Location: The White King's personal home and workshop in Texas

"Stop here," Sage ordered, calling the vehicle to a stop. She opened the door and stepped out into the rain. Since Forge's home was so secluded, she did not worry about traffic as she crossed the black top and walked down into a muddy ditch that was on the other side from where the rented car was parked. Tessa wore boots and black tactical clothing, not caring if she got covered in filth while achieving what she had set out to do. "Somewhere," she said quietly to herself, scanning the ground and glancing up to the telephone pole. "There."

Sage moved a few more steps forward quickly, climbing out of the ditch and into the tall uncut grass. She was only a hundred yards or so from Forge's home, but she knew that he didn't simply trust the seclusion of the place for security. Knowing him, there would be equal or more security protocols in place than his workshop back in New York that was within the Hellfire Club.

Approaching a three foot tall hideous green metal box that was hard to see because of the overgrown grass on the side of the road, Tessa bent down and found it to be locked. Damn telephone company. She stood straight, looking towards the road to ensure there were no cars on the horizon, and then raised her boot enough to viciously kick downwards on the lock, sheering off the handle instead of worrying with cutting the lock itself. The metal doors squeaked in protest as she opened it, then Sage took a knee in the mud as she looked inside.

Unfortunately, whether anyone liked it or not, no one could escape the grid. A person could set up private networks, databases, firewalls, and other sorts of security precautions, but there would always be a door left open to the grid. Entering within the grid and thanks to the close proximity to Forge's home, Sage quickly found her way into his home. In a moment's time, she analyzed, infiltrated, and undermined all security precautions that the White King had set up around his home. It was clear from the thirty seconds or more that Sage took that Forge had been thorough and only a person with special talents and training could disarm his more advanced security precautions. Unfortunately for him, Sage was one of those dangerous people.

"It is done, proceed down to the gate. It is open," Sage instructed as she returned to the vehicle, nodding to the two Black Pawns that sat in the driver and passenger seats. She took a seat in the rear of the vehicle and they proceeded down the short stretch of road, turning into Forge's gated driveway. As they went down the driveway, the Black Pawn who drove cut out the lights. The house was set back away from the road quite a ways, so after driving for several minutes in complete darkness, the lights of the home finally came into view.

Normally, the gates would have been closed and countless security cameras would have already picked them up. However, thanks to Sage taking care of the situation before they entered Forge's property, they were ghosts. And, in her time as a White Pawn, she learned that it took quite a bit for Forge to get distracted from his work. He was most likely in his workshop tinkering with something or another.

As Sage approached the front entrance, a red beam of light shot out from a panel beside the door, quickly scanning over her features. The panel then flashed red and a robotic voice announced that access was denied. Sage reached out and touched the panel and instantly it blinked green. "Welcome home, Forge," the robotic voice then said and the front door clicked as it was unlocked.

"You, stay here. You, come with me," Tessa ordered the two pawns, stepping inside the well lit interior of the home and proceeding down the hallway. Though the interior of the home was lavish and rich in decor, Sage looked straight ahead as she moved through the home, walking as if she knew exactly where she was going. After proceeding down a set of stairs, she moved down another hallway that did not seem abnormal. As she walked, Sage reached out and touched the wall, letting her fingers skim along it's surface as she moved along. Finally, she paused. "Here."

Out of nowhere, a computer monitor flipped around, disguised within the wall itself. It was another security feature, requiring several different forms of input in order to access the workshop. At the moment, it was asking Sage to stand still in order to scan her retina. Tessa shook her head in response, keeping her finger upon the security panel's surface. For close to a minute, she stood there silently, hacking and disabling the countermeasures that would be encountered if someone unauthorized entered the workshop. She had to hand it to him, Forge had taken his time with securing the interior.

"There," Sage said, and once again a computerized voice welcomed Forge into the workshop. An unseen door opened on the wall of the hallway, which was invisible to the naked eye before. Tessa proceeded down the staircase and moved down until the wall to her right turned into glass. from the thickness, she could tell it was a wall that would be hard to break through, though transparent. Finally coming to a seam, she reached up and touched the wall, accessing a security system that appeared upon the wall like a HUD.

As she worked to open the door to the workshop, her eyes searched through until they settled upon Forge. He was sitting at a work bench with his back to her, slumped forward. Either he had fallen asleep or he was bent in such a way to look at something small. So far, her infiltration into his home had gone unnoticed. When this door opened, that would change and she could have a fight on her hands. However... she still had the element of surprise.

"Forge," Sage said simply as the glass door slid open on silent hinges. Reaching behind her back, Tessa withdrew a white pistol and took aim. Forge, of course, set down what he was working on and looked back at her in surprise. "Good to see you, my King," she said in a mocking tone. The pistol that she held in her hand hummed and a blue orb spun within it's chamber and then she pulled the trigger and unleashed a blue concussive blast that took the White King to the ground.

Sage tossed the pistol back to the Black Pawn and then crossed the room, walking over to Forge in order to nudge him with her toe. As she looked down at his unconscious body, a smile came to her face.

A short time later...

"Did he fight?" the Black Pawn asked as Sage exited the front entrance of Forge's home.

"No, he was quite surprised," Tessa answered, turning and touching the security panel once more. The light flickered back to red.

"Good. We must return to New York, my Queen," the pawn said, turning and walking back to the car. He paused a few steps down the sidewalk and turned back to her. "Are you sure he is taken care of?"

"You question me?" Sage asked, stepping down onto the sidewalk and approaching the pawn in the darkness. "Every security feature in the house has been turned against him. When he awakes, it will be impossible to make it out of his own workshop alive. Let's just say... his home is now his prison. Yes... it is safe to say that the White King is no longer someone to worry about."

The Black Pawn let out a small growl, the grin on his face indicating that it was a pleasurable one. Sage returned the smile and somewhere deep inside her throat something made a clicking sound, almost like a purr. The two pawns seemed to accept this response and they all moved back towards the car.
