March 25th 3:00pm Skinful Impressions Tattoo & Piercings Parlor He'd gone through a lot in his young life, but he'd always gotten whatever grief period he needed over with, sucked it up, then persevered. But in the past few days, a girl who'd become a close friend was unfairly attacked by someone else he considered a friend, and while confronting David for pulling a gun on Talia, he dropped the bomb that he and Noriko had spent a night together. Things had gotten really heated after that, and Noriko showing up at the perfect time made things worse. Words were said, blows were thrown(at David), and as if having more problems with his girlfriend because of words despite them "working on things" just before wasn't bad enough...two days later Cyclops got killed. That was like a punch in the gut, and while it didn't hit as hard as when his family got killed when he was younger, Scott Summers was family in a way. It was more than that though. The guy was planned for everything, and had stared down world enders and giant robots and everything else the world could throw at him. And then he gets killed by a poison dart? It was so absurd; so unthinkable that it took a while for it to sink in, and when it did, it made him wonder just who was capable of taking down Cyclops of all people, and if others were next. It was all so much to think about and deal with; confusion and morning and this and that and the other thing all at once. He just wanted to not think on it for a while, so after checking in the mirror, he got a few ideas for what to do with the masses of still virgin skin on his body. He had plenty of tattoos, but a lot of them were gang related, and the others were personal. The new one(s) probably would be too, but he just wanted some new ones. It would be something to take his mind off of things at least, so he hopped in his car and drove to Mutant Town. He'd been to Skinful Impressions once or twice since coming to the mansion, but hadn't been in some time. But they did good work and had openly mutant workers and customers so he got to see some really interesting stuff due to powers helping the artists and unique mutations doubling as cool canvases. When he walked in, he said hello to the people he knew by name and face, then sat down and waited for his appointment. |

"Alright Mel, I gotta take a break," Lisa, the tattoo artist, said from where she sat alongside Songbird. She turned on her stool and setting her tattoo gun off to the side, then turned back to Melissa and washed her stomach off with sterile water and a cloth. "There. Give me like twenty minutes to eat something and get a smoke, then we can finish." "Why so long?" Songbird asked jokingly, getting up out of the reclined chair and walking to a nearby mirror in order to examine herself. Lisa stopped and turned to throw a non-serious glare back towards Melissa, then walked towards the front door of the shop in order to walk to a nearby sandwich shop. "She's a machine, eh?" Sam, one of the artists sitting at the front desk asked as Lisa passed by. "You have no idea," Lisa said with a huff, glancing at Rho as she passed by. "She okay?" Melissa asked as she walked in from the back of the shop, still working on buttoning her shorts. It was just a bit tender in the belt line area now. She threw a glance towards Rho and then took a seat on a stool that was next to the register, obviously comfortable enough with the employees here to lounge around. Over the past few weeks, she had been a regular. "Yea Mel, you know how she gets when she is hungry. You two have been back there since ten though, so I can't blame her," Sam said. "Not everyone will sit in that chair for that long, getting inked where you are... I sure as hell wouldn't." He looked over at Rho. "I haven't forgotten about you, man. Let me go see where Tia is and see if she is ready for you." Sam got up from where he was sitting and squeezed Melissa on the hip, causing her to jump, and she gave him a little shove just before he disappeared into the back. Once he was gone, Melissa glanced at Rho and then moved her eyes down to the counter, idly opening a magazine that was laying there and flipping through it. If Rho took notice, Melissa was dressed for warmer weather. Despite the fact that it was still chilly out, she was wearing jean short-shorts, a black tank top that didn't do a great job at covering her mid drift, and she also wore some black Chuck Taylors. It might have been obvious that she was wearing this to facilitate the tattooing more than the weather... which could also indicate that she didn't live far from here. Crossing one leg over the other, the stool creaked, making her notice how quiet it had gotten. The only other sound in the place was the radio in the back and the gentle hum of a few tattoo guns at work. Everyone seemed to be working or taking a break, leaving her alone with Rho in the front. Melissa glanced up from the magazine towards Rho and smiled, then looked towards the back. Sam was no where in sight. She looked back down to her magazine for a moment and then looked to Rho again. "I'm guessing this isn't your first one, huh?" |

The place was big, but not overly so, and from where he was sitting he could hear the constant buzz of the tattoo guns, and the slight grunts from some of the people who could hold the pain in or ignore it like veterans like himself. And like a person who'd been trained to react to a slight change in the environment, his head turned towards the back when it sounded like one less gun was running. He glanced up from his phone as footsteps headed toward the front, and he offered a nod and small smile at the artist probably going out to take a smoke break or something. People who didn't get a lot of ink didn't realize that the process of creating a tattoo was just as difficult as sitting there and getting it done. They needed breaks too, and while he knew the ladies face, her name escaped him. The convo between her and Sam didn't escape him though, and his head turned toward the back to see who they were talking about. Apparently it was the drop dead gorgeous girl with the pink hair and plethora of ink walking up and talking to Sam. He could see the red and puffy skin on her stomach as she buttoned up her shorts like it was no big thing. He was polite, but he was still a guy and it was hard not to look. When she glanced at him, he grinned a bit and nodded once again; a simple enough greeting. She and Sam continued talking after his silent hello, and he figured from the shortening that he name was Melissa, or something close. He inwardly winced as Sam said she'd been in the chair since 10am. Five hours in only one session, and in such a sensitive spot? He didn't think any of his had ever taken that long, and while he figured he probably could take it, he wasn't sure he wanted to. He gave a small, yet enthusiastic thumbs up when Sam said he hadn't been forgotten and he'd see if Tia, the woman who'd done one of his tats last time was ready. "Good lookin out, my dude. Been lookin' forward to this for a while. Take my mind off some things." He chuckled lightly as Sam's playful touch caused Mel to jump, but played it off as best he could. As Sam walked off, he couldn't help checking Mel out a bit. She was pretty, had good taste in tats, and her outfit was pretty alluring. He played it cool and smiled back at her when she gave him one, then looked down to his phone and back up again when he sensed her eyes on him once more. When she spoke to him, he grinned a little more and while not trying to show off, did a bit when he removed his vest and shirt; in truth it was a lot easier to phase clothes on and off than the normal way. He simply grabbed his collar and phased both of them off, dropping them in the chair next to him. In a form fitting tank top, many of his tats were displayed, including the one that hurt the most physically, mentally, and spiritually, the one tracing his collar bone that read "Gone but Not Forgotten", in remembrance of his family. "Good guess, Mel," he said as he moved his arms about and let her see all the(mostly gang) tattoos he possessed. "I see you're a regular too. You look great; your ink I mean. Not that you don't look good too; ya know what?" He decided to change the subject before he put more of his foot in his mouth, and also tried to remember the last time he'd been this awkward around anyone. Everything happening at once must have taken more of a toll on him than he thought. "I'm Dontae by the way, pleasure to meet you," he said as he stood up, walked over, and held his hand out. |

Mel watched with interest as Dontae removed his vest and shirt in a rather interesting way. If this wasn't Mutant Town and she wasn't used to the strange and unusual happening around her, she might have raised a brow at him. Instead she gave him a smile, partially hidden behind the blond and pink hair that fell alongside of her face, and began nodding to the song that came on in the back as she looked at the tattoos that he showed off. The song was "Ball" by T.I. She turned on the stool as he approached, sliding off of it and into a standing position. Her midsection hurt like a motherfucker, but she didn't show it on her face, despite the cherry red skin that went along her belt line and up her right side, disappearing under her tank top. Taking a step or two towards Rho, she was about eye level with his chin, able to look at the words that ran across his collar easily. Her smile brightened a bit at his compliments, but she probably didn't help him in his awkward feeling when she didn't answer immediately. Instead, she looked at his arms and unlike some, immediately recognized the gang tattoos. She used to have one integrated into the sleeve on her right arm, but she had it covered and concealed recently. Now, she couldn't tell where he was from or what gang exactly it was, but she knew gang signs when she saw them. When he extended his hand to her, she reached out and gave it a quick shake. "Melissa," she answered. "Melissa Gold. I bet that one was tough," she said, reaching up to his collar and touching Dontae on the words of remembrance that was on his collar. "I am sure the meaning behind it hurt about as much as getting the ink did." She reached up and ran her hands along either side of her neck, pulling back the long blond hair that had been hanging over her shoulders in order to completely expose the wording that ran from shoulder to shoulder along her own collar. It said, "The night is darkest before the dawn." Like Rho's, it held quite a bit of meaning for her. Mel also lifted her chin a bit, showing the all seeing eye and the wings that were on her throat. They too had meaning. Being the most important part of her anatomy, she felt the need to adorn it with something special. "I like to remember things," Mel said, then motioned to the fresh tattoo on her stomach. Lifting her shirt slightly, she showed what had been done so far. The tattoo that had taken five hours thus far was a intricate portrait of what looked to be an angel. The outlining was done already, it just needed to be filled in. "I just have a lot to remember I guess," she grinned. "So Dontae," Songbird continued, turning from him and walking back to the stool, where she winced slightly as she slid back up onto it. "Couldn't help but notice you were a mutant there." |

He was a big fan of TI, and along with Mel he started bobbing his head with the music. Ball wasn't the best song the King had ever made in his opinion, but he still bumped it in his car every now and then. He was surprised this woman wasn't showing any signs of pain or discomfort, because her still freshly inked skin was red, puffy, and clearly irritated. Again he thought she was a real avid fan of the world of tattoos to go through that without even showing outward pain; even the smallest grunt or facial twitch. The good news though was he got her to smile; girls loved a guy who could make them smile, but it got a bit less than normal when she didn't answer him right away. But she accepted his hand and introduced herself as Melissa Gold. "Dontae King," he thought of kissing the back of her hand but in this day and age that would probably be seen as weird, and come off as trying to hard. They were in a tattoo parlor after all. He almost stiffened when her hand touched his collar bone and the words permanently bonded to it, but her hand was soft and he'd be laughing at himself later if he acted like a nervous preteen anymore than he already had. He breathed softly as her finger traced the words. He gulped and nodded his head slightly when she correctly guessed that the pain of the event that led to the tattoo was as and truthfully a lot more painful than the feeling of the gun piercing into his skin over and over again. "You're right. Hurt more actually. I might tell you about it sometime," he said with a ghost of a half-grin. It would always be a painful subject, but he could talk about his family now without tears, and by speaking about them, he kept their memories alive and let people know what wonderful folks they'd been. But that was of course only if they did see each other again after this seemingly random meeting. He watched as she displayed some of her own work; marveling at the time and dedication it took to get them; not only that, but the skill and detail of the work. He followed her lead and traced a few of the tattoos, but was careful not to invade her personal space too much. He nodded with her and looked down when she showed her stomach. "Yeah, if we don't remember...usually no one else will. And same here. And from the looks of things, we both got a lot more to remember than people would expect." Watching her get back on the stool and laughing inside that she finally showed that the tat did at least bother her, he raised an eyebrow as she brought up his little display earlier. "Oh, so you noticed? I thought it was just my rugged good looks and winning personality that got your attention," he said playfully. "But yeah, I've got the X in my blood. My thing is density manipulation. Phase through walls, get stronger and tougher, hover...fly; I can even make other stuff lighter or heavier." He gestured to a chair and lowered the density to a point that it began to float above the others, held carefully in place by his will. Then he lowered it and put his foot up like he was stepping up on a stair or something, then pushed into the air and hovered there. He then sat cross legged in the air, eye to eye with Melissa. "So Ms. Gold, you already seem like a really cool and interesting woman. But I'm guessing you're more than meets the eye too?" She was already pretty high up as far as first impressions went, but he was sure she had more to show. He knew Tommy and Pietro's mutations turned their hair white, while Megan's made hers pink. Maybe Melissa's was similar in some way? |

Perched on the stool, Melissa watched with interest as Rho spoke and began to explain and display his mutant powers. He levitated a stool and she poked out her bottom lip slightly, nodding at it in acknowledgement. She leaned to her left, putting an elbow onto the counter next to her, watching as he pushed off and floated into the air, hovering in front of her cross legged. "You could say that," Melissa answered him, not surprised at the his hovering. That was a bit strange to her more than the actual act of flying... the fact that she had gotten so used to the abnormalities that have become normal every day things. It was nothing to see Alix and Riva levitate things with their abilities, so the stool could have been passed off as telekinesis. But density was pretty cool, she had to admit. She hadn't heard of that one before. Another thing she noticed was that he was pretty well trained and confident with his ability. That could have come from many things, such as SHIELD or one of the other groups around. Brotherhood, perhaps, but basing it just on a first impression he was too nice for that. The thing he said, "X in his blood," stuck out though. So perhaps he was X-factor or he was like Robbie, from the school. But instead of just throwing out guesses, she'd just clue him in on who she was and perhaps he would fill in the blanks. "They call me Songbird... for reasons. I work down the road at Brownstone with X-investigations," Melissa said, shrugging. "Haven't really worked on anything big I guess. But that's where I work. As far as being a mutant goes yea, I'm more than meets the eye," with a smile, she raised a hand up to her throat where the all seeing eye and wings were tattooed. "I can make some special things happen with this." Melissa's lips opened just a sliver and she exhaled, making a sound that would be inaudible to most. This was enough for her solid sound ability to take shape, however, and she appeared to exhale a pink smoke. Raising both hands up, she traced a heart in the air, causing the "smoke" to follow her fingers and form the shape in the air. She then willed it towards Rho, the heart moving silently along by an unseen force. Then Songbird snapped her finger and the heart exploded with a loud noise that shook the room, though it was not as loud as a gunshot. The sound was very well controlled, and while Rho would hear it, it wouldn't be something that harmed his ears. "And I can scream so loud that you'd probably die," Mel said, rolling her eyes away from Rho innocently and leaning back on the stool. "But I wouldn't do that. I prefer to sing and make pretty shapes and such." Okay, that was a lie. But Rho wouldn't know that. In truth, Melissa Gold had revenge on her mind for quite some time and she longed to use her ability to destroy a certain feral and a six armed woman. And really, she couldn't see herself going easy on any criminal from here on out. But Rho didn't really have anything to worry about from her. |

In response to him asking if she herself was a mutant, she nonchalantly told him yes, and that was great. He always enjoyed meeting cool new people, and if they had cool powers to show off, even better. "Songbird?," he echoed, trying it out after she told him her codename that their kind were so fond of; some didn't even answer to anything but their chosen mutant name anymore, and he figured he was called Rho more than Dontae on a regular basis. "Beautiful name for a beautiful lady," he said with a small flirty grin that was probably more leading on than he meant to be. Even though...back on topic. "Sometimes they call me Rho; it's not as cool as Songbird but it gets me by." When she said she worked at the Brownstone, his head instinctively turned in that direction, as he knew the place fairly well. "Oh yeah? They showed me how to get to Xavier's after I drove up here from Detroit. Cajun chick...Riva somethin' ; bright red hair...and a cat. An evil cat." An eyebrow of his raised when Melissa's hand went to her intricately inked throat and said it was that that was the source of her powers. Was she a screamer like Terry and her dad? "Color me intrigued," he said playfully as he waited for her to demonstrate what she could do while slightly bobbing up and down in the air. And not one to disappoint, she blew pink smoke from her mouth, drew it into a heart, and pushed it toward him with her mind. Maybe he'd put too much hope that the heart would tap his cheek or something, but he certainly hadn't expected a simple snap to make it explode. It was like...visible sound. The explosion was startling and loud, loud enough to shake the room and almost make him fall from the air. Instead he flailed in the air and turned it into a backflip before righting himself and exhaling quickly. He grinned at how casually she mentioned she could scream loud enough to kill him. "I've got a friend who can do that, and I'm glad you like me enough to not yell my brains out. I call it progress and a good first impression. And not to sound too forward or anything, but I'd like to hear you sing sometime. I bet you sound great." While floating, he had another idea and stretched his legs out to stand back on the floor. "You ever walked through a wall, Melissa? It feels like a rollercoaster drop the first time, but it saves a helluva lotta time." Holding his hand out to her from the other side of the desk, he waited for her to take it. |

Rho's flirtations did not go unnoticed, but Songbird responded to them simply by smiling and looking away. Not that she didn't appreciate the compliments, but she really didn't know what to say back to them. Mel looked back to him when he started talking about his own codename and Xavier's. Her eyes even seemed to light up a bit at the mention of Riva and a teammate that could do something similar to what she could do. "That's my roomie," Mel said with a grin. "Well, when she stays at Brownstone anyways. She's got a boyfriend and all that... but... You say you got a friend who can scream like me?" Interesting. She always figured that there were others that had similar abilities to the ones she had, but she had never met them. Maybe she'd have to go pay this Xavier place a visit at some point soon, whether through Roberto or Rho. Raising a hand to her chin, she thought about it for a moment, but seemed to snap out of it when Dontae offered his hand to her. "I have teleported before, if it is anything like that," Mel said, looking to him curiously for a moment. She slipped off of the stool again, reaching out and taking Rho by the hand. This was another thing she loved about Mutant Town. Experiencing other people's abilities. Usually she wouldn't be so trustworthy of a person she just met, but Rho dropped enough names for her to feel comfortable with it. Taking his hand, she walked towards the wall that was behind the counter of the shop and stopped there for a moment. "You aren't going to trick me and make me walk face first into a wall are you?" she asked with a grin, but then she reached out towards the wall and her arm passed through it. Eyes widening slightly, she laughed and then pulled Rho forward and they went through the wall... and directly into the men's room. Sam was standing there with his back to them, taking a piss in the urinal, and he was finishing up his business about the time they came through. Zipping up, he turned around and nearly fell down when he saw the two of them standing there. "Holy shit!" Sam exclaimed, catching himself on the wall behind him. "Jesus christ, doesn't anyone knock?" Melissa released Rho's hand and raised both hands to cover her mouth, laughing. Turning towards Rho she shook her head at him and said, "I had no idea the bathroom was on the other side, I swear." |

Well he wasn't quite sure what Melissa thought of him. He'd flirted with her yes, but her response wasn't as clear cut as all that. She didn't shoot him down, but aside from a smile, she didn't seem to acknowledge that that was what he was even doing. Did she know? Was she ignoring it? He couldn't tell, but he'd come here to have a good time, so he wouldn't let himself get down if she'd decided he wasn't worth the time or something; plus he couldn't just change his behavior now. "Your roomie, huh?", he asked after she revealed to him that she and Riva lived together when she wasn't with her boyfriend. "And yeah, her name's Terry but her codename is Siryn. She's got a pretty good set of lungs on her too. I think you'd like her." He shook his head from side to side when she compared it to teleporting. "A bit, but not so much that you can get em' confused. This is more fun than teleporting anyway in my opinion...guess I'm biased though." But she took his hand, so it was time to show off a bit more. Her hand felt nice he noticed. He and Surge never held hands much, and when they did, he felt her gauntlet, not her hand. That wasn't fair to her of course but he couldn't help but make the comparison at the base level. Right before she tried to pass through the wall she'd led him to, she asked if he was going to let her smack into the wall. "Y'know, that'd be funny as all hell and I could...but I'm not that type of guy. Well not for first impressions anyway." He almost said first date, but again he caught himself. Her laugh caught on and he chuckled a bit and followed behind her through into the next room. It was the guys bathroom, and Sam was pissing, and unaware that both Dontae and Melissa were just a few feet behind him. He finished, turned around, and BAM!, there they were. His reaction and the "Holy Shit" that followed were enough to bring Dontae nearly to tears, and he was doubled over in laughter when Mel tried to explain. Just grinning at Mel, his shoulders kept shaking before he turned back to Sam. "You...you still gotta wash your hands, hahahah!!" |

“Yea yea, laugh it up,” Sam said, shaking his head as he walked to the sink to wash his hands. Melissa reached up and gave Rho a nudge towards the door and then proceeded out of the bathroom, still with a smile on her face. The experience of moving through a wall was similar to what Rho had said it would be. It was floaty and felt strange. However, coming through into a bathroom and catching Sam pissing had made her forget about it rather quickly. Luckily they hadn't come through on the urinal side of the wall... that would have been tragic. Once they stepped out of the bathroom, they were out in the work area where each tattoo artist had their own chair and work station set up. Tia, who was supposed to be working on Rho, was sitting there playing on her phone. The woman looked up at them as they came out of the men's room and raised a brow, but quickly remembered that she was supposed to be doing something. “Rho, good to see you again,” she said, motioning at him to come over to a drawing area that she had set up. “What are you thinking about this time?” Lisa came back in at the same time and walked in, spotting Mel. As Rho would go do his thing with Tia, Melissa went with Lisa to continue getting her work done. Luckily, Tia and Lisa's work areas were right next to each other. It was a very open place, with only a couple of private areas set up for the more private tattoos or piercings. Sliding back onto the table, Melissa unbuttoned her shorts and slid them down just enough for Lisa to continue working on the tattoo along her waist line. Laying flat on a table, she turned her head and watched and listened to what Rho was doing. Once he was settled in Tia's chair, however long that took, she attempted to continue a conversation with him over the buzz of the tattoo guns. “Seems like there are a lot of people at the school that I'd like to meet,” Melissa said, pausing as a bit of pain shot through her body. She didn't allow herself to wince though. “That girl you mentioned... Terry.. Siryn? Sounds like there might be something I could learn from her. Do ya'll have some kind of policy on visitors or anything? I don't think I could join... or would join... but I'd like to see what Xavier's is all about. And any new friends and training I could pick up along the way would be cool too.” |

Even though Sam was obviously being sarcastic, he and Mel had a good laugh anyway, and he left the bathroom with her, still wiping tears from his eyes. He hadn't had a good laugh like that in a while, and it'd been sorely needed. They left Sam to wash up and went out into the work area and he waved to Tia. He heard Angry Birds on her phone, which painted a picture of how she liked to spend her time when she wasn't actually stabbing people with ink blots. She said hey and he nodded at her. "Hey Tia, you too." Going over to the multitude of drawings and sketches she had, he looked them over and chose one from hers, while he already had two of his own in mind. "Uh, okay. I got it. Right shoulder, symbol for Anarchy. Left, symbol for Order, and on my chest," he pointed to the area of his right pectoral to emphasize where he meant. "Here, I want that saying in Latin, on a piece of parchment or somethin'." It was all well within Tia's capabilities, and while it would take a bit, it would be worth it when she was finished. They even discussed the colors he wanted and when everything was ready, he took off his tank top and lay on his back in her chair. He watched as she got all the ink she'd need, put a sterilized tip on the gun, and got it going. He took a breath and braced since he hadn't felt the unique irritating pain of a tattoo in quite some time. He'd probably have to get used to it again. His face clenched for a moment before he got used to the sensation again, then he turned over to Mel and made sure that he kept his eyes above the belt for the most part after he got a look at the tattoo getting worked on. She expressed some interest in meeting his friends and some of the other people at the school. He shrugged his shoulders as much as he could without disturbing Tia's work. "Yeah, I've seen Terry do some crazy stuff with that voice of hers. She could definitely help you out. You could probably do the same for her too from what you showed me earlier." She asked about visitor policies, and he thought about the ones they did have, but she worked for XFI. "Ummm, policy is that we can have visitors I guess, heh. You work with Madrox and those guys though, so probably just visit. Shouldn't be any problems. Especially if you come with me. As for the Xavier experience, I'm sure our people'll be just as happy to show you what we're about as you are to learn." He grinned and wondered if they could show her the Danger Room. Maybe go on a mission together. "And we could teach you some things, yeah. Just stay away from Logan. Just...just trust me on that one." |
