May 28th Just After the Order is Given The sewers were dark. She liked it. Orange eyes bobbed through the black, the speed with which she moved all but forcing her to pad along on all fours. She knew these tunnels like the back of her hand. A spiny, bony tail trailed behind her sprouting from the small of her back, chutes of ossified chitin stemming from her back, a crest of bony horns encasing her head like a helmet. The suit she war, branded with its X, was all but invisible beneath the armor she war, grown from beneath her own skin, cutting through the anomalous material used in its creation. It would seal again once she shed. The journey from the deployment point in Alex's hovel had been long and quiet, her particular partner not one she was too pleased with. It seemed fate had conspired to pit her and Rahne together, and part of her knew that Cyclops wouldn't have ordered it if he didn't know they'd put priorities first ahead of petty personal problems. But at the same time, just, damnit. They arrived at their destination. If Jeffries had left anything behind, it was a potential goldmine for both sides. If not, it was still something worth guarding, if the Complacent and the Skrull didn't already have it locked down. If they did? Well, both of the women lurking in that tunnel had claws to spare. She cut short her run, sniffing the air. With the Skrull aware of this sudden rebellion, they'd have mobilized already. There scent hung heavy in her nose and she looked to Wolfsbane, pushing clawed finger to her lips and pointing upwards. The alleyway was quiet, the sounds of battle only beginning to rumble in from elsewhere in the city. She slunk out, looking down after to make sure Rahne was on her six. Giving another sniff to the air she looked around before quickly ducking behind a dumpster. They were less than a block from the X-Factor Brownstone, and the calls and belts of Human and Skrull alike could be heard. Prowling down the alley, she moved slowly, crawling like some jungle predator. New York still smelled the same. Still felt the same. The cool dry of the place brushed against the little skin left exposed and she soaked it in. There would be blood today. |

Well, if there was any one way to get over this instinctual fear that Rahne Sinclair felt whenever she was around Marrow, it was this. So far, though, it was still lingering. Still... a nagging buzzing thought in the back of her head. The woman she snuck in through the tunnels alongside, heading towards the XFI Headquarters, was still someone to be wary about, especially with the insectile carapace that covered her skin. Wolfsbane padded along in her full-wolf form, partially because it was most efficient to travel in this form, partially because her tracking senses were at their strongest in this form, and she'd be keenly aware of any obstructions or pursuers, but... partially... partially because she was not ready to talk. Not just yet. It went so poorly last time, after all. When they got to their destination, Rahne reclaimed her half-wolf form, allowing her to climb up the ladder and out of the manhole. And boy, was she ever grateful. It was not pleasant down there in the sewer tunnels. Heck, it was downright revolting. But she could stomach it. She had to. Hell, Wolfsbane thought to herself as they emerged and she took stock of the area ahead of them. Plenty of people about, and they were in the distinct minority, being two of the less than fifty people who got to keep their own free will. With millions under the Skrulls' thrall. She could only hope that this "Complacency" thing left those under its effect less... effective, more sluggish and clumsy in combat. She and Marrow would need that edge. They slipped silently down an alleyway, Wolfsbane's lupine ears keenly listening to their surroundings. Before reaching a corner in the alley, the young Scotswoman reached out and gently touched Marrow on the arm as she came to a stop. A group of men, maybe five or six of them, walked past the alleyway - the heaviness of their tread suggested combat boots. While it was likely that the men would be no match for the two of them, getting into a fight right now would do them no good, likely draw attention to them before they wanted any. |

Feral Abilities/Healing Factor

Peace had finally come to the world, no more fighting, no more crime, no more sense of loss. There was just the love for Queen Veranke and the Skrulls. For a childhood of abuse, an adolescence of loneliness, and the few years of adulthood being filled with love and loss at a constant tug of war. It was finally time for peace in his life and no room left for the wild nature that his mutation bestowed upon him. Until the resistance decided to take it all away. That's what he was told, to watch out for those who would take the peace away. Who threatened the stability that finally came to the Earth. To become an animal one last time and make sure no one came to the brownstone to mess with what was there. Madison's work or something, it was to be taken away and then Kyle could go off duty and enjoy the Skrull supremacy over Earth. Things would be alright after that. Now though, there were infiltrators, people who weren't supposed to be in Mutant Town, and getting closer to the brownstone. Wild Child moved across the roofs silently before he jumped down the fire escapes before he cut them off as he stood out in the open street looking directly at them. The town looked deserted, the civilians had been told to stay in their homes until the Skrull empire was secure. There were patrols of course, but Kyle didn't care about that. Just the two women who stunk of sewer. ::♪Reeeeed♫:: Kyle's mental connection to her wolfen half spoke telepathically in a sing song voice. "You two shouldn't be here." He shook his head, wagging his finger. "Should have just stayed away if you didn't like this peace. But can't have you interfering with the Queen's orders. I really expected better of you Red. Would have thought world peace was something you wanted." He considered her a friend once upon a time, but there was no room for her or the pink chick if they wanted to stop the Skrulls. He'd stop them if his life depended upon it. "I'm going to give you one chance, Red. You and your pink friend there put your hands in the air and then place them against the wall to be null cuffed and allow yourselves be turned over to the Skrull empire." Kyle ordered, reaching behind his back to his belt for one of the three null cuffs he had brought with him. "I've got orders to kill anyone who doesn't obey...but you know how I am with orders...please, just put your hands up Rahne." Kyle pleaded softly. Deep down he didn't want to hurt her, he couldn't let that go no matter how complacent he was. However very little ever stopped him from hurting friends before. "Also before you think about possibly ganging up on me, you should know I'm not alone." He explained softly as he was about to take a step forward before his ears perked up to the sound of something moving... above them. "Actually you might want to take a step back." |

Landing before them like some sort of euro-mutt ninja, the X-F-I Nerd pontificated at them and issued an ultimatum. She disliked Ultimatums. "You talk too much." A thin sliver of bone shot into his throat. No damage, no real intent other than cutting his vocal chords and shutting him up, her wrist shooting it out with an alacrity that was neither fully human nor mutant, a sort of warborn agility and springiness that came from a brand new body and a brand new set of perceptions. Marrow's blood was on fire. Her mind. The city reeked of Skrulls. It set her instincts ablaze with raving odium and the desire for blood. There was a no-kill order on complacents, and, well, she'd try. But she'd only try. "Big-time company from up top." She barked at Rahne flippantly as she sped forward, running past Wild Child, juking into the wall, hitting it on the balls of her feet and the pads of her hand before pushing off and colliding with one of the passing guards. With a sneer that quickly turned to a scowl she elbows one in the face, kicking into the gut of another and snapping the head of a third clean around. The woman dropped, her helmet clattering to the ground as her skin shriveled and turned green. "If they're so benevolent, why are they still hiding?" Moving away and towards Wild Child she shook her head, ripping two osteous cleavers from her back with a grin. "What, no answer? Oh wait. Now I'm talkin' too much." He wanted to bend his knees to a Queen? Her tail flicked as she went loose and ready for a fight, springing towards the feral mutant with her blades arched back and ready to drop on him with ruthless aggression. If he wanted a Queen, he'd gotten one. |

After doing the same thing so many times, one got used to it. Cain Marko was used to falling from incredible heights and being used as a human ordinance. Rushing wind drowned out the sounds of battle save for the occasional screech of blaster fire or the boom of an explosion happened a bit too close. He remained focused on his destination though, eyes locked on the spot he'd been shown on a viewscreen before being dropped out of the Hellicarrier. His mission was a simple one; take down anyone around Box's old office. He had information there that the Skrulls didn't want unearthed, and while he wondered why, it wasn't important enough to question. A similar thought he had was why they'd confiscated his helmet, but he was already on his way down and nothing could be done about it now...why did it matter anyway? The ground rushed up to meet him, and the buildings began having more and more detail; a few more seconds. Right before he hit, he saw Kyle fighting two people he knew, and two people who would soon be smears across the ground if they didn't stop fighting against the glory of the Skrulls. He bent his knees and landed hard in the space between Marrow and Kyle, kicking up dust, dirt, and chunks of concrete from the ruined ground beneath his feet. He stood to his full height and brushed bits of debris from his shoulder while nodding to his partner in this battle; then he turned back to Marrow and the wolf. "Been a long time, Marrow...you two Wolfsbane. I'd try to convince you that this fight is pointless, and that the Skrull's really are what's best for us, but you're both stubborn and I figure you won't listen ta' reason. If you're fighting this peace, then you don't deserve it." Reaching down and gripping a chunk of concrete and rebar, he tossed it up and down in his hand a few times, seeming to ponder it's importance before glancing at Marrow. "You picked the wrong side, bones." He grunted a battle cry before slinging it at Marrow, then turning to Kyle. "You get Rahne, I'll handle Marrow!" |

Rahne was about to move ahead, confident that she and Marrow hadn't been spotted by that little group of young men that had passes by when a teasing, mocking voice rang out in her head. Kyle Gibney. It was a strange thing to get messages directly from sonebody's mind. You could usually hear feedback when the brain was compromised, and Rahne heard it alright. Almost a melody, or perhaps a sound not too unlike a chorus of crickets - it affected Gibney's willpower. "Kyle," she said, tensing herself for impact she was sure was inevitable at this point. "Ye know we're only doin' what's necessary to save the world. Ye know us better than to believe we're in the wrong." And then things escalated. Marrow shot a bone projectile at Kyle, and one of the last people she expected to show up did so. The Juggernaut - former Brotherhood terrorist, apparently current SHIELD agent. "Bloody hell," she murmured before leaping to her left around the Juggernaut, kicking off of the side of a building and rebounding towards Gibney, trying to capitalize on Marrow's attack and keep him off his guard. "Kyle, I'm honestly hurt ye dinnae trust me," she grunted as she sought to tackle him to the pavement. "But we cannae let ye stop us. Ye're nae well, and ye're not of sound mind. Neither of ye." |

Feral Abilities/Healing Factor
|
Before he knew it, there was something in his throat that made it impossible for any noise to come out other than huffs of air. His healing factor was already working on pushing it out, but as it was getting pushed out it was just further cutting into muscles of his throat making speech nearly impossible outside of a growl here or there. Wild Child let out a silent snarl as Marrow moved quickly to deal with the Skrull agents, continuing to run her mouth as he still could not. Rahne also addressed him, he just looked at her. An almost confused expression came across his face as he just looked at her. How could anyone think the Skrulls were wrong? They were bringing peace and happiness to the world. Unity at last. How could that be bad? Marrow then went to attack him but it was too late for her as Kyle's back up arrived. The Juggernaut himself. Nice. Still unable to speak himself because of that wretched little bone stuck painfully in his throat. When Juggernaut spoke sense, Kyle nodded, pointing to the big man with his thumb while looking at the girls, trying to silently say that they should listen to the guy with the cinder block like fists. But of course they wouldn't listen and Kyle sighed as he got stuck with Rahne. He didn't want to fight her. He wanted to pick a bone with the pink one. Heh, 'pink a bone.' God it sucked when he couldn't snark to anyone but himself. While making the inward humor he was tackled down to the ground by the werewolf. Kyle growled and looked up at her. She didn't make any strikes yet. Kyle looked up at her. ::The world is already saved, Red. There's peace for everyone now. No more war, no famine, no more hatred for mutants. For once I could walk down the streets without hiding who I am. You could too, you and Jack, maybe a few pups down the way.:: He pleaded softly through that unique connection he had with the wolf in Rahne. ::You're wrong Rahne...and I pity you.:: The bone broke through his skin again, this time going out of it and falling away from his throat as the wound closed. As it happened his claws sunk deep into Wolfsbane's side, aiming for her kidneys. His wild amber eyes almost looked sad as he looked up at her, speaking in a rough hoarse voice. "She loves you." |

JP Cain and Marrow Marrow sailed through the air, ready to cut the feral before her to pieces in short order. But then a new wrinkle was introduced and she rebounded off of the chest of Cain Marko, scrambling to her feet and letting claws burst through the skin of her fingertips. Marrow didn't waste words. These brainwashed tools weren't going to listen, and now that she'd had her fun with the mouthy creeper with the chin, she'd quickly sent herself into game time with the blood of the dead skrull hitting her nose and setting a thousand instinctual alarms off which hadn't been there a month ago. Her eyes burned beneath the crested horns sprouting from her brow, and when that flail of stone and iron came careening towards her, she ducked to the side, letting it crash into the troupe behind her, sending them scattered and unconcious while she vaulted up and onto them man, raking clawed fingers across his eye, going for the one weakspot she remembered, but staying squirrely and in motion so as to avoid the things that had happened nearly two years prior. The trailing spine of spiked bone found its way to her other hand and she tore it free with a crunching pop, looping it around the back of his neck and leaping down, trying to pull him to the asphalt by the neck as she dropped, then pulling herself up on the rebound to catapult towards Gibney, ready to tears his insides out through his back. Apparently Marrow remembered him, because after her attack on Kyle was stopped cold by him, she went into battle mode; she didn’t even bother with the bantering trash talk he knew she had the potential of dishing out. She dodged his initial attack with all the same squirrely speed he remembered from that fight, maybe even more. Because before the dust even settled, she was in the air and landing on him; her clawed fingers scratched across his face and the tip of one caught his eye and tore into it; whatever was left got dragged out of the socket with the optic nerve still connected as she continued on her way. He grunted in momentary pain and surprise, taking a step back and helping her continue on the offensive. He still had one good eye though, and when he felt the tension on whatever the hell she’d wrapped around his neck, he tried to stop it. She got past him though, and into the air on her way towards Kyle; however, the Juggernaut was faster than he looked, and he spun on his heels while shooting a hand out to latch around her ankle. “You forgot about lil’ ole me already, Marrow?!” He felt her leg compress under his grip, then with a smile that flashed back to the old Cain Marko, he slammed her down to the concrete face first. Then he hoisted her back into the air and hurled her clear across the street.(tag) Seeing Kyle's hand in Rahne's side provoked an unexpected empathic shout from her, and steeled her resolve to gut the man assaulting her even more, but it was not to be, and before she knew it Marrow was flying through the air. Then down through it. Into concrete. That had been enough to knock her out. Then she was sailing again. Through the street. Then through brick. Insulation. Drywall. Nothing stirred in the building she was in, nothing but dust and dripping water from now broken pipes. She coughed something up, some filthy mixture of dirt and blood and teeth, rolling onto her side as new ones already popped through her gums, sharp and white as pearl. Her face was broken and bloody, already fixing itself as she hauled herself to her feet, stumbling as the world faded back in through a red hazy blur. Snapping a bit of bone horn off from where it dangled broken at the tip, a low grumble came forward as she stumbled through the whole in the brick wall, her small stature planting itself in front of the approaching Juggernaut. She tore a knife from her forearm, spitting more of the red-black blood from her mouth as her warped face seemed to pop bits back into place. "Come on, you fuckin' meathead." |

JP with Wild Child ::I can hear ye in there, Kyle. An' I can hear that static interferin' with yuir thoughts. Ye're compromised, Kyle, ye're...:: Rahne's response was cut short as searing pain ripped into her side. His fingertips. His damn... thoughts went red and angry and violent. She was willing to talk before, willing to try and talk him out of this. But now she was a wounded animal. She snarled in rage and pain before bringing her jaws down to Kyle's neck, aiming to bite out a significant chunk of his throat. Did he miss? Damaging the kidneys, he heard that it was fatal to people. Would have been a nice quick kill. A courtesy he would have granted her because of their history. But his claws missed? And now this was going to get a lot worse than he wanted. Kyle did not realize how bad that was until the wolf fangs were around his neck beginning to crunch down upon his windpipe and vocal chords. His eyes popped open wide, survival instincts kicking in. One hand pulled free from trying to claw at her internal organs (and failing) and began aiming open palmed strikes at her face to beat her off of his throat before he suffocated. Yes he could heal but he was still at risk of passing out and becoming vulnerable. His vision was starting to become blurred, as did his thoughts. He tried to claw her face in a final attempt, he needed to get her off of him. Wolfsbane's snarl was angry and vicious, animalistic as she yanked her head back, spitting a wad of flesh out onto the pavement at Kyle's left. There were few who'd seen her pushed to this extreme. Few who'd seen human reason shoved aside for animalistic savagery like this. His hand swatted her in the face, faintly scratching at her right cheek which jostled her back, causing her to stumble and back off of him. She shook her head rapidly, a spray of Kyle's blood spattering forth from her teeth as she regained her bearings, trying to wipe some blood from her right eye. He turned over onto his side, limply pushing himself off the ground, as blood splattered from his throat where she ripped flesh from. With his free hand he attempted at checking if everything valuable was still intact, or mostly. The issue there was one that plagued Kyle, he was not entirely educated enough to know human or mutant anatomy well enough to tell. He just knew if you kept tearing something out the person would die. As his body was still in the process of healing, Wild Child stood upwards, turning to the werewolf, nothing on his mind other than animal carnage. Even the Queen became second to the desire for blood. Teeth fully extended and claws already bloodied, Wild Child focused on Wolfsbane letting out a warning growl, preparing to bring this fight to a new level of animal tenacity. Wolfsbane let out a roar, loud and angry, as he got back to his feet. She wanted him to go down and stay down. He was... he... she couldn't really think too hard on the reason why, other than the fact that he had stabbed her. He had made her hurt. It was the sound of her teammate being thrown through a wall that snapped her out of it, and caught her attention for just a moment. Gave her renewed focus. They were here to recapture the XFI building, they were here to take that piece of real estate back. And if the Skrulls had it this well-guarded, there must have been something to it. She stared him down, jaw set, stance determined. She knew she had to focus. She could take him with animal strength, but it had to be in tandem with human skill and intellect. Instinct alone would not cut it. "So that's it, aye? Try to kill me just on yuir precious queen's say-so? Weak. Got no free will o' yuir own. Ye're a puppet." His throat continued to stich itself up right before her eyes, restoring damaged tissue and making it start to appear that there had been no injury at all from her bite. The feral’s eyes watched her posture, anticipating an attack that never came. He didn’t back down however, keeping his self-taught stance. She tried talking to him. Egging him on to attack. And it worked. Kyle flew into a rage, launching himself at the werewolf with his claws moving into a flurry of strikes, just working to cut her as many times as he possible could until she went down. ::You know nothing!:: His mind roared. ::Don’t you dare judge me!:: "I know plenty, ye great bampot!" Rahne roared back, swinging her left arm in an arc to swat away his first attack before driving a fist hard and true for his solar plexus, aiming to knock the wind right out of him. "I know all about bein' held captive t' someone else's will, an' ye've got it bad. Now I trusted ye well enough to let ye talk directly into muh head. Why cannae ye trust me enough t' nae try n' murder me?" Kyle was knocked back, just barely keeping himself from falling to the ground as he tried to get his breathing back in order as a result of her strike. The first chance he had a breath, it came out in a violent snarl. Eyes transfixed on her. “I chose this.” He snapped before leaping from his feet after dropping his shoulder down to tackle her midsection. Through their mental connection images of Rogue, James Maddrox, Guido Carosella, and others that Kyle cared about from the various X-Teams. He truly believed they would be safe if he followed the Skrulls with absolute obedience. He would do anything to protect them, even if it meant killing another friend. "Ye chose nothing!" Rahne snapped back, jumping up over his tackle and aiming a two-legged kick to the small of his back as he went underneath her. "Ye've been bloody good an' robbed of choice! They took it away from ye!" Kyle's shoulder and side of his head rammed agained the brick wall that was behind her. He pushed off of it easily, only to be kicked back into it. He snarled once again. He was getting really tired of this. "I chose peace! If you're too fuckin' dumb to see that then just fucking stand still and die. I promise I'll make it quick!" Kyle roared once again charged her with claws ready to hack and slash her to bits if he could get any part of her. "Really? Then what was the moment ye chose it, hmm?" She landed on all fours, crouched low and ready to spring at any moment. He was getting angry. Good and angry, and it seemed to be making him a bit sloppier. Good. She could use every edge she could get, and she needed to get done with this fast so she could help Marrow out with the Juggernaut. He charged again, and she jumped - this time to her left, swinging a leg up to try and kick him in the chin. "Ye're actin' awfully violent f'r someone what's chosen peace." At the last moment Kyle showed a feat of athleticism that he rarely showed during an actual fight, bending backwards to just barely avoid her kick and using his continued momentum to turn around quickly to make the attempt at grabbing her by the throat from behind. "Just gotta get rid of all you bastards trying to rob everyone else of it, then I never have to hurt a friend again. Now please... just die." "Gllk," Wolfsbane hadn't expected that. She gripped at his wrist as well as she could, clutching on hard to try and wrench his grip free. Her arms were in an awkward position. Lifted over her head so she could grab at his arm, but it wasn't impossible to do so. She had one shot at getting him to let go, just one. So she took it, and gripped hard with her claws to try to pierce the flesh on his wrist. Kyle's hand gripped tightly around her throat, soon joined by his right hand. Wild Child just squeezed and squeezed, it hurt him to do this. Kyle knew who Rahne was, Kyle liked her, they were friends, pack mates even before today. The Queen offered love and peace eternal though. He could live a long life under the Skrull, no worries of persecution, no more loss... ::I...am so sorry, Rahne.:: Kyle offered mentally, saddened despite the violance streak he had previously. ::May he love ya-:: A pain ridden growl escaped his clenched teeth as she ripped into the muscle and flesh of his wrist, fingers loosening up despite his attmepts at closing down on her throat. His grip finally loosened, and Wolfsbane knew she had to take advantage, and fast. She quickly spun around, aiming to drive her right knee into his chin. "'Tis only one God, Kyle, an' He an' I are on good terms," she grunted as she followed up the knee strike with an attempt to clap both hands onto his ears. Kyle was taken off guard, and paid for it with a few quick strikes to the head. Thoughts fell silent, vision went black and the feral fell back unconcious. "Pfeh," Wolfsbane sputtered as he finally went down, and she wiped her mouth with the back of her right arm. "Jus'... stay down 'till we've got this all good an' figured out," she sighed, shaking her head. This was not something she was proud of, but it had to be done. He was just... incapable of reason at the moment. It wasn't too difficult to tell where Juggernaut had taken Marrow. The trail of destruction would have been obvious even without Rahne's ability to scent the two of them, to hear the destruction caused. Without another moment's delay, she was off, running as hard as she could towards the two of them, jumping over debris as it presented itself, swerving around fallen soldiers. Finally, there they were. "C'Mon, you fucking meathead." Marrow sounded bad. And a twinge of guilt hit Rahne. She'd treated her friend poorly this past week. She'd let her own pain and misery overtake her and forbade her to see the pain in her friend. The pain she should have helped to ease when instead she helped to exacerbate it. Well, that would have to end now. With a snarl, she leaped for the Juggernaut from behind, clawing as best as she could at the sides of his face. She knew she wasn't going to cause him much damage. Wasn't going to hurt him too badly. But she could distract him. She could do that much at least. |

Some would argue that a good teammate would take time out of his own fight to help his partner, and while that might have usually been true, it didn't exactly apply to this situation. While not near his strength or endurance level, Wild Child had one of the more powerful healing factors he'd seen aside from his own. Whatever Rahne threw at him, he could power through and heal from. This was his fight, Cain and the Skrulls had faith in him to handle this. So he'd been completely ignoring the snarling of the ferals and the sounds of claws and fangs tearing through flesh and crunching bone. A small part of him hoped Kyle didn't kill Rahne; just a small part though. She was a rebel against the wonderful Skrull rulers after all. Marrow as good as she was, had taken her eyes off the prize; the prize in this case being him, and that was why she'd gotten slammed face first into concrete with enough force to shatter it, then thrown through a building front. No mercy for the traitor; besides... if there was anyone who could take a thrashing from him, it was her. He would have bee foolish to think something as trivial as getting crushed through asphalt and then forced through a building would stop her, but he remained where he was for a few moments until he saw her body begin to stir. He chuckled and took one step that turned into another that turned into a jog into a full fledged run. He was so focused on her that he didn't even realize that Kyle had fallen to Wolfsbane and she was on an intercept course with him; even if he had known, it wouldn't have mattered. He was going to take Marrow down, whether temporary or permanent, she was losing this fight by his hand. His eye had rapidly grown back, and now he was seeing red, or rather pink. He growled a challenge, causing the ground to tremble in his wake as he descended upon her. As he got to the other side of the street, he stretched out one arm and backhanded a car out of his way; only a small way to go now. "C'Mon, you fucking meathead." "You asked for this when you turned traitor, Marrow!! Remember that!!!" A snarl from nowhere accompanied by a furry body clinging to his back and razor claws trying to find chinks in the invulnerable armor that was his skin took him by surprise, but when he set his mind to something, he saw it through. He roared again as an arm reached up to try and pry Wolfsbane off, maybe even powdering a bone or two in the process; he never slowed though, but continued charging Marrow with reckless abandon. |

One down. Two to go. She stood there as he charged from out of the alley, Rahne diving on his back, ripping as best she could at his face. That wouldn't work. The only time she'd cut Marko was using his own momentum against him. She didn't have that option, not out in the open like this. Two options weighed in her head, moving through her mind at the speed of thought. One. Leap into his charge. Thicken your bones. Hope for the best and plant a few knives into his ear drums. If they work like his eyes his equillibrium will go, tip him over. Off his feet. That sounded painful. Two. Turn tail. Run. He'll chase you, He won't stop, but it'll get him good and far away. Might be people in the rest of the building though. Dead innocents. This might not have bugged her at one point. but now it was suddenly abhorrent, a combination of what she'd learned at Xavier's and these new matronly feelings so ever-present in the back of her mind. There was no time to think, to weigh these two against eachother. Every second spent considering was a second lost to the Ju- She tried to leap, her bones going a bit thicker, a bit denser as she felt him hit her like a mack truck. Something broke. Shattered. A lot of things, but her mind reached out through her skeleton and pieced them back together as Marko smashed her between and through one wall, a second, a third, and then out the other side of the building, sending her skidding away from him and rolling across the pavement in a broken heap. "Gnaaaugh!" She said. It was supposed to have been a word, but the meaning and intent had been lost in the stunning concussions she'd earned in the process. Standing, she felt her leg give when she noticed the rebar through her thigh, through the side of her torso. Torn organs. Savage. Old Brood. It came in a furious inflow of chemical emotion and anxiety, that cornered animal reflex that one so rarely sees in human beings. The SHIELD agents with them piled through after Juggernaut, training their sites on the wolf and the purple woman trying to push herself to stand as she ripped blood-blackened iron from her body. Claws like those of her mentor sprouting from her knuckles as they moved to surround her. "C'mon you 'sapies pricks. Grow some balls. Heh. I can smell the liars standing all around me... even through the blood. Rahne..." She looked around for her friend. "Six five four... heh. Naw.. only two. HAHAHA." "Two of you things ain't not like the others." She said to the men surrounding her. |

Wolf Form
|
"C'mon, you, ye... ye great big oaf..." Wolfsbane growled as her claws scrabbled to find purchase anywhere in the face in front of her. Lip, nose, ear, something. Anything. She absolutely hated going up against these "invulnerable" types. Like fighting a walking chunk of concrete. Against the Juggernaut, her slight edge of maintaining her own free will meant what exactly? Nothing. It meant nothing if she had no means of actually causing him damage... But he certainly could cause damage to her, though, and as that tree trunk of an arm came swinging up to try and swat her, Wolfsbane dropped off and to the side so as to avoid adding to his momentum with a kickoff. One of the benefits of fighting someone three to four times your size is that you've got a significantly higher flexibility quotient. "Sar- Marrow!" She caught herself as she called out. Code names in battle. Even if there wasn't a secret identity at stake. Code names. But either way - her teammate, her friend - had just been smashed through a wall. Her own personal safety be damned. She was going in there and she was standing by her friend's side. She ran forward, bounding off of the wall to her right for an extra burst of momentum and speed as she landed roughly near where Marrow was trying her damnedest to recover from some pretty serious injuries. "I'm right here, an' I'm nae goin' anywhere," she answered, leg muscles tensed, fingers curled for optimal mauling. Great. SHIELD Agents. Heavily armed, trigger happy SHIE... waaaaaaiiiiit... A sly smirk spread across her lips as she thought back to a particular learning instance some time back. Primal. He had shown up at the school gates with a dead woman. Long story short, Phoenix had him dangling upside down, and asked Rahne what she would do in this situation. Now, they weren't dangling upside down by telekinetic force, not in this instance, but the same problem applied. Something they couldn't really handle on their own. She darted towards the SHIELD squadron, moving in erratic zig-zagged patterns to make herself less predictable. Their shots were wide and off the mark, because as soon as they had one shot on her, she was already someplace else. She had made it around and behind one of the agents, moving with such speed that the human reflexes had a tough time keeping up, and threw a vicious claw-swipe for the back of his head. Nothing that would kill the man, no, but it would hurt like hell, and most importantly, it would force him to lose concentration and... Yes! Drop his SHIELD-issue assault rifle as his hands instinctively went to the back of his head to cover the wound as he dropped to his knees. This was going to be the tricky part, but she'd trained in fighting multiple opponents at once. Especially those with guns. Keep it close and keep it varied. She dove into a roll over the fallen weapon and picked it up, leveling off a few shots at the Juggernaut's upper torso area as she landed. Her claws and strength might not mean much to that gigantic slab of steel-enforced mutton, but she hoped that this weapon would do a bit better. Holy hell, this thing has a bit of a kick to it... Rahne thought, staying low and spinning a sweeping kick at a SHIELD Agent's ankles. |

As big as he was, Cain Marko was fast, especially in a straight line. However, he knew that Marrow had far faster reaction speeds than him, so his plan or lack thereof was to run at her and at least try to get a glancing blow when she dodged. It wasn't a perfect plan, but none of his ever were and that one had served him well time and again over the years. He closed the distance, still trying to get Rahne off when suddenly her could no longer feel her weight; a quick glance showed him she'd jumped off, and now he could focus on Marrow and only Marrow. He'd deal with the wolf later; right now he had some sense to knock into the pink pin cushion. She stared him down as he ran, and got closer, closer, closer...and there it was! She jumped, or tried to at least. Maybe she wasn't all in this or something, but he'd fully expected her to dodge out of the way and try to lodge a bone in his skull or something. That didn't happen though, instead he slammed into her with enough force to literally turn a regular person into a cloud of red mist. He didn't stop though, but put his hands on her shoulders and continued on. One wall, then another, one more after that before he forced her out the other side of the building and pushed her through the air. He slid to a stop and stood there, his chest heaving up and down with crumbs of the remains of his warpath cascading off his body. "You can end this right now, Marrow! Give it up and let the Skrulls show you the truth! Everything'll make sense after that, I promise!" Impressively, it was only seconds before Marrow was on her feet; but she was more focused on not being beaten to a pulp than listening to him. They were soon joined by SHIELD agents, and Rahne shortly after to help Marrow. With him alone those two were outnumbered, and now that he had help, it was overkill. "You can't win, Marrow! Give up and make it easy on yourself!!" The agents leveled their guns, not firing yet but ready to just in case. "Good to see ya, boys. Thought I was gonna have all the fun ta' myself." A few laughs spread throughout the group, but stopped when Wolfsbane sprinted towards them, darting back and forth like her namesake when going in for the kill. "Light her up!!" No dice; she was faster than normal people could keep up with, and soon one of his men was bloodied and minus a weapon. Taking his eyes off the not quite 100% Marrow, he turned to face Rahne and got a chest full of blaster. Uneven footing and an unexpected attack knocked him back a few steps, the next round knocking him back some more. He set his feet after that, and the next one didn't so much as budge him. "Cute. Now let me try somethin." Looking to the remaining soldiers, he waved them away. "Outta the way!!!" They'd barely gotten clear by the time Cain raised his massive fist and slammed it into the concrete, causing a line to break in the concrete and the ground to shake as the concentrated and focused tremor snaked towards Rahne. The guards staggered as the acute upheaval dragged towards Rahne, the ground rumbling beneath their feet. And even as it did, an odd splash of magenta circled their heads as they moved in evasive patterns around the two mutants. A set of guards stopped then, moving almost robotically towards the two, casting their guns down and tossing their rebreather masks to the two of them before stepping back. Suddenly, the rest of them pulled the pins from the smoke grenades at their belts, the air suddenly filling with plumes of obscuring fog as the SHIELD agents turned their guns on the Juggernaut, a salvo of gunfire erupting towards the superpowered mutant. It wouldn't be long before she got hit by the shockwave from his attack, and then she'd be out of the fight. After that, he could break Marrow down at his own pace, and then everything would be well and he could move on to the next person who needed to be stopped. But several things happened that confused and enraged him. The soldiers there to help him, suddenly stopped and threw something to Wolfsbane and Marrow. Then they tossed smoke grenades and opened fired on him, him!? Now he was blind, choking, and being fired on by his own guys. What the hell was goin on, but it made him angry. Stumbling around in the smoke, he could feel the rounds upon rounds slamming into him, and he wanted it to stop. "That's enough!!!" Slamming his hands together, a blast wave spread out in all directions from him, clearing the smoke and sending the soldiers through the air. Playtime was over. |

The men and the smoke billowed away, but she was far outside the effective range of the burst of an attack. She only needed eyesight, after all. Stumbling forward in a limping gate, she called out. "Rahne! Grab the girl and get out of the way!" The spinning and pulsing arch of red-pink energy around her head shimmered like a crown in the light of midday, and it wrapped itself unseen around the minds of the SHIELD soldiers, who began to toss their weapons away and lay down on the ground prone. She had pants and a hospital gown on, arm bandaged and slung tight to her chest, her other hand pressing against her forehead. This many minds was too much. She tried to extend it from the batallion and to the Juggernaut himself, and as she did so, she couldn't help but groan as a wave of pain wracked her mind from the exertion of it. Stumbling here from an X-Corps medical center hopped up on pain meds hadn't helped things either. She locked everyone save the two X-Men under her control, but it was shakey. "Get away from him... I can't... hold him for very long... not with all the others." It was already slipping, but she'd brought backup. Or rather, backup had found her. And she was glad for it, else this gamble was going to turn out very short and tragic. Xi'an's mind wavered. The guards were simple, really, men and women doing a percieved duty. But in the colossal Juggernauts mind, wrapped tightly in a core behind all those supposed human emotions was a burning furnace of rage and power that she didn't like the feeling of at all. They would not remember this intrusion, but the Juggernaut needed to be brought down, and she had a friend who had a bow and a very good shot, not to mention just the right sort of ammo. "Run! Now! There's nothing in that building, Box moved everything and the Skrulls have been picking it over for days, this was a trap!" |

Fear Illusions and Psionic Arrows
|
The remnants of the powerful shockwave caused Danielle to stumble as she released her first arrow, causing her to curse for wasting precious time. Very cognizant of the mental strain her friend was under, she nocked another neural arrow and let it loose. The thrum of a taut bowstring snapped through the air like metronome as a volley of thin slivers of roiling energy sliced through the violent scene. Danielle's lips were pressed into a thin line in her concentration, and the rapidly weakening muscles in her arm strained against her weapon's resistance. Nevertheless, each arrow after the botched first attempt struck its mark with adroit precision while Xi'an held her targets in place. As wordlessly agreed, the SHIELD agents were inconsequential, so the archer focused her assault on the man at the center of all the destruction. Unfortunately for him, Dani wasn't sure what such a concentrated deluge would do to a person's psyche, much less a brainwashed madman, but she was more concerned about the safety of her friends and she'd feel sorry for the Juggernaut later. Having fought her way to her friends, the majority of Danielle's energy was already spent, but her body was still in decent form. Aside from the standard collection of bruises, torn clothes, nicks, and scrapes she was relatively unscathed…though the same couldn't be said for Marrow, or even Karma. In spite of the Cheyenne's insistence that she could handle the situation on her own, an injured Shan waddled into the fray. Stubbornness seemed to be a trait shared by all of her friends, herself included. :I've been looking all over for you.: She mused, trying to make her thoughts seem offhand. Ever since Rahne's frightening transformation, Danielle was simultaneously worried and at a loss. :Calvary's here, time to go Rahnedrop.: Satisfied with her results, she strapped her bow to her back and replaced it with a newly acquired handgun. She climbed down her perched and ran to meet her friend, pushing past the constrained SHIELD agents and the felled giant whilst stocking up on more weapons. "Marrow, can you walk…or run even, running would be good now." She said aloud, gesturing at them as Shan yelled for them to hurry. "We paved a swath down this way; it should be a relatively safe escape route. If not..." To finish her sentence, she waved her new firearms and smile. Following Karma's advice she turned and ran, leading the other to X-Men back the way she'd come, to what she hoped was relative safety. |
