'Knows Stuff'
March 6th
Afternoon

It had been easy. Of course, most things were when you saw lines of causality. Layla knew where Alix would be. She knew what she would be doing. She knew that, if she fixed the security system to a long out of business bank, set the alarm off, and pay some little girl to shout a few times, that the mutant woman would come running. Of course, she probably didn't need her abilities to predict that. Alix was goodhearted, almost to a fault. And, if life had taught Layla anything, it was that the just were ridiculously predictable.

When that happened, when Alix came running in, probably sensing the mental energy of the girl who had just run out the back,Layla was there to greet her. She had lured her into the bank's safe. Though the bank had went under almost two years ago, the structure was still pretty sound. And, though it was completely devoid of money, the walk in safe was still totally functional.

Layla was hiding behind the safe's large metal door and, when Alix passed, she swung it shut. It spun, latching closed behind her.

"Hey there, Alix. How are ya, sweetie?" She strode toward the woman. She had planned this for quite some time. To say that her tenure in X Factor Investigations had been dramatic was underselling it. She meant to change that now. The future was a map. She had to make sure she hit the right marks.

"You and I have had our differences. That's no secret. I think a big piece of that is because, try as we might, we don't really understand each other. Throw Jamie off the table for a minute. I think we've come to a sort of impasse on that anyway. The truth is, I don't want us to butt heads anymore."

She closed the gap between us. "So, here and now, I want us to make this right. We air out everything and, in the end, we see where we stand with each other."
