Several scars. UNIFORM: Sacred Vibranium Armor of the Wakandan Panther Cult. POWERS & ABILITIES: T'Challa was born human. The X-Gene does not flow in his blood and T'Chall is not a mutant. The warrior known as Black Panther is gifted superhuman traits after eating a traditional Heart-Shaped Herb cultivated and grown only in Wakanda. This tradition is passed down from Black Panther to Black Panther and is heavily guarded as only the king has a right to consume it. Consumption of the Panther's Heart grants the Black Panther with superhumanly acute senses and increased strength and speed. While highly athletic without the need for the herb, his strength, speed, stamina, reflexes, and agility are raised beyond Olympic-levels with it. Black Panther has also studied African martial arts since the day he could walk and has mastered contemporary fighting styles along the way, often merging multiple stances to create his own. While a gifted fighter, gymnast and acrobat, T'Challa's great strength comes from his modern thought process. He is considered one of the smartest people on the planet with a degree in physics and advanced technology. The herb also enables him to enter a meditative process in which he theorizes a literal connection with past Black Panthers. He is a brilliant scientist whose genius assists with others skills such as hunting and tracking. As a politician his strategies go unmatched by those who would threaten his rule of Wakanda. Utilizing his high intellect, T'Challa has modified the ancestral vibranium armor to a degree that it could rival any mutant or superhumans powers in terms of defense. It could withstand strong blasts and is nearly invulnerable. Many hidden pockets offer a wide array of weaponry stored in his person. The armor is hardly ever a hindrance but that doesn't mean his strength goes unmatched. T'Challa's greatest weakness is that he is human. He must consume the Panther's Heart daily or runs the risk of crashing. HISTORY: For 14 years the secretive prides of Africa have thrived and prospered under the rule of a wise and generous king. T'Challa, chieftain of the Wakandan tribes and protector of his people's way of life as the Black Panther, a hereditary title earned after defeating his uncle S'Yan and successfully completing the ritual trials of Wakanda, is responsible for bringing modern thought to an ancient civilization. While Wakanda embraced tradition, King T'Challa sought after modernization looking to advance his country in order to equalize its military against the rest of the world should war rain down upon them. Wakanda's tribal government and archaic culture persists but thanks to T'Challa, Wakanda also possesses technology that could be considered more sophisticated than anywhere else on Earth. But it wasn't always this way. The myth and rituals of Wakanda go back to a date unknown by her people. What is known is that long ago, a huge rock fell from the sky. It crashed upon the Earth and with it came a fire that obliterated any life nearby. Years later, a small tribe of people happened upon this magic stone blessed upon the travelers by a Panther God named Bast. Thus, the Panther Cult was born. Word spread to neighboring camps and more tribes took up arms and joined the crusade, traveling to the small mountain to appease Bast. Soon groups of clans came in droves to set up camp around the mountain and began to fight amongst one another to lay claim to Bast's great gift. The Chief, and first Black Panther, of the Panther Cult at the time is credited for bringing an end to these skirmishes after displaying feats and abilities that could only be possessed by a servant of Bast. Reluctant peace was forged and on the red lands of Africa, under the guidance of Bast, Wakanda was born. Most generations of kings and people that followed never questioned this ancestral tale passed down from father to son. They accepted it as truth and worked to seclude Wakanda from the rest of the world. Great walls were built around the nation, camouflaged to hide amongst the bush of the jungle. Those that tread too close for comfort, were dealt with accordingly, most never seen again. Wakanda remained off the radar as nations were formed worldwide. Even the African government remained unaware of its existence or played ignorant for fear of the viciousness they would release should they try to invade. For decades, Wakanda closed its doors from the outside world and remained relatively unevolved. Great minds existed within but were constantly forbidden from thinking outside the box. It wasn't until T'Chaka, T'Challa's father, took the throne at an early age that the gates were metaphorically swung open. T'Chaka went against the governing tribal council and expressed concerns at how undeveloped Wakanda truly was. He began to accept science over faith and it was he that went against Wakandan law and spoke against her beliefs. T'Chaka claimed that the magic rock that fells from the sky was not a gift from the Panther God Bast but instead was a meteorite caught in the Earth's gravitational field. He never claimed that Gods did not exist but only that what they thought were blessings were actually natural disasters in disguise. He revealed the power of the Black Panther as the heart shaped herb cultivated only in the equatorial region of Africa known as Wakanda. T'Chaka went a step further and voiced his wishes about building a factory that would excavate the rich mineral vibranium for profit, which is what the meteorite was enriched with. These facts did not go over well and the truths were fiercely rejected. The young King T'Chaka had the resolution to go through with his promises of turning the lightswitch on the darkened skies of Wakanda had it not been for his future Queen, N'Yami. Soon the squabbles and arguments leveled out as T'Chaka's love for N'Yami forced him to see how dangerous the truth was to Wakanda. Unfortunately, in order for him to prove his point, some vibranium ended up outside Wakanda's walls and into the hands of hunters looking to make a fortune. Suddenly the myths of secret tribes and the fierce spiritual warrior that protected them became a bit more real. For years Wakanda continued as it was; Closed off from the rest of the world. The seeds had been planted and there was no going back as the younger generation had taken side with T'Chaka truths. This younger generation would eventually have the voice needed to lead them into a new age and that voice would belong to T'Chaka's son with N'Yami. T'Challa. T'Chaka had given up hope of fathering an heir to the throne. They tried for many years after they wed but never conceived. T'Chaka and N'Yami were desperate for a child so they adopted a parentless boy and named him Hunter. It had been decided that he would take up the crown until N'Yami revealed that she was pregnant after all. T'Challa was a true blessing and T'Chaka's faith had been restored. That faith would soon be tested when, on the day of his son's birth, N'Yami passed away. Complications at birthed left N'Yami at the mercy of primitive medicinal procedures. Without the proper medicine, N'Yami died when she could've been saved. The people loved N'Yami and because of this T'Challa's birth was immediately met with criticism as he was labeled a curse. His family rejected him, the people disliked him and Hunter, who realized he would now never be king, despised him. T'Chaka, however, loved him. T'Challa would be raised to think modernly. He would be taught the ways of his people but would also be taught the ways of the outside world. T'Chaka decided before T'Challa began his education, that he would be the first to study abroad in a school outside of Wakanda. The elders of Wakanda continued to resist while the youngsters of the tribe envied their future king. T'Challa was raised to be an insightful thinker but also a ferocious warrior. From a young age he was taught the ways of the Panther and learned the history of the men that wore the Black Panther eyes before him. He was taught math, science, astronomy and whatever was known about the true history of the world. From a young age it was clear that the spirits of the Black Panther's before T'Challa were in the boy as he was intelligent and wise beyond his years. Life would be relatively peaceful in Wakanda. T'Chaka would remarry a woman named Ramonda and father a second child, Jakarra. It was clear that T'Chaka, as powerful and great as he was, was losing touch with the tribes. His concern over his family came first above all and this allowed for civil unrest to occur. S'Yan, brother to T'Chaka and uncle to T'Challa, began conspiring against him in an effort to undermine his brother king. S'Yan was not an evil man. His only fault was the love he had for Wakanda and his unwillingness to see it tainted by the politics of the outside world. Change was the true enemy in his eyes. When, T'Challa was thirteen, S'Yan allowed a Dutchman plunderer of vibranium named Ulysses Klaw to infiltrate the camp. Klaw had been searching for Wakanda for many years after small deposits of vibranium ended up on the black market with tales of its origins. Ulysses looked to annihilate the primitive tribes that guarded the small mountain hidden in the middle of Narobia, Uganda, Kenya, Somalia, and Ethiopia, unafraid of a man in a Panther mask. S'Yan looked to show his brother how harmful allowing the outside world in could really be. Klaw appeared like a raging fire with men with automatic weapons. The spears and arrows of Wakanda did little to defend her and Wakanda was in danger of falling victim to this atrocity. T'Chaka donned the Black Panther cowl for the last time as he single-handedly ended the invasion by eliminating the opposition. However, he was mortally wounded and when the time came to face Klaw, he was murdered. Witnessing the crime, young T'Challa ate a handful of the herb and managed to catch Klaw off-guard, maiming the Dutchman with his own weapon and driving him away. S'Yan felt a strong guilt over what happened but the truth would not be revealed at that time. Instead, S'Yan would be crowned and the helm of the Black Panther handed over to him. This appeased the tribal council as with S'Yan the talks about modernization would end. S'Yan's guilt would take hold and because of this he attempted to redeem himself by granting T'Chaka his final wish and sent T'Challa to study abroad. T'Challa left under the alias Luke Charles and lived the life of an ordinary boy. His secret remained a secret for 11 years. in fact, Wakanda was quickly becoming a distant memory. He was labeled a genius and became one of the 8 smartest teenagers in the world. He was exceptional in every aspect in his life but especially physics and advance technology. He continued to train as his handlers would not allow him to get out of shape but that part of his life where he would wear the Black Panther armor and fend off threats of carrying degrees would remain a secret, even to Monica Lynne. T'Challa would be king! But Luke Charles would be married with children, living the life a man with a Ph.D. in Physics could afford. Unfortunately, Luke was only a dream and though he fought it, T'Challa had a destiny. At the age of 26, after incorporating the knowledge he gained from living with the outsiders with that taught to him by his father, T'Challa returned to Wakanda... With Monica Lynne. His return was not celebrated by the old guard as he let an outsider in. They refused to crown the rightful king fearing an outsider would be queen. The young guard rushed to his side to hear the stories he had to offer and they were not disappointed. T'Challa returned with grand ideas of improvement and immediately began to implement them as if he wore the crown already. S'Yan held the tribal council back for as long as he could but eventually his allegiance was questioned. Seeing no alternative. S'Yan sent the corrupt Hatut Zeraze to detain the young prince. Hunter, who was now head of this secret police was more than happy to do so. As Hunter carried out S'Yan's orders, T'Challa did not resist. He went willingly and appeared before the people, the Tribal Council, S'Yan and declared his right to undertake the ritual trials of Wakanda. The old guard could not go against the regulations they enforced and therefore, T'Challa was allowed to exercise his right. The ritual trials were difficult and many believed he would not come back from them as they viewed his travels into the outside world as a weakness but they refused to see that his greatest strength was not what he learned but what he cared for. T'Challa proved that he was king by accomplishing the feats, ending his campaign by defeating his uncle S'Yan in hand to hand combat and earning the right to become the Black Panther. T'Challa would be king but immediately after his victory Hunter and his Hatut Zeraze laid siege to Wakanda. Hunter carried out the coup in hopes of crowning himself. T'Challa witnessed another lost one destroyed by envy as Hunter plunged a knife deep into the chest of his then fiancee Monica. T'Challa looked to his uncle who supported him as he chewed on the heart shaped herb that granted T'Challa superhuman traits. He donned the mask of the Black Panther for the first time and defeated his adopted brother. T'Challa's rage pushed him to murder, but as he stared down at his bloodied and beaten brother, he remembered the words of his father and allowed him to live; Instead choosing to disband the Hatut Zeraze and exile them and Hunter forever. Monica would pass away days later after once again falling victim to Wakanda's primitive medical facilities. Before she would pass she would make T'Challa promise to not forget the teachings of his father but to also not forget what he learned with her. T'Challa would bury her and he would keep her promise. He immediately began reshaping Wakanda's state. While the rest of the world fell victim to acts of terrorism and global threats, Wakanda entered a new age of peace. Certain parts of the world would be plunged into darkness while the light shone brightly over Wakanda. The huts remained but the military formed would advance to great heights. Wakanda would become a global power laced in such secrecy that words of such a country would be labeled myth. 9 years would pass and in those 9 years, Wakanda prospered and enlightened minds accepted the new world handed to them by a king that seemingly knew better than his forefathers. Once everything settled and the civil unrest and tribal arguments were things of the past, T'Challa remembered the promises of his father and the promise he made to Monica. Now that Wakanda was a superpower that could very well be unrivaled by any other country in the world, the gates of Wakanda would open to certain dignitaries as T'Challa looked to inject Wakanda into matters of the world. |
