March 7th 1:47 PM Mutant Town Community Centre --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Maggie had never been to the community centre in Mutant Town before. It was an alright sort of place, she thought as she examined photos of various local sports teams on the walls of the main lobby. The familiar tang of chlorine in the air was promising. Maybe when things settled down at work, she could start working a weekly swim back into her routine. It had been a good long while since she'd been in the water, and she was starting to feel like a Selkie from the old faerie tales, trapped on land and yearning to return to her native element. Maybe she could convince Ariel to come shopping for bathing suits when the weather cleared up, but today she had other business to attend to. That business was with one Julio Richter, whom she had met just over a month ago in the wake of a drive-by shooting. One could say their friendship was one of convenience, considering that when she first met him he had been sobbing and covered with blood, that she had stopped him from throwing himself off a building and that she had reconstructed a large portion of his abdomen following the most recent attack on Mutant Town. Lately, she had begun to wonder if she would ever meet him outside of a crisis situation. That said, she liked Ric. He was an alright sort of guy, and if she was really honest with herself, it was nice to have a male friend who wasn't constantly trying to protect her. Today, she had tracked him to the gym under the pretence of making sure he hadn't overexerted himself and ruined her handiwork. The real reason she was there? Maggie really didn't have a lot of friends, and if she spent another Saturday alone in her apartment, she was going to start adopting cats. Now if only she knew where he was, this whole quest would be significantly easier. |

There was really only one person that Tabitha Smith could truly, without a doubt, say was the best friend that she had had in the world for a very, very long time now. They were inseparable when they were at school, finding each other as kindred spirits after all that the pair had had to partake in; between the world ending multiple times over, and the separation of five years that they had from one another, when Julio Richter made a decision to leave the Charles Xavier school and make his way to Havok’s X-Factor, where he joined up and had been ever since—barring a few instances here and there, but Tabitha wasn’t sure people were keeping track. She was almost certain they weren’t, actually, but… And, as stated, they had fallen apart for some time before coming back together nearly two months ago now. The pair was like peas in a pod, jumping at the ready to do anything and everything that they possibly could with one another. Their first meeting back had been when they were dosed by a mutant girl that had powers that simulated LSD, but that was a story that Tabitha and Rictor both hadn’t likely told anyone about. Tabby didn’t, but she wasn’t in Rictor’s head constantly, so she couldn’t say. She hoped that he didn’t; that would have been very much embarrassing for both of them, even if Rictor didn’t shy away from that. Tabby didn’t, either, really… But with everything considered, Meltdown didn’t like the idea of being judged by people that she didn’t at all know—even if she knew that she like was, she could place it in a box in the back of her mind and forget it. That was easy enough to do. So, after caving in to the boredom of living alone at the Mansion back in Westchester and the lack of activity that had been occurring therein for the firecracker, she made a decision to seek out her friend. That was why she was searching the streets of Mutant Town, hoping that she knew him enough to be able to figure out where the man would be—that was simple enough, wasn’t it? She didn’t really know, but she didn’t much care either. They had, more or less, picked up where the two of them had left off in 2008 and things had been good for the friendship since. Which wasn’t to much speak for her friendship with some of the other New Mutants, the disappearance of Amara Aquilla still looming freshly in the mind of the energetic blonde. As she walked in through the doors of the mutant town community center’s gym, she found herself colliding into an unfamiliar figure that had much the same intentions that Tabitha herself did. “Hey—watch it!” She shouted, before backing up a bit and looking at the girl, pretending to wipe some dirt off of the pants that clung to her figure. “Walk, much?” She said, her eyes barely visible behind her sunglasses. |

With all that happened in the past month, Ric needed a break from the fucked up world they lived in. The tangible truth was that not much had occurred within that time span; however, the few incidents he found himself in the middle of? Each one were negative experiences that became memories hard to forget. He guessed that coming out of the closet of his homosexuality was a plus, but finding the good in his life was like finding a needle in a haystack. Only recently had he discovered his close friend James Madrox had died, but had also mysteriously resurrected. Further, his ex-girlfriend Alix Smith was tortured by the six-armed freak Spiral, who was also behind the mad-bomb attacks that led to him having a chunk of his waist stripped from him by a street sign-turned-spear. Good thing Edmund Lennart and Margaret Collins were there to uncannily heal him from those deathly wounds. Speaking of the mutant healer, she had to save Ric from an attempted suicide jump from a twelve-story building. He guessed the truly fun time he had was when he and Tabitha Smith had obtained a drug-induced state caused by a mutant bitch that worked at the Cold Stone. But they got arrested and all... maybe it wasn't as fun as it seemed at the time. Julio Richter needed to blow off steam. So here he was, at the Mutant Town Community Center, specifically at its gym, pushing himself to the limit-- especially since he had dealt with so many injuries and occupied himself with so many abrupt missions, he had no time to build his body to its most potential strength. Now that he did have the chance, he didn't hesitate one bit. Today, he had already done his routinely run around Mutant Town, to lose all that fat he gained by drinking himself to death in remorse. Next, he worked on his legs by doing squats and dead-lifts. Lastly working on his chest with pull-ups and various push-ups. His flesh were still warm and his blood was still pumping, even after the shower he had just taken. Good thing today was a quiet day because on busy days, there were always men in the showers-- naked men. Ric didn't want another boner-popping incident to unwillingly occur. Walking out in his white wife-beater, basketball mesh shorts, and wet, stringy hair, he noticed a very familiar person, Tabitha, habitually bitching at someone. Though... that someone was Maggie. "Uhm." With his arms opened wide to hug the both of them in one big group hug, despite the two women not knowing each other, he said, "Mags! Tabs! Throwing me a surprise party, eh?" Letting go of the embrace, he looked around and saw that no one else he knew was there. So, no. No party. "... Anyway! Tabitha, this is Maggie. Maggie, this is Tabitha-- don't mind her, she's always finding herself sassing someone up." The two girls were definitely not dressed in the right attire for the gym, so he wondered why they were there. "So. What are you guys up to?" |
