Anne Lee knew her brother was standing behind her. She could hear him cough as if he needed to clear his throat of phlegm. In her mind a picture formed of him in disapproval of her ignoring him. The tip of his tail flicked abruptly side to side in irritation. No longer able to stand his eyes staring daggers into her back, Anne Lee turned and said with a tone reflecting her own irritation, "What?"

"You want to talk about it?" the one known as Mittens asked. "It's been a couple of weeks-" His voice cut off. Robert lifted his left hand to his shoulder. He grasped it to keep himself from annoyingly clicking his nails. "I want to know..." He let his voice off again.

"You want to know how you died." Anne Lee finished for him. "It was a building collapse. The infrastructure was weakened by a fire. He got separated from her and she blamed herself. Talk about the worst time realize a new power, huh?" Anne Lee let her eyes drift to the floor. Her brother wore a pair of shoes until the soles fell off. He needed a new pair. "Mitt- Robert," she corrected herself. "It wasn't you. If it were you'll be alive, here right now, with me. The moment she called you Robert was when you realized she wasn't me. It's the same thing. You're not him. You aren't going to die." With that statement Anne Lee brought her eyes to her brother's and she smiled. "Why are you really here?"

"I just wanted to know how the other world was like. She wouldn't say much," he stammered on.

"Their father was alive but he threw her out and then her brother when they got their powers," Anne Lee said knowing full well she shouldn't have told her brother that. The look of disbelief on Robert's face confirmed her thought.

"You're cruel," Robert sneered but then he too smiled. "Don't know if I can believe you. Just want to know if you're OK. I know her powers were more developed there. More than once she complained about it."

Her brother's statement caused Anne Lee to look at her desk. It was a mess. She was in the process of reorganizing it. All her notes were messed up. Her counterpart tried putting everything in a cipher but it was too much work. Instead, she read all the files, all the notebooks, anything Anne Lee collected during her stay at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters Anne tried to know. However, Anne had left Anne Lee some of her own notes as she walked the very same halls during the month she belonged to another world. There was also a driver's license with Anne Lee's name and picture on it. It wasn’t a forgery.

"She was... I want to be but I need more practice," Anne Lee said in a clear voice. "I don't know why her powers developed more quickly. It was probably because she didn't have anyone to worry about. No brother to fuss over." She gave a wary smile to Robert. "You're still my Mittens," she told him.

Without much reason Robert's face light up with laughter. He seemed relieved. "If I weren't than I'll know you'll be lying. You wouldn't be my sister. I... I'm glad you made me come to school. Just wish troubles didn't find us. I... want you to know you can talk to me. I may be younger but you can't stay here and let your mind rot. I really want you to let me know if you're not happy, that you don't want to be here. You don't need to hover over me forever. As far as I know this is the safest place you can leave me." Robert's voice dropped to a whisper, "I know you don't want to stay here forever. That is why you left me at the bus stop and made me come alone. You never wanted to come."

Summoning a round black rabbit stuffed animal, Anne Lee hugged it. "I didn't want to be separated from you. All my time in that world I clung to the thought that I'll be able teleport out of there. I'll be back here. You'll be here. But I wouldn't have been able to. I... I know you don't need me to hover over you. I just don't know what to do. Being there I wanted nothing more than to be back here... I can't stay here." Anne Lee threw the rabbit at the wall over her bed.

"I'll graduate high school then I'm gone. Got it," Anne Lee said sternly as she pointed at Robert's chest. "Mittens you can't make me stay. I want to leave. I just don't want to lose track of you like she did. So, you are going to let me visit but first I need to learn to teleport better. So, I'll stay until I can teleport like her or at least find a job. It's not like money appears out of thin air. Have to pay rent of course… and food… maybe a car. I need to learn to drive since I got a license. Ah, why are you here again?"

On Robert's face there was still a smile. "I thought we could talk. We haven't really talked in a long time." Out of everyone in the world Robert knew his sister the best. In order for her to do anything she had to want it. He also knew she wanted to leave. At least he wouldn't be alone after she left and it wasn't like she was leaving tomorrow. Would she graduate in the winter?

"So, what are you getting me for my birthday? I'll be your age again very soon." Robert wanted his sister to be happy.
