A pair of deep brown coloured eyes stared up at the Worthington complex as the man shifted from side to side. It had been almost a year and a half since he had seen this tower or even been in this city. Now that he recalled it, it was after Apocalypse; actually after Betsy had helped free his mind from Famine. Standing on the street with his hands in the pockets of his trench coat, Jono tilted his head to look at the top of tower. What he remembered of the complex was that it had living quarters on the top floors with the remainder being the business aspect of Angel's company. The wind caressed his bandaged face and Jono swept his hair out of his eyes and behind an ear. He stepped forward into the shadow of the building and pushed through the door. Pushing open the door with one hand he entered the air conditioned building and instantly swept the building with his telepathy. Sensing people upstairs and in the higher levels Jono headed for the elevator, his boots clicking against the ground. Pressing the button he waited patiently for the door to open and once it did he stepped in silently pressing the button for the upper levels. The ride went smoothly to the upper levels and with a ping the doors opened just in time to see someone charge down the hallway. Jono had briefly caught sight of the man, and he couldn't remember if he had met him before. Stopping at a window he immediately caught sight of the fleet of alien ships over New York. How he had missed that he had no idea, they were huge floating silently over the city. His eyes widened and he pulled his hands out of his pockets. It was no longer a time to be passive, now was a time to act. Reaching up he pulled down a little of his bandage exposing a corner of his furnace to the air. At the same time his eyes flared to life with the same power, changing from a brown to a fiery red. Following the mental vibrations of the other s he headed down the same hall that the other man had ran down. As he turned another corner, he skidded to a stop seeing that it had filled up with people. He noticed many of them such as Kurt, Paige, Terry but the others he wasn't sure about. That or he did but couldn't remember them. ::What is going on here?:: he said saying the first things he had said to people that he hadn't seen in forever. |

While this little reunion was sure to be touching, they just didn't have time. As much as she'd like to stand here and catch the stink-eye from Hellion, again, not much time. The arrival of both Volt and X-23, X-Factorites Extraordinaires, had been welcome, even if at the outset it only added to the confusion. But when Karma heard the brawl breaking out none-to-far away, she heard it too, and speeding after her, she pulled the lenses down over her eyes, skidding to a halt outside the door to the lounge-room. "We don't have time for infighting, and if one of them is one of those, we don't have time for that either." Her foot arched up and struck out, kicking the door free of the latch and sending it swinging open wide. Noriko rushed in, gloves primed and humming with electricity pirated away from the building's electrical systems and stored both in her body and in the ingenious coils that lined the interior of the bulky works of Hank McCoy's genius. Her hand shot outward and a thin beam of lightning split the air with cyan blue vibrancy and a loud crack, striking the blade and sending its pieces wide and away. Her hand lowered , palm smoking as the red-orange glow around its refracting lens began to sizzle in it's cooling. "One of you is one of them." She said. I'm gonna bet its the one Karma just saw try to stab Hellion." Logan had taught her something back in Japan. It was that sometimes, despite not knowing, you just had to go with your gut. "And I bet its the same one who just tried to ice-shiv one of his best friends." She sped then around the room, a trail of bright spidering arcs crackling in her wake as she arched along the wall and kicked off, sailing across the room toward Fake-Drake and sending a foot in a wide spinning arc towards his shoulder. |

Uniform? Check. Modified PDA with all current data, programs, theories, and extrapolations? Check. Backup PDA? Check. Backup uniform? Check. The lab work had been thrilling, amazingly difficult, and had stretched reality a few times over the weeks, however it was about to pay off. Paige was ready for this. Even better they were ready for this. The X-Men were going to work through this invasion and render it just another foot note in the list of times they saved the world. These Skrull had picked the wrong planet and the wrong folk to mess with. Husk made the final adjustments to both her equipment and her uniform before joining the rest of the team in the lobby. She stepped off the elevator and into a scene of madness. A list of who was who among the factions had walked in the door outta the clear blue spaceship filled sky. Xi'an Coy Manh, Julian Keller, Laura Kinney, Jonathan Harper, and.... Jonothan Starsmore? Jono was back? Chamber was here? For a moment the metamorph forgot about the aliens, the invasion, and even to breathe. Next she was fighting off an impulse to get back on the elevator. This was not planned for, not something she could have predicted. She glanced wildly around at the jumbled mess that was to be their gathering place as the elevator dinged closed. Paige gritted her teeth, toke a few steps forward and let her eyes and thoughts take in the chaos and attempt to sort it out. Volt and X-23 were from X-Factor her old faction. They were most likely here seeking help or to grant assistance. A further rationale might be they were following a lead back to it's source. With the Skrull revealing themselves that was a high possibility. Karma and Hellion... no ideas there. None at all and right now was a bad time for wild cards. Chamber... what was Jono doing here? He had been missing since Apocalypse had twisted him. Her heart still fluttered when she looked at his power packed frame and heard his mental voice in her mind. He seemed at least as confused as she did. Then things went from confusing and awkward to something worse. Noriko and Xi'an took off down the hall and burst into the lounge and into battle with Hellion right on their heels. Paige watched the commotion and noted that it involved Kurt and Bobby. She mentally brought up the properties of a super tough nylon66 compound. In a few moments her body would have the attributes of the resilient, temperature ignoring substance and she would be ready to husk. She was hopeful that this battle wouldn't require her though. The Guthrie sibling would rather play damage control and help sort things out once the dust settled. |

As things were becoming increasingly chaotic, more and more people showing up, Chralla was glad that she had not struck Noriko. Two members of X-Factor, indeed perhaps the most deadly of their number, had shown up suddenly, no doubt there to lend a hand to the too-few X-men who were here in the city. As Theresa Rourke, she knew the male clone reasonably well from the redhead’s visits to X-Factor’s headquarters as they had been, and she knew his dapper, almost clownish behaviour hid almost intimidating intelligence and ability to kill. The brunette by his side, she did not know as well, personally, but her reputation preceded her. She was almost as dangerous as Wolverine. Siryn’s keen ears clued her into the brawl and her brows knitted together in a show of confusion, mirrored in similar expressions given by most of those around her. She knew what was going on, even as she gave Julian a smile, remembering what had happened a few days ago. Oh if only he knew…Chralla had to stop herself from smiling as she hurried up beside the dark haired man. “Hey…Are you alright? Yer weren’t stabbed?” the Irish accent was impeccable, suitably concerned as she reached out to touch his arm, then pulled back, whirling around as Noriko rushed through a door. Oh, yes…She was smart to wait. Allow them to deal with this, if they could, then when the moment was right and they were comfortable…or even more vulnerable if Yez’led’s plan worked as well as it had been planned. Yet more people had arrived, but they stood around uselessly, not even saying anything. Again, as Theresa, the Skrull knew who they were. Let them stay there, it would not matter in the end, when all was said and done. Stepping forwards, she looked through the door which Surge had shot through, then back to the others, careful to make sure that her gaze was on Julian the longest. “We should do somethin,” she said with a fierce sort of defiance, then turned and ran after her ‘friend’. Coming to a halt, she looked around, sea coloured eyes wide and appropriately perplexed. “What the fuck?” gasping, she mentally derided the Irish girl’s language. Chralla could not wait until she was able to speak properly once more, instead of like some little guttersnipe…but most of all, because when that day came, the Queen would rule. |

The devil's tail flicked wildly behind him, its bladed tip slicing at the air as his glowing yellow glare remained on the imposter. Fangs bared like the Biblical creature that he resembled. The creature that had assumed the visage of Robert Drake spoke in a condescending tone, amused by the fact that Kurt would proclaim him false. But the devil was adamant about his words -- he would not say such things without the evidence still chilling on the rooftop. "Fuck it... No way to talk myself out of this one." "There is not," Kurt affirmed. His appendages twitched, ready to move at a moment's notice. Yez'led, the doppelganger called himself. The name was unfamiliar to Kurt, foreign and strange. A foreigner himself to this place, there was no judgment he typically passed to another simply on a name. But this one was alien, not truly following anything known in the world as Kurt was aware of. Perhaps that explained Elixir's discoveries, perhaps these Skrulls truly were aliens. Kurt measured the other carefully, holding his snarl, his eyes never leaving the imposter. Yez'led had been Bobby for almost a year and a shock it was. How many meals had he shared with this imposter? How many nights under the same roof? The Skrull had possessed every facet of the true Iceman. Yez'led spoke of how he came to replace Bobby. After Hartley had been sent to the hospital after X-Corps was attacked. From then on, the Skrull destroyed every relationship the young man had. Had this creature no compassion? No sense of morality? Was it so cold through and through? "Monster. You are nothing but a boogy man taking shape of someone we cared for," Kurt seethed. The devil was ready for the attack. He knew much of Bobby's talents, the range of his powers. The very fact that Yez'led threw the ice from his hands was a courtesy. The omega-level phantom could have simply turned the air behind him to a wall of ice shards, and that would have been that. The devil bounded to the side and up onto a wall, the deathly cold ice spikes impaling furniture and walls behind where he had been standing a moment ago. "I have been to Hell," Kurt growled, running along the wall with all fours as he reflected on that subject. Worlds collided and the reality warping powers of Onslaught had taken him to an inter-dimensional place of fire and brimstone and worst of all, solitude. "Some say I was born there." He went upside down, bounding across the ceiling. A blistering arc of lightning crackled into the room, the arrival of the electro-speedster showing brilliantly even in the light of the complex. For a moment Kurt glanced at her, just to make sure it wasn't her that was green and scaly too. "He attacked Logan on the roof. He is frozen!" Kurt informed her before she ran into her blitz. Lightning shot around the room as the went on the attack, the electric energies dancing all around. Were his fur already not on end, the static energies would have made them stand. Kurt waited for the opportune moment, Surge's foot snapping toward the false Iceman's shoulder. Whether or not she struck, Kurt did not care to know. He disappeared into black and violet, and reappeared behind the Skrull. Arms wrapped around the assailant's neck and arm, forcing the Skrull's arm up awkwardly. He had to stop the Skrull before the full potential of Iceman's powers were realized. "You speak as though you are familiar with Hell. Shall I show you the true Robert Drake's?" A cloud of smoke built for two exploded in the air around them both and both the devil and abominable snowman disappeared from the complex. <Thread to be posted soon.> |

Damn. The devil bounced, he talked about Hell. “Yadda Yadda Yadda. People say I talk too much. Well… By me I mean Bobby.” He smirked quite cruelly at Nightcrawler. Suddenly Noriko burst in. Her electricity was something that if given the right attack could benefit Yez’led. But he had a strong feeling that this wasn’t the case. Before Kurt could shout out what he had done he called out, “Nori! Thank God! It’s Kurt he’s one of them!” It turns out she didn’t believe him. Damnit. Kurt’s words came quick to what he had done. He would have to take care of Nori as well as Kurt. Take down as many as possible, that was the plan. Yez’led still had an ace in the hole. Chralla. Nori’s kick connected with the faux Iceman right into the hands of the blue Devil. He held him in a lock that Yez’led couldn’t escape. Maybe he’d just freeze the blue twerp and be done with him. It would have been easy, just go too cold for the fuzzy X-Man to handle. No one but Bobby seemed to handle the extreme cold, well, now he could too. But before he could have any sort of reaction Kurt asked if he shall show Yez’led the real Robert Drake’s Hell, “I can promise it's not as bad as my Hell, X-Man.” The last taunt and jeer he’d held in the room before they were engulfed in a puff of bad smelling smoke. [Exit.] |

She burst into the room just after the others, and much like the first time, was a day late and a dollar short. She watched the flurry of ice, smoke, and lightning unfold in a furious and lethal ballet, and as Kurt stole Bobby away, she turned to look to the others. The X died hard, it seemed, and looking to the others as they followed up, Xi'an's face screwed from an expression of confusion into one of stern leadership. "Logan's on the roof, we have to get up there and get him out. Maybe Terry can blast some of the ice off?" She looked to the flame-haired girl. Jono you can help speed up the thaw, too." The back of her mind was riddled and fraught with worry over whether Kurt would be able to handle the impostor on his own. He seemed to have Bobby's powers, and if the creature in his skin learned of just how high that power climbed, well... there was nothing they could do right now except for to pray for Kurt. The man was crafty, and a an ineffably trained fighter. Faith was what he needed right now. They had work to do here. "Surge, take Volt and Laura to the rooftop to see if you can speed Logan's thawing. Mr. Keller, if you truly want to help, go with Terry and Chamber to see if you can round anyone else up. Nobody travels this building alone if there are more of these impostors among us." She looked to Pagie. "You can fill me in." She then looked to the two X-Factor members that'd joined them. "Glad to see you guys here, I assume this visit has to do with all of this madness. Hopefully you know something we don't. Or I don't. Guh." She rubbed her temples, clamoring back out into the hall, fishing her gear out of her bag. "I'll assume there's some sort of info in Warren's miniature war room. Let's us four head there. She waved Paige after her. "Where the heck is Warren? And Scott?" She knew they'd relocated to that secret Savage Lands base, but with all this excitement she figured they'd have already been here. It seemed like she had a lot of catching up to do. |

Keller charged into the room just moments behind Nori, rushing head first into the complex that had been morphed into a make-shift battle ground as ice shards were thrown, puffs of mauve smoke popped and bolts of electricity crackled. In a quick flurry the room was silent again as the elf and the snowman disappeared once more. A quiet stillness befell the room as Terry came up alongside him, touching Keller's arm to bring his attention back to her. Julian's expression was defenceless to stop a small smirk from tugging his lips as he whispered, "I'm..." Blinking the Californian paused. Today's list of weird shit was getting longer by the minute. Alien invasion, Bobby's trying to kill him, and he just walked into the one place he never thought he'd ever see himself inside again was just at the very tip of what was a weird day. Julian was running on pure adrenaline, passion, if Hellion stopped to think about everything and how he felt about it, he would probably need to sit down and not get up again for a long time. "...Fine." Like that was believable. "You?" He looked on her a moment longer, lingering as Xi'an started to bark orders that grabbed his attention. Right, Terry and Jono...the other new guy? Was going to thaw Logan. Wait, Nori and Volt and Laura...the two Simon Cowell kids are going to help speed up the de-icing on the Wolverine. Huh? I'm going to go look for people whilst with Terry and a Chamber? Wrinkling his nose, Julian shook his head. "Okay wait, why not we all go to the roof, together?" He lifted his hands defensively hoping to be heard for a moment before he was told to 'shut up or leave'. He was so great at making and keeping friends... "If there's more of these...doppelgängers about, how do we know who is and who isn't? I just got here and Bobby's already trying to stab me in the back, how do I know that Nori won't be next? Or Saint Emo's Fire?" He nodded to Jono, the kid's skin was so pale Julian wondered if he had ever seen the sun. "I'm as clueless as you Xi'an, why not have Guthrie and the X-couple tell us all what's going on, what Logan and Warren knows from here and what Summers version 2.0 knows?" Shrugging the man peered from Paige to the other two newcomers before glancing back to Karma, "Rather than just you. We all go up to get Logan, and on the way we all hear what is happening elsewhere so that none of us are left clueless. Splitting us into groups of three or four just plays into 'their' hands." Whatever 'they' were so far it looked like 'Bobby' was trying to divide and conquer. "You've seen the 'Thing' movie, right? Scary-killer alien can easily kill when there's only two victims with it. Much harder to kill when there's three more pairs of eyes on the thing." The Californian wasn't going to hold back from saying what was on his mind, Keller was vocal, it was the way he was put together and he could see the worry and concern in people's expressions, Hellion didn't need to be a telepathic to work that out. Right now safety was in numbers, "Besides, who am I going to find to join the...cause between here and the roof? Is that where all the cool superheroes hang out in times of need?" Pointing out to the city beyond the window, the vast shadow of the alien spaceship continued to cast its shadow over New York. "People are panicking out there, we can't waste time running about hoping to find someone to help. We are the help. X-Factor are doing something, yeah?" He nodded to Volt and Laura, "And I bet SHIELD are already responding. We need to get Logan and then get on an offensive, not aimlessly run around looking for more people whilst the fuckers that pretend to be our best friends pick us off one after the other." Finally Keller shrugged, "Look I'll do as you asked and play on the team but we have to play careful." Julian watched as Xi'an began to walk off, sighing inwardly he 'began' doing as was directed. |

In and amid all the mental notes she was taking, Husk was happy to see someone, anyone, finally take charge. Karma was able to do so with both authority and style, the Kentuckian was going to have to learn a few things from her later on. However, they had marching orders and the barest outline of a plan now. Paige drew out her spare PDA and tossed it toward Karma as she turned to head towards the lab. “Short version, skin changers that can duplicate their target down to the genetic level are present among us and have switched places with an unknown number of the populace. The duping is amazingly perfect and complete. So Bobby walking among us undetected for so long is no one's fault. Kurt will handle him. In the mood he's in Mr. Wagner could handle Satan himself.” She paused for breath and did a quick inspection of the troops assembled here. She ran through a mental checklist of what she knew of their powers and what little bit of their personalities she could call up. “We lost contact with Utopia a few weeks ago, an act of sabotage that I am sure we can now blame correctly on these... Skrull. They are presumably behind the blackbird being put out of commission as well. This is really bad here folks. We don't know who to trust and the possibility of back up is slim. I estimate that chances are high that up to one in any grouping of four is an imposter. In other words be cautious and if your best friend acts up move to disable, then question.” Without missing a beat the blonde spun to head towards the roof instead, as she launched into a fusion of Hellion's concerns and Karma's orders. “That being said, Chamber's powers are psionic in nature so he most likely won't be of much use with the dethaw. Volt and Surge's abilities can most likely help out Wolverine. However Hellion's suggestion is a good one. Right now there is legitimate safety in numbers and whatever people we might find on the way would be better confronted with a group. I am headed to the roof as well unless there's an objection. That will give me an unparallelled view of the city and let us know how deep this cow pie is before we jump towards it.” |

"Me?" She wanted to punch Keller in the nose. But that wasn't anything new, really. She always wanted to punch Keller in the nose. "You could do with taking things with a little less fucking lackadais, ya runoff jerk." She pulled the lenses back up from her eyes, giving him a look laced with a lot of anger and a little impatience, or maybe too much of both. "You're a fine one to traipse in here and just-" "Nori." came Karma's voice as the woman looked up briefly from Paige. "He's right, splitting up probably isn't the best route, but maybe we want to give them the chance, if you catch my drift. They think we're all sitting ducks in a smaller group, they're more likely to out themselves, its risky but its a risk we might want to take." Noriko eased up a bit, looking first to Hellion and then to the others as Xi'an went back to listening to Husk. And then Noriko heard husk. "How deep? We just got a collect call from the mothership and there's freakin' space-ships in the sky, Paige, you can see that out any given window." She shook her head and moved towards the emergency stairwell. "Let's all go check it out, or let's just a couple go check it out, but we probably oughtta make it quick, you know, fate of the world and all. Volt, is Havok with you?" Scott's brother would make it quick, and since apparently Jono's fire didn't burn, he was the best suited if her were present. She didn't know what was going on. There was no manual for this, no sort of of exercise in the Danger Room labele "Oh hey your friends might be aliens." But if she knew Summers, it wouldn't be long now before there was one. |

OOC: Sorry to go out of turn, but we need to get this on track. "Yeah, he's downstairs with Box." Volt said in confirmation to Surge's question. "Then yeah," Karma said. "He's probably the best person for the job." She looked to everyone else. This was such a jarring transition back into X-Man-hood. She hadn't even slept since before her plane ride across the country. Shan found solace, though, in the small favor that her plane had landed before all this. No comms traffic was likely to do one hell of a number on landing anything. "And you guys are right, we should stick together. Let's get to the Warroom. I need to suit up, and we need to get a gameplan together. Volt and Laura can handle themselves." She looked at Paige. "I understand that you're trying to help Paige, but we don't need you telling people to 'disable' and 'question' people who are acting just a little out of sorts. That's overboard. That's playing right into their hands. I've dealt with a shapeshifter or two, they play on turning everyone against eachother. We need calm collected heads right now." "X-Men, get ready to go out. We need to touch base with the other X-Camps in the city." She moved back and grabbed her bag, shouldered it. In her head a little prayer went out to Logan, to Kurt, and, perhaps surprisingly, to Kurt's opponent, because when Wolverine was freed from that trap, well, that green impostor was going to need all the help it could get. She looked to Hellion. "Warren's gone, according to Paige. Kurt's out fighting, Logan's getting what help he can. We need to get out there and protect people. That's priority one right now. You saw it on your way over, I'm sure. People are scared, and we have a colony of mutants in Brooklyn that are likely to do something bad if they get to thinking about it too much" "Rally up in fifteen, don't go anywhere without two partners. We'll pile on in something. Mutant Town should be priority one." And with that, she headed back towards the command center. [End; To be Continued Elsewhere Soon] |
