“Plenty of time for business.” She drew the words out, almost humming them a tiny bit as they walked down one of the busier shopping districts of Mutant Town. Given the fairly obvious nature of their physical mutations she thought it was better to stay to the well-known, no matter how much she’d rather shop in the fancier parts of Manhattan. Reaching over with a hand that was wrapped in a slick black leather glove she squeezed his cheeks just lightly. “Come on now, you know how to have a little fun.”

He didn’t get his reputation for nothing.

“This job is going to be a cakewalk.” She shrugged as they passed a store with some clothing in the window that caught her eye. “And I’ve been holed up in Sanctuary for so long that I could use a little time to blow off some steam.”

She knew how he’d interpret that. It was too easy sometimes.

With a quick glance at her surroundings she took note of who was around. An elderly lady crossing the street and mumbling to herself beneath her breath, a couple of kids down the block playing catch with what looked like a Nerf football, and an assortment of people all engrossed in their own pathetic dealings, none of them even casting a curious glance at the two assassins.

“How hard could this be,” she said in a half-whisper. “Couple of days work tops, and the world is rid of three suits.” She shrugged and linked arms with him as they walked. “So treat me like a lady dammit or I’ll kick your ass and force feed you your balls.”

She lay her head sweetly against his arm as they continued to walk.

“I want to buy something pretty.”

Telford rolled his eyes, Mutant town was the epitome of what was wrong with the mutants outside of the Brotherhood. "You know I hate this place. It reminds me of a zoo, with all the good little muties corralled into one district." Despite being little more than a hired thug, he had allowed himself to buy some of the finer things befitting his new role of Black Knight of Hellfire within Selene's court, and so today he was dressed in a tailored suit befitting someone in a much higher station than he held.

Van frowned as she reached across and pinched at his cheeks, only she would have the audacity to do such to him and she was one of the few that he would let get away with such. “Come on now, you know how to have a little fun.” Vanisher smirked, the smirk that only he could. "You know exactly where we would be Neena, if we were having fun." The slime oozed off him so easily he couldn't help himself. "Remember that time when you wore that little red number and you did that thing.." He laughed to himself, ready to receive some sort of berating or recount of how that weekend went down in Domino's mind.

"Of course this job is going to be cakewalk you have your very own teleportation device here, if it were any easier, I'd suggest we did it blind folded." Arrogance was the biggest chink in Vanisher's armour, he felt he was infallible and with Domino here too luck was on his side. "If you were that bored in Sanctuary you should given me a call, you know I'd clear my diary for you." His arrogant smirk now spread from ear to ear.

"I love it when you talk dirty to me." She linked her arm with his and rested her head against the arm of his suit jacket. "Buying you something nice better be worth my while."

It was easy to ignore Telford’s whining…primarily because he did it all the time and it became a droning sort of background noise to her-almost comforting in its relentless monotone. So he didn’t like Mutant Town? She looked around-on the one hand who did? It wasn’t exactly a vacation hot spot or a blossoming tourist attraction. But that point was overshadowed by the fact that Telford was one of those people who Domino truly suspected was at their happiest when there was something to bitch about.

“My very own teleportation device…” She mused as they walked. “I like the way you phrase that,” she admitted. “It gives a sort of ownership that most men might shrink away from. But you aren’t most men are you Tellyford?”

She more or less ignored his references. Whether they were true or not it didn’t really matter. Her smirk and eye roll didn’t reveal anything one way or the other as to the validity of what they might or might not be doing for fun. She did want to say this. “Guess that all depends.” Because really it always did.

The other thing she wasn’t going to comment on was whether or not it was going to be ‘worth his while’. Because really what was life without a few surprises? Telford seemed like he always wanted everything spelled out for him and lined up. Domino consistently failed him in that department because it was good for him. She’d learned to throw luck to the wind in the past. Why couldn’t he give it a try? She squeezed his arm and smirked coyly at him, letting him interpret that however he wanted.

Then she grabbed a hat off of the rack outside a clothing store and put it on, tipping it down over the patch on her eye and looking at him playfully. “With what we make here we could probably go on a vacation for a while. Get away from Sanctuary. Maybe go see some of Europe or something. Aren’t you from Europe?”

How many times had she asked that same question? It was more or less a running joke at this point.

"You know me, I don't shrink away from anything." The Vanisher of old was a runner, but since his elevation he had realised that running was for the weak. He left out the fact that he was already partially owned by another, but she didn't need to know that just now. "The only difference between me and any other man is my ambition and the fact I have buried all things that make me weak." The nicknames and the touchy feely was getting under his skin now. "Are you trying to get me to lighten up?" Perhaps it couldn't hurt to unwind for once.. after all they were getting paid for this so it wasn't a total waste.

"I'll lay off the smut and relax a bit if you tone down on the nicknames?" Domino was the anomaly in his organised life, perhaps it was because of her powers or something else he didn't know and he wasn't going to over think it. But whenever she was around his ordered reality became more and more chaotic. Not that he would complain, she was profitable for him when they worked together. "I'll perhaps even complain less too..."

The arm squeeze and smirk satisfied him for now, as he stopped pressing that subject, as Domino pulled the hat down over her face, he lifted it up. He had wondered how long it would take for the topic of vacations and where he came from would come up; the latter was a closely guarded secret that no one knew. "Money isn't a problem for me at the moment, and if you wanted a vacation there are nicer places than Europe we could go to, and you should remember that I am from nowhere in the state of anywhere" He grinned. "Nice try though Dom, though it wont slip out that easily." He offered her a wink, his eyes wandered over the stands of the shop though nothing in particular grabbed his interest.

"Of course, dear." She knew there were things he wanted hidden-even from her. He had his secrets, she had hers. She never genuinely pried into his past, and she damn well expected the same sort of courtesy on her part. "And you have yourself a deal," she added as an afterthought. She'd tone down on the nicknames for his sake. The smut didn't really bother her, though she was doubtlessly far less amused by it than he was. Most of the time it got little more than a roll of the eyes from her anyway...and the occasional deep sigh of exasperation.

But all in all they had always had a sort of understanding. It was the exact thing that made them work so well together. There were lines drawn in the sand and when it was all said and done neither of them had any real desire to walk past those lines.

And so instead of further elaboration, she let silence be their guest as they strolled down the street like two old friends and lovers. Until she saw a store that very much caught her eye and dragged him in for a little fun.

***Two hours and forty minutes later***

Sitting at a sectioned off table in a small outdoorsy cafe, Domino tore into a bite of her sandwich and opened up a small filed in front of them. There was nobody even close to being around them, and the small tip she had given the waitress was enough to make sure that it stayed that way. "Okay, first target tonight is Mr. Anthony Blevins," she said without bothering to swallow or cover her mouth while she spoke. "CEO, or CFO, or ASS, whatever. He lives in a penthouse and we have access to the neighbor's place. He has some security...cameras and a few hired men. Guess it's not too uncommon for guys in his line to be paranoid."

She took another bite while Telford glanced over the file.

"We should be able to knock this off in an hour tops. Then maybe you can take me out on a real date." She gave him a look that was impossible to read. "Sometimes you have to work for it you know."

Flicking through the pages of the file.

"It doesn't say if they are powered or humie guards." He disliked the idea of not knowing but either way it shouldn't be too hard for them to pull the job of. Continuing to look at key pieces of information plans began to formulate in his mind; how to deal with the guards, how to deal with the security and most importantly how to deal with the target. Getting in and getting out would be the easy part, he could teleport both himself and Domino in without even raising his pulse.

Lifting a coffee cup to his lips he sipped at the hot contents of the cup. "We cut the security before we go, I'll teleport you into the bedroom, you deal with Blevins and I have my fun with the security." A small smile was creeping onto his face, he was enjoying this anything that involved plotting with a cash payment at the end was catnip to Vanisher.

Glancing over his shoulders to make sure that they were still enjoying their own privacy. "Two silenced pistols, one clip each. One for each of us." The statement wasn't really for Neena's benefit but more for his self as he continued to think of how he'll be dealing with the guards.

"I'll keep them pinned down in this room here." Placing the blue prints of the penthouse on the table he pointed, glancing up at Domino as she took another bite of her sandwich. "I don't want to be in the penthouse for more than ten minutes, if we pull this off well, we'll have time to sit down to dinner and have the rest of the night to ourselves before anyone notices something is up." He would neither commit, nor object to the idea of a proper date just yet.

Domino made a loud slurping sound through the straw of her mostly depleted lemonade as he began to invest in the plan a little. He was living too much in his head again, but she was far too kind to point it out to him, and honestly it didn't do any good. She'd pointed this very thing out to him on a number of different occasions already.

Instead she just lifted her index finger. "I have just one thing to interject here." And then she belched very loudly, turning the head of someone passing by. Feigning disgust she hit Telford on the arm. "You pig!"

Then she flipped the folder around. "Sounds good. Ten minutes should be plenty of time. And remember, this is only phase one of three. There are two other jokers we'll have to deal with before it's all said and done."

Her eyes scanned some of the details, but she honestly didn't need to know much about them. Honestly she wasn't sure she wanted to know. A roving gaze stopped on the face of their first victim. Winning Fortune 500 smile, Ivy League son of a bitch. She felt no real attachment or remorse for him. Whatever the reason was that they were hired to do this, whether he deserved it or not...honestly it didn't make a lick of difference.

And in that moment for a split second she had a glimpse into the eyes of the Domino that was. The one that lived not too many years ago, the one that had joined the New York Police Department with the altruistic hope of making a better world. There was a pang of some sort that she couldn't rightly identify with and then she looked up at one of her only friends while chewing on the inside of her bottom lip thoughtfully.

"Let's do this now," she said. "I have the feeling I will need a long soak in the tub after this." She stood up and dropped a twenty on the table, grabbing her bags and then stepping over to put a hand on Telford's shoulder.

"Take us the quick way," she said. "These shoes are starting to hurt a little."

Domino was as rough as they came when it came to ettiquette, not that it mattered to Telford, she was one of the few people he was willing to trust with a weapon behind his back.

Opening his mouth as if to add more to his plan, Domino raised her index finger and he shut it again, letting her add whatever it was she was going to add to the plan, which turned out to be a loud belch, as heads turned to look at them Domino kindly laid the blame on him as she hit on the arm.

Lowering his voice so only the pair could hear it. "I think the term is excuse you." Offering a slight smirk as he idly rubbed at the spot at which she hit him. Closing the folder he placed it back in his plain black rucksack. "I hadn't forgotten the other two, I just assumed you'd blow a fuse or something if I told you what I had in mind for those two as well as this one. Perhaps, if you're nice to me we can do the other two your way."

Who these people were did not matter to him, he was being paid to remove them and remove them he would. There was no room for being soft when the woman that you served eats the weak for breakfast.

Draining the remaining contents of his drink he placed the cup back on the table and grabbed his bag, Domino was already up and ready before he just got his bag over his shoulder when she placed her hand on his shoulder. "I think I'm going to need a long bath when this over to" Smirking to himself, without giving her any time to cut him down he focused his mind on their destination and within an instant they were both gone.

All that remained, where they stood was the tell tale VT! of Telford's teleporting.

…one hour later…

It was highly convenient, being able to port right into the guy’s apartment like that. And no matter how hard it was to admit it, Domino was very glad that Vanisher had taken the extra time to disable some of the cameras and other security devices. Not that they’d have been able to stop her, because they wouldn’t. But regardless she didn’t need her face plastered all over everything. She had far too identifiable of a mug shot, and that brand of infamy would just complicate…everything.

But as they materialized in the guy’s living room the two of them moved with the instincts and skill that only came from having worked together on a number of different occasions. Domino spun, pistol in hand and fired two shots which weren’t much louder than bottled breath and just as quickly two large men in suits crumpled lifelessly to the floor.

She chanced a quick glance over at Vanisher and then nodded to the bedroom door, the sound of running water coming to them from the other side signifying that their target was most likely in the shower. “Time for some good, clean fun,” she said.

But as she turned to move toward the bedroom door it suddenly flew open and a man with a pistol and his own silencer stepped out. Seeing Vanisher and Domino his eyes went wide in momentary surprise before they were set with determination and the silenced shots began to ring out.

Domino knew she had to keep moving. She tucked into a roll and drew his fire away from Vanisher, stray shots destroying some of the surveillance equipment in the room as she continued to move. Not that she minded, but somehow she didn’t think this guy was part of Vanisher’s equation.

“This is why plans suck,” she said to him with a soft growl as she knocked over a table and used it for cover. She could hear other people in the bedroom. What was going on back there anyway?

Vanisher welcomed infamy with welcome arms so he had no issue taking care of the security before he teleported Domino in, it hadn't taken him many minutes to disable the camera's in the living room. In preparation for the night's work he'd changed out of his suit and back into his leather trousers, the entity of his tribal tattoos were now on display.

With carefully prepared moves that only came with knowing how your partner worked, Vanisher and his pistol swung round to make sure no one could sneak up on them. Unluckily for him both guards were already in front of them and he heard two muffled sounds as Domino dispatched the two bodyguards with deadly accuracy.

"Well that was easy." He smirked, "two nil to you?" Hearing the noise of the shower running Vanisher wrinkled his nose, he did not want to see that much tonight, though he managed to hold his tongue from complaining just this once.

It was then that he was caught off guard and his plan began falling apart, the door opened and the guy, guard, lover whoever had his gun out. As he began pulling the trigger, Telford disappeared in a blink of an eye, a series of VT!'s filled the room as Vanisher dodged the first few bullets. The guard was now focusing on Domino who was safely behind cover and Vanisher took his opportunity to kill the guard.

A single VT! filled the room and Vanisher was behind the man with a gun. "Behind you big guy." He whispered into his ear and before he could react Vanisher had grabbed the mans by the head twisting until he heard the tell tale sound of neck snapping. The now dead guards limp body fell to the ground and Vanisher grinned from ear to ear at Domino. "I get two points for not using the gun." Not wanting to give Domino a chance to refute his claim he teleported again, this time into the room next door.

"Well, well, well" Grinning he raised his gun, at the woman who was just finishing to wrap a towel around her body. Out of the corner of his eye he caught the moving form of the man they were here to kill thumbling with a cell phone. "Excuse me" he spoke to the woman and turned his attention to their target.

"Now don't go inviting anymore, this is a private party." carefully aiming his gun, Vanisher pulled the trigger twice, the man collapsing on the floor, writing in pain as Vanisher shot out his two knee caps. He wasn't going to be causing them much more trouble. Turning his attention back to the woman who was now screaming. "What should I do with you?"

Behind the table Domino checked her clips and saw that she still had plenty of ammo left. She could hear the telltale sounds of Vanisher as he ported around the room and then she actually wrinkled her nose up a little at the deep crunching sound that came from the gunman’s twisting neck. She dared a peek and saw the guard slip out of Telford’s hands and slump to his knees before falling immediately face first into the carpet. She also caught that sneer on Telford’s face. It was an expression that almost said that he enjoyed killing with his bare hands.

Which was not exactly how she remembered him from past encounters…at all. His words sounded alien to her, as did his tone. Telford had killed before, they both had. But they both tended to try and keep the casualties to a minimum…and neither of them ever saw it as a fun sort of game. The thought crossed her mind suddenly that either something was very wrong with Telford, or she hadn’t really known him as well as she thought. Her money was on the former.

A deep concern welled up in her as she stood up and hurdled the table to make her way into the other room. She heard two more muffled shots and stepped in to see their mark collapsed on the ground in a growing pool of blood. But he wasn’t dead…and it looked to her like Vanisher was trying to draw the whole process out the same way that a cat toys with a mouse before making the final kill. Domino wasn’t sure if she could stomach it. She raised her gun and pulled the trigger, silencing the man’s anguished cries immediately.

Then she turned and threw a pillow at Vanisher, knocking his gun out of the way before he could kill the terrified woman. “No!” She stepped over and raised her gun, bringing it down on the woman’s head and knocking her clean out. Then she returned her glare to Vanisher. “We’re done here. Take us out.”

Screaming louder as Domino entered the room and put their target out of his misery. Vanisher's smirk had spread from ear to ear as he watched the woman desperately look for an escape but there was nowhere for her to go. Leveling his gun at the woman he just pulled the as the thrown pillow knocked his aim causing the bullet to bury itself in the wall behind the woman. "What the hell was that for?" Vanisher demanded, though however much Vanisher was wanting an argument he wasn't going to get one; Domino crossed the room and knocked the woman out then demanded that Vanisher took them back.

Moodily Vanisher grabbed Domino by the wrist (not hard enough to do any sort of damage) and focused his mind. Within an instant they were long gone from the penthouse and back in the relative comfort of their shared hotel room.

Taking taking the clip from his pistol he lazily threw it down on the side unit of the bed and threw himself down, picking up the TV remote and began flicking from the channels. Clearly he was of the belief that he did nothing wrong during that last outing.

Looking across to her he spoke calmly like nothing had happened back in the penthouse. "So take out and movie or are we going to dinner?"

To those not accustomed to it, teleportation was extremely disorienting. One second they were standing in their target's apartment amid unconscious and dead bodies. She had been staring into his eyes and trying to peer through into the inner workings of what drove the type of behavior she’d seen…and in the blink of an eye they were standing in the quiet of their room. Her eyes still on his. She remembered how that form of travel had once made her queasy. Right now her stomach was knotted for other reasons.

As if nothing happened he let go of her arm and started tossing his weapons onto the nightstand in a way that struck Domino as fairly dismissive. She narrowed her eyes at him when he plucked up the remote and started flipping through the channels. He was avoiding her and she wasn’t having it.

In answer to his question she had already drawn her gun, three silent shots ripping holes into the television. It smoked and crackled as she put the gun back into her holster with a small but satisfied little smile. “We’re going out,” she said. “But not until you tell me what in the hell happened back there.”

With a black gloved fist placed on her leather clad hip she leveled a warning look at him. He was now her partner after all, and she needed to know if he’d taken a trip off the reservation. “And you know exactly what I’m talking about. I’ve worked with you for years and I’ve never seen what I saw tonight.”

It was one thing to get paid to do a hit, but the Vanisher she’d worked with never relished that part of the job. He did what he had to do, but didn’t enjoy it. “It looked to me like you were having way too much fun with the notion of torture and death.” Her brows raised at the end, though it really wasn’t a question as much as it was a challenge for him to try and refute it.

Flippancy was both an art and a defense for Vanisher, though tonight however much employed it, it wasn't going to work; Domino and Vanisher had known each other for too long and knew each other too well to just be able to cast aside like there was nothing at all between them except a casual acquaintance. Finding the local new channel he settled back to wait and see if any details of their little escapade had reached the news yet, before he could get too comfortable though, three silent shots broke shattered the TV screen.

"Hey! I was watching that!" Throwing the remote control on the bed, crossing his legs he looked at her pointedly. "What do you mean what happened back there?" He was perfectly aware what she meant, he wasn't going to get involved in a debate over what was right and wrong. "We teleported in, fired some shots and made ourselves some money no?" Vanisher had been changed, and not completely by his own hand, no longer was he the sniviling thief that ran at the faintest whiff of trouble. Now there was a disease in him; not a disease that could be cured by a hospital, but something corrupting him non the less.

Domino was now standing hand on hips, she expected an answer, though through an unhealthy mix of fear and loyalty he could not tell her who he was moonlighting with, nor of his role within the Hellfire Club; maybe he could tell her with time but for now it was safer for the both of them if he kept his mouth shut. "I was dealing with the problem. Now she's going to go and tell the police about all about what she saw tonight. Don't forget that I'm not the only one with unique tattoos Domino."

Within a blink of an eye he was stood in front of Domino, if he were much closer their faces would be touching. "Am I detecting a hint of caring in your voice?" Vanisher wasn't sure whether to find it oddly curious or outright absurd.

She angrily tilted one eyebrow when he started to play dumb, while simultaneously narrowing her eyes just a slight bit. Telford was many things, he was cocky, lewd, too sure of himself, crass, meticulous, and overall infuriating at times...but he was not even a little dumb-unless you counted that way that all members of the male gender tended to be. He knew what she was talking about, and she knew he knew she knew. "I just want you to know," she said in a flat and even tone. "I'm still armed."

But he countered with the practical approach. Leave no witnesses-which was all well and good, but really it wasn't enough of an explanation for her in the long run. The Telford she thought she knew wouldn't have dealt with surprises like that, let alone with such malignant glee. She held the image of him in her mind's eye, grinning like the cat who had eaten the canary, enjoying every minute of the torture and drawing out the agony of death for his entertainment. It wasn't a practical get the job done sort of attitude she had seen, otherwise they wouldn't be having this conversation.

Her eyes widened momentarily when he suddenly appeared before her, his face hovering inches in front of hers in what was certainly a challenge of sorts. But she didn't back down, and just locked eyes with him defiantly, and his words just hung in the air for an uncomfortable moment before she shook her head just slightly.

"Maybe you are an idiot," she commented with a gloved pat to his cheek and a soft roll of her eyes. It was the only answer he was going to get especially in light of the fact that he was giving her absolutely nothing.

Then she pushed him out of her way and moved over to her side of the bed to drop off several pistols and knives. "Whatever. It's done. You want to be an enigmatic creep around me then have at it." She unzipped her suit and slipped unashamedly out of it while fishing out something a little more presentable for a dinner out from her suitcase. She wasn't about to let this totally spoil her night.
