Like most truckers, he usually doesn’t take the time to run a comb through his hair. It naturally gets wavy and frizzled as shown above. He doesn’t shave, but he will take the time to trim his beard to keep it from getting to ZZ Top proportions.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Buford has an intiutive understanding of machinery. He is able to discern function from form. With this, he is able to discern immediately the capabilities, inefficiancies and defects of any piece of machinery. With such powers, this makes Buford extremely capable as a pilot, driver and mechanic. He can, within a second of seeing an vehicle, figure out how to operate it to the best of its physical limits. Buford's complete trust in his powers allows him to pull off stunts in a car or a truck that would make a lesser H. Sapien blanche.

With his powers, Buford is also a very capable engineer, using his powers in a process that he calls iterative design. He first makes a very crude machine that may not even work. But once the machine is completed, his powers can see where he went wrong in his design, and then he can use his mechanical know-how to make the next generation of the machine. With this process, he can very quickly create almost any machine that he may need. He can create very complex machinery within 24 or 48 hours using this process.

WEAKNESS:

While his powers allow him to expertly use computers, and fix their hardware, he has problems when trying to code, and using the internet. By problems, it is meant, that he’ll develop a headache, and if he continuously uses the internet for a period of more than an hour or so, he’ll black out. Frankly, the machine in this instance is just too big. Too many interlocking parts and concepts. He prefers to leave anything dealing with computer software with a more experienced technopath.

His powers seem to be nullified if he has ingested large amounts of alcohol. Basically, he can’t drink and drive. However, since he’s never tried to fix anything while drunk, it is unknown whether his powers are actually affected or if his body’s innate ability to drive is simply hampered by his drunken coordination and reflexes.

When using iterative design, he will usually come to a very efficient machine for his purpose, but there is not a guarantee that his machine will be the most efficient. His final product might be the local maximum in efficiency for the machine, but there might be a novel approach that he never approached. It might be best explained in using a metaphor. His iterative design will always take his machine to the peak of the mountain, but there's no guarantee that he will start on the mountain with the highest peak. And since to get to that mountain, he'd have to head down the mountain, his powers will be fighting him the entire way. This means other inventors like Box or Forge who's powers are more oriented in invention can create machines that will outdo him. It also means that he can have troubles if he wants to completely redo a project.

He's also a man in his early fifties with a beer gut and a paranoia streak a mile wide. Chances are that he'll die of hypertension if SHIELD doesn't get him. He's also just starting to slow down physically. Wear and tear on his parts.

Once upon a time, Buford was a real mensch. Outgoing, gregarious and easy to talk to, he made friends easily. He was, perhaps, a little too ribald for some people's tastes, but he usually made up for it in volume. He was the kind of person that could walk into a room and demand attention, due to both stature and personality.

Buford would like to say that he's still that kind of person, but to be honest? He had a lot of responsibility thrust upon him. Never in a millenium would he think that he was going to be a leader of a terrorist cell or build his own country. Since he had to do that, he has to grow up some. He's now very concerned with “operational security.” He does not like the idea of any sort of leak, let it be physical or intellectual. Anything he's built, from the Brotherhood to his own truck, he now expects to be perfect, to be up to his exacting specifications. The destruction of his masterpiece, Sanctuary, has hit him hard.

As for his goals, it would be easy enough to say that Buford's goal were the Brotherhood's goals, and that would be enough. And that's not wrong. But Buford never has sought or expected some sort of H. Sapiens genocide. He fully expects that history will record him, Magneto, and the rest of the Brotherhood as the bad guys. The Brotherhood is a necessary evil, to protect the fledgling mutant species. His actions are sad but absolutely necessary. He expects that one day, a mutant leader will sit down with a human leader and negotiate, something that the Brotherhood could never do. All he wants to do is make sure that the mutant leader is negotiating from a place of strength.

Buford was born in small town, population about seventy five hundred, in Arkansas in 1961. He was the Hollis’ first child, and it was not an easy birth. The town doctor didn’t think that the facilities in Clarksville were adequate for the birth. So, Sharon’s pa, Jackson Griffith, who at one time had a car dealership, spent the last bit of money he had to get his daughter into a hospital in Fort Smith, two counties over.

His father was a mill worker. After Buford was born, he got promoted to a supervisor position. The increased salary helped, since two years later, Sharon was pregnant again, and, again it was difficult pregnancy. Due to complications of this second birth, Sharon developed chronic pain problems. Buford was aware of his mama’s suffering, and tried to do his best to please his mama. He was a popular kid in town, and was a good student. In high school, he was a wide receiver in the fall, a wrestler in the winter, and he would be in the school play in the spring. In his own words, “Is it my fault that I got a natural baritone singin’ voice? My mama always liked ta hear me sing. Plus, it helped me tag a few artsy chicks, too.”

When he was 13, right around the time boys in small towns learn how to drive, his grandfather showed him the last remnant of wealth that he possessed. A 1950 Cadillac series 61 Sedan. When his grandfather handed him the keys for their first lesson, Buford put the sucker into drive, and never looked back. His granddaddy was amazed at the kid. The boy, unlike some other boys his age, never was particularly interested in cars. But, it seemed that Buford knew more about driving than his granddaddy. Jackson Griffith told his daughter that Buford didn’t need any more lessons.

After graduating High School, Buford was disappointed that there wasn’t money or scholarship for him to go to college. About two months after graduation, he and a couple of buddies were in Fayetteville, ostensibly to see a concert. In actuality, they were planning to drive into Kansas, where they could legally purchase some beer. While in Fayetteville, they were approached by a military recruiter. Buford took a pamphlet and talked it over with his parents. He entered the Army, and was stationed Fort McPherson in Georgia.

One day, walking by a tank, Buford correctly diagnosed a problem in one of its motors, and after explaining it to his C.O, fixed it.

After a single four year tour in the Army, Buford, who had slowly but surely had realized his powers, left the army. He designed for his own personal use an electronic shock generator, an early generation TASER is you would. Needing a job, he used his savings and took out a loan to buy a Peterbilt truck, and become an Owner-Operator truck driver. His Tractor was painted and christened “Big Pig” and his CB handle became Razorback.

He spent the next ten years, making his way in the world as a cross-country O-O truck driver. Trucking doesn’t really have a career path. There isn’t a superior position available, and there ain’t a gold watch at the end. It’s a nomadic lifestyle, and Buford didn’t keep a permanent address, he slept out of his truck. He kept a P.O Box in Little Rock.

When he was 35 years old, when he was checking his mail in Little Rock, he got a letter, telling him to come home, family emergency. He got home to his momma in tears. As it turned out, his sister Melanie had moved to New York City about a year before, to try to become an author. (To give Buford credit, he did vaguely remember hearing this.) The family had received regular letters from Melanie. The letters mentioned several times a Mr. Donald Hopper, who it seemed to have become a mentor of Melanie. The Hollises became concerned when they had read a TIME article about Mr. Hopper and his controversial spiritual teachings. They begged their son to go to New York and “rescue” her from Hopper’s cult.

While in New York, Buford was contacted by a professor, Charles Xavier, who told him the secret behind Buford mechanical skill and genius. Buford told Xavier to shove it, he was here to save his sister’s soul, and then get back to work. Xavier helped Buford by helping him locate the secretive cult’s hiding place, but after Buford took his sister home, he swore he’d have nothing to do with that crippled crackpot.

Two years ago, he decided that being an Owner-Operator was for the birds. He wanted some benefits, and some stability. He applied with a couple companies. When he applied at Schneider National, he ran into an old army buddy, his C.O, Chuck Schneider. Chuck gave the solider thing a couple turns, including a stint in the Pentagon, as an aide to a General. But, Chuck went back to his family’s company, help run things. Buford was pleased as pie. Chuck may not have been the person directly in charge of hiring new drivers, but Chuck was the guy who could fire that guy. Being buddies with Chuck seemed to be a good position to have.

But when Chuck was in the army, he had to help prep a document concerning the Mutant population and its benefits to the military. He had come across a list of mutants who had experience in military matters. Chuck was shocked to see that Buford was on that list. As it happened, after SFC Schneider had reported the incident with the tank to his superior, Major Briggs, Briggs had taken a hair from PFC Hollis’ bed and had it tested. Hollis was X-Gene positive.

Schneider wasn’t willing to hire a mutant, and he made sure word got out to other major trucking companies that Hollis was a mutant. He did leave out that Hollis’ abilities were uniquely suited to being a trucker. Hollis couldn’t get a job. More than a little bitter, he decided that the time for cooperation between man and mutant was over. He decided he needed to get on the radical side of the mutant equation, and as a result, he took to trying to get the Brotherhood’s attention.

He snuck himself onto a shipyard in Mississippi. This particular shipyard was working on a DD-X Zumwalt Class Destroyer. He activated the experimental ship, and took her out to sea, and sunk her. The cost of that ship was 2.4 billion dollars. The Navy has no evidence linking Hollis to the destruction of the ship. The public story was that the ship had suffered damages under Hurricane Katrina which were just now being assessed, and it had to be destroyed.

Hollis was contacted by a Brotherhood member, and upon proof of his deed, he was inducted into the Brotherhood.

He’s participated in several Brotherhood missions, including Wolf’s Head, the Train Robbery, the assassination of Deval Pfister, and the attempted assassination of the Genoshan Genengineer.

DURING APOCALYPSE (April 7th through April 12th, 2009) Buford was there when Amelia Voght was taken by the Shadow King, and when she absconded to the Apocalypse though he had very little idea of what was going on. When the Horsemen rode, Buford was part of the strike team that went after Amelia-cum-Pestilence. Buford took over a Abrams tank to fight Pestilence, but the tank was no match for her misty form, and Buford was made a convert by Pestilence. Buford was defeated by Rictor and was bound by him. Teleported back to the Xavier Mansion, Razorback was healed, but was unable to take part in the final fight against the Apocalypse. After the Apocalypse, Buford was made the cell leader for the Manhattan cell of the Brotherhood, and was given free reign to modify Murderworld as he saw fit.

POST-APOCALYPSE
Buford was the lead engineer for the design and construction of Magneto's Sanctuary. This meant that Buford had to pull many long days and nights working almost exclusively on the Sanctuary. He still had the occasional Brotherhood mission. This includeda raid on a Taliban compound where the Brotherhood killed Osama Bin Laden, after reports of Taliban fighters attacking and killing mutant children in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

After the Brotherhood retreated to Sanctuary, Buford was made an Acolyte, one of Magneto's direct lieutenants.

During WwX, Buford didn't have to deal with his counterpart directly, though he was part of the final confrontation against Onslaught. In the dreamscape, Buford was able to conjure up a space shuttle and used it as a kamikaze rocket against Onslaught.

PURIFIERS
Since Buford had built an impregnable fortress the size of Rhode Island with the express purpose of keeping out bigoted Homo Sapiens, he didn't really have to deal with the Purifiers. However, when the Purifiers attacked the school, they invoked the wrath of Razorback and the rest of the Brotherhood. Buford does not take the slaughter of mutant children well, which several Purifiers learned very quickly.

SKRULLS
Buford was once on the Skrull's list as a possible candidate for replacement, but concerns for containing him along with his relative isolation, deep beneath the sea, kept him off the list. As Sanctuary was relatively undisturbed by the Skrull invasion, and due to the fact that Buford was becoming more and more focused on the running of Sanctuary, Razorback didn't take part in the Skrull explusion.

CURRENT HISTORY (Illuminati/Phoenix SiteWide)
Buford could see the writing on the wall. Exodus, despite everything he wanted to claim, wanted to break continuity from Magneto, including his top lieutenants. As Exodus took over the Brotherhood, Buford abandoned Sanctuary, mainly because he genuinely thought that Exodus might kill him. Since the downfall of Exodus and Sanctuary, Buford has been lying low, living out of the Big Pig.

He coughed and snorted a bit, trying to clear out some phlegm from his throat. He wrestled something out of the breast pocket of his shirt. Normally, it would be his Marlboro's, but now that he was an Acolyte, and that they were in the domed city, Buford thought it would be a bad example. There were high excise taxes on cigarettes. He didn't want to force people to quit smoking. But he could definitely try to make it so that they didn't want to smoke. He didn't really like the idea of having that many carcinogens floating around in the recycled air filters.

He took out a pack of gum. He pulled out one, and begin chewing a nice piece of cinnamon. It wasn't tobacco, didn't really compare, but at the very least, it felt similar.

"No, no, Mystique, I think you misunderstand me. I'm sure that Amelia could handle thehumans coming after her, but if the sapes tell the world who Pestilence was..."

"Well, if you go south on 7th avenue out to the suburbs, there's a neighborhood filled with people from India. Mutants, some with dangerous powers. A lot of people from India, Pakistan, China, they got reason to have grudges against Pestilence."

"I mean, let's be honest, you think everyone beneath that dome in New York only has happy feelings towards War?" Buford continued, "I'm worried what happens in here if the information about Pestilence breaks down. It ain't the humans I'm worried about fighting back, Mystique."

Good to see Buford back. A few parts of the history are pretty light, but they do the job of explaining what Buford has been up to. Another mod may ask you to make changes that I have not, but I'll give you a stamp.
