Vic wasn't entirely pleased with a barely spoken non-denial. Maybe it wasn't so serious as Keren believed, but it was certainly more serious than Kel had initially let on. Glancing around his floor, Vic located the sneakers he'd had on earlier and stood. Apparently, it was unavoidable. "Alright gang, to the infirmary!" Vic spoke as he slipped on some shoes. He'd gotten into the habit of buying his shoes a little large. Just in case his feet were to suddenly find themselves larger than before. Unlikely scenario yes, but one that he'd found the need to prepare for. Just in case. As they made their way into the basement levels of the institute, Vic calmed a bit, and abruptly realized that his burns did actually hurt. Not a lot, but enough that he now wished he'd been a bit more thorough earlier. He didn't worry about it though; there would be something for him to put on it in the infirmary. Vic pushed the door open lightly, stepping into the sterile smelling place as he glanced around for Dr. McCoy or Avery. Not once had he set foot in the place to find it empty. It was as though the small medical staff somehow knew when somebody was about to get hurt. Or maybe they just took shifts or something. That sounded more likely. |

” "If I'm going you're coming with me," “You see that?” he thought in Mal’s direction. “People need to use the buddy system around me. I am such an oaf! By lunch I will have people fleeing the hallways at the site of me. Excellent Keren, just perfectly excellent…maybe I should find a teacher to punch just for good measure.” “Oh goodie!” Replied the soul fragment with mock enthusiasm. “This is just what I need, more fuel for the angst fire.” “Look, I’m really sorry…” He said aloud, ignoring his conscience. Mal had already lost count of how many times Keren had apologized, but it was beginning to get on her nerves. “And I’m sorry for snatching the ointment…and for being bossy.” “Yes dear keep apologizing. If your mission is to kill these two boys, you are really close to harassing them to death.” Mal was nothing if not empathetic. The small group was making their way down to the infirmary with Keren taking up the rear. Now that help was on the way, his initial shock was wearing thin and the only thing left to feel was mega-embarrassment. The teen loathed looking incompetent more than anything, and his freak out only intensified the sensation. His first day at Xavier’s had gone straight to hell…only he could manage to bake his roommate before they even exchanged names. ”The least you could do is to show a little sympathy, or do you always have to be such a snot.” Maybe anger would be better than mortification. ”Sometime you can be completely insufferable…” It wasn’t. Finally the group of boys arrived at the infirmary. The room was under the school, and the trip there was like another tour for Keren. Or rather it would’ve been had he been paying attention instead of sulk-apologizing. The infirmary was spotlessly clean, and there were many intricate looking machines peppered throughout. Keren couldn’t wait to explain the situation to the school nurse. |

Generally it would seem like a waste of time for both him and the staff for him to go to the infirmary, although if there was something that might take days to heal properly he would go down to get it bandaged. That rarely happened unless his training got too rough... Something like this he'd normally ignore, except that it was irritating and not something he could really ignore. It only occurred to him as an afterthought that his friends might not realize that things that could be considered as something quite horrible for them would only be a minor inconvenience for him. Generally he'd try not to bring something up that would make them think things were worse than they were. That is, if it occurred to him at all. Sometimes it slipped his mind that something like this might bother them, let alone that they might be upset that he brushed it off as nothing. It certainly didn't occur to him now that it was a problem. Shortly after Vic had found his shoes and slipped them on, they were on their way down the halls to the infirmary, passing the odd student getting out of morning classes. Otherwise the short trek was quiet and uneventful. "Dr. McCoy? Avery?" Kel queried as he and the other boys entered the domain of the medical professionals. Hopefully one of them was free at the moment, though it probably wouldn't be too bad to wait around a bit. Though. The new boy's nerves might not be able to take it. He'd been apologizing and it seemed agonizing over the situation. Kel wasn't sure what more to say. Attempting to reassure seemed to have the effect opposite of what he intended. He had to force himself not to continue trying to reassure him that everything was fine, and just give the kid a while to deal with it. |

Slender digits poked and prodded at the little rectangular box that she turned in her hands every two seconds. Sweet, dear Hank had given her an arrangement of wooden puzzles in knowing that her mechanical side very much enjoyed picking things apart and putting them back together. He had given her six different puzzle pieces, each very beautiful and interesting. However the box she held in her hands currently was a Japanese puzzle box. There were many steps to be made before it could be opened and she was certain there was something in there, something more of a prize than simply solving the puzzle. Unfortunately there was only one way to find out because Hank's lips were tightly sealed, however this box was testing the very limits of her patience. She loved and hated it all at the same time, and spent days picking it up and putting it down. So for the twentieth time that day she tried to figure out the secret of the box, oddly it was as if she enjoyed being frustrated. Yet it was at that moment she was interrupted from her mostly quiet day, even if quiet days were good days in her books. Hearing the soft swish of the infirmary doors, she pushed her seat away from her desk and moved towards the main room. That was the thing about having keen ears, both she and Hank could be off doing their own thing and still know that someone had arrived for medical attention. Already she could discern how many people who had arrived...however not who they were as their combined shuffling of steps confused her on who was who. That is, until she heard Kel's voice calling out both her and Hank's name. Kel didn't come too often and the surprise and slight worry made her quicken her steps. Turning the corner she indeed found Kel, along with Vic and some other student she was unfamiliar with. Granted his medical documents were already on file and it was possible that Hank had already did his physical; she could probably take a guess on who he was but at the moment his name escaped her. Wearing a pencil skirt and a cream satin camisole under a crisp white lab coat. And today she left her long hunter hair down as wearing scrubs for check ups and minor procedures was not necessary. "Kel....What ha-" She began with a voice full of concern until she came within two feet of the boys to smell the stench on burn fabric, plastic, singed skin and hair. It was both a very distinct and god awful smell. As she hit this scent her words were cut short and her nose wrinkled a little. "Oh good Lord...What the- Ugh! The smell is-...fwah!" Her hand attempted to fan the smell away but to no avail. Seeing that it was Vic and Kel that took the brunt of whatever happened that meant....her violet eyes fell until the new student. "Perhaps you would like to explain what happened while I take care of these two, hmm?" Avery said to Keren, calmly with a smile before she instructed Kel and Vic. She pointed to two medical beds side by side. "Vic, you on that bed. Kel on the other. I know you guys hate being down here so I'll try and be quick." |

Keren sheepishly peered around the spotlessly clean infirmary as if, at any moment, a knife wielding clown in a lab coat would run out and yell BOO! He’d only been at Xavier’s for a few hours, and already he was getting into trouble. The guilt he was feeling planted his feet to ground, he had to be sure all affected parties were okay, but he wanted nothing more than to run out of that door. If his two companions were any indication, this outlook was completely unwarranted. They both strolled the infirmary casually, as if nothing was out of the ordinary. Kel spoke a few names into the seemingly empty rooms. These names were vaguely familiar, for Keren had received a faculty/staff rundown during his time in the Headmaster’s office. As the urge to apologize again threatened to make the words “I’m sorry” bubble out of his mouth, Keren bit down on his cheek. Though neurotic he may be, the boy wasn’t stupid and could tell he was beginning to annoy the two boys. Besides, Keren wasn’t entirely sure to whom he was apologizing anymore…and for what. Finally, a green woman with purple eyes stepped into view. She was professionally dressed, and her kind face smiled down on the boy, until she smelled the Kel’s shirt fragments. While she directed the burn victims onto the hospital beds, she asked Keren to give her the details on the situation. It didn’t occur to him to introduce himself, so he when right into his account. “Well, umm…Kel was showing me around and stuff. When we got my room number, we walked over there. I opened the door and Vic popped out. I was spooked and accidentally burned them. I think Kel got the worst of it since he was nearest…I’m just lucky he is a regen or whatever they call it.” As she explained, he voice shrunk smaller and smaller, until he was speaking in a whisper. “ I didn’t mean to hurt them.” |
