Restructuring X-Corps' Image

ALL X-CORPS MEMBERS PLEASE RESPOND.

Soooo, in an effort to continue pushing away from the image of X-Corps' old ways and establishing more of our focus on the R&D facility, I'm pushing along a few details in hopes of adjusting the board information to this new image.

First Step: Change the faction name. My suggestion is Horizon Labs. Know it? We'll just be borrowing the concept and adapting it over what we already have.

Second Step: Faction description. I've taken the liberty of rewriting the Available Team Affiliations description.

Team Leader: DR. JAMES "NEMESIS" BRADLEY.

Base of Operations: Horizon Labs building, Mutant Town, NYC.

An organization born out of necessity from the turmoils that afflict Mutant Town, Horizon Labs is a collective of some of the greatest minds in the world. Operating with the stance of creating a better future for all, both humans and mutants alike, Horizon Labs dedicates itself to the research and development of new technologies and sciences. Once the R&D Facility of X-Corps, Horizon Labs has grown to an independant company of X-Corps, able to stand on its own two feet without the need for aid or charity.

Naturally, Horizon Labs isn't the most combative group, so if that's what you're looking for try somewher else. They won't often go toe-to-toe with supervillains... Not without a magnetohydrodynamic blast cannon, at least. Plots within Horizon Labs are far more scientifically minded, their ventures focusing more heavily on conundrums and technology rather than full on X-Gene battles. Horizon Labs is at the service of SHIELD and any friendly faction, capable of working with them both in a non-combative manner and combative manner as needed, giving them a wide breadth of accessibility to other groups.

Thinking of joining? Ask yourself these two questions: 1) Does your character have a history or power that could be beneficial to the faction and/or for the glorious nation of science? 2) Have you read X-Club? No? Do it. That's what we're doing. SCIENCE.

Step Three: Prerequisites to joining.

Pretty simple, which is hinted at in the last paragraph of the description: does your character fit in? We want to move away from the community outreach perspective completely, so we'll want people who can be a benefit to Horizon Labs. So the prerequisites, basically, is your character capable of fitting into a group of people like Horizon Labs has because of character history (Rao and Moira have specialties regarding mutants), power (Lodestone feeds the Labs free energy and electromagnetism has a crap ton of uses), or both (Dr. Nemesis)? Basically, will you be of use to the Labs? People who are in the faction already don't need to worry about this. We'll work it somehow. (It should already be done at this point since the change has been happening for months...) This will be for future members.

So that's pretty much it. TL;DR: New name, officially new perspective, prereqs for newbies. The bake sales are dead. We don't want average joes in. We want people to contribute. We want this to be an actual, stand-alone faction with its own set of rules and qualifications like all the other ones have.

How will this effect the board? It won't. Besides the name and the board description, we'll basically not be doing anything different. We'll keep pushing the direction we've been pushing since the change, but abandoning the preconceived notions of bake sales and community events.

X-Corps itself? It will still be there. People can use it as they please or work there, but X-Corps itself should no longer be the faction.

Before any of this is put into effect, I want the majority of current X-Corps member's input, as well as any other input that can be provided. We've already started moving toward the direction of what is described above. This is just making the image officially changed in board details.

This makes me happy.

I support it.

I propose no changes to the above

Sounds like a really cool idea...just not sure if there's gonna be a place for Mercy at the new X-corp. I actually joined because I thought it was a community outreach type of faction. Maggs isn't a scientist or even a real medical professional, so I don't see how she would be qualified...anyhow, I think it'd be great for XMR to have a tech-focused faction. Horizon Labs sounds like a great template, and I think it's gonna be boss. :)

X-Corps has been in this transitional phase since the Skrull ended. I don't think board details have changed to show this so I don't blame you for not being exceedingly familiar with this having just recently joined. All current members of X-Corps will be grandfathered into Horizon Labs, so you don't need to worry about not fitting in yet.

However, for your character, Mercy is in the presence of numerous medical authorities who I'm sure would be happy to enhance Mercy's knowledge and make her an asset. Her powers are fully capable of fitting into this niche because they have a genuine use to society and to the faction. Healers seem to be rare in the mutant world and are even rarer on XMR. We can bump heads to get Mercy to be more than just a field medic.

And just an additional note: X-Corps will still exist on the board. Your character can still work for them, but the faction will be focusing on Horizon Labs.

Things look pretty good so far. I can't really think of anything that stands out as bad or unworkable.

[size0]Say the dog and butterfly,
in the air they like to fly.
Dog and butterfly.
She knew she had to try,
and she float back down to the warm soft ground,
laughing - she don't know why,
but she had to try, she had to try.
Dog and Buttefly.

I'm down with this. Dee isn't anything close to a scientist, medical staff, or any important position like that, but she is a walking source of clean energy so there's plenty of uses for her there.

Well, I definitely love the idea. My character will easily fit in with what was described. Being pretty much an expert in the fields required for science and such and not much of a fighter either, this will definitely suit my character. Count me in. No changes from me.

Well, Ariel wouldn't fit in that much with scientists and all that, but she's learning and keeping up as well as lending her powers to the use of science and helping when it's needed to keep things cool. I have no changes in mind.
