer.

Angie changed colors momentarily to pink before turning yellow. A quick smile formed on Jayson's face. She'd startled the girl. It amused her slightly.

"Well, I have no objections to that," Jayson said giving what Angie could interpret as permission to having strawberries for every meal. They, after all, were delicious and full of vitamin C, too.

So, yes, the stone-turner was happy that Angie agreed to having mac 'n cheese. However, she stared as if surprised at the suggestion of putting real cheese in it. "Um, I was going to cook Kraft," she explained holding out the blue box of mac 'n cheese she'd just taken from the cupboard. "But, I can try to make it with real cheese." Jayson returned the box back to the cupboard. "I'll give it a shot." She more or less repeated herself as she took out a plain box of elbow macaroni. The pasta started to boil in no time.

Being around Angie made Jayson wear a genuine smile. "So, if I destroy dinner, at least we'll know the dessert will taste good," she said with a laugh and a wink to Angie. Baking was more her art than cooking. Though, muffins were her specialty. Cookies did hold a close second, however.

A cookie sheet and the ingredients were taken from the their respective places and placed on the counter. Jayson's goal was to get the cookies in the oven before the mac 'n cheese was ready. She allowed Angie to mix the cookie dough once the ingredients were in the bowl. The best dessert was the one made from scratch.

"The same," Jayson said answering Angie's inquiry. "Though I should probably register for college for the fall." She gave another laugh. College really wasn't a priority for her at the moment.

"Can you keep a secret?" she suddenly asked Angie. "I think I may be gettin' stronger but it's inconclusive at the moment. Need to have my powers reevaluated."

Knowing the macaroni was almost done, Jayson grabbed a strainer to drain the water out. "I can see your powers are gettin' better, too" Jayson said turning back to Angie. "You make a cute looking strawberry."

Angie giggled at Jayson's comment on the strawberries and looked up as she started grabbing what they needed for the macaroni. She grabbed a stool and climbed up on top of it, watching as the water boiled. Angie liked cooking, it was fun to watch things become edible from heat. Then she started working on cookie dough and grinned, taking the bowl and starting to mix. She rarely made cookies, but she always had fun making them. They rolled the dough out and she grabbed some cookie cutters, holding the shapes up to her for approval as she grinned.

As she started talking about college, she cocked her head to the side, listening with interest. She wondered what it was like to be old enough to be in college. She knew a lot of the people who went there were really smart. She wanted to be smart. Then Jayson offered her a secret and she looked up, grinning and listening closely. She grinned a little at the revealed secret and she giggled a little. She hadn't seen Jayson's powers in a while, but she knew they were really cool. Then Jayson complimented her powers and Angie beamed happily.

"I like changing colors. It's really fun. It'll be even more fun when I can disappear."

She giggled a little and concentrated, turning into one of the designs she'd learned in the Danger Room for a moment before returning to her usual yellow.

It was the time of the day where her stomach was empty and usually growled at her. Maybe it was time to walk into the kitchen and fill her belly before she got to eat some real food. Today was a quite day and she casually was wearing her striped pajamas, the yellow and green ones. Opening the kitchen door, while slightly rubbing her belly, Clarice noticed two other people occupying the room. They were both girls; one seemed to be around the same age and her, and the other was one of the few people that Clarice already knew, Angie. She first met Angie through Rahne. A little girl as sweet as her... how could you not think she was adorable? Especially when she could change colors, Clarice always let out a giggle when she turned pink.

Taking a few more steps into the kitchen, she saw strawberries and whipped cream on the table. Subtly, she licked her lips and smelled boiling water. Well, hot water doesn't really have a scent to it, but she did see a pot of water on top of a lit stove. The box besides them on the counter revealed that they were making mac n cheese, possibly? That also sound good. Clarice watched Angie start on mixing cookie dough... cookies too? Strawberries and cream? Mac n cheese? Cookies? The institute had everything!

It was clear to her that she made her presence noticeable, "Oh, sorry. Just a little hungry, and I don't think my stomach can wait for dinner any longer." Clarice laughed and sat down on a chair from the table. Crossing her arms on top of the table, she smiled and looked at Angie. "Hey, Angie. What kind of cookies are you making there?" Before waiting for a reply, she thought it was rude not to speak to the other girl. "You're name is Jayson, right? I've seen you around before, but I don't think we've really met."

Clarice wasn't the one to really put herself out in the crowd, but she had to try and engage with other people. The whole institute was filled with mutants anyways, there were no threats or harm in her path. There was nothing to be afraid of. If she felt like an outsider, that was only because she was making herself known.
