Reality Warping
|
June 20 - 8pm (dusk) So. They were pretty much on lockdown while they figured all this mess out. Well, not really locked down because when they had to, they went out and saved lives and stopped disasters, like they were supposed to be... But when they were on duty, they were confined to the helicarrier because there was a crazy spider armed lady siccing the populace on them. Simon, who had only been a super human for a relatively short time wondered how those who'd been born this way existed, sometimes. But, time passed quickly because even if there was little to do, Wanda was there and Wanda was something that made the rest of this worth it. So, Simon Williams, who had been finally officially codenamed Wonderman, had thought long and hard about what he wanted to do... He entered her rooms with the merest knock on the door, because he had a standing invite... just as she did to his room. "Hey, Wandy," he said, his spirits lifting the way they always did when he saw her. "Whatcha up to?" Wanda looked away from the floating globe, a smile brightening her face as she turned her head to her visitor. "Our dour leader has tasked me with finding his taken reality warper. Set a fox to catch a fox," that wasn't quite the right turn of phrase but it would do. She and the globe floated in a field of scarlet. Her long fingers stretched over the papery surface of the globe she'd had Tommy dig up for her, then he'd zipped away to find his dinner. "Instead of searching the world below, which would be hard on my feet, unlike dear Pietro, I feel every mile walked," she shifted her hands over the surface, "I search here, which is just as good." It was akin to making a voodoo doll of the planet, what she did to it was mirrored in the world. Something that she was fairly certain Doctor Strange would not approve of. She released the globe and let it float freely. "But the world can wait," she announced and held out both hands to Simon, tilting her face toward him for a kiss. "My Simon," she smiled and wound her arms around his neck. "Any luck?" he asked, as she reached for him and turned her face for a kiss. He did not make her wait long, as he took her hands and pulled her close. Her lips tasted faintly of red wine, though he knew she was no drinker. Every kiss was something new, and something pleasant that called up memories that she may or may not know. He had had red wine before the first time he asked her on an official date, because she was so perfect and he was so not. He needed a little dutch courage, as his father had always called it. "Let's go for a walk," he said, cocking his head towards the door. "You got time?" "Always," she said as her let her feet touch the floor. She kept one of his hands, her fingers sliding between his. There were few people in the world she truly noticed among the cacophony of reality, fewer still she took time to be with - her family by blood and Simon, they topped the list. He was a good person, a kind and sweet soul, far better than her, she knew, and being with him, goodness radiated from him; he didn't know. If he had, that might have tainted it, like a beautiful woman who knows just how beautiful she is and couldn't resist crooking her finger toward the men. She leaned her head on Simon's shoulder as they strolled down the ship corridors. "I wish that these villains would be caught soon," Wanda grumbled. "I do not like not being able to roam." She paused to look out a thick window, seeing herself reflected in the glass and a thick layer of clouds below them. "I do like flying," she admitted. "I used to fly much," she glanced at Simon to read his thoughts in the lines of his face. "I created a flying broom. I wonder where it has gone," she added dreamily. "Pietro did not like it much. Called it dangerous. And gave me a rug to magic into flight instead." She smiled as her mind replayed the memory. "Well, there's no need for brooms or rugs when I'm around," Simon said, playfully scooping her up into his arms, "You say the word, babydoll, and I'll fly you to Mars if you want." He spun her around, the two of them almost knocking into a passing Shield technician. Simon put her down and said, "Oops, sorry. We've been cooped up too long. We're getting stir crazy." The technician smirked and waved off the apology and Simon laughed. Squeezing Wanda's hand tight, he said, "Come on, let's step outside. We're high enough up that we'll have the deck to ourselves. You ok to do that bubble thing you do so you can breathe?" Simon's arms were as strong as steel but still warm and comforting as they embraced her. Wanda laughed as he set her back on her feet. "I am," she said and with a gesture, warm air crowded around her. "Are there people who live on Mars too?" she wondered as Simon worked the controls to open the door to the outside deck. Empty, as he'd said it would be. "Can you see that far?" "I could see that far if I wanted to," he teased, "But, there's not much to see out there. Buncha red rocks... a few martians too, but it would be rude to stare at them while they're taking their baths." Leading her out onto the deck, Simon pulled her out onto the launch platform, where they could see the city, shining and glimmering in the sunset. "They're still rebuilding in Red Hook. How many times has Mutant Town been rebuilt, do you think?" She laughed, her dark eyes dancing with merriment at his jokes. Following her gaze, she too looked down at the town. "Not once," she told him. "Each time, we are not replacing the old, we are building anew. Perhaps one day our buildings will stand against the monsters and the fires and not fall. What a happy day that would be." "You have such a unique way of looking at the world," Simon told her, "It's a wonderful way, but it's not like anyone's I have ever met. Hang on," he said, and wrapping an arm around her waist, he flew up to the topmost point of the helicarrier, the observation tower. Sitting her down, there, he joined her, enjoying the view from their lofty perch. "That will be a happy day, but it won't be the happiest, I think." Looking out over the water, he said, "What would your perfect day be, Wandy?" She nestled close to him, bathed in the warmth he always exuded. A shy smile played around her lips. "I have had so many perfect days," she said. "The first day we met, was a perfect day. When the boys brought me dinner in the Old City and we talked; that too was perfect. When we had Christmas with the boys in the place of dinosaurs." She wrapped her arms around Simon and held him close. "Every day that I have you, and my family, all well and happy, that is a perfect day. In the end, we have so few that not a one, even the wet and cold days, should be cherished any less." She looked out over the cloud bank and down on the city, shining in the golden rays of the dying sun. "This is a perfect day." "What would your perfect day be?" she tilting her head and looked up at him. Simon opened his hand and showed Wanda the small box he had palmed while she was describing her perfect day in her perfect way. In it was nestled a small ring, not as big as she deserved but the best he could do considering that he didn't really have access to the Williams family money ever since he had walked away from the business in order to whatever it took to make the world better. "I think my perfect day will be the day you tell me you'll be my wife," he smiled, suddenly feeling a bit shy and self depreciating. "I know I should probably ask your father about this, but I don't know that that's possible. I could ask Pietro... but he sort of scares me. I'll do it if you want me to, though, I'll do everything you want. Just say yes, Wanda. I love you. I love your boys. I... can learn to love your brother. Will you marry me, Wandy... will you make this my perfect day?" Her heart leapt, thumping in her chest then she gasped like a fish out of water and her skin paled. She closed Simon's fingers over the precious box. "I... I need to tell you first," she said in a low, breathy voice that only Simon's keen hearing would be able to hear. "I need to tell you things I have never told you before and I... I would understand if you would never want to see me again." She rose to her feet and wandered a few paces away. "I can not look at you, if I do, I will lose my nerve. I was a coward not to tell you long ago, but fear of losing you... of seeing disappointment and hurt in your eyes, I thought it would hurt too much to tell you because... when I say what I have to say, everything will change," she said ominously. His blood ran cold, and this invulnerable man felt as if his heart was about to be ripped out of his chest. "You can tell me anything, Wandy, I can take it. I know you've done things, I know you've seen things... whatever it is we can work it out together." From any other man, such promises would be nothing but empty air, but Simon was an honorable man; when he said something, it was so. She took comfort in that and nodded, though she had little comfort in anything else. Slowly, she turned and held out her hand. "We will need Tommy and Billy also." |

JP the boys Incarceration, that's what the lock down felt like for Tommy Shepherd. He was a speedster, like the cheeter and gazelle if the African Serengeti, he needed wide open spaces to roam at the speeds that he was used to living at. But here aboard the helicarrier at the many thousands of feet above sea level that they were cruising at there was no such freedom. He couldn't even use the deck of the carrier for running what with the lack of oxygen. Instead the junior agent had been restricted to treadmills and eating in the cafeteria. The eating was fine, he loved the fact that his need for energy and carbs was so easily catered for, but the running was horrendous. He felt like a hamster in a cage moving from food bowl to exercise wheel and back again. Elsewhere in the city of New York, William Kaplan was gazing beyond the veil of earth. His time with Doctor Strange was opening him up to new worlds and new ways of thinking. The light blue aura burned over his eyes as his almost magic like sight pierced the veil between this world and the dark dimension. Fear of corruption and getting lost had prevented him from entering it on his own, nor wad he sure he could without Doctor Strange's help. But even so this view of the very raw essence of reality helped him, to see more than he should and to help him with his confidence in his own powers. As William was not a SHIELD agent, he was not afforded the same protection that Tommy, Wands and Teddy were afforded. But he was not entirely without protection. He wasn't looking for trouble and spent as much time as he could in the places he deemed safest: Xavier's, the Undercity and Doctor Strange's sanctum. "We will need Tommy and Billy also." The words rang through his ears as the ghostly apparation of his mother appeared before him, his powers interacting with energies of the dark dimension. Was something the matter? Had something happened? Pulling his sights back the blue glow faded from his vision. He was well aware that he couldn't just appear on the helicarrier. He had done so before and almost had his head separated from his shoulders by Simon, his mom's partner. Firing off a quick message on his cell phone Billy warned his identical twin of his iminant arrival. The cell phone vibrated in his pocket as he finished off his second helping of today's cafeteria special. Sighing as he read the message, in a green, silver blur Tommy had returned his plates and stood by the intercom, pressing down the speak button. "Control, Junior Agent Shepherd requesting permission for civillian Kaplan, W to come aboard." He hated talking formally, it was all so very strange to him as he waited for the security clearance to be given, finally it was given as the control voice spoke back. "Thanks guys. I owe you" With that he zipped off again down the corridors to hid quarters. The blue portal was already closing as the door shut behind the speedster. "What's got your knickers in a twist Bills?" He asked his twin as he looked him over, he didn't look hurt and he was in his civvie clothing, so it didn't look to be life threatening. "Nice to see you too brother." Billy smirked as he hugged Tommy quickly, while the two were still incredibly close. Life was no longer the same as it had been when they both lived under the roof of Xavier's Squirming and pulling back Tommy hated Billy's obsession with PDA. He hated hugging at the best of times. "Yeah, yeah good to see you too I spose." He added as he pulled back. "Now tell me why you are here." He added a little impatiently, which was his way when he was in the dark about something. "I think mom is about to come looking for us," Adding equally as mysteriously as he avoided explaining how he new this. "Great.... You got a funny feeling didn't you?" Rolling his eyes deciding he wasn't even going to try and fathom out his reality shaping twin. |

Reality Warping
|
JP Wanda and Simon Wanda lifted her head, as if seeing and hearing something beyond the vast and empty expanse of the city skyline and rushing wind. "They are both here now," she said vaguely and took Simon's hand, interlacing their fingers. Each step through the carrier's halls and closer to the boys felt like snakes roiling in her stomach and a hand squeezing her heart. But just when it seemed too much, her dark eyes slid toward Simon and she felt new strength and calm course through her veins. "My darlings," she said as she entered Tommy's room, taking each boy's face in her hands and kissing them in greeting. "It is time that I tell you both something," she told them, touching her palm to each boy's cheek. "But not here. You must come with us." Looking between the boys, Wanda flexed her will and reality shifted, ripping opening crimson hole, the edges of the hole rippling like water as the curtain of reality moved aside. "It started in there, and in there," she inclined her dark curls toward the rip, "the circle must close." Through the opening, the rolling green hills would be familiar to the boys, vaguely as a place they had once lived and then as a place in a dream they had once visited. Wanda reached her hand out toward Simon. "Will you brave this, for me?" Simon was never afraid when he was with Wanda, never as a rule, but her evasiveness, her vagueness in this moment took him right to the edge. What was she going to tell him? Why did her boys have to be here? She opened the gap in reality that lead to her private domain, and she asked him to join her. He took her hand without hesitation, careful that his still adjusting strength did not hurt her, and he said, "I'm ready to brave anything for you, Wanda." He chose to forgo her nickname of 'Wandy' so she knew he was serious. Stepping through the portal, they were bathed in brilliant sunlight and the light fragrance of honeysuckle floating on the breeze. "Do you know of this place?" she asked Simon. In the distance, her little cottage sat empty but not a fleck of dust would've gathered on its surfaces in the time she'd been gone. He looked around the scenery, warm and sweet smelling. Glancing over at the cottage, Simon smiled. Considering how well he knew her, he could see her touches there, her personality. "I don't think I've ever been here," he told her, "It looks like you though. It looks just like you." "Thank you. That was sweet of you to say." The compliment made Wanda smile, her naturally cheerful disposition coming again to the surface, despite what was ahead of her. But that was what Simon brought out in her, reaching through the chaos of her mind and life and pulling her back to happiness. "Years ago, before I knew you, before Billy and Tommy lived," Wanda tilted her head as she reconsidered, "No, they lived but they had not yet been born in my life, but I knew them. Time," she turned her face up to Simon, "the past, the present, the future, they are all flowing... all happening. Events reaching forward and back and changing things. But understanding that does not matter. Just know that I was alone and my heart was broken. So I came here," she gestured to the paradise around them. "All right," Simon said, "I might need to draw a chart here, but.... I'm with you so far, I think." He looked over at the boys. "Yeah, I'm with you, I think." She followed his gaze over to where her perfect twin boys stood, then took both his strong hands in hers and stood before him. "Do you remember the first time we met? I came to see Pietro. I brought him a flower. It was you who came and took me to see him." The corners of her eyes crinkled in remembrance, "And you asked about the flower. You talked to me." Unbidden, her hand reached up and caressed his cheek. "With me, my memory does not work like other people," she explained something that he already knew well about her, and miracle of miracles, loved her anyway. "Sometimes I do not my past... And sometimes I remember what is to come. And sometimes, my powers make things happen without me knowing what is happening. I did not know you that day, and I do not know if my powers played with your fate, making it certain that you, and not some other one, met me that day. But, I know now, that I already knew you. I met you here." Simon remembered that day on the helicarrier, remembering his first sight of this perfect woman. She was a mutant and though he, back then, was just a human, it never really occurred to him that she was so high above him. He just saw a beautiful girl who cared for her brother, who didn't fear the situation they were in... who was so strange and magical that his whole world was going to change... "I was here?" Simon frowned, "I will be here? Wanda, I don't understand." "That Wanda, that lonely and shattered Wanda, some day you will met her," she didn't always remember that time in her life, that most things in her chaotic mind, it came and went, but she remembered it now. "You will find yourself here again. And when you leave, she will be mended and know that she will not be alone. And you, will be a father. It has happened. It will happen. If you still allow it," she looked over to the boys. Their lives still depended on Simon, on his future actions. "Uh... what?" Simon stammered. "Are you saying... are you..." He looked over to the boys and then back at Wanda, "Am I their father?" Shaking his head, he didn't think to doubt it, but how... "My god... I don't understand this, I mean... I don't know that I know how to be a... and... and they're grown ups... how do I..." Doubling over, he took a few deep breaths, and calmed his nerves. "I've traveled through time, gotten super powers and helped save the day, but this... this is the first thing that's really scared me." Looking over at the boys, Simon said, "I guess there's about twenty something years of allowance you guys are going to want to talk to me about?" It wasn't much of a joke, but it was the best he could do at the moment. "Simon," Wanda's eyes widened with concern and patted his back as he gasped. "It will all be well. It will, yes?" her eyes furrowed as his panic attack continued, and then, because there was really nothing else to say, "I love you. Life with me is ... strange and surprising, good and bad, sometimes very scary but ... Simon? Here, have some water," she said, offering him the glass of water suddenly in her hand. She offered him water. His life had just been turned completely upside down and she offered him water. He straightened up, and took the glass, setting it aside for the moment. He put his hands on her upper arms, gently always, but firmly, and he said, "Life with you is unlike anything I have ever known, and I don't know that I'm a good enough man to survive it." Then, he leaned in to her and kissed her gently on the lips, "But I love you so much that I'm sure as hell gonna try." She smiled and leaned into his chest. "You will," Wanda tilted her face to look up into his. "You are Simon Williams... Wonder Man." And the magic of Wanda Maximoff coursed through his veins. |

JP the twins Tommy had given up years ago trying to understand his and Wanda's powers, there was no point in trying to, there simply was no understanding the warping of reality when you yourself couldn't do it. Luckily however it wasn't like that he really had to try and understand it anymore, because no sooner than he had spoken about his identical twin's funny feeling, was their mother walking into the room with Simon who was they both knew, though Billy knew him that little bit better. Though Tommy hoped to change that now that he was working with SHIELD, and that they would perhaps wind up being sent on similar missions with one another. "Hey mom." Tommy said, given that he was the faster of the two twins, then Billy repeated the same. Each twin accepted the kiss that their mother planted on their cheeks, Tommy even going so far as to kiss his mom back (because let's face it, he is a momma's boy.) Though Billy pulled back a little and looked across to Simon with a smile. "Hey Simon," speaking friendly enough. It wasn't like either twin really felt weird about the fact that their mom had a boyfriend, it wasn't like they were regular babies who had a father who wasn't around, they had been created by their mother's magic and as a result there was no missing father for them to have to worry about, besides Simon treated their mom good and so really there was nothing to worry about in the slightest. "What do you mean come with you?" Tommy spoke up, curious as to where they were going and silently hoping that he would be able to run there, because while he loved his work for SHIELD, it was definitely a good thing for him, but he did miss being able to run when he wanted and where he wanted. While he could run on the carrier some, it wasn't the same as running through the open spaces around the school. It was an area of adjustment that he hadn't gotten used to yet and like everything with the speedster it would just be a matter of time until he did get used to it. Both twins jaw dropped as Wanda's will shifted, Billy perhaps aware of what was happening a few moments before the portal opened given his own connection to reality that was similar, but not on the same scale as their mom's. "I thought that, that world was lost?" Billy mouthed to Tommy as he looked across at his twin. Tommy shrugged, it wasn't like he was an expert in portals to other dimensions beyond the adventures that they had together and then the world of the Skrull that he hadn't really traveled to by choice. Either way, there was a longing in both twins to return to the world that they had been born in, there were very few people that could understand how the twins felt in regards to the utopia style world that they were born and then sent away from; the other future children were among the few that could understand, but it wasn't like they could speak to Tommy where he was now, he doubted that they would want to. Given how much most of the future kids seemed to hate on SHIELD because of what happened in their future. What neither twin truly understood, was why Simon was here. Neither resented the fact that he was there, in fact they were glad that Wanda had someone that she could share her life with. Simon reiterated that he would go anywhere for Wanda, and the twins mom and Simon were the first to enter the portal, soon followed by Tommy and then lastly Billy. On the other side of the world was the world that they had only been to the twice in their lives, but both twins remembered it exactly; the last time they had been there they had both had to witness the world fall apart as they watched their distressed mother make the hardest decision in the world; to give up her children. Not just to another family, but to two different families in two different worlds and in a completely different time. Wasting no time, Tommy zipped off, he needed to stretch his legs and this world was as good as any to do that. He didn't go far, but he didn't need to. His speed let him cover a great distance in a short amount of time, arriving back with the gathered members of his immediate family seconds after he left listening in on the conversation as Wanda explained to Simon how timed worked. Both twins were experts; well if there was such an a thing as experts on time travel. Given that both had traveled through sixteen years of history when they were sent back to where they were adopted by their new families. Though now Simon was looking at them, speaking of perhaps needing a chart. Grinning Billy spoke; "It gets easier I promise, it took us some getting used to when we were first explained it." Tommy nodded along deciding that Billy was more than capable of explaining it at the moment without the need of his back up. Both twins went quiet again as Wanda spoke of the first time that Wanda and Simon met, of course both twins reacted differently to the story; Billy was the more mature and found the story sweet, while Tommy was the immature twin and still found overly emotion situations gut wrenching and leaving him with the desire to barf, though he wasn't quite that bad now, but still he didn't liked being forced to face overly emotional situations. There was more talking about time and how in fact Wanda had met Simon before, not on the helicarrier; but here in this world. That was astounding to both of them, but really what came next was much bigger and far, far more Earth shattering to the two of them. Tommy's first instinct was to run, it couldn't possibly be true? Could it? Simon was their dad? It was then that his feet started working, barely catching Simon's joke as he ran off. Billy on the other hand, had no such ability to run away, nor was he sure that he wanted to. Looking at both his parents, though his gaze shifted to Simon more to Simon almost staring at the agent as he took in what had bene revealed to them. "Leave him. He'll be back, it's how he deals with stuff." Billy didn't want Simon to think that it was because of him that he ran off, well it was the revelation but Tommy was emotionally stunted and the running helped him deal with things. Wanda was busy tending to Simon while a million different questions coursed through Billy's mind, though he wasn't scared, or nervous in fact, a smile formed on his lips. "Well we've got twenty years of everything to catch up on... heh. Though I mean that's a lot of father son bonding to do." Billy's eyes widening a little as he thought on that one. The green blur that was Tommy was back, his eyes were stinging and they were a little red; "BeforeyousayanythingIhaven'tbeencrying. I forgot my goggles." Shooting a glare at Billy before looking back at Wanda and Simon, though a smile was now on his face. "I've decided I'm totally cool having Wonder Man as a dad." Laughing lightly before he carried on. "Though I'm gonna hold you to twenty years worth of allowance." Holding his hands up now. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding." |
