Date: September 20th Time: 12:30pm _____________________________ Robert was exhausted between calling his company, in order to set everything up so that it would run as smoothly as possible during his absence. Along with trying his best to stay in contact with the X-Men to make sure that everyone was getting there okay. Add to that the general feelings of depression he had stemming from the mansion being destroyed. To say he was mentally, emotionally, and even a bit physically drained was a bit of an understatement. But he did seem to get some good news, he'd heard through the grapevine that Tabitha was back in town. He hadn't seen her in awhile, post graduation he had a problem staying in touch, and keeping in contact with a lot of his old teammates. It bothered him a bit. Especially when he thought about how close they all were back in the day. The only person he really, REALLY kept in touch with post graduation was Sam. Everyone else seemed to be spread out all over doing their own thing. But, after hearing Boom-Boom was back in town he didn't even hesitate to call her up, and invite her out to grab some lunch, and catch up. With all the stuff that had gone down, he felt it would be good to see an old friend. As he drove to the DaSante's, The place he'd told Tabitha to meet him for lunch. Roberto couldn't help, but smile at the multitude of memories he'd had joking around with Tabitha back when they were just students at the mansion. The memories though nice were bittersweet, he couldn't seem to think about all the good times he'd had at the mansion without reminding himself that it was no longer there. Robert frowned before pulling into the restaurant the memory of the mansion not being there anymore once again putting him in a bad mood. He got out the car and handed the keys to the valet who quickly whisked his car away to wherever the hell they parked the cars at the place. DaSante's was a pretty expensive restaurant, and pretty popular too. So much so that the average person had to have a reservation to eat there. Luckily, Roberto being the acting CEO of a fortune five hundred company was not considered average my any means. Oddly, enough despite being as expensive as it was...it wasn't an overly fancy place. People didn't really dress up to go there or anything. The food was just really good, and as a result lots of people tried to eat there. He hadn't seen his old friend Tabitha in awhile, so he didn't mind treating her to nice meal while they caught up. Robert walked into the place, and made his way over to the hostess. "Da Costa for two." He said casually, waiting for the few seconds it took for the woman to look up his name. "Oh, Mr. Da Costa right this way." The hostess said with a big smile obviously having seen the VIP check by his name resulting in her pushing the friendly part of her job description up a level, or two. She quickly lead him to his table which was a nice relatively private table for two on the second floor, next to a window with a pretty nice view of Manhattan. Robert sat down, with a sigh giving the hostess a grateful smile as she returned to the front of the restaurant. He didn't even get much time to think before a waitress was standing at his table with the same overly friendly smile that the hostess had been giving him just moments before. "Can I get you anything? My name is Roxanne, and I'll be your waitress this afternoon." The attractive waitress asked. "I'm waiting on someone, so a simple vodka tonic will be great till she gets here." Robert asked, not feeling the least bit awkward about drinking at twelve o'clock in the afternoon. Ever since the mansion went boom he'd been drinking like a fish...it helped him feel better. Robert waited on his drink to come, and while doing so he looked out of the window to see if he could spot Tabitha when she arrived. |

September in New York City was one of Tabitha’s favorite things in the world. The warm days, the turning leaves and the chill of night air all painted a wonderful and often breath-taking canvas. “Boom...” the young woman whispered as she stepped out onto he bustling streets. The name “Boom-Boom” had been given to girl many years before during her days in school, and though she was never in love with it, she had come to appreciate the playfulness it seemed to have. People often refer to places as “a booming metropolis” and nowhere on earth was this more true than New York’s city streets. A millions sounds, colors and smells filled the air across every alleyway and road every minute of every day, this truly was the city that never sleeps. Having woken up to the message of an old friend with an invite for lunch was just what the girl needed. The week had been tough, what with the explosion at the school an the generalized chaos that followed it would be nice to see Roberto’s face. Meltdown ran her fingers through her tousled blond hair as she walked toward DaSante’s, though she had been past this restaurant many times she had never actually been inside. It wasn’t that she didn’t appreciate good food, or that it was too expensive, after all, it wouldn’t be too hard to get a man to buy her a meal. No, that wasn’t it, and truth be told, she really had no idea why she had never been, she just hadn’t. “Bobby boy!” she said louder than she should have. “God, it’s good to see you, I feel like it’s been forever, has it been forever? I feel like I’m loosing it lately with all this Purifiers shit at the school and everything.” Pulling the chair out and sitting across form Roberto at the small table Tabitha noticed the vodka sitting half-empty near his hands. “Sweet! We’re drinking and pretending it’s not early, right? Awesome, I could use some girl talk.” “I’ll have a cosmo, there’s no way a cosmo can be cliche before 1:00, right? Whatever, I like them. Cosmo it is.” The young woman’s bubbly demeanor and fast paced conversation came easily in the company of her old friend. Seeing him here, in this restaurant, flooded the girls head with memories and images. And though the things they did and said together were in reality not that long ago, it felt like a lifetime. Thats the thing about life, one person, in one body can live a hundred different lives and be a hundred different people. The world, and the things that happen in it, they can change you, sometimes for the better, but often for the worse. Tabitha however: was determined not to let that happen to her, she would stay true to herself no matter what. "Hey, remember Christina, the girl who could mess with the electrical current of machines and stuff? I'd been talking to her a lot more lately, but I haven't been able to get ahold of her in days now. I know I haven't seen you in a while and you were probably just wanting to have lunch, but, would you come with me to her house, just to check up on things?" Sitting back just a bit further in her chair Meltdown looked out the window at the city below. "I've just got a bad feeling about it..." |

Robert's drink arrived only a few minutes before Tabitha did. He'd only taken a swallow, of the surprisingly well made vodka tonic when he heard Tabitha's familiar voice practically shouting his name as she made her entrance. He could only shake his head, and smirk at the girl she hadn't changed a bit, still as up beat, and outspoken as ever. It was those signature character traits, along with her powers that had garnered her the nickname of Boom Boom, a nick name that Roberto liked to take credit for giving her, but it was so long ago he couldn't even remember how people got started calling her that anymore. "It's been uhhh." Robert paused for a second rubbing his forehead as he raked his brain to try to remember precisely how long it had been since he'd actually seen Tabitha face to face. "Awhile." Robert said not being able to figure out exactly how long it had been. Tabitha quickly sat down, when she did Roberto sipped his drink again...an act that definitely caught Tabitha's attention. “Sweet! We’re drinking and pretending it’s not early, right? Awesome, I could use some girl talk Roberto chuckled at the statement before replying. "Oh, you know how I just looove the girl talk." Roberto quipped taking another small sip of his drink. In typical Tabitha fashioned she followed his lead, and ordered herself a cosmo. "A cosmo?" Robert inquired with a raised brow. "Lame." He stated finishing off his drink. Roberto couldn't help, but smile at her she really didn't seem to have changed one bit. She was one of his closest partner's in crime back when they were just kids running around the mansion with relatively no care in the world. He remembered talking her into putting a one of those bombs, of her into Sam's sandwich so that right before he took a bite the sandwich exploded in his face. The memories brought a smile to his face, they had had some good times. Him, and Tabitha were quite the little trouble makers back in the day. And although he'd never admit it he would've given anything to go back to those days....times seemed to be so much simpler then. Robert was about to ask her how'd she been, and what she had been up to the usual catch up questions friends tended to ask each other after not having seen each other for awhile. Before he could get a word out Tabitha had started talking again...getting right to the point as always. She asked him if he remembered a girl named Christina...he didn't but he was terrible with names. She elaborated more reminding him of her powers, when she said that he started to remember who she was talking about, or at least who he thought she was talking about. "Yeah, what about her." Robert said finished off his drink. Tabitha then told him that she'd been talking to the girl a lot lately, and recently she hadn't been able to get in touch with her. She then asked Roberto if he wanted to check it out with her...he really didn't want to after everything that had happened he wasn't really in any mood to go play detective. But alas Tabitha was not an easy girl to say no to....he was just about to make up some lie about how busy he was, and wasn't sure if he had enough time to check it out when Tabitha spoke again. "I've just got a bad feeling about it..." Robert sighed...he knew it was a wrap from there. "Sure, but uhh think we can eat first...or is this like a nine one one emergency type thing we got going on." Robert said with a smile...he was really happy to see his old friend again. |

Tabitha watched her old friends face as she told him of her plans, she knew the look in his eyes all to well. Bobby's head tilted as he gave his response, though she knew he loved her and trusted her Tabby couldn't help but feel like the Lucy to his Ethel. For as long as she could remember it had bee this way, she would get an idea in her head, cook up a hair-brained scheme and drag Roberto along with her. "Well, she's been missing for days now, what another hour? Besides, I've never been the type to turn down a free meal with a handsome man." Standing from her chair and making her way behind his chair the blond girl leaned in to his ear. "Maybe tonight, after we save the world and right the wrongs you can buy me something pretty. Order for me, I trust you. I'm gonna go to the little girls room." "And now you're looking at my toosh..." she whispered under her breath as she walked away. The next little bit went by pretty quickly as the two old friends laughed and shared food, it had been a long time since Tabitha felt this way, this free. It was nice to just be young again, to talk as if the world wasn't always on the verge of crashing down around her. After dinner the two mutants made their way onto the city streets, deciding not to wear her overcoat but just hold it in her hand Meltdown hailed a cab. "And so it begins..." she said with wide eyes. Climbing into the bright yellow car Boom Boom draped her head across Bobby's lap sending her long hair cascading across his legs. Taking his hand into her own she looked up and into his eyes. "She'll be okay, right? We'll get there, walk through the door ans she'll have just had the flu, right?" |

It seemed that time apart didn't really help out Roberto's ability to resist Tabitha's charms she could still talk him into doing just about anything she wanted, whether he felt it was a good idea or not. He was relieved that they would be able to at least get a bite to eat before rushing off into whatever craziness that Tabitha had gotten them into. After successfully getting him to agree to accompany her to check on their old friend, she walked behind him and hinted that he should buy her a present of some sort before strolling off to the bathroom asking him to order for her while she was gone. He couldn't resist sneaking a peek at her bottom, before flagging down the waitress and ordering himself a pork sandwich, and opting to order a roast beef sandwich for Tabitha. By the time she had gotten back from the restroom, the food was there. And they ate catching up a bit, but he could tell by how Tabitha was acting that she was really trying to speed things up so that they could go check on Christina who Roberto still wasn't even quite sure he remembered. They finished eating, and Roberto barely even had time to pay the bill before Tabitha was rushing them outside, and into the nearest taxi. Once they were inside the vehicle, and Tabitha told the driver where to go Roberto soon found Tabitha laying in his lap, and looking to him for emotional support. A role that Roberto didn't really pride himself in playing for people. "I'm she's fine...sick or something like you said." Roberto said looking down at his old friend. "You worry too much." He added hoping to make Boom-Boom feel better. |
