"Well...I don't think she's that bad..." Jay commented nonchalantly on the topic of Alyson. He really didn't, but he didn't know her that well either. He's seen her in the hallways, talked to her that one time at the lake, and then had a little jam session with her and Clarice. She seemed nice enough, albeit a bit bossy on occasions, and maybe a little stuck on herself.

"Well, she didn't have a career before becoming a mutant." Jay commented. "But...I'm not sure if I should be telling you this, but she told me she actually lost her brother when she became a mutant, he was one too but went crazy or something." Vincent commented. "She ain't really that bad...but to each their own." Jay shrugged

"But, I do know about the whole the higher you are the farther you fall...my codename represents that." He said softly to her. "Icarus was the boy who flew so high that his wings and body were burnt by the sun and then he fell back to Earth and died..." He took a breath. "I had everything I could ever want back then. A loving family, good friends, a job that was awesome, local fame, a girlfriend, a band, and I didn't have to hide who I was...and in one instant I loss pretty much everything." He said softly. "Her racist father who's hated our family for god knows how long found out we were dating, and he somehow got some power suit or something and well...I think I died." He took another breath, his tongue licking his drying lips before he spoke again. "My girlfriend found me 'dead', and well...she killed herself by drowning herself with me in her arms in our favorite lake...I came too underwater, but things didn't go so well."

It was a very intimate detail that he didn't really tell anyone, and anyone other than Kimmy, they found out through someone else. "And I tried to kill myself multiple times after that happened, but I always healed. Then I turned to other things like drugs, and a bunch of other things to try and numb everything. But, as the saying goes, "Time heals all wounds", and I think I'm finally healed, or close to it."

He looked at her with a slight hint of sadness in his eyes before smiling. "I think you're the first person I've actually told the whole story too..."

Kim stood there quietly. Absorbing the entire story and processing it. It was allot to take in but she was a good listener. She knew everyone had their own little dramatic back-story. Being a teenager wasnt easy to begin with, toss mutations into that melting pot of hormones and emotions and you had a recipe for disaster. For Jay it appeared, it couldn't be more true. She bit down on her lip once his story finished. She had been through plenty but what could she possibly say to that? It made her feel a little bit more vapid than usual.

"I think you're the first person I've actually told the whole story too..."

"Well, I am glad. Sounds like you have been holding that in for a while." She rocked on her heels and looked up to the sky, the sun was setting. The day had gone from good to terrible to better in only the space of a few hours, and it made Kim laugh to herself. The sky wad dyed gold and blue and it cast harsh shadows and overlayed gold over Jay, Kim and the School. With the leaves changing color slowly around them it left the grounds of the school breathtaking.

"I wish I could say more to that, but I just spent a few hours crying because I was being cheated on. Makes me feel a little shallow I guess." She frowned slightly and spun on her heel, looking Jay right in the face. She locked eyes with him for a moment before clearing her throat. "Erm... If you ever need someone to chat with though, you come find me okay?"

"You're not shallow. You've gone through your fair share of troubles as well. I can imagine it'd be hard for anyone to find out that after losing family to go and have your boyfriend or girlfriend cheat on you." Jay stated trying to make her feel not as shallow about her situation. He didn't like people feeling bad, even in situations that were probably their fault in the first place. Not that this was one of those situations.

He looked up to the sky as well remembering what it felt like to be up in it, no problems or cares. He wonder if Kim would like that, to feel and see what he sees. Maybe offer her a glimpse of his world, something that Tommy really couldn't give her.

"I know you're there for me Kimmy, and I'm there for you." Jay said with a smile looking directly into her eyes, not realizing he took a step closer to her closing the distance between the two of them. Once upon a time before she started dating Tommy, he thought she was quite cute and sweet, was she still the same girl? He'd like to believe she was.

"Hey Kim...you wanna see what it is like to fly?" Jay asks her. "It's fine if you don't, I was just curious."

"Hey Kim...you wanna see what it is like to fly?"

Kim smiled softly, she was starting to see where this was going. There was a familiar magnetism, but she wasn't quite ready for it. She wasn't ready to be pulled in again. Not yet. Things with Tommy had always moved so rapidly. Kim had once observed the similarity between people and their powers. Tommy was always fast paced and Kimmy could adapt to it. Now she wanted to be still. For a little while. To be here. She didn't want to send a mixed signal.

She leaned forward and for a moment considered kissing Jay, it felt right. It was also sudden. Instead she gave him a tight hug. He smelt like the forest in a good way. "I think I will get a rain check on that one Icarus. If we move too quickly, we might end up too close to the sun." She smiled at her joke and looked back up into his eyes. She wanted to make sure this bridge was there when she was ready to cross it.

"Mind if I take you up on that offer later? I would love to try sometime soon. I really would."

For the moment it seemed like everything slowed down, and he wondered where things were going. He didn't initially foresee the position that he had put himself in, and then he questioned whether it was bad or not? He liked Kimmy, they had things in common, and she was cute. But more importantly Jay felt good when he was with her, he felt like he could capture what was left of that upbeat smiling 16 year old angel that he once was, only with the wisdom he had now. It wasn't until she closed in closer that he remembered what got them to talking again. It kind of made Jay feel a bit like an ass despite him having the best intentions, it wans't like he planned any of this, it all just started to happen. And it felt right.

He was maybe a little relieved that she hugged him rather than kissed him, he didn't want to put her into any situations that she or maybe even himself may regret later. But he hugged her back tightly, she smelled a bit like strawberries, albeit faded probably because of the day's activities. "Yeah, you're right."Jay responded softly smiling a bit. "Though I'd hope if either us got burned, Mazu, you'd be right there with some water to put the flames out."

He looked back into her eyes again, both of them much closer now then when they were before. "The offer is always out there whenever you want it to be."

She laughed some and let her eyes drift up to the sky, briefly day-dreaming about what it would be like to fly for a moment before returning to earth and turning her back to Jay. "Maybe one day I will take you up on that offer. But for now I am content with my feet on the ground. Easier for me to hear the earth's heartbeat that way." She waved to him with her back still turned. She was not smiling. The thought of moving on from Tommy, the reality of it, it stung for a moment there and she did not want Jay to see it.

She continued towards the school in silence until they reached the front step of the back door and turned to Jay, wearing her same old mask. Smiling even though it hurt inside. "Don't be a stranger. You have my number. Text me." She waved her phone a bit and then unlocked it to see if she had any messages. Maybe something from Tommy. Nothing. She let out a sigh and pocketed the black candybar once again.

"But I am gonna head up to my room and have some quiettime. Maybe take a bath and watch a movie in quiet." She gave him a tight hug and sighed to herself. "Peace." And with that she let herself into the building.
