Amara Aquilla
Unregistered

A young student.. One that Amara recognized. She thought his name was Keren.. Though, knowing Amara, it was likely that her memory failed her from time to time, was ordered to go make sure Moira knew. The first thing that came to mind for Amara was, why and how would she know? Unless she were here when it happened, and didn't do anything about it.... Or had a mutation that she didn't know about - she wouldn't! However, contesting a statement made by Wolverine wasn't something that the Nova Roman quite wanted to do. She, and probably everyone that knew of him, knew that it wasn't good for their health.

Amara stayed in place, for the time being. Wolverine was doing his thing.. Inspecting. She didn't want to get in the way, so she simply listened. But, the ideas of what happened continued to go through her mind. Amara was always thinking, at least when it came to important things like these. It was of the things that made her, her. She was always caring... And right about now she was becoming exceedingly worried for both Kevin, and Rahne. Amara didn't know what happened, but she wanted to. She had a few hunches. Such as the reddish-brown fur that she found on the ground, or the rosary that was now in Jack's hands. The possibilities were.... Endless.

Amara glanced up as Wolverine said Jack's name. Perhaps, just perhaps, he were on to something? She was sure that it was nerve wracking that there were about a dozen, if not more, students in the room. The advice that Wolverine gave to Jack was very... True. Jack was no good to anyone if he lost it. Not to Rahne, not to Kevin, not to Logan.. In Amara's eyes, if he were to lose it then it would be best that he backed out of the situation in general. But; Amara knew that he, of all people, wouldn't do that. He loved Rahne. Amara sighed gently and stayed closer to the wall than anything, wondering if she should just stay out of their way or not.

Soon after, though, Logan decided that the students that were crowding both the room and the hallways needed to go. Amara didn't know what he thought, but she figured that it was because it was beginning to get late, AND that it was better for their safety. Not all of the institutes students were aiming to become X-Men. There were even a few Amara could probably name off the top of her head that weren't, but that would only prove a point that didn't need to be made. Especially not to Logan, who probably knew all to well who was and who wasn't training to becoming an X-Man. He was part of the staff as well.

Suddenly, a voice called from outside. It was Warpath, calling Logan out to him. Logan then issued orders to Jeb Guthrie, and Blink, only to get to Magma. This made Amara stiffen up a bit. "Of course." Amara commented, following behind Wolverine as he exited the room. She wasn't at his heels, but she was close enough behind him so that she wouldn't lose the feral. Going all throughout the mansion, until they were outside - nearly outside the window of Kevin's room - they arrived at Warpath's position. "Warpath.." Amara whispered.

"What'd ya find?"

Teleportation Portals
As the situation became more crowded and heated, Clarice's breathing grew a bit heavy. She was still a young adult and never had experienced an incident so sudden as of the current. Seeing Rahne as an older sister to her, Clarice definitely did not want anything bad to happen, she would not be able to forgive herself. While she pondered that thought, she realized that it was not her fault, but it was also a first reaction of most persons. They usually filled themselves with guilt, blaming actions on themselves for things they know that they did not commit. It left Clarice confused, it would just be very depressing if Rahne never came back.

Clarice was the furthest from being inside the room, as she was still next to the doorway. She did not want to enter, it would have caused more havoc with crowding the room; one could even say, the crime scene. Her father used to watch a lot of those crime investigation shows on television; however, she never directly watched it herself, she still knew that it was bad to mess with the crime scene, giving the detective false answers and items. In a few seconds, she saw the always rugged Logan enter and the dark-toned Josh following along. Both Jean and Scott were out, they always knew what to do. Well, at least I think they do/

Answering Amara's question, "Oh, I... I"m okay." When she really wasn't, she just didn't want to heat the situation up anymore. She looked at her hand and noticed that there was still blood dripping from the cut; realizing that she had touched her face, making it look like her head was bleeding. The quickly appearing Keren had been ordered by Logan to alert Moira MacTaggert. Clarice thought that it was a wonderful idea, and didn't know why she hadn't thought about that the moment she stepped onto the scene. Answering Logan's question, "No, I just got here."

Behind her, she could hear Jeb asking what had happened, along with other students quickly arriving to see anything. She simply looked up at him and everyone else and shook her head no. James and Josh had quickly brought Kevin to the infirmary as Keren left to alert Moira. At least some things were getting handled quickly enough. Leaning against the outside wall, she started to slip down on to the floor, in a slumped sitting state. Glancing into the room, she still saw a distraught Jack. It was hard to imagine what was running through his mind right now, he just wants Rahne back. Like we all do.

A few moments later, she could hear a deep and loud call to Logan from below the window. It was James ordering both Jack and Logan to get down their as soon as possible. After that call, Logan started giving orders to everyone that was still in the room. Telling Jeb to clear the hallways, he then told Clarice to go outside and find out if there were any witnesses. This was one of the first things that made Clarice feel important. At first, she hesitated, but quickly came to her sense. Jumping up off of her feet, she created a portal and blinked to the grounds outside.

With a rushed teleportation, she landed unbalanced. Keeping focused, she looked around the area to see if any students were nearby. Seeing James, Logan, and Jack all gathering around directly below the window area, she knew that they could handle that. Turning around, she saw a student huddled another on whom was on the floor. Running to them, she noticed that the person on the floor was having a seizure. The next thing she sees is that there's a small piece of glass stuck in their head. Looking back, she remembered that the window was shattered. It must have been a very strong shatter that caused a piece of glass flying into someone's head.

"Oh, god!" Not knowing what to do, she tried to calm the victim down. The other student cried for help, giving Clarice the action of teleporting them to the infirmary. Blinking them through her pink portal, they finally made it their. Seeing Josh examining Kevin, she looked around to find another bed. Trying to handle the seizure-stated student with the glass-to-head injury, she shouted out, "Doctor! I need a doctor here." A nurse suddenly came to her side and she helped her put the student onto the bed. Turning to the other student, who seemed to be a young girl, Clarice wanted to ask some questions.

Seeing that the girl seemed really shocked, Clarice laid her hands on her shoulders. "I need you to tell me if you saw anything? A teacher is missing, and..." Pointing over to the bed where Kevin lay, "Anything that you may have seem might of hurt that boy." The young girl still hadn't answered her. "We need to know if you saw anything." Clarice said with a slight demanding voice, in which she had never used before.

Shivering with fear and shock, the girl started to speak... but with a very heavy stutter. "I....I..I... sa---" She couldn't complete her sentence as she looked over at the student on the bead, most likely her friend. Slowly, tears raced down her cheek, "My fr...friend got hurt. We, we heard a b..boom, knocking us both back... then, then the glass." The girl couldn't speak no more as she was too distracted by what had happened to her and her friend.

Clarice didn't want to strip that emotion from her, but she wanted to make sure she did what Logan told her. "They are helping your friend as best as they can, but we really need to know if you saw anything. Anything. Anything at all." She slowly breathed in and out, waiting for an answer.

Protective Blast Field/Flight
Days like this tended to be the day that Sam was most likely to die of boredom. No missions to be fight for, no juicy gossip, and worst of all, nothing on TV. It seemed the only fun thing to do anymore was to fly around the Breakstone lake, and even that was not on his super exciting stuff list.

Nonetheless, though, it was indeed something to do. The bumpkin equipped himself with his fancy goggles, aerodynamic suit, and ass kicking boots, and was soon at the beach and off and away. Despite it being past sunset by this time, the dark proved to be yet another adventure that he had not explored to its full extent in his many years of mutanthood. There were, of course, the missions from time to time that were annoyingly at night, making them all the more creepy, but things were more relaxing when there weren't people shooting lasers or fire balls at you.

Anyways, the bumpkin went along enjoying his night flight, the only illumination being the half- sun, half- moonlight's reflection upon the lake and his blast field's combustion- produced flight. The young man spent the night focusing on barrel rolls, spinning around, and keeping a safe yet dangerous distance from the water, in case he ever decided to impress a girl by flying her on his back, though he stopped this after realizing that he was not a magic carpet.

Feeling a bit tuckered out from the strenuous workout, the young man decided it was time for a break, if not for the cool down. Due to his lassitude, he felt it appropriate to give his poor blast field a rest by opting to walk rather than fly back to the main doors of the Institute, however he almost immediately felt the effects of velocitation wearing off and soon decided that getting around the good old fashioned way was far too boring compared to the rush involved in flying. This, of course, forced the bumpkin to stay resilient against the exhaustion that was setting in, but it was but a small price to pay to defy gravity.

Approaching the Institute, the young man saw a bit of a movement from the staff wing of the school out of his peripheral, however, after looking back over a few moments later, he decided that it was nothing. Getting even closer, he noticed that the lights were out.

This, of course, was out of the ordinary; why in the hell would the lights be out at 8:30? The only logical explanation (or as close to logical as one could get at the Xavier Institute) was that the power had gone out. The young man rolled his eyes as he approached it, annoyed that he had not been there early enough to grab a flashlight. Seemed that he'd have to navigate with an occasional flash from his blast field as he had done only once before. It was a pain then and it would prove to be one again today. Sam of course would have to be extra cautious, him living at a school and all...but fire and caution didn't really go together, thus proving his method of illumination being a pain.

Sam dropped down to the ground level, only to find the hallways looking a bit hectic; kids were running about a bit freaked. A bit of playing detective led the bumpkin to the staff rooms, but naught more than that cleared things up for him. His general understanding was this: someone did something in the staff rooms to cause an explosion that turned off the power. It didn't seem that big of a deal, as the generators would soon restore the lights.

It seemed, however, that by the time he got to the staff rooms, his understanding of the event was less and less harmless; the people approaching the wing seemed more freaked out and the longer it took for the generators to kick in, shit seemed crazier. The largest gathering seemed to be outside Rahne's room, and the bumpkin poked his head in to see several of his teammates already on the scene. "Guys, someone, what the hell's--" The man turned to see his brother standing there, and immediately swallowed awkwardly. "Heck's going on? Where's Rahne?"

There were a few unspoken rules at the mansion, one of the most important being, always listen to Wolverine. So when Logan said clear the hallways, you cleared the hallways and scrubbed them too- for good measures of course. He wanted to talk to Keren, but he had already run off to do as Logan said. It was all-good though, because Sam took his place.

“Ah, dunno, the lights-“

He tried to answer his brother’s question, but was cut off when Logan told him to go down to the infirmary. Without a second thought he obeyed, ignoring his brother, fearing Wolverine’s wrath more than politeness towards his sibling.

Before running off to meet the orders of the intimidating X-man, Jeb paused for a very quick moment. Trying to get a few more details from the scene. If nothing else it would make for good gossip with the others. He didn’t stand around very long though, not wanting to get into any sort of trouble. Sticking around just long enough to hear Wolverine mention, Rahne had gone missing. As soon as he finished Jeb booked it down the hallway. Relaying Logan’s message to anyone he ran into, and adding his own and adding his own spin on his words to make them more threatening. Things like ‘Logan says in your room or he will make you scrub the pool with a toothbrush’ and ‘or he’ll sent your pinky in a box to your parents.’ Anything to get the blood rushing.

All the while he couldn’t help but wonder what had occurred in Kevin’s room. They talked about finding Ms. Sinclair, so where could she have gone? She couldn’t have flipped a shit and run off or her brother would be in ribbons. Kidnapped? Maybe. But it seemed liked s stretch with all the security around, though it wasn’t like the X-men hadn’t seen stranger. There was broken glass, could she have fallen out the window? No, then Kevin wouldn’t be hurt. Which brought him back to the idea that Wolfsbane had been kidnapped. It didn’t make total sense but with Jeb’s limited knowledge it had the most validity.

Continuing to mull the idea over as he cleared the lounges and halls, making his way to the institute’s lowest floors. It didn’t take too long to relay the message, many of the other students having already locked themselves in their rooms to study and do homework. Only being held up in the cafeteria, by those who insisted on staying to finish eating. But before long they too had moved up to their rooms and Jeb could continue on to the infirmary.

Unlike the rest of the school, the infirmary tended to be nice and quiet. It wasn’t every day that there was a medical emergency. He felt like he should whisper, and make as little noise as possible, as if they were in a library. His eyes immediately locked on Josh, the only one who looked like he was doing something pressingly important. Making very little noise he stood some fifteen feet behind the older mutant, not wanting to disrupt whatever it was he was doing. He wanted to ask what had happened, but guessed Josh had about the same amount of knowledge as he.

All Jeb could think about was how uncomfortable he felt standing there. He felt like he was in the way, though no one had tried to get past him. Shifting his weight from one foot to another waiting for some sort of instructions from Heaven on what to do next. Logan had told him to come down here, and now that Jeb was in the medical center, he felt lost without further instructions. After a few moments of waiting, he decided to stop standing around and padded next to Josh, as his examination of Kevin paused.

“So what’s wrong with him?” He asked stupidly, as if Josh was going to be able to give him a diagnosis after just sticking his hands on the kid. He didn’t look up as he spoke, instead his gaze falling on Kevin’s bare chest, while the nurse hooked him up to some sort of medical monitor. Jeb felt like he should say something more intelligent to Josh, as he seemed to be taking the lead on Kevin’s condition.

“Ah think, somethin’s wrong with Ms. Sinclair, Josh. Mr. Logan said somethin' about goin’ to find her.” He added trying to give him some sort of clue as to what was going on upstairs. Only knowing Josh’s name because he was an X-man.

He had barely finished the sentence when Clarice burst in, obviously in a panic and calling for a doctor. Something that Jeb very obviously, was not. Standing rather dumbfounded at the bed, not sure what to make of what on earth she was going on about.

As the laboratory door swooshed open, Keren had to practically dive out of Dr. McTaggart’s way. Understandably, she was frightened and full of haste. Keren and Mal may have conveyed their message in a rather dramatic flourish, but it got the point across quickly. Mal flew out of the laboratory on the doctor’s heels, simultaneously shifting into her ethereal form. After Keren narrowly avoided being bowled over, the small group quickly made their way to the infirmary.

“Do you know where Rahne is?” he asked the doctor breathily, as their heels clicked smartly on the hard floors. “If you want I could find her too…tell her what’s up.”

It seemed James had already deposited the boy and left infirmary, to do what Keren didn’t know. When he arrived Josh, one of the medical staffers, was taking control of the situation. Kevin was already being hooked up to all sorts of beeping and flashing equipment. As he lay there the boy eerily looked like a cadaver, his shallow breaths barely detectable. Josh, for his part, looked worried. He was doing some mutant mumbo-jumbo when he leapt away from the unconscious body, muttering all the while.

Suddenly Keren felt superfluous, he’d completed his task and now had no business here. He was just about to leave when he ran into Jeb again. Apparently Mr. Logan was passing out orders like hotcakes. Furrowing his brow, Keren gave the boy a look that said “What are you doing here?” And he would’ve asked as much as well had Clarice not just blinked into the middle of the room. The teleporter seemed to have ported in pure chaos as she shouted for a doctor. Shifting for a better view Keren, saw that she was toting two other students through her pink portal.

“What in hell…?” he muttered, for he saw the sliver of glass protruding from the kid’s skull. “What is going on today?” His first thought was that the glass was unrelated, for he hadn’t seen anyone outside the window when he was there. However, he did see Blink inside the room…so where else could the student have come from? Frankly, he couldn’t make sense of it all. “What happened after I left?” he asked Jeb. “For that matter what happened before I left…?” The real mystery was the explosion, and how Kevin survived it. Keren had assumed he was human, like his mother. And he hadn’t seen Wolfsbane’s hairs and rosary, so he was under the impression that was simply elsewhere and not missing. “Isn’t it weird that Rahne isn’t here, she is usually the first person on the scene…”

Unsure of what to do, Keren stood in the room awkwardly waiting on someone…anyone to give him instructions. Staying out of the way was his main priority, so he didn’t ask if he could help. There were more than qualified professionals here and they didn’t need Keren messing up their flow. The events of this day had gone to hell, and a hovering student would hinder more than help. Keren made his decision…he would check to be sure the Headmaster was alerted and keep away after that. He wasn’t needed here, and would hear how the mystery unfolds through the gossip grapevine.

"Rahne?" Dr. McTaggert asked as she briskly made her way to the med-lab alongside Keren. "No, I've nae heard from her in some time. She's a capable young woman, I'm sure she's fine. I'll give her a call once we've made sure Kevin's alright."

Clearly, her daughter was not the priority at the moment. Of course, she hadn't heard all of the details of what had happened upstairs - or at least all of the details that had been figured out thus far.

The doors slid open with that sharp hiss, and Moira squeezed her way in before they had opened fully, rushing over to where Josh was tending to her son.

"Oh, sweet Jesus," she gasped, rushing over to him. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, steeled herself. He didn't need a panicked mother, that would do him no good. No, he needed her strong-willed, needed her focused. The medical staff was working on him, yes, but she needed to be here. As much as she wanted to tend to him, as much as she wanted to be the clever doctor figuring out what was wrong and fixing it, she had to let these people do their job. This was their territory, this was their show, and she was too emotionally attached to the patient to tend properly.

"Mister Foley? Is something..." she watched with concern as he placed his hand on Kevin's chest, the look on his face almost as if he were... listening? What was this young man doing?

She reeled back on reflex as Josh recoiled, seeming to be in some sort of pain.
"Mister Foley, what happened? What did... did you see something? Do you know what happened?"

[size0]Say the dog and butterfly,
in the air they like to fly.
Dog and butterfly.
She knew she had to try,
and she float back down to the warm soft ground,
laughing - she don't know why,
but she had to try, she had to try.

Jack had never paid much attention to the rosary before, but now that he stared at it wrapped across his hand, he became aware of pretty it was. He wanted to hold on to it, as if having it on his person would ease his barely contained feelings of panic. But he knew how cliche and impractical the desire was, the sort-of-a-hero boyfriend proudly wearing a symbol of his girlfriend and exposing it to all sorts of elements as he bravely faced adversaries, the token somehow still intact.

The rosary was well-loved, but still beautiful, and Jack knew better than to take it with him. Out there, beyond the shattered window, the rosary would suffer worse. Solemnly, he turned to Sam and stooped to level himself slightly with his good friend. "Hold on to this," Jack rumbled, his voice sharp and level as he handed over to Sam the only part of Rahne that had been left behind.

Logan's words burrowed beneath his skin deeper than Jack would have liked, more than he would have cared to think possible after all he'd gone through. Wasn't this just another hurdle on the long road of his utterly uneven path in life? Tightening his jaw, he turned back towards the gaping window, his ears forward and attentive, though twitching to be pinned back against his skull in silent frustration.

"I heard you the first time," Jack retorted bluntly as Logan called him out on his inaction again, the fur around his face retracting as his body shrank. He seemed startled by his own words as he said them, but finding Rahne surfaced to his mind as the priority. It was out of his character, but he could hardly hold himself accountable for what he said in this kind of situation.

He didn't think he could take stairs and hallways right now, nor the questioning gazes of students and his peers alike. Then Jack made a hasty exit after his teammates out the same Rahne had taken, the glass shattered enough that his larger frame fitting past it was hardly an issue.

And as he hit the ground, he hardly had to ask James what he had found, as it stood out to him as clear as day. "It isn't like her to run off," he remarked mostly to himself, already sensing some foul play.

So many things happened at once... he couldn't process it all. A few screams barely penetrated the confusion and shock that clouded his mind... it just wasn't possible. What the hell was laying in front of him?

"Doctor! I need a doctor here."

Josh's eyes flickered over his shoulder just long enough to distractedly take in the site of a girl bleeding from the head. A nurse had raced over to Blink... it had been Blink who had called for a doctor. Foley swallowed dryly, “Get three bags of blood and get her hooked up to an IV. Once that's done, prep her for an extraction.”

He'd never done anything even close to what he would have to do for the injured student in a few minutes, but he'd read all about it. There was a first time for everything.

It was then that he realized that Jeb Guthrie was standing next to him and had been saying something about Rahne.

Logan? Rahne? What? Something's wrong with Rahne? Where is she? If there's something wrong with her, then why isn't she here?

He shook his head; Foley couldn't worry about Rahne. There were two young people on the table, and he had no clue just how badly either of them were injured... one because he hadn't examined her, and the other because he had no fucking clue what the hell was laying in front of him. What was wrong with him... had Jeb asked that? What the hell could he say?

What was wrong with him... Jeb hadn't been the only one to ask that loaded question.

He finally looked into the eyes of Moira... Kevin's mother.

Did I see something? Do I know what happened? I don't... what do I say to her?

Without replying to her, he tentatively placed his hands on the chest of the young man again. He checked once more, bracing for what he had experienced a few moments ago – he was glad he had.

“Miss McTaggart...”

How was he supposed to break news like this to a mother regarding her son? This wasn't part of his job... this was Scott's field... or at least Kurt's.

“I uh...”

He looked back over his shoulder at the other student, but his view was blocked by a nurse hooking her up to another set of monitors. He turned his gaze back to Kevin, then glancing uncomfortably at Jeb as if trying to pull some sort of strength from him.

“For all intents and purposes... Kevin should be dead. Only... he's not.”

Crouching down, James ran a finger around one of the tracks. "Who wants to play follow the leader?" He asked, straightening up. "I don't know what the hell is going on here, Logan. But I say its time we found out. We need to go after her."

James stroked his chin."She can't have been gone long. If we move out now we can catch her before it gets too dark to see. But we don't have much time." The sun was setting even now, but with Jack and Logan it wouldn't be too hard to track her by her scent.

"Better come with us Amara," Warpath said. "We don't really know what's going on and we could use the firepower. Jack, you take point with me." Setting out, James trotted for a ways before lowly talking to the wolf-mutant. "You okay, Jack?" He wasn't much of a therapist but he needed to be sure that Jack wasn't about to fly off the handle on him. "Trail changes direction up ahead."

Questions still swirled in James' mind as they ran along Rahne's trail. The whole damn situation didn't make any sense. Something about it was nagging at the back of James' mind. Like he should know better than to go in half-cocked. It was very likely that they were heading straight into a trap. He knew Rahne wouldn't be this careless with her trail if she was leaving the Mansion. It was clumsy, almost as if she was not use to her movements or she was deliberately leading them toward something.

“'Course he's okay,” Logan said as he walked past Jack and crouched down, breathing deeply while ignoring everyone else in the area save the three others who were supposed to be here. “He don't have a choice.”

Rahne. He smelled Rahne... but more than her. It was really weird.

He glanced from the tracks James had pointed out to James himself, “Yeah... you two take point Once we get to the woods, you two keep hard on the trail.”

He stood up, eyes taking in Jack and trying to judge whether the man really was too emotional to be involved in this. It was too close to call, but with the other two here, he figured if things got too crazy for the other feral, they'd have the manpower to keep him from doing something dangerous. Besides... he deserved this.

As the first two took off in the direction Warpath had indicated, Wolverine glanced to Amara, “The woods, right? Once we get there, you two stay hard on the trail. Amara, you stay a good twenty feet back and keep an eye on the rear. I'll keep just enough away to keep free of any ambush.” He glanced up at the window and back to Warpath, “She didn't just take off for a stroll. Somethin's on the grounds shouldn't be.”

He looked back at Amara as they all ran toward the woods, “Keep yer eyes open, kid.”

Amara was ready to spring at any moment, and shift into her magma form if need be. The idea, though, that Rahne was possibly an enemy made her a bit uneasy. You really couldn't blame her.. Rahne had more field experience than the younger mutant ever would. The blond eyed James as he cracked a bit of a joke. The tension at the moment was thick enough to cut with a knife.. And at the institute, that was saying something. It normally wasn't like this, and that was one of the many ways that you could tell something bad was happening tonight.

"If you need light, I can provide that." Amara commented. She was told to follow Logan, for reasons unknown. Nobody really knew what Logan was thinking, but he was an efficient leader when he had to be. And to be specific, in times like this. Crisis. Amara blinked a bit as James reiterated what Logan had said, before, when they were still in Kevin's bedroom. She understood that James didn't know but... It was still kind of ironic that he had mentioned that she better follow them. She nodded. "I believe that is the plan." She said, still ready to shift forms at any given moment..

Though, shortly after Amara replied James made a bit of a joke.. Which admittedly made Amara chuckle, albeit extremely shortly and quietly. Firepower. What was he thinking -- then again, what was anyone thinking at the given time? Amara didn't quite know what the others were thinking, but Amara was thinking of multiple things. Rahne. Kevin... And lastly, Moira. She wondered if that Dubhashi boy had gotten to Moira in time, and gotten her to come to the infirmary. He probably did, but Amara wasn't sure. As they walked, James noted that there was something.. Odd about how Jack was acting, and inquired if he's okay.

"It is his lover that is at risk, James.." Amara mumbled, in a small voice. Amara was closer to the back than the other three, so she figured that it would be best to take an offensive position. Though, she knew that if Rahne saw the fire she probably would run. She wouldn't transform.. Not yet at least. The only downside to that, was that Amara could barely see anything in the forest unlike James, Logan, and Jack, who all had heightened senses. This put Amara at a considerable disadvantage. "Of course." Amara said in reply to Logan. She was already, considerably far behind them as it was. Staying this way wouldn't be a problem.

Her heart was racing.

She felt uneasy.

And.. Her index finger of her right hand felt like it was burning. That really didn't shock her. Though, Amara glanced down at her finger to notice that it had slowly turning into flame. This was probably due to her emotions, she wasn't feeling.. Well, safe. And normally when her emotions have an odd influx of feelings, her powers just began to react without her input. Amara was slowly getting control. But every now and again she still had a bit of lapses with her abilities. Like now.. Nearly all of her hand was engulfed, soon enough, she'd be fully transformed and her clothing would be burnt to a crisp. "Stop.." She mumbled. It didn't work. If she transformed, albeit slowly, she would just have to deal with it -- but for now, she was hiding her right hand.

They were fretting over him now, taking caution as if he were about to fly off the handle at any given second. Jack strived to focus solely on the trail, to keep his focus on Rahne's scent that didn't smell quite right, but he felt as though they had no faith in him, especially after James pulled him aside.

"I'm okay," Jack acknowledged, trying not to sound defensive about his condition. He knew he had to look flustered, and Logan had at least seen what Jack could become under pressure. But in the Void, he had been in control of himself and his actions. I'm not eighteen anymore. he added silently, but he couldn't bring himself to say it. The last thing he wanted to do was to go back to being that nervous wreck, the one the people walked on pins and needles around.

It didn't help his case when Amara used the word lover, a word that he'd never really liked, associating it with being non-committal and impermanence. "Girlfriend," he hastily corrected, starting to feel anxious as he peered into the woods. Fur sprouted through his pores again, his face rearranging into a lupine shape. Communication would be halted and difficult, but if they were going to find Rahne it was the only option.

His eyes adjusting to the darkness, Jack dropped to his fours and advanced to the head of the group. At some ungiven distance, he would pause and wait for the rest of the group, but it was hard to stop when all he wanted to do was to run as fast and hard as he was physically able.

Moira's mouth moved, but no words came out. It was like her throat refused to let what she wanted to say escape. Her eyes roved around, her breath quivering as it pushed past her gaping mouth. Dead? Should have been dead, but wasn't? What could possibly happen that would...

No! No science here. No. The scientist wouldn't... she was powerless. Her son was lying comatose in front of her and nothing anybody could do was helping.

She could do nothing but feebly nod her head in shock. It was insane, it was horrible, like a bad dream that she couldn't awake from. It was her job as a mother to protect her children from anything that could be thrown at them, and she was failing. She knew it.

Rahne's trail led straight and true, through the woods, and at increasingly high speeds. Each footprint dug progressively deeper, pounding more and more dirt out as it went. Suffice it to say that she wasn't capable of this level of speed. It was as if she were hyper-accelerated somehow - as if in some way, whatever happened was spurring her on well past her capabilities.

The trail led on, out of campus grounds, and into the small town of Salem Center....

[size0]Say the dog and butterfly,
in the air they like to fly.
Dog and butterfly.
She knew she had to try,
and she float back down to the warm soft ground,
laughing - she don't know why,
but she had to try, she had to try.
Dog and Buttefly.

Just to be clear, this is an old Loa, not the one presently on the site. May she rest in peace. :)
