"Not yet," the young mutant said to Micah, giving his shiny roomie a glance as he rummaged through the wreckage. "Lots of ruined food and stuff, but...nothing worth using..." That didn't deter him, though. There was no reason to assume that they'd been sent off without supplies or something, just in case something like this happened. Had to be something. Hearing Elle mention the crushed trees, Aaron considered her words for a moment. It was a good point, but there was no real indication that that was the case. They could have been flying somewhere else before they crashed, so the base wasn't necessarily in that direction. "We don't know that, Elle," he said absently, pushing some things aside to aid his search. Ah, pay dirt. Picking up the device, Aaron gave it a once over. It was a watch or something, but it wasn't like anything he'd ever seen before. "Huh..." Before he got a chance to examine the object he'd found further, all hell broke loose. Aaron whipped around in time to see Micah get picked up by the flying beast and carried off into the distance. It was a frantic few seconds, and he didn't really have a chance to do anything to prevent anything. "Oh crap..." he whispered, feeling completely and totally helpless as his metal mate was taken away from them. But reality set in pretty quick. There was nothing they could do about it now. All they could do now was track down Micah, who was out there somewhere. But what could they do? He was at a loss. He wasn't a leader, nor did he want to be. Sighing quietly, he scratched the back of his neck, glancing down at the equipment he'd found. What was it, anyway? Turning it over in his hands, he located what might have been a switch. Pressing it, the display lit up with a bunch of dots. Looking at the dots in relation to the rest of the team, he reasoned that it was some sort of radar he'd found. "...Okay, we can use this...uh, guys, I think I found a radar or something. Looks like...this is us," indicating a group of four dots on the display, "and these other things are things out in the jungle...maybe we can use this to find Micah...uh, Evvy? Are you okay? I hate to ask but...did you see the base while you were up there?" |

"Miss Rahne, this is boring. They're not doing anything," one of the kids moaned, and a few others tried to hush him while yet others just giggled. "Give it a moment, Jaden - here in the Danger Room, things can change at the drop of a-" Rahne started , but was interrupted by her point in progress proving itself. The class erupted into a surprised yell as a rather large pterosaur swooped down from the sky and began to make its way off with Micah. Rahne only smiled for a moment, before turning her attention to smaller screens in the control panel which allowed her to focus in on particular students. This was one of those moments that was going to define the session. Micah had allowed his guard to drop. He had been more intent on flirting with the girls than making sure he watched out for his own back and now he had fallen prey to a predatory attack. As much as she felt urged to, she was not going to save the day. She had to let them react, she had to let them decide how to act in order to come to their teammate's aid. He may or may not have needed help, but they were a team and it remained to be seen if they could act like one. Either way, the pterosaur's attempt to abscond with Micah, while fruitless, had separated them. And aside from the radar unit Aaron had, they didn't really have much in the way of picking Micah's exact position out. Well, aside from the panicked shrieks from both of them, of course. That was a dead giveaway. However, as such a ruckus is wont to do in the jungle, the crew had no longer gone unnoticed. A distant roar sounded out over the air, echoing faintly around them. Something had taken notice of the chaos abound - and it was surely only a matter of time before that something decided to act, if it hadn't already... |

Elle glanced over as Payton piped up. "Oh? Well, that's kinda what I said..." She shrugged and moved nearer the plane, with Aaron and Payton. After a few moments, she did begin to feel a bit of a chill in the air. "Huh, I guess it's working after all." Then she noticed the frosty coating on bits of the girl's uniform. "Must be the humidity. Can you, like, turn into a snowman, too, like those other guys?" Giggling, she didn't tease the girl any further, turning towards Micah and Evelyn. She could hear pieces of their conversation, before her attention was pulled to the new arrival. She let out a shout as the flying beast appeared, crashing into the trees as it apparently tried to chomp at Ev. She wasn't sure how the rather heavy teen had scurried up the tree so fast, but Micah was suddenly up there, too. Elle pressed herself up against the vehicle, trying to disappear against it, ducking down a bit. "There's actually dinosaurs trying to eat us!?" Her shouts were nothing compared to the noises Micah and the flying thing were making, as they took a short trip before crashing together somewhere in the jungle. At least it had gone after the most durable person here. She eased away from the side of the vehicle as Aaron spoke up with his findings. "I guess we have to go find him, since we're all supposed to make it there together." The loud roar that came out of nowhere made her go a bit pale, tensing up. "...l-let's get moving, okay?" Glancing around frantically, keeping an eye out for anything else that might try to surprise them, she rushed towards Evelyn's tree. She was eager to get out of the open, even if it meant heading into the jungle, and trying to locate a disgruntled holographic monster. |

Payton smiled a little at Elle's question. She thought of herself as some sort of snow or ice girl and couldn't help but think it ridiculous. "Nah. I don't think so." She felt, well, useless at this point. Sure she could help keep everyone cooled down and could probably be a source of water if the heat got to be too much for them as well. However Micah was plucked off before anyone could do anything. Heck, she might have been able to get some kind of icicle spear/arrow thing to attack it, had she been faster. Or if the stupid dinosaur had been slower, or not who knows how many feet up in the freaking air. "Stupid lizard bird." She muttered, seemingly not fazed by the flying dinosaur's appearance. Honestly, it was kind of like being in some weird television show, or movie. Now if only there was some way to get that guy back. They'd be golden and be able to finally move on and get to the base. Provided nothing else tried to kill them. "Yes, Elle." She replied, to the girl's shouts. The roar that came after the giant flying lizard however, did rather well with unnerving the ice mutant. "Let's not stick around here any longer than necessary, I think." She agreed with Elle. She knew she was probably voicing everyone's thoughts, but honestly, she didn't know what else could be said. They had a radar now, or something. Finding Micah shouldn't be as hard. It was just a matter of what the winged lizard would do. She didn't want to get caught up in any dinosaur's path, be them predator or not. And if they could avoid another Micah incident, then she was all for whatever the others could think of. |

The branches that broke her fall were quickly manipulated into a shield to protect her from the assault. It gave her some time and space to breathe, and think about how to deal with the dinosaur while separated from the others. She didn't get the chance to do anything about it, though. It couldn't get through the barrier she created easily, but the branches she might have used to swat at it were protecting her, and supporting her weight. She could hear Micah shouting below, but thought little of it until she heard his voice again, much closer. As he attempted to shoo off the dinosaur, she detangled the tree limbs, and the pterosaur grabbed Micah by his arm. Somehow it managed to carry the metal mutant and fly off with him. For a while, at least, until his weight brought it down. Both the creature's shrieks, and Micah's, were suddenly cut off when they crashed through the underbrush. Briar scrambled to get down to the ground, ignoring the scrapes from the roughened bark as inconsequential. She'd dealt with worse without the distraction of dinosaurs. Distance failed to mask the strength of the roar. Something big. Maybe even a T-Rex. She leaned on the tree until Aaron asked if she was okay - and the location of the base. "Just needed to catch my breath," she replied, before pointing towards the converted temple base, "And it looked like the base was that way. Also happens to be the direction Charm was carried off. Let's go get him." Getting through the jungle was easier than it could have been. The underground was very thick in places, and they would have had to cut through it or navigate around large areas where it was dense. As it was, the barriers moved out of their way until they passed. Everything was returned to its previous position after they passed, so anything following them would have to struggle - and make noise before reaching them. It was still a difficult hike, hot if she didn't keep close to Payton, and the regular use of her powers was an energy drain. It would have been more tiring to force their way through the foliage however, so it was worth it. |

Maybe he was the student with the most experience in the Danger Room? Judging by Elle's reaction, anyway, he got the feeling that was the case. Maybe it was because he knew it was all fake that he was so relaxed about seeing his roomie get carried off by a flying lizard. Or maybe it was because he was surrounded by light, which was sort of his thing, and that just made him more aware of the falseness of the reality they were being shown. Either way, he was oddly unfazed by everything that was happening around them. They were off and moving in short order. Aaron had opted to keep his eye on the little device he'd found, trying to determine exactly how it worked. Technology really wasn't this thing, but from what he could tell, it tracked motion, a theory which seemed to be supported when one of the dots suddenly dashed in front of them, though it's real form was a small lizard rather than a digital light. "Good to know," he whispered to no one in particular. Wiping his brow, the photokinetic looked up at all of the trees that were surrounding them. It was still a little mind blowing to him that all of this was made of light. If he wanted to, he could probably pull one of those trees apart, photon by photon. Not that he would - it'd be too much of a strain to try, and if this were real he wouldn't be able to do that at all. Best to treat it like he would in an actual situation. Because one day he'd find himself in a jungle in the middle of Antarctica. Right. A group of dots caught his eye. Whatever they were, they were moving toward the group. "...I think we're about to have company," he said, giving the others a look. "Got a bunch of dots here moving our way. Dunno what they are but they probably ain't friendly." His mind began racing. What did they do? Where did they go? Any trace of perceived leadership the others might have felt from him would likely vanish before long. He didn't know how to react to this. Someone else would have to take control. |

Although it was a question as to just how lucky it was for Micah's rescue party, they would not have to search very hard for the fallen silver star, needing only to follow the echo of shrieks into the thick forest that were undoubtedly attracting the attention of other creatures in close proximity. "LEGGO YER GREAT BLEEDIN' LIZARD!" The impact of both man and beast hitting the ground had formed a modest crater only a few hundred yards in the distance, leaving the pterosaur battered but its prey unharmed that was still trying to wriggle its arm free. Although he was determined to get away, Micah still felt some obligation to be gentle, having never purposely harmed a soul in his life, despite the fact that the winged dinosaur he was wrestling with was only a clever ball of light and energy. "Oi! I ain't a jelly baby, so gimme back m'arm!" A yellow pointed glare his only response, Micah changed his strategy and adding in a whisper,"If ye leggo m'arm I'll personally find yer a pretty lady ehm.. flyer-thing, whatever ye are, ken?" He quirked his eyebrows, giving his arm an experimental tug, to which the pterosaur squawked only loudly and tightened its grip, its needle teeth pressing harder into his skin which he could barely feel. "Ach, awrite a boy flyer-thing!" Frustrated at his situation and embarrassed at how easily he'd been plucked up like an ignorant worm, Micah scowled as the sparkling charm he'd grown accustomed to could not help him get a date or reason with a creature extinct by millions of years. In fact, all the wits he'd had about him had all but vanished thanks to the cuff on his wrist, and if he'd only carried on with his life in spite of Moira's warnings the entire world would be falling at his feet with adoration right now. As optimistic as he'd always been, Micah was beginning to feel downright bitter. "Awrite now ye listen here, ye snake with wings! I got things t'do so let go o'me 'fore I make ye!" Wedging one hand in between the modest gap his arm made between the pterosaur's upper and lower mandible, Micah gave a gentle tug, minding his own reign of strength. Despite being crippled and helpless, the winged beast put up a struggle anyway, flopping in the dirt and making a shrill noise so loud that it made Micah's head buzz, and he jerked harder on the pterosaur's beak, gritting his teeth with every word. "I said let go, ye beast! LET. GO--" A fountain of reptilian blood, bone, and brain exploded like liquid confetti as Micah successfully ripped off the creature's beak, taking a portion of its skull in the process and killing it instantly. |

Well, this was certainly interesting. Their teammate in trouble, perhaps even mortal trouble, and some of them seemed a bit reluctant to go help him. Hesitant. That was not going to fly, for sure. In truly dangerous, real-world situations, a moment's indecision can prove disastrous. At the very least they all did decide to go after Micah, did decide to go find him and rescue him from the billed jaws of the massive pteranodon that had taken off with him. The kids were eating it up, hooting, hollering, cheering as if they were at a live sporting event. Rahne glanced over at them, frowning slightly. "Kids. Keep it down a touch. He might be hurt out there, an' that's never an appropriate response to someone possibly gettin' hurt," she chided, and that caused them to at the very least quiet their enthusiasm down a bit. But they still seemed thrilled, excited to watch the events unfold. She had to keep in mind that these kids were rookies all of them. They didn't have the finely-honed combat experience that those of a higher level than them were possessed of. They didn't have instinctive responses to certain stimuli borne of hard work in this room, from actual practical situations in which their teamwork and power were tested. They were fresh, for the most part. The team managed to move through the jungle very efficiently, with Briar keeping them from tripping up on the underbrush, and the others keeping a tight formation while Aaron kept a close watch on the radar that alerted them to dangers around them. They were doing very well, despite the bellyaching. They would manage to catch up close to Micah just in time to hear a sickening crack, one that took everyone in the viewing area by surprise, even Rahne. "My goodness," she whispered, and that cue was all it took to spawn a rousing chorus from the kids. "He's covered in blood!" one of them shouted in surprise, shouting out the obvious as kids are wont to do from time to time. "No, he's covered in the robot's lubrication fluids," Rahne quickly corrected. "That... jus' so happen t' look an awful lot like blood..." The boy was strong, stronger than he let on, and likely stronger than he had known up until this point. At the very least he was capable of defending himself when he put the effort forth. That was going to serve him and his teammates very well in this exercise. At the very least, this unplanned rescue had taken them a bit closer toward their goal, so there was that at least... It was at that moment that Aaron's recently-acquired watch would begin beeping. Three distinct points were converging on the team, and at a very rapid pace at that. Short, sharp barks sounded out all around them, at different intervals, before... something... stepped out. It was small, bipedal, and feathered yet distinctly reptilian. Standing at most about four feet tall at the shoulder, it looked at them with sharp, piercing golden eyes before clicking its fangs together. Each foot bore a nasty-looking sickle-shaped toe-claw. "Velociraptors," Rahne remarked. "Good luck down there." |

"Of course it's that way. That's what I said!" She motioned in front of her. "Go, go! Lead the way." Elle was eager to get moving, heading into the jungle as soon as Evelyn took the lead. They were fairly clumped up, staying close enough for Payton's pleasantly cool emissions to affect the entire group. After a few moments of hiking, she also realized this was making it easier for Evelyn to do whatever she was doing. As they walked, she could see limbs and vines bending aside before snapping back into place behind them. Useful, but creepy, which seemed to describe most of the powers she'd seen demonstrated at the school so far. It was easy enough to tell they were close to their lost member. She could hear him complaining, and the creature screeching right back. Elle glanced over as Aaron studied that device. "Dots?" She started to worry about what that might mean, before jerking to a stop at a horrible noise that came from a very short distance in front of them. In the brief moment of silence right after, the beeping from Aaron's watch was easy to hear. Whatever those dots represented were growing closer. And then they were there. Dinosaurs. Her head jerked left and right as she followed the noises, before one made itself seen. She let out a squeal, hair and eyes suddenly changing color. Nothing was jumping at her, at least not yet, so she didn't knock anyone backwards, but it was obvious she was ready to react to the threat. She had a feeling they hadn't assigned anyone with dinosaur-shooting powers to this team. |

Payton tensed up at the sight of a Velociraptor. She would not run. She would not hide. It was pointless anyway. Don't show fear, don't be afraid, they can sense it. The mantra of reassurance flooded her mind as she attempted to figure out what could be done efficiently and quickly to get rid of the raptors. She found herself in the middle of everyone at some point, which wasn't much of a good thing. She needed a clear shot at these things if she were to attempt in any way to help with the danger. The ice teen almost smiled, but her thoughts weren't that funny right now. Taking action she cooled the area immediately around her, focusing on making as cold as she could in two seconds, while keeping it close to her so the rapid snap in temperature didn't affect everyone else right away. With the temperature set, Payton figured in the other dots, the other dinosaurs, and he likelihood that there'd be more than just one target to focus on. "I'm really beginning to hate dinosaurs." She hissed. Maybe she could construct a dome to give them more time? But then, how would it effect Briar, if at all? "And to think Velociraptors were my favorite of the bunch." Think Frigid. She snapped at herself. Think, what would be something you can make that could help? Gauntlet with claws or talons? A good idea but she wasn't sure how it would work. "It's going to get a bit cold." She warned, though they might have already gotten the message from the temperature snap. With quick hand motions ice began to form from the ground up, cracking as millimeter after millimeter built up, inch by inch. She knew she may not have enough time to cover them all in a dome if the look in the raptor's eyes was anything to go by. However she had to get as much as she could. This was to by them time and...oh why didn't she think of this earlier? A shriek came from the dinosaur as soon as the dome shielded them from it's sight, followed by two more on either side of the group. Not good. Not good at all. Who the heck thought they could somehow end up in Antarctica anyways? |

Raptors. He'd really hoped it wasn't raptors. He'd seen Jurassic Park and hadn't been able to sleep for a week. Admittedly he was like five when he saw it, but childhood fears were hard to overcome sometimes. So frightened was he that he froze for a moment, and not due to Payton's creating an ice dome to shield them from the beasts. But was it enough? He wasn't sure, but the dinosaurs couldn't see them anymore. That was something, anyway. Reminding himself that none of this was real, that he wasn't actually in danger of being devoured by raptors, Aaron took a step back from the situation, trying to decide what to do now. The dome was a good idea on Payton's part, but now that he thought about it, he realized that once it was complete they'd be cut off, unable to move. "Payton, don't finish the dome!" he called out to her, darkening the air around him as he pulled in some photons, causing himself to glow. "Uh, l-let's try to lose them...I'll blind 'em if they get close, but we need to run!" He was just a little bit frantic. Glancing around for some sort of salvation, Aaron realized that he had no idea where to go. There wasn't a predetermined path, there was no one here to tell him what to do, where to go. For the first time since this simulation had started, Aaron realized that they were alone. No one was coming to help them. They were on their own. "Dammit," he growled, frustration building up inside him. There was only one thing to do. Running toward one of the lower parts of the dome, he climbed up, ignoring the fact that it was freezing the best he could. There was a raptor waiting on the other side, which was immediately blinded by a blast of light issued forth from Aaron's palm. The creature stumbled around, squealing furiously, no doubt drawing it's compatriots over to him. They had to go, and fast. "This way!" he shouted at the others. |

Frigid took care of the brutal heat, for which Ev was thankful. Not merely for herself, but for the kids. The heat and the terrain would take its toll on them, and she needed them at their best if they were going to run into anything nasty. Not that the heat and terrain hadn't its own effect on her, but she thrived on it. Sure her muscles burned and her curly hair was damp with sweat, but that was just to be expected during a decent hike in the heat. Briar was also glad to have them at her back. Nothing would be able to sneak up on her without them making a lot of noise. “How many?” Ev asked, glancing back at Aaron and his device. She'd noticed he'd had it, but she hadn't known how much they could rely on it. It was good that they weren't going to be ambushed without warning at least. “How close?” she asked, though she moved to look herself. Her second question was answered when they heard the dinosaurs moving through the foilage. Her eyes scanned the area. It would have to do. There were three surrounding them if the scanner was accurate. There was four of them, without Charm. “They're predators. If we run, they'll hunt us for prey. If we bloody their noses, they'll slink away,” she said, when Aaron said they had to run. “And we don't know that we won't run into something else. We can take them.” She climbed the shield too, ready to fend off any raptor that got too close. “The cold... they're not warm blooded, it should slow them down. Make them stupid. That, or – can you make ice projectiles, Frigid?” She didn't know Elle's powers, but she was partially protected by the ice shield and her teammates. If she had any ideas, she could jump in, but Evvy hadn't a clue when it came to her. The raptor that Aaron temporarily blinded squealed and shook its head. While it was disorientated – and weak – she acted. There was a loud creaking noise from above. A tall tree, bending unnaturally, swung with increasing speed and swatted the raptor. There was a wet noise when it connected, and the animal went flying through the air into the undergrowth. “The others...” Ev looked around for the other raptors, still crouching on the icy half dome. The creatures were hidden again, for the moment. “If we're going to go. Charm was close, I could hear him just a minute ago.” She wouldn't be happy until they were all together. Even if he was better off than if they'd lost anyone else. Though he might have heard the fighting and come to them. If he could. |

Dazed by his own actions and a show of his own strength, Micah swallowed thickly before what had just happened started to sink in. "Naw.... naw.. yer awrite," Micah muttered in disbelief to himself, slapping the half of the pterosaur's head he was holding in his hand against the faceless stump, as though this action would miraculously stitch the two back together. The young man's stomach clenched as his gaze caught the golden, reptilian eye, its slit of a pupil staring him down even in death. "Aw shite!" he gasped in realization, dropping the disembodied portion of a dinosaur's head on the ground with a sickening schlep and scrambling backwards in the dirt to put some distance between him and the dinosaur's carcass. If there were color to be had in the Scotsman's face, it would have drained down to his toes. The sheen on his cheekbones turned a dull matte instead, an indicator of exactly how ill he felt over being responsible for the death of another living thing, momentarily forgetting that this was a simulation. Micah rubbed his bloodied hands into the leather of his uniform, trying to remove the evidence of what he had done. A screech in the near distance realigned his focus, and he quite suddenly remembered that he was not the only one trapped in this primordial jungle. Almost jumping to his feet, the silver teen then spared himself one last look at the dead pterosaur. "Ehm.. sorry 'bout yer noggin there, mate. ....ah.. don't matter none.. yer all.. dead and the like. Can't hear me anyway." A series of shouts reminding him of reality, Micah broke into an urgent run through the knee-high tangles of grass, unable to fathom what might be happening to his friends. He had survived a great fall and a close encounter with a prehistoric carnivore, but not everyone was made of metal. Since his failed abduction had not taken him far, Micah did not have to run for long, a sharp drop in the surrounding temperature indicating that at least one of his teammates was close. This way! Able to discern his roommate's voice at this distance, Micah picked up the pace, batting back star-shaped leaves bigger than his own body as he tried not to trip on the criss-crossed maze of roots underfoot. "I'm here, mates! I'm here!" he shouted, crashing through the last wall of foliage that separated him from the rest of the group. The remaining velociraptors looked bewildered, their new opponent a sparkling humanoid with the smell of a fresh kill smeared into the grain of his metal skin. The scent of death piquing the interest of at least two of the theropods, they advanced upon their new prey, snapping at each other to be the first to get to him. One of the feathered dinosaurs was faster, hooking its talons hard into Micah's skin which promptly snapped off, unable to break the tungsten barrier. Squealing with pain, the velociraptor withdrew, cuffing at its pack member with a good talon when it tried to approach. Still feeling panicked and surging with adrenaline, Micah thrashed his arms, knocking both of his opponents hard into the ground. His chest heaving, he looked to the his teammates with wide eyes and gasped out, "The Land 'Afore Time nae prepared me for this!" |

"Hmm," Rahne murmured as she watched the team in action. Some of them waited, standing back and hoping the dinosaurs wouldn't attack. Others were more proactive, taking initiative in fighting the velociraptors off. "Well, it is a first run through the Danger Room," she said with a shrug of her shoulders. The kids were enjoying the fight well enough, though. Aaron and Evvy worked together to eliminate some of the reptiles, while Payton erected frozen defenses. They were going to need to work more proactively if they wanted to get to the temple in time. It would be dark soon, and the last place they wanted to be was in the jungle after nightfall. Suddenly, there was Micah, rushing to catch up to the rest of the group, flailing his arms and luckily taking out a few velociraptors. The pack seemed to get the picture - this particular prey was too much trouble. Keeping at it could get more of them killed and they seemed to scamper off. The sun was beginning to go down, shadows lengthened in the jungle. And still there was the threat of whatever large creature had noticed their presence looming off in the distance. They had to move, and they had to move fast. If they didn't, the chance that they wouldn't make it back safe and sound became that much greater. |

Elle shivered at the sudden drop in temperature. This training uniform she'd been assigned was comfortable, flexible and well insulated while still breathing nicely, but it still wasn't thick enough to block out the localized arctic blast Frigid conjured up as she began to build her wall. The jacket that had been uncomfortably warm earlier was now much more appreciated. She wanted to shove her hands into her pockets, but had a feeling that was a bad idea in a combat situation. The others seemed to be handling things pretty well, though. Her eyes widened as the icy dome was steadily erected around the group, which just made her wince even harder when Aaron began glowing and shooting sparkles. Once she'd blinked her vision clear, she realized the others had been rapidly abandoning the structure Payton had created. Glancing at the one student left inside the dome, Elle shrugged. "Um, I guess we're moving now. Sorry!" She winced as she grabbed ahold of the unfinished side of the structure with one hand, not planning to keep in contact with the frozen chunk for long. The dome was higher now, so she didn't try to climb or leap like the others had. Her body simply jerked into the air, pivoting around the point where her hand connected her to the stable structure. Then gravity returned to normal for her, and she slid down the outside of the dome. She managed to dismount fairly gracefully, her momentum sending her forward a few steps, just as Charm finished knocking aside the last few dinosaurs. She was happy to see them go, but something else grabbed her attention. "Oh my god! You're, like, covered in blood! Eww!" She made quite the face, nose wrinkling up. "Ugh, now I can smell it." Elle waved her hand in front of her face, looking back to make sure Payton joined them before everyone started running off again. |
