Satellite thread happening simultaneously with Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close Nearly black eyes stared out of a golden face as Josh Foley stood on a roof of the building next door to X-Coprs. Like everyone else up there – mutants with a smattering of humans – his gaze was fixed on the skies and the armada that littered them. It was like a scifi movie come to life, and Foley felt very much like one of those random extras who were about to get incinerated by a random blast from the ships. Goodbye Average Joe who's only purpose was to rack up a body count. “Do you...” one faceless voice asked from somewhere behind him. “Yeah...” another one replied. “Is it...” the first asked another unfinished question. “Yeah...” the second answered it absentmindedly. Elixir couldn't take his eyes off the ships. Golden light caught his peripheral vision of one of the closest, pulling at Josh's gaze like a magnet attracting iron filings. Who had that been? It hadn't been very far away? Had that been a sanctioned attack or was it a lone civilian lashing out? Mutant Town had to be the most dangerous place for that sort of thing to happen. The ship rolled with the blast that cut through it as if it were made of construction paper. It immediately began careening to the right in the direction the blast had come from, sinking toward Mutant Town. If it kept that trajectory, it looked like it would crash into buildings only a handful of blocks away... if nothing changed. A handful of blocks was a small cushion between himself and a thing of that size. Josh's eyes grew wide at the realization. He wasn't the only one. Others behind him were already cry out and make a break for the door. “Get out! Get out!” Josh cried as he turned away from the distant crashing ship. He began shoving people toward the two doors, “Any teleporters here!?” Either there were none or his voice fell powerless against all the panic. He looked over his shoulder to see the top of a building explode as part of the ship plowed into it, causing it to buck in the opposite direction. Mortar, brick, and wood went flying in all directions... and was that a body he'd spotted in that dust cloud? He needed to get to the ground fast. He was no good to anyone up here. With a groan, he did the only thing he could, as the stairs into the building were bottlenecking. He turned and jumped off the edge of the four story building, his stomach seeming to jump into his throat as the sudden surrender to gravity pulled him to the ground below. This was gonna hurt. Suddenly, his comm flared to life as he cleared the first floor, "Any other outbound X-Teams, if you copy, head back towards the park near the XFI BRownstone. We have a situation and we need to lock it down before it gets worse." Josh fought the sound of wind rushing past as he pulled the comm from his pocket, not even registering how he could be collected enough to do even that much, “Shan... I'm over by the X-Corps building! I'll be there–” And for a brief moment, everything went black. |

She'd been out with another outbound team. The ship roaring overhead had been under her radar, really, but when the cracking sound off in the distance was followed by lurching explosions and the groans of twisted metal, she booked it from her team. "Be back in a sec!" The city blurred by as she tracked the pluming, billowing smoke towards Red Hook proper. Cars were left streaked black as blue lightning singed, the electrokinetic leaping from hood to hood at breakneck speed. “Shan... I'm over by the X-Corps building! I'll be there–” Foley. X-Corp. She veered down another street, spun around a corner, and up in the distance she saw him falling. Had he been knocked off? Surge juked to the side, leaped across and over the curb, and jetted up the side of the shaking structure, the world around her moving slower, shifting to blue as her eyes pulsed with raw electrified plasma. She could catch him she could. He was a healer, but a fall like that, could he? Foot falls cracked windows and scuffed brick, and, judging the leap, she kicked off, grabbing for Foley as he plummeted towards the ground, but her aim was off, her reflexes not quite to snuff with her speed, and she sailed wide, hand outstretched but nowhere near close enough. "Jooosh!" She shouted, but her friends fate was forgotten as looked back to where she was heading, and smashed her way in through a window, rolling end over end through a small office, out the door, and skidding to a stop in the room beyond as she slammed through a row of cubicles, abandoned by those who'd sought to get an eyeful of the interplanetary terrors looming above their heads. She lay there for a moment, intimately and somewhat despairingly aware of every bone in her body. "Auuuuugh." came a groan as she lifted a cubicle wall from the top of herself, sitting up slowly and painfully. "Ow..." She looked the empty room. The building was shaking, she smelled smoke. Pulling herself to her feet she rubbed her head as she moved towards the window she'd blasted in through. A metal-clad finger went to her ear piece. "Uhh... this is Surge..." She looked down at the street below and grimaced. "I'm with Elixir... sorta.." She pulled herself out onto the fire-escape, moving down towards the street. "Foley?" She said, loud. "You better be able to get up from that or I'm going to kill you." |

There must have been some cosmic rule written somewhere that stated if mutants exist so must chaos. The world barely ever got a chance to just rest. And in those very, very few and far between periods of quiet, it only meant that the next threat was plotting and waiting for the most opportune time to strike. At least that was how it seemed to Dee. Ever since she manifested, nothing had been the same. Every time she turned around there was something else threatening the goodwill of humanity. This time it was bunch of aliens that firmly believed themselves to be the rightful rulers of the planet. At least in her eyes no one was the rightful ruler. The planet was meant to be shared by all species whether they were advanced beyond one or another. Honestly Dee did not have the energy to deal with what was going on above their heads. Kind of funny considering she was made of nothing but energy. The woman felt like porting to another planet and living there until everything blew over. Neptune was probably nice this time of year. Unfortunately or maybe fortunately Dee was not a self-centered person. She cared about the lives of others, even ones she did not know. If anyone knew how precious an innocent life was, she did. So when an irate citizen of Mutant Town took matters into his own hands by taking down one of the smaller ships, Dee was out of her room and at the roof of X-Corps headquarters. She covered up a gasp as the ship descended to the streets taking out sections of buildings on the way. People on the neighboring roof were just as surprised and terrified. The excitement and fear must have gotten to one them way too much because what happened next she did not expect. The golden skinned boy jumped right off the edge of the building. “Merde!” Dee rushed to the edge and followed suit. The boy did not look like a mutant with flight capabilities judging by the way he was plummeting toward the pavement. She on the other hand was in a sense. Dee was not the only one concerned about the young man. A blue blur that turned out to be a woman moved up the side of the building and leaped toward him. Sadly… she was off base. Golden boy smacked the pavement. Dee hovered in place stuck in a state of shock. The kid had just committed suicide right in front of her. She had been too slow to catch him. A wave of guilt washed over. |

JP with Paige After the orders came in to spread out and look around, Jono and Paige had headed down a few floors to see what help they could provide. Thankfully, I\it seemed like most of the people remaining in the building had left already. The floor appeared abandoned and devoid of life. Chamber's brown eyes swept the open offices as they rushed past, looking for anyone that might be here any sign of things out of place. In addition, he was scanning the floors for any mental signs of people. So far there was nothing, no inkling of a thought or mental pulse that would lead them to anyone. The furnace mutant looked at Paige, the blonde at his side. Paige kept stealing glances at her old friend as they worked. She hadn't seen him, no one had seen him since that sick warlord Apocalypse had remade Chamber into the Horseman Famine. He seemed normal, as Jono as a Jono could be. However she worried about what that process had done to his mind... ::So far there is no one on this floor, we should move down to the next floor:: he thought towards her. She flushed for a moment, as his thought interrupted her own stream of consciousness. She was grateful that he was able to communicate in this regard as other options were closed to him. Still she couldn't help wondering if he had sensed her thoughts right then. She needed to get her head in this game and find some way to get through this crazy science fiction nightmare that was gripping the world. Right now that meant doing what they could to protect the innocents of Mutant Town. It was always a shame to see people that had lost their lives. It didn’t take much to remind him of all the lives that he had extinguished as his time as Famine. So many lives were ended at his hand, by his power, by his hand. While many would say that it wasn’t his fault, he would say that it was. His family history, his past all lead him down the path to be converted by Apocalypse. It weighed heavily on his conscience and his soul. He knew that it was his fault and there was no one else to blame. Shaking his head to get rid of the memory, Jono moved towards the stairs to the next level before seeing something in a gold streak flash past the window. “Well that's some good news for once. I was beginning to think we had run out by now. How many floors can you check at once Jono? This is going to get worse in a hurry and I'd like to try to make this as eff...” Quickly he moved to the window, with Paige on his heels, to see Josh Foley or Elixir face plant into the ground. ::Did Josh just fall of the roof or did he jump?:: he asked Paige looking at her quickly. ::Oh ma God! That was Josh, Ah've been working with him recently. We hafta get down there and help him.:: Paige was so rattled she didn't even use words or cover her accent. In a flash her old skin was laying on the floor and her stainless steel form was preparing to hurtle out the closest window. Chamber couldn’t believe that he would kill himself and the fact that the man could heal, didn’t think he would. Glancing at Paige he directed his words at her again:: perhaps we should get down there and see if he is OK and if anyone else is there also:: She paused for a moment to look at Jono and give him a worried nod. “Alright, if I know anything there will be other X-Men either on their way or already about. Ah'm taking the express down, you follow. See if you can find any of them on the way.” Her indications made known, the metal omnimorph smashed into and through a window. As she fell she aimed for a spot a few feet from the fallen golden young man's form. |

“...able to get up from that or I'm going to kill you." “Ow...” Slowly lifting his head, Josh blinked, one eye staying shut as something warm and wet tried to invade it. He started to straighten one arm only to find it bent at a strange angle behind his back... that's when he felt the popping and heard the faint crackle of bones mending. That would need a few minutes; the other arm looked in tact though. Foley lifted his arm off the pavement, barely aware of the sting as golden skin and blood peeled away and stuck to the pavement – his forearm was a mess. Wiping blood from his right eye, Josh looked around to see a few people having gathered around him... including some red chick and... “Nori?” Josh groaned as he pulled the broken arm around and tested it on the concrete, “What? You're here? I heard Shan. Are you here with her? How many... ow!” Josh winced as he felt something in the right side of his chest that seemed to pinch... almost cut; healing often hurt as much as it made you feel better. “How many–” CLANG! Instinctively, Foley rolled away from the direction of a crash close by him, barely aware of the fact that his left arm no longer hurt. Scrambling to his feet, Foley limped and winced as he tried to straighten, his near black eyes resting on Paige who had just landed beside him. “Geez! Paige! What the hell!?” Though Foley's broken bones were on the mend, he was still a mass of swollen and broken skin and blood. “Can I just...” Finish a damn sentence!? It looked like the X-Men were coming out of the woodworks... had that been Havok's voice he'd heard, or had he been dreaming it? “How many of us are...” he looked around at the others in the area noticing the horrified looks some of the people were giving him. Josh shook his head and immediately regretted the headache it brought on, “Nevermind... I'll be fine. Guys, I'm setting up shop in X-Corps.” He backed up several steps, still limping on his bad leg as he favored his left arm, “Anyone who has any kind of nursing training or anything... I could use your help in the X-Corps building.” Josh pointed at the red skinned chick, not even paying attention to the expression on her face, “Do me a favor and go tell X-Corps that we're going to need to make room for a relief shelter, would you?” He turned and looked at the few others who had gathered aside from his fellow X-Men; most were still staring in the direction of the crash that had just happened, while others tore their gaze away to stare at the other armada ships still afloat. “We need any able bodied men and women to help spread the word... any who are out and trapped from their homes, you guys need to head this way. We need help getting everyone trapped out and back over here too. I'm gonna help for a few minutes and then get back here and stop healing. He took his comm off and tossed it to one of the girls who had stepped forward saying that she was in nursing school. “Gimme a call when you get some people in that need some serious help.” He looked toward Nori, “Mind if I get a ride?” |

The landing was jarring and the sound of steel scraping concrete was never going to be anyone's favorite, but the tactic worked well enough. Husk did a quick visual sweep of the area right after impact to make sure nothing else threatened the biokenetic. Everything appeared to be in the clear, though how Josh had ended up with so many female protectors was beyond her. The golden boy regained his feet and waved them all off like this was a routine event for him. For all Paige knew skydiving into concrete with no chute was his weekly gig. “So next time an X-Man takes a header off a building I should just go about my business? I'm not seeing that working. I'm grateful that you'll be ok though.” Paige listened closely to Josh's words, he seemed to know what he was doing and had a plan in mind. Which was a lot better then her response so far. Right now she was just reacting to anything that came her way instead of actually achieving anything. She shook her head to clear it and nodded. “Sounds good Foley, Jono will be down here in a few minutes. I'll get started on evacuation and have him join me. The young Kentuckian was always better when she had a plan. It allowed her to focus on getting a job done instead of worrying about the outcome. This situation was about as terrible as a situation could get. Alien invasion? Check. People panicking? Check. Inevitable chaos, arson, and trampling? Check. However Paige and her teammates were X-Men, saving people was in their DNA. Paige located the nearest burning building and ran towards it. As she moved her hand reached up and starting peeling her steel face off to reveal Calcium silicate beneath. |

“What the hell?!” All the guilt and sadness was washed away and replaced with confusion and a small portion of anger. The kid that tossed himself off the building had survived the splat to concrete and was now putting his body back in order. Dee floated to the street looking distraught. “You crazy, boy.” She should have known that the kid had some kind of healing ability since they were in the middle of Mutant Town, but still. That rarely crossed one’s mind while they watched someone jump from a building. Was it that crucial getting down to ground level? Apparently it was since golden boy was not the only one to take the express route. She stepped back as a metal woman landed leaving a small impression. It looked like the two knew each other. “The hell’s wrong with you people?!” Dee shook her head then listened as he began speaking informing them that X-Corps was now going to be the medical center while all the crazy was going on. Several others were on the scene taking care of the crash and the damage the ship had done to several buildings. Her attention was drawn back as golden boy pointed right at her and asked a favor. “Uh right, I’m on it.” Dee vanished from the scene and appeared in the lobby of X-Corps. “Listen up everybody. I need every nonessential office vacated to make room for injured civilians. Clear this lobby out; we need as much space as possible. Vite, vite!” The employees rushed into action doing just as she said. As they took care of things on the inside, Dee teleported back outside next to Foley and company. “Not only can I teleport, but I’m a healer too. We can get this done twice as fast.” She nodded and teleported off again, this time to clear out one of the buildings closest to the crash site. There were a couple of people trapped inside scared and confused. The small building was definitely unstable and ready to give out at any moment. Dee fanned smoke from her vision and saw that there was a total of seven people inside the store. “Everyone on me. I’m gonna get us the hell out of here.” The people converged on her location and huddled together. Once they were in place, Dee unleashed a wave of energy that dematerialized them all before collapsing inward. A second later, the energy exploded outwards in a non-aggressive manner in the middle of X-Corps. Everyone was back in one piece, some just a tad bit dizzy from the process. “Everyone alright?” Dee asked. She got several yeas and groans in response. “Good, I’m gone head ba—” “Wait,” said an older fellow. “My hip. I think it broke when I hit the floor during the crash.” Dee had noticed that the old man was limping in the store. “Hold on.” She thought that it was just because he was old and that was what old people did. The young woman went over to him and placed her hands over the injury. “This may hurt a little.” Faint, purple energy engulfed his side and in a few seconds the bone was sealed up and back in place. “Okay, how does that feel?” The old man turned and twisted, lifted his leg, and applied pressure. “Feels nice, better than before actually. Think you can do that to the rest of this old body hehehe.” It always felt good to see people no longer in pain. Dee smiled before heading back out. |

She moved quickly down the wrought iron step-stairs of the fire escape, brushing glass from her hair with a gloved hand and feeling more than a little thankful for the lenses shielding her eyes. Skipping the ladder she vaulted over the railing, landing in a tucked roll and scrambling then into a jog until she skidded to a halt at Josh's side as Venus vanished in an energetic haze. The glow of her eyes canted from Foley to the crater where Paige had landed and she let out a half-laugh, gallows humor taking the place of the metric ton of worry running around her lightning laced mind. "You're setting a trend with this extreme base-jumping stuff already." She said. The civilians? Sure they had an excuse, but who among the X-Camp didn't know what Foley could do? He was like Logan, except for less hair, less grump, and markedly more easy on the eyes. Oh and no claws too. Foley took the reigns and she nodded. Her speed made her the perfect courier in this situation. And with New York ablaze with not only its own power grid but the technologically advanced behemoths in the sky, she was feeling remarkably more charged than normal. She nodded to Paige and hoisted Josh into a piggy back. "Hold on, this isn't exactly the smoothest ride in town." She pulled the goggles back down over her eyes, let Foley get his grip, and.. Shrrak! They blasted off at a lightning speed. She kept low, avoiding jukes so as not to toss Elixir around like a rag doll. Before long they were there, and she skidded to a halt outside, setting him down as the two of them went in. |

Jono looked out the window as Paige leapt through the glass in steel form and fell the remaining 3 floors to the pavement. Shaking his head in amazement he tried to think of the fastest way down to join the rest of them. The window was in fact the fastest way and it would provide an almost seamless route to the ground floor. The stairs would work to though he'd have to hurry to join the rest of them. Pacing back and forth in thought Jono ran a hand through his brown locks pondering what he should do. Stopping near the staircase he looked at it before shrugging his shoulders before turning and running out the open window. If he could have smiled he would have, the free fall occurring almost instantaneous. Though it wasn't all fun and games as the ground quickly rose to meet him. Reaching up he pulled down the bandages over his face letting free a beam of fiery energy. Aiming it at the concrete below he used it similarly like a rocket would use a booster, slowing his speed and descent. Unfortunately the concrete in which he was aiming it at was slowly bubbling and frothing from the heat. Coming to a slow fall, he quickly slid the bandages back into place and using some momentum shifted to the side of the puddle he had made. Landing on the soles of his feet with a slight jarring motion, Chamber stood and adjusted his trench coat looking at those still around. ::What?:: he asked them with a hint of humour before watching Josh and Nori speed off in a flash of blue lightning. Glancing at Paige he looked around ::So what's the plan?:: |
