December 8th 5pm For the past... God knows how long, rest had been something difficult to come by. Even though some of the rules and regulations that the other agents had saddled on them didn't exactly apply to her, Zita was still bound by an arrangement she and the big bossman agreed to some time ago. Well actually she didn't really have a choice in the matter unless she wanted to remain in a cramped up cell for the rest of her life. With all of the craziness that had been going on with the world she, like many others, had been run ragged. At least, for the time being there was a quiet. The Illuminati threat was finished, but who was to say that something even more dangerous wasn’t right around the corner. So when moments like this were presented it was wise to grab them and hold on for as long as possible. In troubling times it was hard to forget to come up for a breather. Otherwise one could wind up as little more than a workhorse, heeding when called. Zita sat silently in a research and development lab, drawing away on the digital work pad resting in her lap. Once upon a time she used to be a very good artist up until she joined the mercenary ranks and began applying her creativity to another more deadly art. Judging by the half finished portrait of her mother, her tamer artistic skills had not completely diminished over the years. However, she still had a ways to go before getting back to the level she once sat. Her hazel colored eyes lifted from her creation to gaze at a technician, holding up a silver ring. “How much longer is it going to be, Fletcher?” asked Zita. The technician peered at her through the ring. “Patience is a virtue, Rivera. Crafting your rings to distribute liquids is going to take some time. Go back to doodling or whatever you were doing over there.” To everyone else, the rings that she wore looked like ordinary silver bands, but the inside of each one was made of a different material such as diamond or concrete. It was a genius design that allowed her to change forms and heal quickly without having to find a source of whatever material she’d taken on. “I’m drawing my mother, but the eyes aren’t coming out right.” She held up the pad and took a good hard look at it and the picture of her mother on the side. “Damn… not even close.” She sighed heavily then erased them. This was supposed to be a time of relaxation. Right now she was more on the annoyed side. |
