Time of day: 4 PM
Place in the time-line: July 6th [Tuesday]

It was two months since it had begun, a month since he'd admitted that it was happening. It never lasted for long, but it was enough to keep the blond young man a little on edge, a little worried, not knowing if the next time would be the last- with him stuck on the other side. He didn't like the sound of his other self. Damn body thieves from another world... Anyway, for a while Kel had been keeping to himself, avoiding people, and pretty much hiding in his room. Meanwhile, he stressed himself out worse, doing nothing about the problem, and worried his friends. Which needed to stop immediately.

All that was why he was down at the pool for the first time that summer, looking terribly pale though hardly out of shape. Though he was avoiding the danger room still, it wasn't like he'd let himself get out of shape after all that training. Jayson would so kick his ass. Time for some fun, whether he liked it or not. Music, soda, and snacks. Swim trunks and a towel.

Turning the music on (anyone who disliked Blink 182 could bite him), he left the rest of his things on a lounge chair and headed for the high diving board. There weren't any students at the pool yet, which was fine with him. Especially since some people couldn't seem to understand 'get out of my way or I'm gonna land on you!'

Standing at the top of the diving board, he made a face at the empty pool. Last time he was in it, some guy had turned into water and had seriously grossed Kel out. Boundaries! People need them. But he couldn't think about that if he was going to get into that pool, like, ever again. So he shook that trauma off and did a cannon ball. Because, sure he looked like a girly bitch, but silly dives just weren't as fun as splashing everything in the general vicinity.

Douglas had only just gotten to the school, he hadn't really talked to anyone yet. He needed to get back near some water, he just wanted to swim a bit, he loved to swim. They way the water moved around him made him feel weightless. It comforted him. It made everything so calm.

He walked through the locker room and changed into his trunks. They were black with a grey pattern, he looked into a mirror at his body. He had been Caucasian once, normal skin, Italian skin. Now he had skin that was green. He placed a hand on his own stomach, feeling himself, he still wondered if it was all real, was he living a dream?

He picked up his black towel and swung it around his neck. and walked to the pool. He came out to the sound of someone jumping off the diving board. He took a step out the door and was greeted by a splash. It didn't hit him, but it sloshed around the pool quite a bit. He threw his towel on an empty chair nearby and headed to the shallow end. He started to wade in. Feeling the water was fantastic, his heart was pumping a little bit faster. This would be the first person that he really came into contact with. That was assuming the person wouldn't freak out by the fact that Douglas was green. It wouldn't be the first time that he had been ignored due to his appearance. He just hoped that this would be different. That he could meet people at this school who would accept him for who he was.

Tabby was a big fan of summer...

The sun..the nice weather....pool time...tanning! It was the life of a queen and as long as Magneto didn't go on a world ending spree or some other crazy mutant wasn't trying to turn the earth into there own personal meatball or other some such crazy scheme she was free to enjoy it full! She was laying out by the pool in her white with red polka dot bikini. Her eyes were covered in over sized white sunglasses and she was basking in the joys of tanning.

She was vaguely aware someone else had made there way out to the pool but she didn't pay much mind to it. She was lost in her own thoughts and drifting in and out of light naps broken up by the soft buzz of her cell phone to tell her it was time for her to flip to a new side. But her blissful tanning was quickly broken up with the sound of a swoosh then a splash then random cold water. Her body jerked up up in shock from the sudden splash.

“EEEK!”

She let a soft screech out that was more involuntary from the shock then anything but still she shrieked a little. She pulled her sun glasses off and looked around as her eyes caught the slender, compact, well built...boy. She cocked her head a bit as she looked at him in the pool. Then cracked a grin and she adjusted herself into a sitting position pulling her legs up and under her so she was sitting Indian style at pool side.

“Nice form there.”

Whilst Alyson wasn't really a big fan of Summer, she was really big fan of swimming. This was fulfilled here at the institute simply because the school had a swimming pool all to it's own, and it was large enough to hold a decent amount of Student's and X-men. That's mainly how you knew that the pool was large. It had to be. As many people inhabited the mansion, you knew that it was the inevitable. Walking out of the gardens and towards the pool was a young Student; Alyson Hart. Today's classes had ended.. Thankfully. The heat was unbearable.

However, there was something... Different about the psychic the normal. What happened to be different, was, to teach herself a lesson. As of late Alyson had been acting a tad.. Dense, compared to how she normally acted. She blamed the heat, generally.. But we all know that it isn't the heat... Don't we? We do. The now blond was wearing her hair down, and it was slightly messy. She was also wearing a black bikini, and on her feet was a pair of black flip flops. This mainly due to fear of being stung by a bee, she'd never been stung before and she wanted it to stay that way.

One plus about Summer is that it rarely rained, and that meant that she didn't have to keep herself cooped up in her dorm room with Kimmy for almost half of the day manly because the lounge is generally packed with random students. Not that that's a bad thing or anything, it showed how... popular and successful the school actually was. It wasn't like it was just some random boarding school for people that really didn't have an opinion on anything, where the kids just kept to themselves. Here people actually spoke to one another.

...Unless you were either recluse or deadly. Then it wasn't very likely. Alyson chose to be neither, she liked to be as talkative as she possibly could. Now finally, Alyson walked onto the pavement that surrounded the pool area of the mansion. She saw three other people here - only three. Two were other student's, one was new and had just had his first class today. Alyson hadn't met him yet, but she knew it was only a matter of time. The other student was Kel Alther, a friend of Alyson's. It was nice to actually see him out and about for once.

And finally, the third person happened to be a full blown X-man. Tabitha Smith, Boom Boom. This day was certainly going to prove interesting now. Tabitha was known to be a free spirit. "Oh, hey everyone." She said blinking gently as she walked towards the ladder of the pool and slowly climbed into the water... It felt nice in the weather.

However as soon as she fully got herself in the water, she was splashed with a large amount of water and instantly made herself fall under water. Coming back up, she laughed loudly and looked towards the now surfacing Kel. "Nice jump, Kel."

Vic moved around the pool table, knocking the balls around him as he set to a self-assigned task of clearing the board, starting with the one ball and moving up in numerical order. Mental gears quickly assessed the board as Vic calculated backspin, force, and angles before taking a shot. He missed, barely, and moved again.

Movement outside the window caught his eye, and instead of resisting or ignoring it, he allowed his eye to wander. He could see a few people outside in the pool. Catching sight of a woman who looked like she was sunbathing. Near the deep end of the pool. Well, that would not do. Vic needed to learn this woman precisely why one does not linger on the deep end of the pool when one does not wish to get wet.

Dashing back to his room, Vic swiftly changed into his swim trunks and ran back towards the window. He paused for a moment, wondering how safe his action would be, and if he might get in trouble for it.

Deciding that he could place it under the "accept your feral instincts" line Rahne had taught, Vic tossed the window open and leapt out. This little lizard boy had quite a jump, and for anybody that might've seen him, he imagined he looked like something from Tarzan vs. Naruto as he vanished into a tree, almost literally, as he slipped into a mental state that, while directed and controlled, was close to a hunting snake.

Vic was Invisible (well to anybody not paying particularly close attention; he'd blended into his background, the trees) and swift, as he leapt from a tree to a portion of building, then into the pool, a spinning ball of green and blue as he hit the water near Tabitha.

Once underwater, Vic used a hand to ensure he didn't crack his skull against the pool floor, then swam quickly towards and up the side, adopting the color of the pool side he floated against. The camouflaged lizard boy grinned, but remained quiet, even as he caught his breath. Would anybody notice him? Vic wondered if he could get out of the pool unnoticed, so he might be able to do it again.

"EEEK!" Ooops... Looked like he got someone there. Hahaha. Luckily it seemed the blond young woman didn't seem too irritated at being splashed. Smiles all around. “Nice form there.”

"Ah, didn't see you there, sorry," he said with a grin of his own. At her comment he looked at the splash radius. Not bad for his first big splash of the summer. "And, thanks. Thought the splash would have reached further though.." he said thoughtfully, as if considering a do-over. The blond young man grinned when one of his friends joined him in the pool. "Hey Aly, thanks. Done with classes today..?" And then... Kel saw green and was thus instantly distracted from whatever he was thinking and saying.

Seeing green, he always thought one of two people at the mansion. Avery or Vic. Both people he loved to pieces, because seriously they were just awesome people. He pounced first; thinking came after. He frowned at the random guy he'd hugged, and instantly let go of him. Wrong shade of green, too, among a zillion other differences, major and minor. That wasn't embarrassing at all. Hopefully the new guy wasn't upset or anything. He needed to learn a bit of restraint. "...you're not Vic," he said, looking momentarily embarrassed as he swam back a few strokes. The embarrassment quickly faded as he realized; one of the new kids! He grinned. "Sorry 'bout that, kid, thought you were someone else. Eh... hi. Um. Douglas, right? Sorry.."

SPLASH

Kel wiped water from his face. Did... what was... he looked around. There wasn't anyone else... or was there? His grin grew. There were no wet footprints. So. Still in the water. Scanning the surface of the water, it took him a few moments... yep. Right there. Water wasn't moving quite the same way as the waves and ripples from the splashes... Pretending he totally didn't notice, out of no where he lunged at ... nothing. And held on to it, smiling. "Found you."

Douglas had his back turned as the guy from the diving board came up. He really wasn't expecting to get pounced on. Immediately uncomfortable he just stood as stiff as he could. The hug was already too long when it started. This wasn't usually how he met people. It wasn't usually people's first instinct to hug someone that was green.

All Douglas could say was, "Er, ummm. Ehhhhh." and things of that nature to show how uncomfortable he was. He couldn't turn red so his face got a darker green. It was doubly uncomfortable because they were only in swim trunks and Douglas wasn't that comfortable with touching without clothes on. He didn't mind it with some people, but people he was just meeting? That was just a bit too intimate for him.

He immediately swam backwards a bit, "You mistook me for someone else? How? No one ever mistakes me, I'm too green." For a moment he thought the guy might be blind, though as for why a blind person would randomly jump at people, that was beyond him. Then he noticed that the guy was looking around and lacked the creamy white eyes of a blind person.

"I'm Doug." He said in a reserved way. Then there was another splash. Douglas went under the water. It would help his embarrassment. He could stay under longer than a normal person. He let out as much air as he didn't need to reduce his buoyancy and sunk so that he could sit at the bottom of the pool. The water felt so calming and so loving. He opened his eyes and watched the boy that had hugged him go try to tackle something else.

So much for the lazy day at the pool. It went from her, the sun and possible cancer to her and half the student body it seemed. As she recovered from the first splash she watched the young man swim and for lack of a better word huggle some poor green child who looked like he about died from the hug.

“Well that was the most awkward moment of bromantic hugs I have ever seen...”

She said it out loud but not really to anyone but sort of to everyone all at once. Before she could say anymore about it there was another splash out of no where this one made her jump up as there no other bodies jumping..and she wasn't zoned out this time.

“Woah...now who splashed me?”

She jumped up on her feet and made a small ball of plasma and chucked it in the pool and watched as it exploded making a decent size splash radius from her end over towards the kids as a bit of pay back from the splashing she grinned as she sat on the edge of the pool and let her feet dip into the water her eyes taking in the little crowd of people. And she knew none of them...

“So i'm Tabitha...and I now feel like the old women at the hip cool rave party. So how about some names mutes and mutettes?”

"Of course I am Kel. I'd never skip." Aly said smiling, but shortly after that the cheerful blond pounced one of the newer students out of no where. Did he mistake him for Vic or something? Oh well, Aly wouldn't push it one bit. Except for the fact that the kid had this terrified look on his face as he pulled himself away from Kel. Aly felt for him, she really did. I mean... You'd have to be crazy to actually enjoy being hugged by a total stranger whilst wading around the pool. I mean really. Aly smiled gently as she sat at the surface of the pool, then looking around.

It wouldn't kill to go under again, would it? Nope, or at least Alyson didn't think so. Quickly, the blond inhaled and dived under the water. Only about a few seconds later she heard a splash and quickly rose back up to the surface. "Huh?" She said, blinking a bit as she looked down at the bottom of the pool. She could see Douglas sitting there, at the bottom of the pool... And then there was this odd wave. Like some sort of camouflage. Aly grinned a bit, there was only one person she knew that had access to camo in their mutant powers. Victor Borkowski, Anole.

Aly grinned a bit as she saw Kel cling onto what was virtually nothing. Wow, that boy was about as perceptive as she was... And that was a lot, given she was a telepath. However, just as soon as that happened something that glowed gold in color hit the surface of the water, only to explode about three times later and splash everyone in the pool. Aly turned around quickly to see the X-man that had been tanning now standing over the pool, yup, it was definitely Boom Boom.

"Well, you are the hip cool old lady." She grinned a bit and looked up to the woman. "My name's Alyson." She said, stretching a bit. Tabitha was now sitting on the ledge of the pool... Really? Aly grinned a bit and pointed at Tabby, and slightly after she lifted off the ground and moved above the pool... Only to be dropped into the water.

Kane hated water down right detested it as it made him weaker, human. However he had liked to swim before his powers had emerged. Kane was a pretty strong swimmer it was his ability to trust no one would sneak up on him that made him not want to go into the water.

It had been since his wife Jo had died that he had become less likely to go swimming, of course he still had showers and baths but only when he was in a safe environment. He had decided to go to the pool because it was a nice day and he was thinking of facing his fear of water head on now that they where in a war situation. He had been on his way to the pool when he heard voices and talking out by the pool, then he froze, he didn't know if we would be welcome with them as he hadn't been the most team orientated person, he normally trained and ate alone, the only thing that made him look like he was part of the X men was his power.

As he walked over to the pool he saw an inflatible pool ball and picked the ball up with one hand and threw it towards the pool.

"Head's up," he shouted and the ball which had been thrown with superstrength hit the water with force causing the water to splash up "whoops."

Vic turned at Tabitha's exclamation, just so he could see a bright yellow orb in her hand. Oh, wait. She's tossing it at the pool. Vic wasn't sure what it was supposed to do, but he figured that in any case, except electricity, he'd be safest beneath the water. He still felt the explosion through the water, though, and was glad the X-woman couldn't see him, else he might've caught one of those with his face.

Returning to the surface, Vic took a moment to take note of the others around him, and smiled an invisible smile at Kel hugging the new green kid in town. Vic had just turned to heft himself out of the pool for a second go when arms appeared around him, and he made an odd yelping sound in his surprise.

Since he was caught, camouflage was a moot point, and so he returned to his natural colors.

"How'd you manage that? I thought I'd honed my ninja skills to near perfection." Vic spoke as he twisted around to return Kel's hug. Obviously his skills in the art of the sneaky weren't as awesome as he'd thought.

Fast movement caught Vic's eye, and he responded immediately, only to pull back when he realized the lack of threat. The pool ball soared through the air, and Vic's tongue shot outward, pulling the ball into his waiting hand.

"What's this? A sneak attack?" Vic's voice was thick woth good natured mockery. "Good sir, You'll need to find a new shtick. I'm the resident rogue of this here pool." Yea, Vic knew D&D. What of it?

"Man trust me," Kane said "if that was an attack you would know about it because i wouldn't have shouted heads up."

Kane realised it wasn't the best thing to say but it was true, it hadn't been his intention to hurt anyone just the ball had over shot the distance he thought it would travel, which was the problem when someone has superstrength, they truly didn't know their own strength.

"I am new around here," Kane said "my name is Kane Tate or Titan if you want to call me that instead, so what everyone's just hanging around by the pool today? I am surely training would be a better use of your time?" then he walked over and sat on a chair to prove he wasn't serious but he had a slight smirk on his face as he watched them.

"Yeah... I think we met last week," Kel said to Doug, apologetically. "And, green... not so uncommon. We've got at least two guys here that are blue... and I think you're the third person to arrive who's green. At least. And I'd, sorta, hadn't remembered since we just met once.." he mumbled with a shrug. So he really needed to stop and think before acting. Hadn't he learned that before? Like, several times over?

Kel's eyes widened when Tabby through something into the pool. He wasn't sure... he tried to keep tabs... haha tabs.. on the residents of the mansion but he couldn't for the life of him remember her powers. The explodey-splash would have drenched him if he hadn't already been soaked. As it was he just splashed her back. He didn't notice that the boy had vanished underwater; he'd been distracted by Vic by then.

“So I'm Tabitha... and I now feel like the old women at the hip cool rave party. So how about some names mutes and mutettes?”

"Oh, not so old," Kel told her. "You can't be that much older than me, and I am not old, therefore you are not old," he said with a friendly grin. "I'm Kel. Kelrian, actually but whatever. Oh- Aly!" he began, then laughed when the younger student used her TK to pull the other girl into the water. Oh, man. He was so not getting involved in that. They could sort it out themselves. Or not.

Kel was a little surprised that Vic was taken by surprise, not to mention the sound that escaped him. Then again he was lucky that he didn't poke his friend in the eye or something, trying to hug him when he was camouflaged... he didn't, did he? Oh he hoped not. Vic would have mentioned it wouldn't he have?

He smiled when Vic twisted around and hugged him back, losing the camo, and replied to his question with a quiet, "Ripples. Remember in water, there will be ripples and waves, and... well, I've got practice don't I? And you would've left wet footprints. Next time maybe you won't get caught.." It had helped Kel that he'd had Vic on the brain, though, when there had been the unexpected splash caused by nothing. If it hadn't been for that, he'd probably had expected a hydro-kinetic..

The blond glanced up when someone said 'heads up' and saw a ball splash the water with great force, skidding across the surface a bit - and then Vic's tongue went and grabbed it. Oh yuck that guy had just kicked it... at least the water probably washed the gross off it. His friend's banter however made him grin. And, as an afterthought, he let go of him. It probably wasn't appropriate to be clinging to people in the pool like that. Yes, even Kel realized that after a point.

His eyes narrowed at the guy. The only reason he was on the team was his powers, and they in Kel's opinion lacked control. Or maybe that was just the person who possessed them. "New? Sorry man, haven't you been new here for at least a year. Just 'cause you've been anti-social does not make you new," he said with a roll of his eyes. "Since you didn't bother to learn anyone's names in the last year, I'm Kelrian, but you can call me Regen." That was new; he almost never asked people to refer to him by his codename.

And he would have left it at that. He really would have. Except that 'Titan' continued speaking. And the words coming out of his mouth really ticked the blond off. "Seriously man? Fuck off. People don't spend twenty four hours a day studying and training, that just isn't healthy. Anyway, this isn't a fucking boot-camp, its a school, and... whatever." He turned his attention away from the guy. He didn't need to get defensive. He spent a shit load of time training, he did night security, and... he did more than that prick. He glared at something at the bottom the pool. Yeah, that had officially killed Kel's overly happy mood. And his interest in messing around in the pool for that matter. He kinda wanted to go for a jog to de-stress..

Douglas sat at the bottom of the pool quite contently, sure he couldn't breathe, that was an issue to deal with soon. Air seemed a silly necessity after being awkwardly hugged. He really didn't want to go back to the surface. He watched the trussing of water up at the surface. So much movement. He saw Aly come down and look at him, he'd met her the week before.

He thought about what Kel said to him before he had gone under, that he wasn't the only green person around. He'd like to meet the other people. that'd be cool. It would make him feel more comfortable to know other people who had physical mutations.

With the first concussion of water being attacked by Kel, Doug felt a bit relieved, for some reason. It seemed as if Kel would hug anything. The second blast from the water came from a glowing ball. That one was scary. He pressed as deep as he could to the bottom of the pool after that one. The third pounding of the water came from a ball. He really didn't want to come up from the water to be faced with some battle, but he was running low on air and needed to surface. So he stood up and pushed his way to the surface.

He took a breath of new clean air, pushed his hair out of his eyes, and felt a lot better. Though the Kel's mood had seemed to switch, there was some new guy here. Doug swam over to Aly, since she was one of the few people he had met. She was pulling a woman into the pool. Doug didn't care, he wanted to know what was going on.

"What happened?" Doug whispered to Alyson, "Why does everything seem really tense?" Kel was getting mad at this guy, the guy looked mean too. He wished that he could be with his plants where he felt safer. He didn't like trouble. He was an adventurer and a peacemaker, not a fighter. He hated it when these kinds of things came up. It really ruined the mood. Doug would even have accepted another hug if it would have made things better.

Tabitha felt her body lift off the ground as she looked around and saw herself moving towards the pool she quickly grabbed her nose and shut her eyes as she knew what was about to happen...as a trouble maker herself there was only one way this was going to end and that was with her wet and in the pool! As she popped up she ducked back under the water to avoid the long tongue of Anole that was shooting past her to catch the ball. She resurfaced and spit some water from her mouth as she hacked a lung up listening to the exchange between the X-mens local hermit who made Logan look like a social butterfly and the kids.

"Man trust me," Kane said "if that was an attack you would know about it because i wouldn't have shouted heads up."

And then Kel... this was not going well and making vailed threats at students did not sit well with Tabitha at all.

"New? Sorry man, haven't you been new here for at least a year. Just 'cause you've been anti-social does not make you new,"

It was like watching verbal volly-ball and it was going no where good at all and Tabitha let a sigh out as she clenched her fists under the water. If this kept up she would have to pull rank and set everyone straight...she wasn't sure if she had rank but she was pretty sure she had the must time at the school out of the triad...cept maybe Kel but he was still a student so she had rank with him either way.

"my name is Kane Tate or Titan if you want to call me that instead, so what everyone's just hanging around by the pool today? I am surely training would be a better use of your time?"

She went to talk but before she got to far into Kel was already lashing out again...all Tabitha could think was temper temper. Though she couldn't blame him given a vialed threat was just made at him.

"Seriously man? Fuck off. People don't spend twenty four hours a day studying and training, that just isn't healthy. Anyway, this isn't a fucking boot-camp, its a school, and... whatever."

She was pretty sure Kel was done so she pushed herself up on the side of the water and looked at the group of them and let another sigh out as she put her hands on her hips standing in her polka dot bikini cause really what could be more suitable for setting order then being dripping wet and half naked?

“Kel thats enough...he might be a hermit, never talk to us, spend all his time alone in his room with lights off and does who knows what but he is still an X-men and you know the whole respect your elders speech that Scott will lay into you for...trust me it's not want you want.”

Now that she was done playing good adult her eyes turned to Kane who was lounging in a chair...Tabitha may not have been the most respected X-man, the most useful staffer or even the smartest girl in the school. And she was all for trouble and fun....but this guy was out of line. Making a threat at a student even if you claim to just be joking over it is not cool by any stretch of the imagination.

“As for you Mister Kane. You have no excuse...I don't care if your gold fish died, your mom just turned out to be hitler or your wife to be is cheating on you with a mutant who had goo for a dick. You are an X-men and I'll be damned if I let a self loathing bastered tarnish that name. You do not make threats at students even if they are hidden behind a wink and a smile. That is tasteless and immature. Even Logan doesn't go around getting all stabby on students...despite how much they may deserve it! When you signed up to be part of this you signed up to be an example, a mutant people can look up to, a man who shows the world that hey we are not all bucket heads who want to kill you! When you put that X on you were saying I want to be part of something bigger then myself and make the world something better. And if your too torn and full of yourself to commit to that and do what it takes then maybe you should pack your bags and leave...cause frankly to me you seem like a spoiled, gassed up over powered child then a shining symbol of mutant hope....”

She folded her arms across her mid section and gave him a death glare. She was not going to settle for this and if no one was going to teach this guy what it meant to be a X-men she was more then happy to melt his tin foil ass down to size.
