November 20th 1pmish Dee was in her room laid out on her bed when Bradley called her in. Why the heck did she even have a bed in the first place? It was not like she actually needed the thing since she had not been able to sleep without a special hibernation chamber since she was eleven. Really all she needed in her bedroom was… nothing. The things that regular people enjoyed no longer applied to her. She did not have to eat, sleep, no need for beauty supplies and honestly she did not even need clothing. The containment suit was all that Dee needed. Well actually even that was not needed. She could roam the world as a mass of energy. Despite no longer having a body, her mind was still very much human. Having familiar comforts like clothes and a furnished bedroom made her feel as normal as possible. She was glad that Nemesis called her when he did because she could feel herself slipping into a bout of depression. It was troubling for Dee when she was left too long alone with her thoughts. There was always something negative that crept its way into her mind anxious to ruin her day. It was for her own mental health that she stayed busy with something. The doctor did not say what it was that he wanted her for, but knowing him it was probably had something to with testing out a new weapon or doohickey. That man had more gadgets than every season of Star Trek and Stargate combined. Dee appeared in the X-Corps building with a shimmer of violet energy. “Bonjour monsieur Paul,” she said to the security guard at the entrance. “How dem lil ones of yours doing?” “Oh they’re doing just fine, Miss Milo. Thank you for asking.” “Always good to hear. You take care now ami.” Dee nodded before teleporting up to the floor that held Doctor Nemesis’ office. She knocked before stepping in. “You wanted to see me, Doc?” |

He'd come across this discovery on by mistake, but was never one to squander an opportunity or look a gift horse in the mouth; he just took what he was given and ran with it. Which was why he'd called Venus to his office, and had been bouncing around it like an overexcited rodent ever since. When she knocked on the door, he looked up from his calculations and beckoned her inside. "Yes. I've got some interesting news that might put a smile on your face...err suit face...thing." He took a seat and began typing on his computer, then motioned for her to sit as well. "As you know, you're a psionic consciousness contained in a self sustaining and constantly replenishing energy field. You're a sentient energy source!" That much was obvious as he'd done much of the work to refine her suit and power usages since he'd known her, but he was so excited he couldn't help but point it out. "With a bit of work, a generator could be built to run off of your unique brand of energy, and since you are pure energy, it doesn't have to be converted like fuel or wood or steam. That means it's potency is through the roof." Standing up, he poured himself a celebratory drink and downed it in one gulp before turning back to her. "Ms. Milo. With your permission, your energy emissions could be used to power an entire settlement for months, maybe even years on end! It could be a real step in clean energy!" Tapping a few commands on his keyboard, a holographic display lit up a clear wall, and the map shown on it zoomed in several times before displaying a small town. "This," he pointed at it with a laser pen. "Is Isla Raton, a small settlement in Venezuela. Population 3,000, which should be comfortably doable with your current power levels. We charge the generator, plug it into the local power grid, and just like that, 3,000 people have free power and can live a better life." He grinned and took a seat. "What do you say to that, Ms. Milo? You help these people, and the biggest problem you'll have is a drop in your energy output for a few hours, a day at most." |

“Interesting news eh?” Dee took up the offered seat as Bradley began typing away at the computer before him. “Oui, the eggheads told me bout that back when they found me.” Before that day she was unaware of what she was. In her mind she was nothing more than a monster. Dee recalled the time when Dr. Franklin first came across her. She had just tried to end her life for the second or third time with no success. If it had not been for the doctor there was no telling what state she would have been in right now. She could just be floating around in space or something maybe even “dead” from being too dispersed. Technically Dee would never die, only loss consciousness until her energy could replenish. It was a sad existence really, knowing that she would never be able to join her loved ones in paradise. She was not even sure anymore that such a thing existed. As he went on talking about how she was a renewable energy source, Dee smiled just as he said she would. “Looks like ya right, doc. That did put a smile on me. Ya know I have been thinkin’ bout somethin’ like this before. I wouldn’t mind one bit.” This was what X-Corps was started for anyway, making the world a better place through science and technology. Dee was a living, not-so-much breathing source of energy and this was probably the best way to put her to great use. Providing power to an entire town that needed it was something that she was going to be proud of for a very long time. Since she was going to be on the planet forever may as well make it a planet worth living on. She looked on at the holographic display of the targeted city. “Surprisingly I ain’t been to South America before.” With her abilities she could be anywhere on or off the planet in the blink of an eye. One would think that was something to be taken advantage of. “I say you get started with that machine of yours. I’ll be right here waiting on ya, doc.” |
