Time: Afternoon, after MacReady Complex Date: May 20th For the past couple of hours Klr'ik had been hauled up in the living quarters of Tyrone Johnson, the X-Man he had been posing as for over a month. The reason for his self-containment? The Brood, the race that had brought the Skrull Empire to its knees and now the one race capable of resisting the Skrull's new offensive had returned. At the first opportunity he had contacted the other Skrull who were operating within the complex, with the messages having been delivered it was now a waiting game for them to arrive. Time was going to be of the essence if this small squad of Skrull was going to survive and at the same time, this Squad of Skrull were one of the most important pieces of the Queen's plan if they failed here it would only be a matter of time until the Brood were strong enough to take on the might of the might of the Skrull. As the first knocks came, Klr'ik opened the door long enough for the Skrull warriors to enter, now was not a time for human social etiquette, to date Klr'ik had successfully carried out his Queen's orders and he was not about to start failing now. <"I'm glad you could all come, we have much to discuss."> There was an edge of concern in the Skrull's voice, they needed to come to an agreement. <"The Brood Queen is making her move and we are going to need to counter this, or the Queen's plans will be jeopardized."> The Skrull paused to look around at the other Skrull warriors that had been gathered, Nat'ren had been captured but he had been a wild card when selected for the mission being so young. They would have to move without him and hope that he didn't tell the mutants of exactly who else had been captured. <"I have an idea that we could rid us of the Brood, but we will all need to agree to it."> |

Xia was scared. Or rather, the mind of Laurie Collins was. The Skrull had been hiding away all morning and afternoon in Laurie Collins’ dorm as she waited for the storm to pass. She could sense their presence, and she didn’t dare step outside or into battle, for fear of being compromised. She didn’t often get scared before this mission, but she had adapted to the emotional rollercoaster that often went on in the head of the blond captive. Alas, she was a warrior, and she would overcome this useless human emotion and do what had to be done. As soon as it was deemed safe, Xia had been contacted by Klr’ik and invited for a discussion/meeting amongst all of the Skrulls stationed in Utopia. This was good, they needed a plan of some sort. The Brood couldn’t get out of control, and they couldn’t succeed; else, their Queen’s goals would be crushed, and they could very likely descend into the Bad Times, take two. That simply would not stand. Xia navigated the halls of the base in the familiar body of Laurie Collins, offering worried smiles to anyone she passed, reflecting the worry that Laurie would undoubtedly be feeling after such a dire situation as The Brood attack, until she reached the room of Klr’ik. She arrived around the same time as the others; Xell’irks and Gr’tlyn. Nat’ren… he should have been here, and would have had he not faltered and compromised his identity. Though to be honest, Xia hadn't been surprised. He was far too young to take on such a responsibility. They would have to deal with that sooner or later, she was sure. As they piled in and the door was shut, the meeting began. Klr’ik spoke in their native tongue, and Xia felt an odd sense of relief wash over her. It had been too long since she had conversed with anyone in this manner. Klr’ik addressed the appearance of the Brood Queen, and Xia nodded in understanding. They needed to do something about this situation; they needed to take action, to conquer her. And Xia was ready. She would push past the faults of this human brain, and would not be held back. Xia was not a coward, never had been and never would be. No matter the cost, they would conquer this Brood army. However, how they could take on this Queen, she hadn’t a clue. Luckily, Klr’ik did. Xia looked at him expectantly as he paused before he explained his plan, probably to assess their reactions. <”Well, don’t just stand there,”> she responded in her usual harsh tone. It was common knowledge that Xia wasn’t exactly the nicest Skrull on Skrullos, but her intentions were good and her loyalty was with the Queen, which was all that mattered. <”What is this plan of yours, and how do we carry it out successfully?”> Her eyes flashed, and glanced around at the others. <”We are all aware of the magnitude of this situation. There is no room for error, fellow warriors. There cannot be another failure in our midst.”> |

Just a short while ago, Marrow, or the Brood Queen posessing her had made a daring escape right out from under the collective noses of the Utopian X-Man. They'd fought valiantly, and so had some of the students; it was all for naught though as the vile Brood and her underlings had escaped with help of the infected wildlife. He'd made sure he was nowhere near that when it happened, as the Brood had a nasty and annoying habit of knowing who was a Skrull...and then attempting to kill them. He liked living, so they sensible thing was to find something else to do when it happened. Still, he'd been forced to kill several Brood infested saurians out in the jungle while the main fight was going on. He was cleaning himself off when he got the summons from Klr'ik, who was posing as Cloak and had been for some time. If they were meeting up; all of them...it had to be important. He finished up in his room and made his way towards Klr'ik's; also making extra sure to act as much like Rho as possible along the way. He stopped, got a bit of food; joked around with a few friends. In fact, he actually got a bit sidetracked as people kept finding things to annoy him with. Eventually, he ducked around a corner and phased into the wall; it would be much easier to get to his destination if he took a route only accessible to him. Then he realized that Rho hadn't interacted with Cloak all that much, and he didn't know how to get there. A quick flight outside the complex and he made his way back in; then of course he had to ask around for a bit before he finally got directions. He found his way easy enough after that and phased through the wall; he didn't bother with the door as it wasted precious time. He waited for Klr'ik while the others arrived, and crossed his arms while he informed them of the situation. <"Whatever we discuss, and whatever our plan of action; they must be swift. The wildlife have fallen under the vile queen's sway, and how many more of the students and X-Men infected is a mystery. We could be surrounded and not know it yet."> Like the genuine article would do in a moment like this, Xel'lirks' legs tucked underneath him as he began to hover a few feet off the ground. He cupped his chin with his thumb and index finger in thought before looking at Klr. <"What is this plan of yours?:> |

Klr'ik continued to pace back and forth along the small room that had been his quarters for the past month, he then paused to look between Xia and Xel'irk. What he was about to propose could easily have him executed back on Skrullos, but they were in desperate times and desperate times call for desperate measures. Measures that Klr'ik was prepared to take if it ensured the long term survival of his people. <"Before I go any further if you both disagree with my way of thinking then we'll leave it as is and continue with the original plan."> The Skrull finally stopped pacing, he'd now found a spot on the wall to lean against. He thought for a moment as to how best to word his plan, but no matter how hard he tried, some things can't be sugar coated. <"The X-Men are supposedly the best at what they do, and there are only four of us here in Utopia."> Klr'ik paused for a moment to see if his fellow Skrull would pick up on his trail of thought before he continued. <"I suggest we call a temporary truce with them, we will go to Summers and offer to aid him in anyway we can with dealing with the Brood and then once she is dealt with, we go back to the original plan."> Klr'ik had now said his piece, it was up to the other Skrull to decide if they were going to be with him, or against him. |

The tone in Klr’ik’s voice was not lost on Xia, as he warned that they may not like his method of thinking. Truth be told, Xia never liked anyone’s method of thinking but her own. However, she would give Klr’ik’s plan a chance; or at least, she would hear it out. But if she didn’t like it, she was not afraid to let him know. Probably using some choice language while doing so. The Skrull folded her arms across her chest as she waited to hear his apparently brilliant plan. He was pacing, and the longer he took, the more the thinner her patience grew. Why was he such a fan of long, dramatic pauses? Finally, when he spat it out, Xia could already tell that she didn’t like the direction in which he was heading. He began by stating the obvious; the X-Men were the best. She had spent enough time among them to know that, and the others who had been in their midst longer would know that tenfold. Additionally, she was aware just how outnumbered they were in this place. They had been outnumbered to begin with, but now had even fewer comrades, what with Nat’ren’s failure. Did Xia believe they were powerful enough to take on the Brood? Absolutely, but that was in large part due to her enlarged ego. When he was finished explaining his idea, Xia pinched the bridge of her nose with her thumb and forefinger. “As promising a plan as that is for ridding our species of the Brood once and for all, there does seem to be a flaw. You say the X-Men are the best at what they do, and I would have to agree. So, say that we team up with them; we reveal ourselves and risk death upon our return to Skrullos. In fact, we may not even make it back home if we reveal ourselves. We all know what’s going to happen to Nat’ren. And that means yet another failure for our species.” Her eyes flickered between her gathered brethren. “Do we really want to take that risk? Being rid of the Brood would be a great triumph, I don’t deny that, and will mean safety for our species and our planet, but do we risk failure before the plan can even be properly executed? They could send warriors to take care of us before we’ve completed the task, and then where will we be? The Brood could succeed without us to stop them.” The Skrull took a moment to make eye contact with Xell’irks. As much as she wished it were only her opinion that mattered, she was not alone in this scenario, nor was she put in charge. Naturally, that meant everyone had a say in exactly how they handled their situations. Letting out an irritated sigh, Xia addressed her other comrade. “Well, I've said my piece. Let’s hear your opinion, then. I may not like it, but if it's the best chance we have at being rid of the Brood...” her jaw clenched. |

Density Manipulation, Flight

As he bobbed up in down in the air waiting for Klr'ik to reveal to them what he was planning, Xel was getting slightly impatient. Things were reaching a fever pitch and every moment they delayed pushed the plan further back and put them at further chance of risk. In the words of the humans, he'd be damned before he let the Brood discover and try to devour him. He nodded at his fellow Skrulls precautionary warning before telling him to "Spit it out" and chancing a quick glance at Xia. He turned in the air to face Klr'ik on the wall and nodded his head slowly as he finally explained his plan. Long story short, he proposed joining forces with the X-Men to defeat their common enemy in the Brood. It was a huge risk, and an obvious long shot, but the Brood were multiplying at an alarming rate and would soon overcome all with sheer numbers. Servitude and subjugation had to be better than unwilling assimilation. They had to take the bait. While he was going over the details of the pros and cons in his head, Xia spoke up and explained her stance on the plan of action and her gripes with it. She had her fair share of them, but they all made sense from a certain standpoint. When she was done, she looked at him and asked his opinion. He smiled and inclined his head in a gesture of thanks for considering him. "If we don't reveal ourselves, I believe the Queen will. Her intelligence is predatory and frightening; once she catches our scent, she'll throw us under the bus to sew further discord between the X-Men and make things easier for her Brood. The humans have already shown foolish amounts of compassion in their interactions with Nat'ren. If we show ourselves, chances are they'll work with the enemy they know to defeat the one they don't. Cyclops values tactics above all else...if it makes sense, he'll do it." He took a deep breath and crossed his arms over his chest. "Nat'ren will be dealt with properly when the time is right, but if the Brood aren't stopped, we'll all be dead...I'd rather that didn't happen." He unfolded his legs and stood, looking back and forth between his gathered allies. "I agree with Xia that this is a risk, and I'm sure you know that, Krl'ik. But this plan is a calculated risk with at least a chance of success. On the other hand, just waiting for the Brood to kill all of us will end with all of us in the ground. We don't have to like it, but it's really our only option at this point to keep the original plan in motion once this is dealt with. I vote yes." |
