Time: Eleven AM
Date: Saturday, October Sixteenth

Alyson had gotten up at the crack of dawn this morning, and even before then she was having trouble sleeping. Today was the first day in a while that Alyson would be able to see her father - not only that, but it was her birthday. Today was the day that she turned seventeen. In her eyes, she was no longer that little hyper kid.. But a little hyper young adult. Or at least, that’s how she viewed it. About two days ago, Alyson had set the entire trip up. She got herself a chaperone among one of the mansions many staff members, this chaperone was Kitty Pryde, and she even asked Clarice “Blink” Ferguson, one of Alyson’s first “real” friends at the institute, to accompany her.

She knew that her father would be anticipating her arrival as soon as they left, but Alyson was sure that it could’ve taken less time if she hadn’t taken about eighty minutes in the bathroom this morning. Good thing that Kimmy was probably asleep.. Or just not banging on the door of the bathroom, or else Alyson probably would’ve sealed the room entirely shut with her telekinesis. It was surprisingly quiet on the ground for a Saturday, for Alyson, save for a few happy birthdays, or see ya laters. Just stuff along those lines. To be honest, she was actually kind of relieved that she was getting off the grounds for a day. Even it was still only a day, it was still worth it.

Actually… Was it even a day?

Alyson sighed a bit, there was something inside her that actually wished that her older brother would be there with them. But she knew that that wasn’t possible, and she wasn’t going to dwell over it. He was… Missing,, and a criminal. And, to top it off, he hated her. That wasn’t much better. But, regardless, they were still blood related. Her brother would be all she had one day - that was what her father told her all the time, and even though she didn’t understand it(partially because he was literally never there for her, even when he still lived with Alyson and their father, and partially because he hated her), but she still thought of him as family, even if he thought of her as an enemy.

Which he probably did.

Gripping her keys in hand, Alyson began down the staircase. She knew Kitty had her own way of getting there, as her car was only a two seater, and Kitty would probably be following them closely behind.. Come to think of it, the brunette didn’t even know if Clarice knew how to drive a car or anything. That would be something that Alyson would have to think about. Along with the question of; is she using her image inducer? Because if she was, Aly would probably have a terrible time trying to find her among the other hordes of students… But she would, none the less, because that was the power of friendship……….And that was wayyy too corny.

New York City - Max’s Home
Time: Eleven Thirty

“How long has it been?” The elder male asked himself. His voice harsh and, not surprisingly, full of excitement. He hadn’t seen his daughter since Christmas of the year prior. It had nearly been an entire year since he’d seen his baby girl. And today, her seventeenth birthday, he finally would. It felt like yesterday that he held her in his arms, and she was just a toddler. “Oh.. Alex… If you could see her now.” He said, smiling a bit as he looked at an image of his deceased wife that set above the fire place. “She’s almost an adult. It’s.. Shocking.” He said. To anyone else, it would have seemed that he was talking to himself. Though - he knew this wasn’t the case.

“Next year she’ll be eighteen. God, that’s frightening. She’ll probably go off her hinges and become a skank or something.” Max scoffed and looked at the image of his deceased wife and went back to a straight face. “You know.. I really do miss you.” Suddenly, a knock at the front door took the man from reminiscing. He knew she was listening, but whenever he tried to tell her about things that had happened recently, there was an interruption. Pulling the door open, Max nearly dropped his coffee mug at the face that stood at the other side of the door. “I… Miles?” Max said, his voice full of shock. He definitely didn’t expect to see his son at the other son of the door. “Hello… Father.” Miles gritted his teeth slowly. “Today is my little sisters birthday… I wouldn’t miss it for the world.” He grinned and snapped his fingers, igniting his hand on fire.

“Wait, Miles, what are you doing?!” Max said, backing away from the door. Miles slowly entered the door, as Max backed into the fire place. “Father… It has been SO long.” He continued to grin, the fire flickering. “Now… Boy, don’t do anything rash.” Max said, beginning to panic. “Oh.. I won’t. At least not while mother’s watching…”

The loud and annoying alarm clock started to ring, which rudely interrupted Clarice in her sleep. Lazily hitting all of the buttons on the clock to turn it off, she sat up, but fell back down on her back. Staying up too late to work on an art piece was not a good thing, she started to get less rest. Which can ultimately increase in your chances of having a heart attack, or something of the likes. Looking to the side, she still did not see a roommate lying in the other bed across the room. She couldn't have said that they had woken up earlier and is outside, because she knew that she did not have a roommate, since the last one left.

Yawning and stretching for a longer time than the natural, she finally got out of bed. The clock read eight o'clock in the morning, but she felt that it was still two in the morning. Blinking her eyes, she tried not to rub them, as it was really unhealthy to do so. Usually, she would love to work on her paintings really late at night, waking up really late the next day; only because it was the weekend. However, this first day of the weekend would be different, because she was visiting Alyson Hart's family. It was strange that they had become really good friends by now, seeing that Clarice started out as a really shy girl.

Speaking of families, Clarice looked down in depression at the fact that she could never do this ever again. Her parents is dead, her grandmother is dead, and her brother is missing. Never would she be able to go on a vacation to her family. The mutants at this mansion slowly started to become her family, she started to love each and every person that she met here. If she ever wanted to run away to her family, she would just have to stay kept. Smiling at the positives, pushing away the negatives, Clarice decided to get ready now. She also needed to eat a good breakfast before they left, it was about a two hour drive.

Before she left her dorm, she quickly grabbed the image inducer on her nightstand. Forgetting that would be terrible, because... it wasn't a good concept for a young woman with pink skin just walking around the streets of New York. She was so fortunate that the faculty at the mansion had invented one for her. Even though she would never love any other appearance rather than her true self, she did like changes from time to time. Turning the inducer on, she looked in the mirror and thought to herself, I kind of look like Minka Kelly.

When it was time, she made it downstairs and saw Alyson. "I'm ready! Oh... did I keep you waiting?"

Out of all of the discolored students in the school, how many of them were known to be able to mask their true appearances? Not many. And that's exactly why Alyson was having so much trouble finding Clarice. She didn't expect her to.. Well, she didn't expect the pinkette to look like just someone that could be hanging around New York City and blending seamlessly with no trouble, like she probably would in Mutant Town. It just made no sense to the brunette why someone would want to hide who they really are. She didn't really like that idea. It wasn't... Practical. If the someone who the person is, looks different, than so be it.

A few casualties here and there of Alyson accidentally approaching the wrong discolored being led to a few misunderstood communications. Sure. They were pink or purple, and had longer hair. Could one really tell the difference? Maybe. Probably not. Unless they knew the specific mutants body language perfectly which... Alyson did not. Sighing a bit, as she began to walk out to the foyer she noticed someone that looked familiar, but different all in the same. "It couldn't be..." Alyson mumbled to herself as she started for the door, only to turn around and face the other person that was bounding down the staircase. And low and behold, her initial guess was right. "Hey, Clarice."

Alyson said, her words considerably hushed as she stared at the other mutant. She only knew it was her from the way that she was thinking.. And even though it's wrong for a telepath to step in to peoples minds, some times Alyson had to. Though she never would again.. She hoped. She didn't do it often anyway, only when she had to. Kind of like she just did. She couldn't find Clarice.. And this humanish looking student looked like her. So, as a deciding factor Alyson had decided to check up on their thoughts and heard her mention something about looking like Minka Kelly. That wasn't what tipped Alyson off. It was her voice.

"Waiting? Nah. I've just been looking around the entire school for a half hour." The brunette teased as she looked at her friend. "Anyway.. We should get rolling. At this rate, Kitty's gonna be there before us. Hell. She probably will anyway." Alyson sighed a bit and looked at her friend. Clarice had to admit that Alyson had a point. With that, they went out to Alyson's car and left.
Max's Home
11:35

“Shit!” Max shouted as he embraced the area of his arm that was burnt. The photograph of Alexandria was pressed to face downwards on the mantle. Miles grinned as he looked at his father. “Really? That was only a small burn.” The young man taunted as he watched his father closely. Max glared at his son. “You really picked the wrong day, you know….” Miles grinned as he heard his father say this. What could he possibly mean? Did he mean that his baby sister was to be here after all? Of course he did… Miles knew that Alyson wouldn’t miss coming home on her birthday for anything. That was basically like stabbing her through the chest with a dagger… It probably wouldn’t happen.

“So when is the brat supposed to get here?” Miles asked, now leaning against the wall as Max rinsed his burn under cold water. “.. She probably left a half--” He winced a bit as the water collided with the burn, causing a bit of a stinging sensation, “--hour ago. And it takes two hours to get here from the school.” He replied, coldly as he watched his son closely. Many things were going through Max’s head… The most prominent of which happened to be, why did he pick today? And the fact that there was now an escaped convict within his household. Perhaps he should call the authorities.. But then he’d probably be killed.. Oh this wasn’t going to end very well.

“… Then I’ll just wait for her to get home before I start terrorizing.” Miles said. “For now, I’ll be in my room.. Considering I know that you gave me one.” Miles knew the type of person that Max was inside out. Miles was his son, so he knew that he would have given him a room no matter what. That was evident.

It was easy sometime to forget that there were lives in place before Xaviers, that there were lives that ran parallel to Xaviers. Kitty realized she had been lucky, very lucky. When it came to her being a mutant she had been one of the fortunate who had had parent's who were more than excepting they were embracing. They had never made her feel less for being different, never unloved or unwanted and they had done this with such ease to lull Kitty into the sense that all families were like this, all parents were as loving and compassionate. It hadn't been too awfully long before she learned her experience was more often the exception not the rule. People could be cruel and when it came to things like mutants down right sinister. But still family was family wasn't it? Some bonds were supposed to be deeper than genetics, they were about love. It was then Kitty realized that in this world a person could have two families, the one you were born into and the one over time you created for yourself. The X-men, her friends, they were her second family and she was as devoted to them maybe even more so then to her Deerfield clan so may miles away. Love was a lot like loyalty it sprang from a deep well and it enabled a person an understanding that went deeper than schematics. Having the choice of these people in her life and heart didn't make them less in Kitty's eyes it made them more.

She paced back and forth a bit as she waited for the arrival of the two students. Being early for things was one of those pesky character faults her father had instilled in her long ago. Carmen Pryde was a man who kept his watch trained five minutes ahead to never be late for anything and he had instilled this in his only daughter as well. Kitty didn't like to think of herself as a chaperon, more like a friend there for emotional support. She had heard wonderful things from Alyson about the Hart family but the X-man knew sometimes the transition wasn't easy. Living in a place like Xaviers with people so like you were gave you a certain sense of self that while strengthening was a bit alienating. It drove home the point that you were different and that you were not alone. Some people did very well with the change, others not so much, which was why when she could Kitty liked to tag along. People responded well to her and the knowledge that she was a pretty girl who spoke well with impeccable manners wasn't lost on her either. She knew how to work a room, what had to be said, how to put people with concerns at ease. She had been going to Xaviers for a long time, she was one of the original best example cases so she knew how to sell the product.

When the two teens arrived the brunette phaser waved excitedly to them.

"Your late." she said to Alyson, smile on her face to show she was teasing. "Or I'm early. I think i saw a crazed white rabbit with a pocketwatch run by here yelling earlier but I could have been mistaken.

She then took notice of Clarice so different with the workings of one the school's custom image inducers.

"You look wonderful, Clarice." she told the teleporter affection in her voice, "But your even prettier in pink."

"Okay." she said clapping her hands together. "Where is this family of yours, Aly? I'm dying to meet them."

Clarice had forgotten that Kitty had also been going along with them to Alyson's family home. She had to respect the petite brunette, because she was just so optimistic, but still kept her independence. Since Kitty was part of the faculty at the school, who didn't know her? Clarice had met and talked to her a couple of times, but they were not close enough for Clarice to invite her to their home. If she ever wanted to do that, she would get Rahne as a chaperone, most likely. Seeing that all three of them were not driving together, Kitty drove by herself. Hopefully she wasn't bored on the way there. Thinking about driving, Clarice could have driven as well. Actually... she couldn't have. She knows how to drive automatics, but not a manual, plus, she didn't have a license. No one would want her to get carded while driving, getting a ticket as well.

"Oh, sorry then." As she headed towards the door, "Then off we go!" Both Alyson and herself had climbed into her car. The drive was not as long as she expected it to be, especially since she kept herself occupied. Getting enough sleep and rest the night and morning before, it was difficult for her to fall back asleep. She also spent a good twenty minutes staring at her 'normal' complexion and features in the car's mirror. Clarice looked the same, expect for the fact that her skin and her were peach and brown, instead of pink and purple. Once they arrived, they saw Kitty.

"Thanks, Kitty." Staring at her peach skin again, she still could not believe that she was not pink for a time. "Yeah, I still love my pink." Looking at Kitty, she had to return the favor, "Like always, you look pretty." That wasn't just because she wanted to be nice, Kitty actually looked pretty. Thinking about it more and more, Clarice had never really met a true 'ugly' person in her life. Turning back to Alyson, "Yes. Where is your family, Alyson?" Clarice was expecting a very kind and energetic family, just like Alyson was... ish.

"Yes! Off we go!" Alyson commented in reply to Clarice.. Shortly after, she got in her car with the disguised mutant and was on her way to New York City. Alyson knew that it was a two hour drive. She knew that Kitty would beat them there... And she knew that she was probably going to hear it from both the X-Man, and her father. Alyson wasn't going to be angry at Clarice though - it wasn't really her fault that she didn't recognize her friend. It was far from being her fault... Or at least, she thought so. Clarice might have thought otherwise.

At around one-twenty-five, to one-thirty PM, Alyson and Clarice arrived. They were only a half hour late.. But that wasn't quite the point. She was sure that Kitty had been waiting since, at the most, one. Or maybe even twelve-fifty-something. Alyson didn't know Kitty to be late. That was why she asked her to come along with her, because she was never late. Alyson didn't really know Kitty all that well. She'd met her.. About five times before. Nothing entirely too recent, but it was still relevant. "Yeah.. I know. I spent nearly a half hour searching for someone." Alyson said, eying her friend.

Alyson couldn't help but to giggle when Kitty remarked something about having seen a crazed little white rabbit on her way here. Alice puns. They were always good... They never ceased to make the teenager giggle to herself. "Where? In the house, would be my guess." Alyson replied to the older brunette, and the now dirty-blond Clarice. Slowly, she bounded up the porch staircase of the town home and opened the door. Inside, Max sat, alone.. With a bandage over his burn. Alyson blinked her eyes as she glanced as the bandage as her father stood up. "Uh.. Dad, what happened to your wrist?"

Max smiled soothingly. "Don't worry about it, I just burnt myself cooking." Aly rolled her eyes. "You're too clumsy." She said, walking in the door. Max walked over to the doorway and peered outside and noticed Clarice and Kitty both making their way towards the door. "You must be Clarice.. I presume?" He said to the younger girl. Last he had heard, though, was that Clarice had a physical mutation. He would be embarrassed if he were wrong. Then, he turned to Kitty. "And you're Kitty, right?" He nodded his head a bit. Alyson had commented that an X-Men, Kitty Pryde, was accompanying her.

As Max extended his hand for a friendly handshake, Alyson was over by the fireplace, staring at the picture of her mother that was still face down. "Phooey." She said, placing it upright. "Someone must have knocked you over." She said, her voice hushed to a very low tone so that Kitty nor Clarice could hear her. She looked around and took her jacket off, walking over towards the front door and placing it on the coat rack. "I'll be right back." Alyson said, nodding her head a bit as she began up the staircase. She was going to her bedroom for something.

As the door shut and Alyson walked into a mainly blue room, Max was still downstairs getting introductions done and getting to know the other two girls a bit. It wasn't often that he had company - much less company from the Xavier Institute. Alyson was rummaging through her room. "Oh come on! I know there's still some wrapping paper hidden in her some where." Her room was the same way that she had left it nearly two years ago now; so she knew where nearly everything was. There are, of course, a few things that she had misplaced. That much was very blatant.

About ten minutes later, Alyson came bounding back down the staircase holding a free-form shaped object that was covered in pink, yellow, and blue wrapping paper that was all taped together and made to resemble something that was just stitched into a bit of a cross-hatch pattern. "I got you something the other day," Alyson smiled sweetly, like a little girl, as she walked up to her father, "when you called me the other day and it was all noisy.. I was here in the city getting you this. It isn't much!" The young girl explained. On the twelfth, a little before she had an odd encounter with a group of people.

All of which happened to be mutants.

Max blinked. "You didn't have to get me anything..." He mumbled, taking the gift from his daughter and unwrapping it.. Only to reveal a simple mug with the words World's Best Father written on it. It was probably one of the best gifts that he had gotten in a long while. "Aw... Thank you, sweetie." Alyson smiled and nodded her head. "You're welcome."

Watching from a crack in the basement door, Miles gagged. "They make me ill."
