September 20th 12:30pm -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was a beautiful day in downtown North Salem. The sky was crystal blue with barely a cloud to be seen and the air was charged with festive energy. The circus was in town! Ever since he was a kid Adialis had loved the circus and couldn’t pass up on this golden opportunity to come see it on its last day in town. The Circus had set up camp on the outskirts of the small town turning one of the large parks into a festive wonderland. Trees overshadowed the candy coloured arch which led into the circus grounds as clowns handed out balloons to small children while stilt walkers paraded the grounds in their brightly coloured clothing. Adialis could just make out a fortune teller’s booth set up near the back, next to a cotton candy stall and a teacup ride. There were a number of games of skill and chance set up around the main circus tent where Adialis could hear the adoring crowd’s screams of delight as the ringmaster put his animals through their paces. And above it all loomed a huge Ferris wheel which offered a bird’s eye view not only of North Salem but most of the surrounding suburbs. Adialis breathed in the festive carnival air enjoying the sight if not sharing its festive mood. He was nervous to say the least, a fact he hoped wasn’t blatantly obvious to the rest of the world. Today Adialis was going on a date... we’ll not rea ... we’ll actually yeah it was a date. He’d tried to scrub up as best he could but it wasn’t easy considering his incredibly small wardrobe. Adialis hadn’t found the time to shop since he received his inheritance and had done the best with what he had. Wearing a casual untucked white collared shirt under a green vest he’d bought at the opp shop down the road, he also wore a pair of old skinny leg black denim jeans and his favourite pair of green sneakers. Adialis had even ironed his shirt a feat not easily accomplished with the well worn material which had been crammed into the bottom of his bag for a good portion of the year. Glancing over the heads of the crowd Adialis kept a look out for young Morlock. They’d only really met a handful of times but Adialis felt they’d hit it off pretty well. You broke his nose! he remembered ruefully. After what seemed like endless failed attempts to get in contact with him, Adialis had asked him out and picked the circus as the best place to take him. What if he doesn’t show? he thought for the umpteenth time knowing full well he’d only been waiting for a few minutes. Shuffling his feet in the dirt he waited nervously for Tidus to appear in the crowd. |

Oh fiddlesticks he was nervous. Soo nervous! He had only ever dated one guy, and that had been his best friend Riley...This was completely different. The teen shook his head. No sense dwelling on what had happened, his friend was no longer a part of his life. He had true friends, people almost kin to him, who understood him better than any of his previous acquaintances ever would. Not that the boy was really dwelling on that, heck no! He was washing up, digging around for his nicest clothes, and just fretting as the minutes ticket by. Tidus did not have much to choose from, so he choose a pair of plain blue jeans. They were a smidgen too tight, but that was okay. They weren't plastered to his skin, but the denim material was loose either. His T-shirt was rather plain, a soft yellow with a grey tribal design dancing along the front. He had a grey sweater tied about his waist, just in case it was too nippy outside, Finally, his black sneakers had been scoured clean. They were still a bit worn, nut no holes were noticeable. He hoped Adialis wouldn't mind. Then he was off, fighting the traffic to get to the bus station. The ride was an hour. Too long, but not long enough according to the teen's nerves. The circus was not hard to find, as there were signs and balloons everywhere. It was within easy walking distance, the steady thump thump of the boy's sneakers beating a reassuring tattoo upon the pavement. It was a little chilly, being autumn and all, but he couldn't ask for a nicer day. The sky was clear, the leaves were bright, and he had a date to get to...Yeah. Tidus "Cuddlefish" Allens was going on a date. A date! A date! I'm going on a date! Ahem, Tidus coughed a little behind his hand. No reason to get all girly and giddy about it. Still! How in the world was he so lucky? Not every person could say they met their date by breaking their nose upon them. A small smile lifted the young man's lips and he chuckled fondly at the memory. Now to find Adialis...Every few steps, he stood on his toes, trying to peer over the crowd, his typical sunglasses perched upon his nose. Normally crowds bothered the rather shy mutant, but his entire being was thrumming, focus entirely on finding the other young man. Aha! There he was! I hope I didn't keep him waiting too long...I'm on time, right? Tidus bit his lip, wading through the crowd of parents, children, and lovers. Adialis was all dressed up, handsome as ever in a polo and green vest. The young mutant swallowed, willing some of his nerves to go away. Stuffing slightly unsteady hands into his pockets, he strode up to the taller man, unable to keep a smile at bay. ”Hey Adialis.” He greeted, resting his weight on one foot, hips tilted. Gah, he hoped he didn't look as nervous as he felt. The mutant was sure that he wasn't nervous enough to start changing colors...Tidus envied Adialis, the guy looked so calm. ((sorry for the wait, school's been awful >>)) |
