PLAYER INFORMATION NAME: Callum Armour CONTACT: Callum_Armour@hotmail.com (email, msn, Skype) Callum_Armour1@yahoo.co.uk (yim) HOW YOU FOUND US: I was here a looooong time ago OTHER CHARACTERS ON THE SITE: none RULES CODE: Xavier CREDIT WHERE IT'S DUE: http://z4.invisionfree.com/Xrevolution/ar/t7390.htm old bio CHARACTER INFORMATION ![]() BASIC INFORMATION CANON OR ORIGINAL: Original AFFILIATION: None FULL NAME: His birth name has been lost in time as he was born (and died) before births were recorded. Michael Patrick Taylor is most likely his original. Today he goes by the identity of Michael Lazarus. CODENAME: Captain Lazarus NICKNAMES: None CURRENT AGE: 120 (But looks between 21-24 depending on the last time he had a fatal encounter) DATE OF BIRTH: March 8th 1893 MARITAL STATUS: Single SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Straight BASE OF OPERATIONS: New York City TIME AT INSTITUTE: He's brushed in and out on visits as an Agent of SHIELD but never stayed. His last encounter ended with his resignation. REGISTERED WITH SHIELD? Yes, former special agent with high level clearance. Officially listed as deceased but still has access to SHIELD resources in a pinch - computer password, building access codes and national security details that date back to the moon landings. That kind of power is rarely used as his usage is monitored and logging into the SHIELD mainframe would be like buying an hour of air time on CNN to say happy birthday to Nick Fury. HOMETOWN: London, England. KNOWN RELATIVES: No known relatives, as an only child both his parents died from Cholera before 1920 and after being recorded as dead it became hard for Michael to keep track of extended family. 100 years, two world wars and an apocalypse later distant relations may still be alive. PHYSICAL APPEARANCE HEIGHT: 6'2" BUILD: Athletic EYES: Blue HAIR: Dark Brown DISTINGUISHING MARKS: Surprisingly youthful features and a boyish grin coupled with the cocky swagger of someone in their early twenties. However, if you get close enough there is something unsettling about his eyes. They look like the eyes of a very old, sad man. Despite his smile. CLOTHING STYLE: Vintage 1940's mixed with modern smart but casual. Think boots and jeans with a tailored shirt and a military greatcoat. Michael lives in the 21st century but holds it's clear from his appearance he holds onto a nostalgia for his military officer past and a time when he knew the bad guys were the ones wearing the red arm bands. UNIFORM: Nothing official, but despite the situation or occasion he always wears a 1940's Royal Air Force great coat with the rank insignia of a Group Captain. Usually worn over a casual shirt/pants, sometimes over black ops gear/Kevlar if necessary. http://www.entertainmentearth.com/images/A...ABCJHCOATlg.jpg POWERS GENERAL DESCRIPTION: : As the name suggests Michael Lazarus is unable to die. However this does NOT stop him from being killed and he has no form of special healing factor or protection from injury. His powers are limited to self resurrection. After being inflicted with a fatal injury, illness or even old age all life signs including pulse, respiration and brain activity stops for upto several minutes before Michael's body simply 'forces' itself back into a living state, usually gasping for air like he'd just awoken from drowning. This experience not only resuscitates Michael but restores his physical body to the healthy state it was in when his mutant powers first emerged (his 21st birthday) Down to the fresh cut on the palm of his right hand. Meanwhile the mental state such as memories, intelligence and new skills learned since his last death remain unchanged by the process and unless the death was especially traumatic he can be on his feet in the time it takes to regain his breath. The 'resurrection reset' process 'reset' is always the same no matter the circumstances of death. If limbs are chopped of they have been known to grow back and bullet wounds close up at the reset moment. When his body is burned flesh regrows in the same way it would with a small burn. WEAKNESS: Michael has zero control over the process of resurrection. Over the many years he has been psychologically scarred and traumatised by deaths which have included attempted suicide. Additionally despite his ability to recover from death Michael has no immunity from the injury or pain preceding it and has no control over HOW he dies, he could die quickly or slow and painfully, drowning in his own blood before waking up in it. He does he have any other super powers or enhanced mutant abilities. In combat situations he relies martial arts, training and weapons. PERSONALITY Anyone who met him in passing would say that Michael Lazarus is a charming and light hearted man. An officer and a gentleman maybe. Also slightly out of place with his vintage clothing but upto speed with the recent pop trends and 21st century attitudes. They would also say he was harmless and maybe even chivalrous. . But the truth is that winning smile and good manner's is an Ex SHIELD agent and assassin who has killed many times. a professional killer and secret agent able to disconnect himself from the emotion of a situation like switching off a light. He worked for various organisations for almost a century before dropping off the map and during that time he became known as the agent with a specialty for missions no-one else could survive. That kind of career shapes a man. He has many regrets about his long past, especially his relationship with death itself. Despite everything though he has tried to work as a force for good during his time at SHIELD, the British secret service, The Royal Air Force and the British Army. In the early days it was much clearer who the bad guys are and as the years past he has become more and more jaded by 'the mission' before finally deciding to strike out on his own and let his own morals alone decide what he should do with his skills. He is a good man who has done many bad things with his long life and is trying to find a little redemption. He want's to protect and help people but isn't afraid to get his hands dirty doing it. Just because he fights on the side of the angels doesn't mean he's one of them. In the past several doctors have identified Michael as psychologically unstable, with depression and suicidal thoughts. It is believed these stem from his feeling a lack of true purpose and feelings that his gift has become an ever lasting purgatory. It's something he now denies, and witnessing others recover an apocalypse and how the hung on to life has had a great affect on his outlook. With a new purpose in life as a vigilante only time will tell... HISTORY: PRE-APOCALYPSE Michael was born to a well off family from London, England under the name Michael Harris. in 1893 where he had a happy childhood. In 1914, At the age of 21 Michael answered the same call as millions of young men when he signed up to fight in the First World War where he was killed on the battlefields of northern France. It was at this moment that his powers manifested, creating the 'reset' point for all future deaths. He died dozens of times during the war and when he came home he found that he'd been listed in the dead during that first battle and had no home to go back to and no identity left. However his exploits had not gone unnoticed and after several years of living on the streets he was approached by the founders of a new intelligence agency specializing in people with unique abilities. As an agent of this group Michael was supplied with new aliases every few years and was sent on daring missions throughout the Second World War with the Royal Air Force, even fighting alongside Captain America on the beaches of France when his fighter was shot down. However by the 1950s Michael was ready to move on and left England to join the new American security agency named SHIELD where he became a top agent and expert in intelligence and sabotage. Michael again worked under different identities to keep up with the times as he found himself standing alongside people like Nick Fury against enemies such as the Soviet Union or Hydra. But as time went on he realised he's traded from working for one puppet master to working for another. Maybe even worse as the world got smaller and the decisions made by SHIELD seemed to get larger. During the later half of the twentieth century Michael Lazarus proved his worth to SHIELD many times operating both in the dark as a secret agent and as a field commando in open warfare. Korea, Vietnam and the Gulf war all appear on a file that doesn't exist. As well as operations against Hydra and helping capture mutants working as enemy agents. This job got more and more grating on Michael's conscience as the years went on. The final wake up call came in the early 1990's when SHIELD and the US government were becoming paranoid about the increase in mutant activity. When Lazarus was sent to put pressure on Charles Xavier to hand Jean Gray over to the SHIELD psi department for evaluation and allow full SHIELD monitoring of his institute which SHIELD suspected at the time might be a mutant training camp in league with the brotherhood. Xavier refused and in him Lazarus saw a man of moral integrity and honour who was doing good in the world. This made Lazarus angry at himself and he went AWOL for over 15 year before SHIELD agents finally caught up with him. With no way to permanently deal with the man who'd now became Michael Lazarus, a very complicated relationship developed between the head of SHIELD and his former agent. To Lazarus SHIELD was a big piece of his past that he wanted to forget, but a necessary evil that he had to deal with to continue his complicated life into the next century. To most of SHIELD Lazarus was a loose end that couldn't be cut off in the traditional way. Michael still had enough sensitive information from the last fifty years to twist the agencies arm a little and Nick Fury was never a man to just throw away something (or someone) that could be of use further down the line. Depending on how deep you look Michael Lazarus doesn't exist within SHIELD but off the books he is what Fury describes as a 'Freelancer', a person who has access to certain areas and freedoms (including diplomatic immunity) but is monitored. In this agreement Lazarus is free to go and whatever he wants as long as when the time comes and SHIELD has a mission which requires plausible deniability, they can twist his arm right back. DURING APOCALYPSE (April 7th through April 12th, 2009) During this time Michael was wandering the Earth. A non-specific pilgrimage that saw him seek out advice from religious leaders ranging from Christianity and Islam, to Hinduism and Buddism. In a quest to understand the meaning of life. He was unaware of the Apocalypse until it was too late. POST-APOCALYPSE Post-Apocalypse Lazarus returned to his home city of London, which was in chaos after the attack upon the city. Lazarus found himself operating from an abandoned SHIELD safe house which he'd used before and was now unused and in a state of disrepair so much so that SHIELD simply didn't care. He robbed his own family grave, where he'd once left a trunk of supplies, a sort of doomsday box in the form of the empty coffin buried in his original name after his body was never found. This included weapons and enough equiptment to set himself up as a vigilante. PURIFIERS Working in London, Lazarus was unaware of these events except for what he saw on television. SKRULLS Lazarus was still in London at this time. Stopping bag thieves and rapists in the more derelict parts of the city. He passed under the radar for the Skrulls and only became aware of events after the news reports on TV. It was then he decided that he needed to move his operation up a gear and relocate to New York. CURRENT HISTORY Since relocating his efforts to New York Michael Lazarus has continued his current career as a vigilante. Fighting street thugs and gang criminals as well as keeping tabs on the mutant population of the city. Using his own profiling techniques and his backdoor access to SHIELD mainframes he keeps his eyes and ears open for anything important. However he only uses his still remaining SHIELD privileges or connections when it's really needed as he knows any file he accesses or agent he contacts probably means Nick Fury knows about the current case thirty seconds later. Another reason Lazarus is 'free' is because it means if there are rumbles of something big on the street, Nick Fury has another way to know about it. Lazarus has yet to grace the doorstep of the Xavier institute but knows it's only a matter of time... Michael's current motivation is redemption. Serving the citizens of New York as their new roof top vigilante in both Manhatten and Mutant Town. SAMPLE RP POST: Michael Lazarus stood tall on the edge of a building in the more seedy end of Brooklyn, New York. As always he wore his long Royal Air Force, wool trench coat which flapped behind him in the wind. Under it he wore a black sweatshirt and a bulletproof vest. He might not be able to die for long but nobody knew the pain of being shot and stabbed like he did. Across his eyes he wore a pair of sunglasses. SHIELD sunglasses came in use on dark nights, he thought as he hit the small button on the arm which cycled between ultra-violet, infra-red and standard night vision modes which lit the dark streets below up like a christmas tree. Light enough to see a young women being dragged down an allyway... That was what Captain Michael Lazarus had been waiting for. He extended his right down towards the ledge he was standing on and fired the gas powered hook shot from its metal gauntlet on his wrist and then used the line to absale down the building, 8 floors took him less that 2 seconds as he reflected on how he'd trained a Russian redhead on the same technique years earlier while serving as her supervising training officer. No time for nostalgia now though as he ran across the busy street, leaping over the bonnets of cars as he dived into the allyway chasing after the girls screams for help. He ran round the corner and into the view of 4 men armed with knives. "Sorry to interupt boys," Lazarus said with smug confidence... "But I think the lady would prefer to dance alone tonight... I'm free for a spin though" he said making a duck faced kissy pout at the largest guy, just trying to piss him off. As two of the guys ran at him Lazarus through out a smoke grenade. Filling the tight space of the back street with a thick cloud of vision obscuring grey gas. Which was nothing to the man still wearing the 'SHIELD specs' as he high kicked the first guy in the face and then judo threw the second over his back into a dumpster. By the time the smoke cleared all four of the thugs laid on the floor bleeding and groaning. Leaving the petrified young women staring one on one with the mysterious hero in the military coat... A split second later she ran away. "Well gee, thank you mysterious stranger." Lazarus quipped to himself. As he looked at the girl run down the street. "They don't make damsels like they used to." He muttered, not realising that one of the men behind him had recovered enough to pull a gun... *bang* A few minutes later Michael awoke to a spinning world like the worst hangover imaginable. It passed within seconds and he could hear the men talking. "So what are we gunna do with the body???" One of them was asking as they argued with each other. "Was he a cop or something?" ."We can't just leave him here". They'd obviously not realised he was breathing again and of course his eyes were covered still. "Ok boys, now I'm seriously pissed!" Michael said sending the gang into a state of shock. Before they could do anything he grasped one of the men's legs between both of his own and twisted it in a martial arts move, he heard a crack as the guy went down. The other three were still in shock as they moved away... Ran away. But As Michael leapt up he pulled out his own semi-automatic and fired. Blasting a knee cap off two of them and hitting the third in a place you didn't the want to think about. As for the guy with the gun who had his shooting hand now pinned under the Captains heal? Michael pointed the gun directly down between the eyes and fired... Returning the favour. He then stepped walked away past the other three thugs clutching their wounds as he felt the still wet blood on the back of his unhurt head. "'Your getting slow," he mumbled to himself. "Your getting old" |

Hi Callum, I know most of this was accepted back in the day but bear with me as I do have some requests of my own for other areas, or clarifications. Things like the powers have already been approved, but you’re going to have to play respectfully with them and not use them for drama or just on a whim. We’ll want warning before you have him ‘die’. Two technicalities to start you off - 1, the rules code has changed since you were last here so please re-read the rules and catch the new one. 2, please don’t hotlink your character pic -it must be uploaded to a site like imageshack etc and pasted from there. The rest of my crit is as follows: 1. If you list his name in the history then you need to list it as his name. It’s fine (although its rather Wolverine) that he can’t remember his name, but us the players can know it. Same with family members. No doubt he had them at one stage and may even have great great nieces and nephews etc. 2. I’m not sure I’m okay with him being an Other who has access to all levels of SHIELD. Just putting that out there. If it’s former access and he can’t just get hold of flying cars, quinjets and information that’s fine, otherwise you’re making him too cool for school. 3. Honestly I find it weird that he dresses with 1940s British influences, but he’s been working with SHIELD/in America for so long. I know this is picky, but it’s one of a list of things that just seem overly quirky. 4. Personality - your line is about him being psychologically unstable is very throwaway and almost flippant. If he is, then I don’t want it summed up in one sentence. Is he always going to be suicidal in game? How is this actually going to impact on how you play him? Of course he’s going to be impacted by his powers, but you need to be respectful and not toss in psychological torment on a whim. 5. History - I know some of this was approved, but there are details that need to be addressed. It’s not clear here, but SHIELD would be older than STRIKE by a decade or two at least. You’re implying STRIKE existed at a time when we have never said it was around. It would have come much later on. If you want to use a British organisation, MI6 would be more appropriate for this timescale. Your history jumps from the 1950s, to going to put pressure on Xavier which would have been in the 1990s (incidentally have you asked permission to do this? Because for one thing, SHIELD does not actively monitor children and Fury does not have little girls arrested) and you have nothing in the middle. It’s a little scant is what I’m saying. I’m not sure Nick Fury would ignore a ‘problem’ by allowing him to cut loose and do what he wanted. It isn’t constructive. Especially when Lazarus vanishes. It just makes Fury look stupid. Your portrayal of SHIELD is a little hit and miss; it seems that you want things to be shaped to fit your character, rather than fitting what is already there. Apocalypse - no being captured and worshipped as a messiah. No. That does not work in the Middle East on so many levels. Post Apocalypse - why does SHIELD have an abandoned safe house in London, when London is STRIKE’s jurisdiction? And if he was a vigilante, he’d be taken in for being a pain in the arse. London had just been massively hit by Death; there’d be zero tolerance on any behaviour of that sort and STRIKE/the Army would be policing the streets. Purifiers - Doing what in London? You can't cover a plot that lasted months with a few words. It's fine if he wasn't there but what was he doing that entire time? Skrulls - again, doing what in London and why was he not influenced by the complacency wave? And again, you can't cover such a long time frame with one line. Current - again, I am not comfortable with his ready access to SHIELD. It’s like he wants to be a badass without the official label of being a SHIELD officer and be a spy without the rules that other SHIELD agents have to comply to. You need to work a lot harder on getting this up to scratch as well as the X-men links, as they’re really off the mark as of now. You are also missing almost all of the current plot while he’s running around as a vigilante. Is he going to continue this in game? What is he going to do? Why wouldn't he be arrested? Or does he have special privileges that mean he can't be? I know this seems like a lot of work compared to what it initially seemed when you came back, but the board has changed and advanced a lot in terms of plot and faction relations. I know you had words with Fury’s handler last night and I want you to take seriously what she said to you and really consider her concerns and any ideas. If you need to talk to myself or a member of staff, please get in touch, otherwise make the edits the best you can and we’ll see how the app shapes up. |

1.I've added an original name, taking away the Wolverine-ness 2. I've better defined his relationship and history with SHIELD as a you scratch my back thing. He knows stuff, they cant get rid of him, but with him on the outside and 'free' but monitored they still have a new link to what's going on at ground level and the 'access' he has is really a method to monitor him. Plus if they ever need plausible deniability they can strong arm into doing things. As a vigilante he gets immunity and freedom to travel but if he stumbles on anything big they'll know. 3. The clothing has been toned down, the 1940's coat and classic look has been brought a bit upto date with the addition of jeans etc. So it's vintage but not outdated. His coat is just a link to his past and one thing that remains stand out as a uniform rather than just being in a suit or black ops gear. 4. Personality fleshed out with more about his psychological state and how recent events have made him feel different. 5. History has been expanded and tweaked. the gap filled in, more about his current state with SHIELD and a softening/explanation of why he was sent to Xavier. |

Thanks for making the changes so far. You still need to fix the rules code, by the way. I know this is seeming like a lot of hassle, but as I said before a lot of things have changed since you were last here and we need to adhere to new facts and standards that now exist. 1. Name - I am not trying to be nitpicky, but you’re making it a really big deal that his name has been lost to the sands of time - by the way compulsory birth registration was introduced in 1853 and parish records go back centuries before this anyway so I am not buying that for an excuse - and the family. 2. Registered with SHIELD - this is kind of getting ridiculous. I am not happy with him having codes that relate to national security and he has no overall governance or anyone whom he answers to. You’re trying far too hard to make him an ultimate spy badass. As for buying an hour of airtime on CNN for birthday wishes? I think that would annoy Fury more than please him. 3. Personality - it’s looking better, but you really need to think about how his psychological state would actually impact on his standing. If he was so unstable, would he have really been an agent? Would SHIELD really have been so concerned that he ‘knows stuff’ when they can debunk him as a crazy person? I’m not saying he can’t have had a level of trauma due to his life, but if he is unstable then he’s incredibly dangerous and a risk to people and SHIELD would not just let him be wandering around as a free agent. Do you see what I’m saying? 4. History - I have to ask this, mainly for personal curiosity, but how did he keep dying and coming back in the Great War? By that I mean if he was listed as dead, how then did he rejoin the troops and carry on, repeatedly killed over and over? You need to edit a little more carefully. You’ve only taken out the name of STRIKE and left him working for a nameless organisation that could be anyone. Have you asked permission to use Jean and Xavier in this manner? I already stated, SHIELD don’t monitor kids or send agents in to put pressure on people like Xavier. If anything, SHIELD have helped young mutants in the past by putting them in the care of Xaviers, when they otherwise might have ended up in juvenile facilities. Take it out. There are still a lot of black spots in this history to be honest. But I am not sure if you’ve even taken on board most of my previous feedback. Please don’t make me feel like I’m wasting my time here. If you need help, talk to me or another member of staff, please. But you need to go back and read through my last post and take on the points I made, like for the Purifiers and the Skrulls, etc etc etc. Thank you. |

Hey, just wanted to clear something up about the SHIELD thing before I edit again because I think we're not on the right wave length here. I'm trying to say that Lazarus has the experience, the knowledge and means to access SHIELD but its only really there as part of a two way street to keep this guy under a watchful eye. He could NEVER buy an hour on CNN. That was an analogy for how many red flags would be raised if he did use any old code to get in the computers. Getting into a SHIELD file would cause a priority alert... Lazarus is not some super spy, he doesn't have codes to national security just information because he was there. The codes he does have he wouldn't want to use unless it was an emergency because he'd have a SHIELD team knocking on his door to take over whatever job he has. Does that make sense? Really he's just a street level vigilante who if he really needed to could use a SHIELD computer but then would have to deal with Coulson bringig him to the helicarrier to see what he knows. I'll take out the x-men stuff. That was just left over from before there was going to be a Jean plot but obviously that was 3 years ago. I thought that although SHIELD has a good relationship with the school now that in the early 90s there would have been much more paranoia about trusting them. When I was here before there was a group post about how 'we cant trust Fury. He's not on our side he's on his own side'. The great war records i'll change it to killed and captured and then lost in the chaos of war. There was such a fast turn over of troops I'll make it work. |

If he has experience and knowledge, that's fine but it's the way you're going about it. You're making it look like they don't change their access codes, have safe houses in cities where they probably wouldn't and he can poke about doing what he wants to because he's this ultimate badass figure. It might not be what you're trying to do but its what your app reads like in a lot of places. So, maybe you nee to show his experience in actual skills and abilities and not what he has a password for. Does that make sense? I get what you were trying to do with the school, but it doesn't fit with our timeline. Especially not in the early 90s. SHIELD's relationship with the X-men has changed several times and was at a very low ebb when it was led by Cameron Hodge around 2009/2010 period. If this was from a plot, the correct thing to do would have been to contact the players involved and seen if this was still going to work. Maybe something can be done later on, but for now it's possibly a little too much too soon and again, it's not really in keeping with the timeline. The Great War detail is just one of many things where it doesn't quite add up. Seeing as you have a few of these holes, you really do need to try and make things make sense. It's doable, but you need to take a step back and really see this as a totally clean slate and make sure everything makes sense and avoid making him a Gary Stu. I'm not trying to slam, but we'll need to see a bit more concentrated effort and a little less taken for granted. Contact me or anyone else on staff if you need help. |
