Date: November 3rd, 2012 Time: About 9pm. "I'm telling you Jonny, you should have seen their faces when I told the class that this semester they were dissecting actual velociraptors rather than frogs this year." Hank chuckled heartily before taking a sip of the mug filled with the amber liquid, getting a little of the foamy head caught on the fine hair of his upper lip as he sometimes did before wiping it away. It was his first weekend back in New York in a long time. Since the Skrull fight, though that was only a brief stay. Ever since the attack on the school over a year ago, Hank had stayed primarily in Utopia to the point everything almost felt new and different as he came to the city again after so long. He was never really the most social of people since the accident at the Brand corporation that changed him into the grizzly blue furred super human man-ape. Longer felt was a conversation of any length with the clone of the man that he likely would have called his best man if he ever married, the man that often leveled out Hank's library of knowledge with a joke or a prank. Jonathan Harper was Hank's best friend, and Hank would like to consider the clone of that man something similar. Which was why the first day back in New York during his very short vacation from the school in the Savage Land he called Jonny up, and the second day they were out for drinks and catching up. Hank chose a spot in Mutant Town, not wanting to bother with potential riff raff some drunk racist might cause so soon. Just something nice and simple. "So how have things been going with X-Factor?" The blue furred man asked as he gently set the mug down for a moment. "I hear less and less about your team since...Alex and Scott...and Mystique." The last part didn't come out exactly the way he planned it to. He would not deny, there was some resentment to the idea of Mystique being anywhere near anyone he cared about, and while he did agree with Scott on much of it. He would not outright object to the concept of her being redeemable. Nothing was impossible, but many things were improbable. But if Alex Summers and Mystique could prove him wrong, prove Scott wrong. Well, he'd consider eating his hat, if he owned one anymore. |

"Velociraptors?" Jonny smirked, "Those the 'clever girl' ones from Jurassic Park? I barely remember that movie. Seems my donor saw it in Mechanicsville with Merry Ellen Pervis and well, boys will be boys." He poured himself a fresh mug from the pitcher and said, "Hmmm, maybe I should look up Merry Ellen, she'd probably be all excited to see me. Big time hero, thought to be dead... you know, I never really took advantage of this whole back from the great beyond thing. It could've been veeeery lucrative, Hanky Panky, my boy." When Volt had first been activated, Arize's cloning tanks having nurtured him and grown him from a collection of stolen cells into the perfectly formed image of an X-Man lost to the fickle whims of disease, he had been nothing but a killer, a weapon for Mojo's arsenal. It was oddly enough Longshot who had woken him from his conditioning, and those memories of the hero his donor had been had flooded back. It was horrible and painful and Jon had tried to fight it at first. To remember having done such great evil but to have the life of a good and honest man inside your head can really mess a guy up. But Jon was trying to be something more, and trying to pick up where his donor had left off, and that included his friendship with the bouncing blue beast before him. It had taken awhile because Hank had resisted the friendship, guilt for not being able to save Jon.1, worry that it would be disrespectful to the original to like the double, anger that his friend had been exploited and dishonored, it was all complicated emotions that Jonny didn't care to think about, so he was happy to talk about other complicated emotions, like those between the Brothers Summers. "Look, Hank, how long have you known Scotty Boy? You ever known him to admit he's wrong?" Jon asked, "Well, Alex doesn't fall far from the tree. Summers equals stubborn as a country mule. Alex believes he's right, that he has to do this thing, and no one's going to convince him otherwise. Mystique, so far, has done everything she promised to do, and nothing that she promised not to. She's been minding her ps and qs, that much is a fact." |

"Those Summers boys are definitely something else, aren't they?" Hank responded with a rehtorical question before finishing the last of his mug leaving only the residual foamy white head of the beer before taking the pitcher for himself and starting the whole process all over again. "I can't imagine if the world would be able to handle more of them, better or worse. Though with their father returning from seemingly beyond the grave, and still no Apocalypse 2012, we may be in the clear." Hank joked momentarily before returning to the actual topic. "Yeah I know how Scott is, and if Alex is like that as well, then things will be a little tense for a while. Or at least until the next major attack on the world, those usually bring our groups together no matter what." He shrugged, it was darker humor but meant to be comedic at least, despite the actual truth behind it. "It's just... hard to wrap my head around it. It's Mysitque... it's hard not to see her as one of those forces in the dark that always worked against us, what we were trying to accomplish." He took another sip from the now filled mug. "Charles would have known how to handle this, and he probably would accept her with open arms, cautious arms, but still open." Hank muttered. "A lot of things would be different if he were still around, though I am not certain in what ways." Hank smiled lightly. "Not really sure how much you remember of him from your past self's memories." |

"My memories are pretty much his," Jon said, "I mean those last few weeks are hazy because of the pain meds, and he was sleeping a lot, but you know... I remember the Prof." His voice got a little quiet and he looked down at his beer, "I remember most of it, maybe actually more than Jon would have. Part of the manipulations to the clones brains, so that we could retain whatever information that was necessary for us to complete our mission. That was one of the reasons it was so hard for me when Longshot woke me up... because Jonny... he was a good guy, and he didn't get to do what he needed to do. If I could've swapped places with him, I would have, because what I did with his life, what I was made to do? It's a dishonor to him." He up ended his beer and poured another, saying, "But that's such a downer, you know. I think that while Jon might not have liked my start, he'd be ok with how I'm living now. X-Factor's done some good things that I'm pretty proud of. Mystique... I know what she did before, but Hank, you should see her, I mean, how hard she's working. We have kids down there, little moloid kids, and she's... almost motherly towards them. It's weird, but you know she's had kids of her own. Alex says that proves that at some point she had hope. You know how he is. He's going to work himself to the bone to try and help her find that hope again. It's what the guy does." Looking across the table at his friend, Jonny smiled, "But, when it's all said and done, there's nothing you or I can do to end this little Family Feud... unless you want to play Richard Dawson and give Scotty a big old kiss on the lips. I think they just need to work it out themselves. Hopefully before the baby is born. You know about that, right? Alex is going to be a daddy. Crazy times to raise a child though." |

Hank reached across the table and gave the clone of Jonothon Harper a pat on the shoulder as he nearly turned everything into a slightly downward angle than what the big blue mutant had planned on for the evening between 'old' friends. "You have done much to honor his life and name, Jonny. And that's coming from the man who probably knew as much about him as you do. He would have been proud at what you've accomplished. Never forget that." Hank smiled before returning back down to his seat, not that it was much of a movement considering the length and size of his arms and hands. Jon continued to defend Mystique's development, but like most people in the world, he would be hard pressed to believe anything unless he saw it first hand. But with Mystique he would need to see it consistently, she was a master of deception, and as much as even part of him wanted to believe that the worst in the world could change for the better, it was difficult to get pass things he harbored against the woman. "I imagine she has, I've always theorized she was potentially as old as Logan after all, perhaps older given her mutation and experience. So I imagine children are not unlikely in her past." Hank muttered. "But perhaps you are right. I should see her." Hank nodded taking another sip of his beer from the now less than chilled mug. "The moloid children as well, I don't want to make them sound like a science experiment or anything, but their existence is potentially more unique than mutants, or even the Skrulls and Nuwali. Plus I still have yet to see your new home." He smirked, taking Jonny up on an offer that may have not even been there. "I am going to be in the city for the most of the month, there is much I would like to see to before returning to Utopia for the final stretch before the school is finished." He nearly choked on the beer as he laughed into his cup when the idea of him playing the mediator of Family Feud between the Summers brothers. "You trying to kill me there?" Hank chuckled further. "I know they will. I just wish it would be faster than what is happening. Yes, I know of Lorna's pregnancy. I'm happy for both of them. You know of Rachel, right? Scott and Jean's daughter from a potential future, that is so like her parents she found a way to come back in time to try and fix things despite potential risk of her own life." Hank muttered, part of him was proud of that quality the young woman possessed coming from her parents. Despite the unconventional nature of her arrival, she was already part of the family. He just hoped that she would come into their world as she was meant to, and hopefully not be robbed of her life as she seemed to have been. He finished the last of this round before moving to pour more from the pitcher into his mug. "It's astounding honestly, how much things have changed since the original five X-Men formed. Scott and Jean are married, have a daughter. You're back from death in a sense, as is Warren. Scott's little brother is going to be a father. Two young women I looked after like daughters or little sisters are now engaged, one of which will be married at the end of the month. I'm blue. We've traveled to other worlds, fought things not of our own, live with ancient giants. We've seen our home destroyed, but we've built many others. And strangest of all, Mystique is a good guy." Hank smirked and raised up his mug slightly. "To the most uncanny mutants in the universe." |
