[PROFILE] Age:20 Abilities: Molecular distortion, the ability to separate the bonds between molecules with which she comes in contact. About: Born in small town Hawaii, Loa was a champion surfer before coming to Xavier's school in 2005, left late May 2009, returned September 2010. She made a reputation for herself as a laid back carefree individual before returning to visit her family shortly before the outbreak of the Apocalypse events and came back to train and reconnect with her friends. She left the school once more after Xavier's was destroyed, returning only after news of Cyclop's attack on Horizon Labs and the disappearances among her former classmates reached her. Appreciated: Prior relationships from her time at the school of all sorts are very welcome. |

Hey there! I am just starting out with Moonstar and seeking plots myself. Out of all of my characters, Dani is probably the most likely to interact with you. I have a student as well who is Loa's age, but he is a bit shy. Anyway I'll put link to those two profiles and, if interested, we can work something out. And btw, welcome to the site! ^.^ [MOONSTAR] | [YANTRA] |

November 28th, 2010 4:00 pm --------------------- Hisako groaned as she rested her head onto the keyboard of her laptop. She'd been writing her essay analysis of the book "Catch-22" for the last two hours, but still hadn't even gotten past the thesis statement. "Kore ha osoroshii" (This is horrible) Hisako muttered, her words muffled by the home row keys of her computer. Why did she even have to do this stupid assignment? The book was rotten! It was about something that was needed, but could only be gotten when it wasn't needed! What sort of logic is that anyway? Hisako hated paradoxes with a surprisingly large passion, and writing a book report on one? TORTURE! This particular one, the Catch-22 of John Yossarian, was the archetype of paradoxes, the "chifu ten" as Hisako called it. The Chieftain. Yossarian was a US Air Force Bombardier during WWII who wished to be grounded so he didn't have to fly and possibly die. To be grounded, one had to be deemed "insane." However, the act of wanting to be grounded, according to the rules and so forth, certified you were sane. So wanting to be grounded made you unable to be grounded. TORTURE! Just then, Hisako heard someone entering the Girl's Lounge. This sparked Hisako to don an appearance of studiousness. The slightly closed eyes, drooping with boredom and stress, told a different story however. |

A lazy smirk sprawled across Lani's features. She'd just come from a run around the cold mansion grounds and her tan flesh bore the sweaty evidence of her travels. Her hair, bound in braids, radiated warmth back to her skull and her muscles, satisfied from the labour with which they've been fulfilled, had eased into a loose noodle-like state. It was Nirvana. She drifted into the dorm with her characteristically slopped posture. The young mutant was ready to head to her room and shed her sweats and sneakers, but the imploringly sad sight of an apparently stressed classmate slowed her to a stop. Lani observed her for a moment over the faint crackling sound of an old radio someone had left on. She recognized the girl from her time at the school before her departure. Armor was her alias, and her name was... something Japanese she couldn't recall. The girl seemed nice enough but appeared to be perpetually bound by an air of formal rigidity which both puzzled and unnerved the at ease Hawaiian. The route toward her bedroom was temporarily abandoned as she turned instead toward the younger book bound student. "Hey." She drawled casually, a bit of her native Hawaiian accent seeping through in her speech. "You look older then when I saw you last." She observed. It had been about six months that Lani had been on leave to her home town. "Still looking a little tense though eh? -Hey!" Lani exclaimed with a broadening grin that bore her white teeth. "Catch 22. I remember having to read that. I loved that book!" She smiled warmly down at the text. It had been one of the first stories with which she could relate and fully understand. Yossarin was something of a pacifist, like her. And like her he was a little apathetic and a little lazy: an anti-hero. Like him, at the time she read the novel she was gripped with a profound desire to return home. Only recently had she begun to understand the meaning in the story's ending, of the expendabilities to which Yossarin was returning. |

Moonstar - I think she`d make a great mentor type - as they seem to share a lot in terms of personality. There`s some discrepancy in terms of powers, but maybe Lani has come to look to her as something of an advisor Yantra - These two would likely get on well enough. Though I am hard pressed to think of anyone who Lani wouldn`t like. If you`re worried aout his shyness, you needn`t be. The great thing aout Lani is that I can have her roll up to anyone and strike up casual conversation. Vic - Yus! If you`d be up for a love-hate friendship involving much mutual playful insults, I`d be oh so happy. Lani would be eager to see Vic after her return, maybe text him to come meet her in the danger room. They could get reaquianted while dodging lasers. |

Hmm, out of the two I think I am more partial to exploring Dani/Loa relationship. I'll try to think of something good whenever I'm not so drowsy. |

Hisako stopped typing (she didn't even know what she was typing anyway) and turned to look up at... what was her name again? Hisako felt thoroughly embarrassed to have forgotten the girl's name but quickly hid the fact from view. She seemed polite at least, and that counted for something. Plus she said she'd read Catch-22 before, maybe she could... no, Hisako wouldn't do that. Asking for help on an essay that was essentially an opinion was like cheating. But maybe if she didn't ask... instead let the girl talk? That wouldn't be cheating. Right? Maybe... "You've read it?" Hisako said, smiling. "I have to write an essay... and I don't love it." Hisako frowned slightly, and rotated her laptop around to show the girl what little she'd written. "Been working on this for hours, but I can't think right now! Komat-te-ru..." Shaking her head, Hisako slumped slightly in her chair. She posture was a habit she'd developed in America. Having been brought up in Japan to sit upright (the most polite way), Hisako knew it was bad for sure, but honestly didn't care at the moment. She was brain dead. Suddenly, she remembered the girl's name! Lani! Lani... something. Hisako remembered always have a hard time pronouncing her name since the letter "L" did not exactly come natural to her. Still, Hisako always tried to best, much to the peppering of teasing from the other students. "What are you doing Ar... Ar... Alani?" Hisako stumbled over the "L" and leaned forward, resting her elbows on her knees and her fists under her chin. She looked bored. |

Lani knewwhat this "Komat-te-ru" business entailed. She'd been raised on an Island with a large and thriving Japanese community and knew enough of the language to recognize an expression of angst when she heard one. Perhaps even more disheartening then the utterance of self defeat was the tone it carried. The stress it bore was borderline infectious and there were few things more irksome then contagious bad vibes. Her heart went out to her junior classmen. Homework seemed like such a trivial matter over which to waste her spirits. Now more then ever in the wake of the Apocalypse events, Lani refrained from allowing anything save the end of days to get her down. The old cliche held true: life was too short. Alani certainly didn't pause to worry over the fact that the girl remembered her name while her title still eluded her own recollection. The name would come to her in due time, either emerging from the fog of her memory or in a greeting from another passer by. No worries. She was curious as to what - if anything - Armor knew or remembered of her, but imagined that would made clear enough in conversation. She smirked, poised to respond in telling about the cool afternoon run around the grounds, but a chuckle educing melody caught her ear, stealing her attentions. Lani's head tilted toward the direction of the static riddled sound of the old radio. A song had been dedicated by a DJ to a senator who managed to elude charges of embezzlement, but the tune may have very well been requested for she and her Japanese counterpart. "Heh no way. I haven't heard this song in ages." Lani smirked, slinking to the radio a few paces to the old Sony boom box. She fiddled with the tuning until the sound was crisp, and gave the volume a generous crank. MC Hammer's 'Can't Touch This' filled the lounge. Given the combined abilities of the two occupying the lounge, the old hit was eeriely appropriate. Sufficiently amused, Lani turned her grinning gaze back to Armor, hoping she'd abandon her hopelessly bored posture. She wrangled a chair and plopped next to Hasako with a lazy shrug. "Ja ne." She grinned. Lani had traditionally heard the expression used as a farewell, but it was the closest turn of phrase she could muster to encourage the girl to take it easy. |
