The moment her fireworks lit up the sky and the aliens rush to investigate, Flashpoint got to work making the ground a very dangerous place for them. Laurie used her mojo to make the guards look like foolish children rushing off to war. That made it a lot easier to deal with them. Jubilee was confident seeing as how she had help save the world on more than one occasion, but dealing with an armada of well-trained soldiers on their home turf was not an ideal situation. As the guards try to maintain control of their footing, Jubilee rushed into the fray. The embers from the giant explosion had set some of the trees on fire adding to the chaos. The trio did not have to win the fight exactly; they just had to keep the aliens’ attention long enough for the others to snatch up as much as possible. Jubilee filled one guy’s chest with scolding hot energy and blasted another with a face full of sparks that singed the flesh. She used the ice that was laid out to move through them quickly. All those years of secretly watching the Ice Capades was paying off finally. She slid between one of the creatures, turned, and then yanked him by the ankles causing him to fall flat on his face. Jubilee slid a few more feet before getting back to her feet. She continued her freeform assault on the green beans wishing that she had a weapon to use. The woman had grown accustomed to using the energy staff that Box provided in her time of need. Jubilee thrust her palm up into someone’s nose before chopping him as hard as she could in the throat. He choked coughing up something nasty looking and fell to the ground. Others soon began to look wore out as if they had run a marathon. Those too tired to stand up dropped as well. “Now’s a good time to fall back, yeah?” “You’re probably right.” Though she did want to stay and keep on kicking butt. Hopefully the others got what they came for. “Okay guys fall back!” She waited for Flash and Laurie to make it pass the trees. Once they were clear, Jubilee fired at the base of two trees on opposite sides. The wood was splintered, burned and blown away taking out the support. The two trees toppled over right toward their opponents. “Booya!” The celebration was short lived. Energy beams from enemy rifles buzzed pass her head. With a mousey squeak she ducked and ran. |

The women did their work as he ducked behind a tree to avoid the incoming hail of bullets, reloading his gun. Their abilities had done their job, and now, with their targets full crazed and the battlefield fully prepared, it was time to fight. If the X-Brat and the Factorite were half as good as their boasting, then he'd have little to worry about. As their attackers closed in, he provided cover fire, trying to remain aware of his squad-mates locations as he leaned around the base of the trunk enough to see where he was aiming. Jubilee tore into the advancing party with no lack of finesse, using the slick ground to her advantage as the other Skrulls staggered and stumbled. She was trained. She was ready and willing, and a seasoned fighter, from what he could tell as he picked and planned his shots. A quick glance to his right told him that Wallflower was responsible for that. It seemed that these X-Fools weren't as naive as he'd been led to believe. But, enough with admiring the scenery. Both Wallflower and Jubilee announced that it was time to retreat. "That's unanimous!" he shouted over the sound of gunfire and burning wood. He got to his feet and skipped back, emptying his clip at their foes. Not too fast... Too fast, and they'll realize... GRAAAAAAAGH!!!! Pain shot through his right shoulder as he screamed. He'd been hit. He tumbled backward as he reached for another clip. This is nothing... NOTHING!!! It was one of the exercises he knew. You get hit, you get shot. The point was to keep firing. He slammed the clip into the gun and got to his feet as he pulled the trigger with his wounded arm. One, two, three, fourfivesixseveneightnine TEN. The adrenaline went straight to his skin as he fell backward again, sending heat surging through his body. "Time to... go..." he groaned as he got back to his feet. Jubilee was already running off. But he didn't have a visual on Wallflower. |

Warpath raised an eyebrow at the suggestion that he had this all planned out. "Uh yeah, sure I do," he coughed a little. Planning was not his forte. James was making this up as he went along, thanking lady luck for her interventions. Mitch observed that they would lose their stealth, and the Apache shrugged. Stealth had served its purpose. Now they needed to get away and pick up the rest of their crew. Firing up the skid, Warpath shifted an uneasy gaze over to Roadkill as the blind mutant asked if anybody would object to him shooting. "Just don't point it my way, bud and we won't have any problems." James fired up the vehicle and put it in what he hoped was drive. Tentatively throttling the steering device forward, the skid shuddered backwards. "Whoah," he said softly correcting his mistake before they crashed into the back wall. "Inverted controls. Lovely." This time he yanked the throttle back, sending them careening out the front of the shed. "Hold on tight boys." He yelled with a whoop, as they zoomed through the compound toward the bright explosions and loud noises where their comrades were fighting off the Skrull guards. Their craft whined across the plain as James "floored it". They quickly came upon the scene of the battle, first crossing over a sheet of ice before barreling through the back of the Skrull vanguard. Green lizard men bounced off their getaway car, with a sickening crunch. Swinging the craft into a sliding spin, James brought the hovercraft to a halt between the Skrulls and the distraction team. Warpath stuck his head out the window, "Someone call for a cab?" |
