CLOTHING STYLE:Tabitha tends to dress on the sexier side of stylish, even though her clothes are usually a season or two past since she doesn't have a lot of money to spend on the latest fashions. She favors ripped jeans, short skirts, off the shoulder tops, and anything that bares her midriff. Being as tall as she is, Tabby loves spiked heels and does not own a pair of shoes that have less than a three inch heel.

UNIFORM: When she joins a team, Tabitha will wear her classic red uniform-- tank top with sweetheart neckline and short skirt, the entire thing reinforced with nomex mesh and kevlar. Around her hips is a black utility belt containing pepper spray, throwing knives, and small smoke bombs and black cat fireworks that she can set off to add flash and flair to her powers. A protective red and black leather trenchcoat covers the entire thing, starting at her shoulders and hitting the back of her ankles in the back.

POWERS

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: EXPLOSION MANIPULATION

Tabitha is a mutant who has the ability to create concussive blasts that she calls Time Bombs. These bombs explode with an impressive amount of concussive force. She can create bombs ranging in size and explosive force from small as marbles that make more of a firecracker impact (which she uses primarily for pranks) to the size of beach balls. The size of the bomb tends to indicate the amount of force, and the color of the bomb tends to indicate the intensity.

Tabitha is able to generate enough concussive force to blast through solid rock, metal, etc. When tested to her peak, Tabby can create the equivalent of a small nuclear blast, minus the radiation. Tabby can control the amount of time between creating a bomb and when it detonates, as well as mentally muffle the sound of detonation. She has recently learned to focus her blasts into concussive beams from her hands for limited amounts of time.

Bomb table:
Marble sized, yellow to baby pink: Firecracker, loud popping noise, leaves a shimmer effect behind like glitter. Could blast through wood glass or thin metal the closer to pink it gets, yellow is a pure noise maker with glittery aftermath.

Soccer ball sized, hot pink to orange: TNT type explosion. Enough of these can level brick, blast through concrete, slag steel.

Beach Ball sized, deep red to crimson: Tends to throb or pulse in the air. These are the nuke effects, leaving small mushroom clouds in their wake and leveling the ground in a 50 ft radius from the point of detonation. These also leave Tabby unconscious if she fired off more than 2 at a time.

Beams: New power, tend to only come in yellow to hot pink range of intensity, and only can be fired up to 25 feet away from Tabitha's hands. Have more of a fire/pure plasma type destruction than concussive impact.

WEAKNESS:
Explosion manipulation: While Tabitha can re-absorb the energy she uses to make her time bombs, she is not immune to her own blasts nor the fall out from them. She must make sure she herself is covered before setting off the big boom or she will be just as blown to pieces as her victim. Overuse of her powers results in a collapsed and unconscious Tabitha for a minimum of 48 hrs.

Potential:: Tabitha doesn't really need to grow in her abilities, so much as in her personality. She has total control over her explosions, but does she have total control over herself?

PERSONALITY
There are many layers to Tabitha Smith. She tends to not know herself as well as she likes to pretend she does, and therefore tends to attempt to cloak herself in an air of mystery. In all reality though, she wears her heart on her sleeve and her emotions on her face able to be read like an open book. She has had a difficult life and doesn't like to talk about it, but if you're tenacious enough to actually get her to confide in you, you have earned a friend for life. She is bluntly honest, often to the point of brutality, but never intentionally mean or malicious. Feisty and a bit hot tempered, Tabby can be a handful to get under control when she loses her temper. Especially if she starts counting down or saying "tick tick tick BOOM¨. Tabitha has a good heart, she is just very guarded when it comes to protecting it from being hurt again.

Tabby is a bit of an adrenaline junkie, trying anything once just for the thrill of it . She loves to skydive (it is her passion!) and has taken enough lessons to become jump certified. Next on her list is bunjee jumping, followed by space jumping, followed by spelunking.. The bigger the thrill the more it draws her in. She is very abrasive in her honesty, but also very compassionate and loyal. Tabs is the first to give a shoulder to cry on, as well as the first to punch whomever made you cry in the mouth. She smokes cigarettes when she is stressed, or when someone or something brings up her family.

Tabby once even exploded a television screen while the news was on because "It was a stupid story¨ (In reality, her father was being interviewed about the mutant situation and claimed his daughter was dead because he was disgusted by Tabitha's revelation of being a mutant.) She can be a bit mercurial in her moods, when Tabby gets depressed it borders on clinical, and she has considered attempting suicide at least once. On the other hand, when she is on a high (which she usually is), she is effervescent and bubbly like champagne and her mood becomes contagious. She is happiest when the people around her that she loves are happy, and strives to give them the opportunity for joy as much as possible.

Tabitha has a bit of an inferiority complex when it comes to love. She was abused in pretty much every sense of the word by her father as a child and has difficulty at times separating sex from love. She has never had a "casual fling" because she either falls in love with the person she's being casual about, or they fall for her. When this happens, it is sure to send her running for the hills because she's convinced that she'll manage to screw it up somehow.

Tabitha often will act without thinking things completely through. She tends to lead with her heart and not her head. She has an explosive temper, meaning that Tabitha is fiercely protective of those she considers "hers". Threaten them, or put them in danger and she will blow something up that you'll be missing without thinking twice. She is insanely Big hearted. To say Tabitha takes in strays is an understatement. She is incredibly loyal, often resulting in conflicts between friends or allies where she has to choose the lesser of two evils to find the least amount of friction between parties. But sadly the middle is where she usually winds up in these conflicts, big or small...

HISTORY: PRE-APOCALYPSE Born in Roanoke, Virginia, Tabitha was the oldest child of Marty and Amanda Smith, high school sweethearts who married because Amanda got pregnant, as well as staunchly anti-mutant. When she turned five, her parents divorced, leaving Tabitha in charge of helping her alcoholic father through the issue. As a five year old girl though, Tabby didn't know what else to do besides make sure Daddy was tucked into bed each night. She found herself growing up very quickly due to taking care of her father. Marty was not the type to dry out, and he often had a hard time holding down a job at the auto mechanic shop where he worked with their neighbor Max Aaronson. Marty was very physically and verbally abusive to Tabitha, and since Amanda had left with no forwarding address it was Max who first took notice of the bruises on young Tabitha's body.

Tabby found herself hanging around the machine shop before and after school, playing video games with Max's teenage sons (and usually schooling them at Mario Kart). The Aaronson's became the family Tabitha wanted. She would close her eyes often and pretend Max was her real dad. This became much more of a frequent fantasy when Tabby hit puberty and started growing into a lovely young woman. Marty tried once to crawl into Tabitha's bed instead of the bottle. Terrified of what was happening, Tabby screamed for help and triggered her powers to manifest. The small explosion she set off scarred her father and left him with his right hand amputated. Tabby's memory blocked the event, with the exception of Max pulling her out of the fire her powers had started in the trailer where she and her father lived. For a few weeks, she stayed with the Aaronson's until adequate foster care was provided. Tabby didn't want to say goodbye, but seeing as she had little to no choice in the matter she was taken into custody and contented herself with writing to Max and his boys on a regular basis.

Tabitha was placed in a series of foster homes, each one not too bad until they discovered her X-gene secret and turned her back over to the system. If they didn't turn her over to the system though, eventually Tabby would become restless and start acting out. She had no positive outlet for her mutation--and she was afraid of it a little bit as well. Tabby began to experiment with the different types of blasts she could make, often tormenting her peers with firecracker explosions that she called "innocent pranks". She took a job as a bus girl to earn some money and systematically began stuffing her mattress with it. By the age of fifteen, Tabitha had squirreled away enough money to buy a bus ticket and ran away to New York to strike out on her own.

Life in the city though, was tougher than she thought it would be. For starters everything was so much more expensive! After a week in a hostile, Tabby returned to find her meager belongings stolen, along with the rest f her money. She considered writing Max for some cash, but didn't want to burden him (or give the authorities any idea of where she'd run away to.) Instead, Tabby took to living on the streets, sleeping on subway grates or sneaking into the castle in Central Park when the weather turned colder. She found an old broken accoustic guitar in a dumpster and taught herself to play after shoplifting some wood glue to fix the neck. Tabby started singing in the park for money, spare change, seeing how much she could earn on her raw talent. She started making friends with other street kids, taking in a few who were younger than her or hadn't figured out how to do things like protect themselves. This little gang of predominately female streetrats started calling themselves the "Fagan's Gang", and working together to keep sheltered and fed. Around this time, Tabby also began to indulge in the use of her powers again. If someone tried to attack her, Tabby would fight back with her fists, her feet and her abilities. She would never use her powers to kill or maim, only to frighten off the thugs who would take advantage of her or any of the kids she'd deemed "hers". She hooked up with another gang run by Vanisher called the Fallen Angels, and Tabitha made a bit of a street cred name for herself on her own this way, going by "Time Bomb¨. She found she was quite adept at stealing to survive, and while she longed for a normal family life and the comfort and safety of a home she had also learned exactly how deep those wounds would cut if she ever let anyone that close to her again. Her fellow Angels and Fagans kids were the exception, but even they only got so close.

DURING APOCALYPSE (April 7th through April 12th, 2009)
Tabitha had been off and on lovers with a fire manipulator since they met. Tabitha didn’t believe in true love, but she did feel very strongly puled towards him and took great pride in being the only person who could make him smile. She loved him in a clearly dysfunctional “sex is how I can express love” way and actually found herself drawn to him like a moth to flame. He gets Tabitha on a level no one ever has, and that is something she found incredibly tough to let go of. But she did let go of him during this time because while Tabby was a bit of a mischief maker, her boy was beyond that and became something of a rabble rouser during the Apocolypse years. During the hurricane that swept New York, Tabitha did her best to get as many street living mutants like herself out of danger and into shelters. At one point she took a few younger kids to the sewers, seeking sanctuary among the "mythical" Morlocks, and eventually found herself holed up in a church with 6 or 7 other kids to look after until the storm passed.

POST-APOCALYPSE
Tabitha remained in New York and did her best to help with the rebuilding of the city. She took several jobs in construction, often using her explosions after hours to help with demolitions that would have cost the city more money than it should have, and began working nights at a gentleman's club called Delilah's Den. One of her regular patrons figured out she was a mutant thanks to her explosive demonstration during her performance one night and suggested she register with SHIELD. Interested in what -exactly- SHIELD was, Tabby considered registering.

The loss of her "firebird" as she called her now ex and possibly dead former lover hit Tabby on a personal level and hit her harder than she thought it would. She realized that she had been missing something in her life, and that while their relationship was toxic at best it also was something she missed-- being close to someone. Having someone who had your back regardless. Tabitha found that the closest thing she could get to the feeling of adoration (because she wouldn't call it love, that didn't exist) you could get from another person was the love of a crowd cheering and clapping after a good performance. She began to alter her routines at Delilah's-- to be more reminiscent of the burlesque dancers of old like Gypsy Rose Lee or modern day Dita Von Tease-- she would sing while she danced, and yes her clothes came off but usually behind a scrim to give the audience a tease. And shockingly, the patrons loved it. She took to working more during the day as a waitress in a diner and trying to find a way to be able to perform in other venues where she could sing and keep her clothes ON.

PURIFIERS
Tabitha viewed herself as lucky during the Purifier's incident because she could easily pass for human. She managed to get off the streets most of the time and continued working at the diner and strip club, keeping her powers to herself and only using them when she or someone she cared about was in danger. She again began considering registering with SHIELD, having met one of their operatives in the club ironically during shore leave. Plus she felt that if she was open about her mutation, maybe she could find a way to use it to help the kids she took care of on the streets. Maybe she could open a shelter of her own for mutant street rats, or something like that-- maybe she'd find a way to finish high school and be more than a stripper. Go to college, study music, make a difference in a real positive way instead of struggling to survive.

Unfortunately, she arrived at the appointed registration site the same day the faked photos of Alex Summers fighting War were released to the media. Going on her past history and fearing the backlash of an Anti-mutant frenzy, Tabby changed her mind and never showed up for her appointment. Instead, she moved from the shelter she'd been living in back to roughing it on her own on the streets, figuring life off the radar was safer. She hated herself for being so cowardly. Tabby did what she could to diffuse tensions, and try and ease some of the backlash and anti- mutant sentiment in the city due to the Purifiers. She kept mostly to herself at this point because she knew she was going to do something stupidly dangerous and didn't want anyone else getting blamed should she get caught. During one of the anti-mutant rallies, Tabby detonated three of her time bombs beneath the raised platform the speakers were addressing the crowd on, as well as several of her harmless firecrackers among the crowd to frighten and disperse them. And then she ran. For her life.

SKRULLS
The mere idea of an alien invasion struck Tabby as something so far fetched it had to be true simply because nobody could ever make that much of a lie up. She decides to search for her father or her mother, to see if reconcilliation would ever be possible. If the world is going to be invaded by aliens, surely they'd hate aliens more than mutants, right? Her search lead her to an abandoned orphanage in Mutant Town, where the file room had been ransacked. Tabitha discovered she has a sister out there, somewhere, that her mother gave up for adoption back when Tabby was only seven. She was filled with immediate questions-- who is this girl, is she a mutant too, why did her mother give her up, and mostly-- where was she?

It was around this time that the complacency wave hit, and TAbitha forgot about reconciling with her parents. No, everything was going to be peachy keen with the Skrulls in charge, yup yup yup. Tabitha found herself agreeing with things she never had before, not being bothered by prejudice or injustice, condemning the kids who stole to survive, and not even realizing just how out of character this was for her.

When she recovered though-- the only way to explain how she felt was ashamed. Tabitha knew she'd never really been much in the way of a game changer, but she'd always held tight to the things she believed and fought for what she thought was right-- in her own smaller way that is. Now though, she felt completely used. She felt much like she did back in the trailer dragging her intoxicated father into his bed. And she'd sworn she'd never let herself be victimized like that again, hadn't she?

Tabby made a decision then. She was going to be more than just a stripper and a waitress. She was going to do more than lead a rag tag group of runaways to cover their own butts and keep safe. She was a mutant, and damn it she needed to do something with the gift she'd been given.

Only-- what?

She didn't like the Brotherhood--the stories she'd heard made her stomach turn even if they'd be the ones who'd most likely find her type of abilities useful. And she was nowhere near important enough to try and become an X-Man. They were heroes, and she'd never even finished High School! No, if she was going to do this, she needed to do it the right way.

Very quietly, Tabitha started looking for trouble. A purse snatching here, an attempted mugging of a mutant girl there. And when she found it, she gave them trouble right back in spades. Or in explosions. Whatever you felt like calling it.

CURRENT HISTORY
Tabitha has spent the time since discovering the existance of her sister working. She still occasionally takes the odd demolition site job, but most of her income comes from dancing at the strip club and waiting tables on the weekends in a few odd college diners. She has been known to use her powers to help in a crisis-- especially if she comes across a damsel in distress or a man attempting to force himself on a woman.

New Years Eve changed that though. Tabitha had managed to make her way to Times Square with the plan to find a stranger, make out with him or her at midnight, and kick the new year off in style. She didn't plan on all the water. Or the chaos.

Things were going haywire and people were getting hurt, and she could do nothing. Or she could do something.

Something won out in the end. Tabby did her best to help herd people out of danger, organize crowd control, and keep her powers on lockdown. But the more chaotic things got the harder it was for her to control her emotions and eventually she retreated to her hideout in the park to try and get her head together. Plus-- she needed to make sure her streetkids were safe.

For the past few months, Tabby had made friends with a regular customer at the diner named Bobby Da Costa. When he first started showing up, she was sure he was just trying to get in her pants. But over time, as the return visits got more familiar, it became obvious that Bobby was not in the best of places. And that Tabby was a great listener. She listened when he'd sort of open up about his problems and did her best to be supportive. An honest friendship grew between them, even though they really didn't know anything about the other except what they'd discussed in the privacy of the diner.

So one night, Tabitha confessed. She told Bobby she was homeless. She was a mutant. And she was something of a vigilante. And she hoped that wouldn't kill their friendship.

(OOC Sunspot friendship cleared with player, thanks Berto!)

SAMPLE RP POST:

The Wrong Side of the Bed

Every hero had their own personal nemesis, and it looked as if Boom-Boom had found hers. Tabitha Smith wasn't going to handle this poorly though, like an immature child who had no idea how to wield the power she had been gifted. No... that would be something far to amateur for the likes of the southern firecracker. Instead, she would handle it like the consumat professional that she was striving to be.

Unleashing a flurry of vicious kicks and punches into her enemy, she found it had few weaknesses. The blonde bombshell more than once wound up bounced into the wall by her adversary, and the bruises were beginning to stand out against here skin sharply. She fought with a fury few had seen, until her anger got the better of her and she sank against the wall in frustration.

Her sky blue eyes turned to appraise the scenario once more. Oh how she loathed the bane of her existance. To think she'd meet her match in this form.

A Sleep Number Bed mattress, queen sized, that was wedged so perfectly inside her door that the lilthe and tiny redhead had no hope of moving the monstrous foam enemy.

"Ok, now you listen here ya jackass. Yer sole purpose in life is fer me to sleep with you, an we can't possibly begin ta do tha til ya get yer arse in the bedroom. Though, to be honest an fair-- right about now all Ah wanna do is scream at ya and see if mah voice can make ya move, or if Ah'm jest gonna explode ya in a zillion pieces that Ah'll have ta clean up later."

One last kick proved useless as Tabby turned around, to find she was no longer alone in the hall. Who should be witnessing her make an utter fool of herself (but honestly what else was new?) than the man she'd come to befriend over the last year, and who ultimately in the end had helped to get her here in the first place.

"Ya know--it may not look it, but Ah had it sorted. Ya should see the suitcase an wardrobe that messed with me earlier." Humor was her defense when she felt defenseless, and yes the new girl in town was nervous about making friends. Better for them to laugh with her before they could laugh at her, right?

Her lightly tanned arms wound around his neck then and she clung to him in a hug so tight and close it was like Tabitha was trying to cram several years of emotional isolation into that single expression of emotion.

Three words slipped from her lips in a whisper against his chest.

"IAh missed you."

Hey Sandy,

Thanks for applying to XMR! It'll be great to see Tabby in play. However, there are some rough areas in this app so you'll need to bear with me.

1. Rules code, you need it ;)

2. Is Tabby bi in canon? It isn't that important, but you're playing up her sexual side so I just want to know if you have reasons other than a broader scope of flirting.

3. Powers - the psychic block was purely a Nextwave thing and doesn't exist out of it and does not make sense with the rest of Tabby's powers so I'd rather you removed it.

4. Personality - it's not bad overall, but starting any personality with 'Tabitha is a question wrapped in a mystery and bound in an enigma or so she likes to say. ' is incredibly cliched. She also comes across as a little bipolar and while it's understandable she has issues and problems connecting with people, don't toss in suicide attempts too casually. That sort of thing always needs to be treated with dignity.

5. History - the early history lacks a little depth. While the abuse from her father is canon, implying it turned sexual and the subsequent results seem just for drama as there isn't much else there.

Who is Max by the way? He suddenly saves her, but you throw him in randomly.

Teenagers run away all the time, but how did she live? How was she able even get to New York? How was she not caught? How did she get this rep? It's a little vague, overall.

Post Apocalypse - Alex's revelation as War happened during the Purifiers plot, so while this could be motivation for her to not register, it wouldn't be at that point. You need to expand most of the sections after Apocalypse, not necessarily by a great deal, but you need to really give her background more fleshing out, as right now there is not much to her.

Purifiers - Okay, so she managed to pass for normal in her club, but had she no concerns or feelings for the mutant community? This plot was a span of several months too, so even if she had no reaction at all, was she just shaking her butt the entire time?

Skrulls - This section really confuses me. The skrulls revelation to the world was very quickly followed by the complacency wave as well, which would have had an impact on her. What about the half sister? Is this ever going to come into game? Or is it more drama.

Current - you need to try and get in some of the Illuminati plot, as I mentioned in cbox:

http://z4.invisionfree.com/Xrevolution/ind...showtopic=13913

You can stick to the NYC relevant ones, but you need something that anchors her down as being aware of the big bad world.

Finally, the sample. While I am not totally adverse to people recycling pieces of writing, you need a sample that shows how you are going to play the character here and not how you play them in a totally different context.

Honestly I am not sold on stripper Tabby, but this is predominantly to do with the lack of depth you have gone into around the site plots and her history as a whole. The sections jump around so I want you to take your time and really make this flow more effectively. You don't need to give a novel, but you do need to give more. Remember to treat her difficult history elements with respect and dignity otherwise it is drama for drama.

Don't take this to heart; it's not terrible and its nothing that can't be smoothed out. If you need help, please contact me or another member of staff. Otherwise just post a response when you're done. Thanks.

This is better, but I am a little dubious about how much attention you seem to pay to her stripper/sexy side. Just don't let it be the only thing about her because right now its very defining and you don't want to get stuck with a label. We have canons who have gone down a different path to the comics which is why I am not saying no, just do your best to make it work in play.

In terms of recruitment, if you want to be full X-men you need to talk to Cyclops player. Without time/training at the Institute it'll be a little harder but not utterly impossible. If you want to go on the Legacy Squad, talk to Marvel Girl's player.

I'm going to stamp you, as I think while you have some rough areas, the best way for you to smooth things out will be in game, with practice. Another admin might have something to say but I do not.

Sorry for the wait.

I'm going to stamp this but I am going to start Boom Boom off as a Senior Student, not as an X-Man. If you want to work up to the field team, you have to prove it to me.
