PLAYER INFORMATION NAME: Ochen CONTACT: PM preferred HOW YOU FOUND US: Adverts OTHER CHARACTERS ON THE SITE N/A (Aspire to some day apply for NPC Sue Storm) RULES CODE: Blackbird CREDIT WHERE IT'S DUE: CHARACTER INFORMATION ![]() Represented by: Jada Pinkett-Smith BASIC INFORMATION CANON OR ORIGINAL: Canon AFFILIATION: SHIELD (Defenders) FULL NAME: Cecilia Reyes CODENAME: - NICKNAMES: Dr. Reyes, Celia (to close family and friends) CURRENT AGE: 34 DATE OF BIRTH: 24th of December MARITAL STATUS: Single SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Heterosexual BASE OF OPERATIONS: SHIELD Headquarters [England] TIME AT INSTITUTE: - REGISTERED WITH SHIELD? Naturally HOMETOWN: New York City, New York [Spanish Harlem] KNOWN RELATIVES: Miguel Reyes [brother] PHYSICAL APPEARANCE HEIGHT: 5'7" BUILD: There isn't much extravagance to Cecilia's build, for she is a rather average woman, not specifically in height but also in gait, with a narrow waist, long limbs and a lean, lithe sway to her personage complimentary to her long distance running and training as a member of SHIELD. However for this lack of intimidation she offsets with a stern beauty, her honeyed mocha complexion, eyes of tawny greenish amber and her considerable ability to somehow loom over the opposition physically when it comes to opinions both medical and otherwise certainly something to remark about. EYES: Hazel HAIR: Dark brown [worn long with sheared bangs, occasionally woven into micro-braids] DISTINGUISHING MARKS: - CLOTHING STYLE: Long ago, or so it would seem are the days of obscured blue-green surgery scrubs, the expected comfortable blouse, trousers, occasional skirt and comfortable no-slip medical clogs and white lab coat. Instead Cecilia has firmly branched outward, finding that in the past with relatively no social life aside from the office or trauma bay, surgery table or post-op rounds she was unable to really promote any sensible panel of her own deemed fashion. At present she has progressed to a less regal bearing, finding aesthetics in soft pastels, pencil skirts, slim-line trousers and a decent set of heels. UNIFORM: Cecilia rarely dons a SHIELD uniform, quite often providing triage assistance and defensive perimeters during field missions. While on the field she bears a Kevlar weighted neutral uniform that labels her as an experienced field medic, it contains an field pack that loops and holsters around her shoulder and the appropriate designations of her medical calibre. POWERS GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Cecilia Reyes abilities have manifested in the realm of defensive capabilities with her mutant gene enabling her the support of a psioplasmic biofield. This rapport of mutation sheathes her person in a translucent field of impenetrability, subconsciously activated and capable of withstanding extreme temperatures, psionic forces, crushing pressures and kinetic energy signatures it retracts into her personage at point in which she no longer is threatened and only tangibly metastasizes on point of threat to her personage. This field isn't sole to her individual, she is able to formulate it around others as well, sheathing others or objects within a certain radius of a few meters. From an aesthetics route this field is translucent, shining in a myriad of colors in forms of varying light sources (a prismatic effect when in use). While constantly surrounding her body at all times, it is untraceable when not activated and in theory can be useful for offensive strikes as well. Cecilia is able to don this armor as more than just a base covering and extend the field to form lobes around limbs for sparring, bladed weapons, expulsion projectiles and rams. In relation to resistance, this bioplasm can withstand up to a ton in metric pressure, kinetically distributing the rapid blows of gunfire, implosions and impacts evenly over the diameter of the shield. Should she be rendered unconscious it will stay aloft for up to five minutes or until such a time that she recovers and thus retain it's dormant/reactive status. Otherwise, without some sort of baseline awareness she will be rendered vulnerable. In correlation to type-specific blows it is reasonable that anything up to large scale explosive fire is semi-tolerable with the obvious forms of impact providing derisive amounts of pain and varying states of recovery. Something such as, let us say, machine gun fire would result in Cecilia's projections up to a period of a few minutes, as where impacts and concussives, such as grenade fire (though neuronically painful would enable her to recover more proficiently as these attacks would only be solitary blows versus consistent assaults (in theory). Permeable and more invasive means would effectually disable her shields, though her mutation does in fact have learning capabilities and evolves to counteract all assaults upon breach. WEAKNESS: An extension of her person, Cecilia's shield has resonance and by proxy thus feels each and every impact upon it. As a result extensive damage and actions upon her fields can result in a exorbitant amount of psychosomatic trauma. While she has undergone training to extend the limits of what she can withstand continued or large scale blows can render her dizzy, nauseated, causing neural nosebleeds, unconsciousness or potentially even death. In terms of impenetrability the bio plasm has yet to defensively taper to airborne attacks and as such, without proper care she is prone to gasses, pathogens and other centralized respiratory threats. As well as this her shield reach must be stemmed from point of person, she is not of the ability to detachedly project shields, she must extend them. PERSONALITY Beneath the anesthetized disposition of Cecilia Reyes, beyond winnowed layers of professional modicum, a thirst for knowledge and the elitist, science as a savior within a consortium of definite probabilities lies a woman. First and foremost she has always considered herself a healer with the ideal focus at any given moment to her patients (regardless of any outside bias of any sort) however with present times and her acquired status as a mutant this has broadened somewhat in which her concern is not only the patients on her med bay or surgery table, but her SHIELD counterparts, the society she serves. There is a segregate, no nonsense burnish to each phrase, a meticulously placate and often scalpel-shaped forwardness to her person but never can it be said she is spiteful, void of empathy or well meaning. Cecilia may be slightly stubborn to a degree (as many physicians find themselves with a stance that they are different, can tend themselves and wounds nor sickness don't account nearly as much to their own individual). However nothing is as important to Cecilia as the roots of the unified people. Raised a woman of integrity as well as impoverished, striving hard to prove personal worth as well as living in a world of being just and fair (not always the same thing) medically, professionally and personally speaking she is often more prone to empathetic stances. In more present times she has become to a larger extent less jaded, more open to the preservation of the duty set forth via SHIELD, reattaining an emotional attachment and lowering the barriers of redundancy that often precede working in the hospital setting for lengthy amounts of time. Personal relationships to the fore, Cecilia (despite her bedside manner with patients) often finds slight difficult emotionally meeting on the level...tact not exactly being her forte, however to those she knows there isn't too much of an expectation for her not to be open albeit sometimes brutally honest as not sheathing one's opinions and feelings serves ideal purposes in said situations as well from time-to-time. HISTORY: PRE-APOCALYPSE Born to an impoverished family in Spanish Harlem, Cecilia made it a mission from a younger age to prove herself worthy in light of her father's passing in her early years of schooling. Her mother, a teacher and waitress struggled throughout the Reyes' childhood, working countless hours in order to give her children a more simple but no less loved upbringing. Cecilia in specific had difficulties throughout her younger years (having seen her father first handedly gunned down by a gang member) and it would be this incident that would prove crucial to the formulation of her dream of becoming a physician. However, while she took to her studies and aspired for a pre-med degree her brother took to joining the military and their parting would never settle favorably for they were always close as children. This relationship actually maintained itself for some time until their mid twenties in which he would transfer overseas and she would steadily lose contact. Nevertheless she would, to her credit be received within many of the finest medical programs in the Northeastern area, finally settling within her home city of New York. Still helping to support her mother Cecilia would work in a small patient care clinic, braving the rough neighborhood and long hours to help put food on the table and pay the bills. Her mother would be her main motivator, providing strength and resolve in the long wake of a missed father and a self-estranged sibling. After years of internship and becoming resident, eventually passing her boards beneath the eaves of study and hard work of Our Mother of Mercy Hospital of downtown New York City, Cecilia would gain the financial means to help her mother buy property in upstate, urging the woman (at this age now able to retire) to enjoy the fruits of her hard work and for being such a plinth of support. In terms of mutation Cecilia's abilities (to much an extent dormant anyway) would not be made manifest until her mid years of the trauma ward in which an enraged gunman and gang member would burst onto hospital premises to finish off a rival, shooting at staff to which Cecilia in her defensive attempts would charge him, splaying her arms to save her fellow staff. The bullet would ricochet, causing her much pain, but the incident would be labeled a graze. However, months after the incident (although earning her commendations and rewards) would stir rumors of her being a mutant - a matter solidified by a public visit from one acclaimed Charles Xavier in purpose one afternoon in her office. DURING APOCALYPSE The city was well as the world in much turmoil Cecilia spent the period of chaos during the attacks of Apocalypse and his horsemen within her offices and departments, helping to manage staff as well as the deceased and wounded, providing her own mutation for support in whatever capacities while aiding her fellow medical professionals treating patients and offering emergency shelter to those now homeless or caught on the streets. Moreover she would volunteer in the relief efforts following the widespread EMP and hurricane, her own home not far from hospital premises she would welcome as many as possible into her home, her own reserves of food and medical supplies provisional (one thing she gleaned from her brother - who had in recent begun to contact her again via phone/mail/email was the importance if preparation). POST-APOCALYPSE In the wake of restructuring after the events surrounding En Sabah Nur, Cecilia dove further into her medical practice to the best of her ability, aiding in the restructuring efforts but finding no real resolve despite her efforts as hatred towards her mutant status only grew in contempt as time would progress. As such, she would recede, but only for offering on behalf of a government funded agency thusly named SHIELD, in which she would be offered extensive medical authority over her own baseline department, generous funding but at the dual interest and study of her own mutation and furthermore its use (or so it would be revealed as time progressed). Time would progress and to the public eye, at least the ones who paid little heed, peace would once again steady itself across NYC, the people coming together after the various onslaughts and disasters against the city in order to renew and rebuild. She would leave her place at the hospital during this period of time, ensuring her mother's well being (on word of SHIELD) and would thus be stationed at the nearest base. Unfortunately to this action she would encounter the department at the hands of one Cameron Hodge, her dislike escalating towards the handling of said matters with the extradition of mutants sometime later. PURIFIERS Mayor Risman's seclusion orders would be met with contempt from Cecilia as well as fellow mutants within shield. The raising of the dome (though spurned by bigotry and confusion from both sides). As a mutant the position in which this places the woman was and still is needlessly uncomfortable with inner conflict of her place within such a department headed by such a hateful and pious fool clashing with her own desire to assist the wounded (humans and mutants alike) in the wake of martial law declared within the city/Mutant town. Forsaking modicum she would descend upon the town with colleagues in tow to aide in whatever medical capacity. Afterwards it would be from her time as lead on the trauma squadron that she would be brought to considerative light for membership on one of the newer and more progressive squadrons. SKRULLS During the Skrull's invasion (complacency wave) Cecilia would take a more counteractive stance, her own mutation providing protection from the bulk of considerable infiltration within the organization itself. She would play her part by protecting the medics and triage units beneath her leadership while helping construct medical facilities and makeshift quarters. She would be successful to an extent, losing few teammates but finding the opposition clearly overwhelming - Skrull technology and warfare considerably outmatching human and mutantkind's own - she would take said losses personally, correlatively locking them away in her heart to avenge, prevent, justify by taking further action and doing more. The Skrull battle eventually won at the unified actions of SHIELD, the X-Men and others, Cecilia would petition for transfer, finding even in the administrative levels (while feasibly doing great good) no methods nor calculations nor locked office doors would accomplish the direction and guidance unique to her knowledge and skillset better than participating in direct field operations. CURRENT HISTORY It would be ironic that Cecilia would leave the highly targeted city of New York for London during the period in which the Illuminati would take aggressive stances. The majority of SHIELD fighting their own battles (whether for or against Namor in all of his arrogant yet meticulously tactitioned forefront) the good doctor, to these measures fresh to the Defender's league would provide communication and medical assistance from the home base, biding time in good measure while providing support in the least hindering way. New to the Defender's team, Cecilia manages the time by assessing her newly implemented colleagues and by accustoming to her role on the team. An American, she also spends a large majority of her time exploring the sights and sounds of the British isles. In reasoning alone she remains aloof to her comrades, placating herself in a position of watch and wait, sharpening her skills while remaining attentive to not only matters at hand but familiarizing herself with past incidents to which she was unaware. SAMPLE RP POST: The scattering of gunfire came suddenly and in frenzied bursts. It was a meager sounding thing reverberating down the tiled surgical unit walls but with each significant popping noise, Cecilia's focus grew less consistent, the general copacetic seclusion in which she cloaked herself sloughing away as the emergency code for active large-scale emergency was paged across the employee lines, her own tanned fingers threading the space between her paperwork and the pager holster at her hip instinctively, knowing before she even dare to read the words that the attack on the bay was far more than panic of the city inhabitants who were now surging in chaotic fashion to places of supposed shelter. En Sabah Nur was now a name of fear - an unscrupulous charlatan who had broadcast himself across the landmasses, striking terror into the hearts of the nation...no, the world. Cecilia closed her eyes and massages her temples as she hurried to the blockade at the front of the unit, her heels discarded for medical flats so she didn't roll her ankle in the mayhem. Grabbing a walkie, she buzzed her own sentiments in order to correspond to her fellow physicians. Each department, though connected within the hospital itself now maintained a level of quarantine with the evacuated offices and clinics for unnecessary practices now manning as medical wards and research bays. At her behest the perimeter was now guarded by SHIELD agents. It was fortunate they had found her first. Initiating contact a few weeks prior to the incident and promising aide in whatever capacity but at a price. With the amount of death and devastation she hastily signed away her own name to protect the people who huddle these halls now. Although a part of her doubted if it would be enough. Her own department at the borders of the outer hospital lots, they were particularly susceptible and so she tread lightly through the floors, rushing onward and paying little heed to the shouts in the lower wards nor the approving nods of soldiers posted along the halls themselves. Mustering her courage she paused before striding through the trauma bay doors. Steeling her mocha features into a semblance of calm as her fingertips met cool steel. The door opened, bringing with it the sights and the sounds of the sick, the wounded, the dying and afraid. Watching in an anxious haze she took a few breaths before hastening to the side of a seizing patient, flicking free her stethoscope and optic light to assess his vitals. |

Hey Ochen, thanks for applying to XMR and bringing us a new Doc! Mostly this is a good base to start off on, we just need to fill out some sections and get things refined. If I seem to be piling on the detail, don’t panic and anything you need explaining, please contact me or another member of staff for help. 1. Powers: These are mostly fine but they’re missing a little detail. You need to be more descriptive of how much force her shields can take, etc, and give us that in figures. Same for you need to be more specific for how long her shield can stay up. Of course that would vary on the sort of attacks she’s defending against, so is it five seconds to five minutes? That sort of thing. 2. History: The early history is a little brief. I know she’s not the most well documented character in Marvel, but that’s where creative license comes in. Generally when we have older/accomplished characters, we do like to see those accomplishments or years set out. I’m not asking for a novel, so don’t worry about that. But we need to see a little more of her background and her struggle (are you keeping her father dying?) with a poor background and coming from an ethnic minority to be not only a highly talented doctor but a highly talented female doctor. Don’t worry, I’m not asking you to turn her into a pillar of feminism, but she has srs stones so it’d be cool to see some of that earlier on. Apoc: Was she in NYC for War’s attack? What about the subsequent hurricane then the EMP? The section isn’t bad, but you could tailor it a little more specifically. Post Apoc: Again, not a bad section, but this time period was roughly a year so keep that in mind when going through the rest of the app, as this was one of the few episodes when things were seemingly normal (of course they weren’t but the plots in this time frame did not impact on a worldwide scale). Purifiers: If she was training, that’s fine, but did she have any thoughts and feelings about Mayor Risman’s anti-mutant stance? What about the attacks on Mutant Town? Risman also declared martial law and that caused the dome to go up over MT. Mutants in SHIELD were in an odd position during this time frame, so it is interesting food for thought. Skrulls: What about the complacency wave that brought everyone to heel? SHIELD had been infiltrated right to the top during this plot, which you don’t necessarily have to reference, but it is good to have a wider understanding You may have gotten the wrong end of the stick when I was mentioning something on AIM. STRIKE is a wholly UK organisation and the Defenders are not part of STRIKE. It just so happens that some Defenders are members of STRIKE on loan to SHIELD to promote international relations. She can have gone to work for a short while in the UK if you really want, but Defenders = SHIELD. Current: The site history has JUST been updated so you might want to go and read about the Illuminati plot and add what you can of that. I’m sorry if this seems lengthy, you can clearly write, we just need to see some more layers on the layers already here. Things like the sample and the personality are good examples of what we like to see. We don’t need a novel and we don’t need you to read every in game thread, but I do recommend reading some at least. If you need help just ask, or post in here to tell me when you’ve edited. Thanks :) |

History has been altered a tad more. It's not my best, but if necessary I'll see about adding more specifics as requested. Thank you for your patience. |

You're still kind of shy of detail in some areas but I have spoken to you enough on aim to know you get what went on. Just bear in mind if you app again, we'll still need to see an appropriate level of detail so don't drop off familiarising yourself with the site history as at this point, you'll learn more through play. However, another mod might want some more detail so keep that in mind. [S T A M P] |
