POWERS

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Concussive Force Blasts; The main assertion of Push's power comes in the form of a form of force manipulation, basically meaning he generates waves of pure concussive force. Having once been describes as polarity force manipulation (a term the player now realizes makes no sense) it was affirmed that what his powers actually are have nothing to do with polarity, but rather are the result of being to able to create and generate panels of pure force which he is able to channel out of his arms. The blasts tend to be channeled out in waves or groups of three and can be extended into walls measuring as high as ten feet high by seven feet wide or something much smaller. extended to their maximum these walls of concussive force are limited to a range of no more than three per ten minutes less his body exhaust, but in smaller sizes and intensity they are able to be generated in a ratio that extend no more than twenty blasts per ten minutes.

Distance as well as time play a part in the severity of the damage Kyle's force blasts can do, like most things that travel in waves the farther they extend from the source the weaker they become. Over the distance of a few short feet an intense blast can have the result of being hit by a vehicle going sixty miles per hour, but the distance of say half a mile would feel substantially less strong. So proximity as well as physical endurance play a strong role in capability and effectiveness.

WEAKNESS:
As stated above Kyle's force blasts are limited by both time, exertion and distance. He also possesses no enhanced strength outside of that of a man in his late twenties in great shape, has no advanced healing factor or telepathic immunity. He can easily be killed in the usual, ordinary fashion.

PERSONALITY
A born overachiever Kyle has long approached the world and his place in it as a man with something to prove. Having never truly believed himself to be enough to fit into the desires and plans of his family the young mutant who calls himself Push has sought to build another life for himself one founded on the principals taught and shown to him by his mentors and friends with Xaviers. Quick with a joke or a sarcastic comment he is not a fan of long silences and often will speak his mind just to fill in those holes. This has led to more than a few misunderstanding, but to those that know him, and know him well, it is clear he has the best of intentions even if his methods are a little bumbling in getting there.

Gifted with a self effacing demeanor to overcompensate for years of lingering self doubt Kyle often tries to do too much while playing off his own perceived inadequacies. He can be quick with his temper or loose with his tongue, but is often soon embarrassed or ashamed of what he may have said or done. He tries to never be one who will let the sun set on an argument or misunderstanding, knowing first hand that tomorrow is not always a guaranteed day. He is deeply passionate about the people he cares for, and yet at the same time he often wonders if any difference can truly be made in a world with such oppressing odds. He has seen first hand the good the X-men can do but has also felt the backlash and sacrifice that can come when you try to set an example and right a world's wrongs. He tries to lead a good intentioned life, but like many he is flawed. He makes poor choices some times and has never actually learned not to make the same mistake twice.

HISTORY: PRE-APOCALYPSE
(I had a fair amount of board history here, but Im going to just go over the highlights. Sorry to anyone or anything that gets left out)

Kyle was born the eldest child of three (one brother one sister) to a political family of well means in Boston, Mass. Striving to build a legacy like the Kennedys minus the tragedies and rampant alcoholism Kyle's father Steven and his grandfather Daniel were masters at using their family wealth earned through a shipping and steel empire to parlay that success into the only level of royalty americans except, political dynasties. Kyle's father served a term as governor and then state senator a position he had held for much of Kyle and his siblings life. Growing up in the Van Leerson household he was taught very on the importance of image; how all that mattered was what was perceived as it was twice as valuable as what was actually prevalent. There were times as a young pre teen when Kyle felt stifled and stymied by his family's expectations and demanded goals, but it was the only life he knew. He rebelled in small ways the occasional party, wild weekend but nothing that went to far out of the image of what was expected of a well meaning and privileged youth. It was an unspoken truth that the family were happy behind closed doors but to the eyes of the press or anyone else that seemingly had it all.

All of this perceived perfection was to be tarnished when not long after his seventeenth birthday Kyle's mutant nature would reveal itself with tragic consequences. Driving home from a party with his girlfriend Cadance and arguing about something trivial his powers would manifest for the first time, the initial waves of concussive force causing him to lose control of the vehicle and crash it. He would survive the accident with minor injuries, Cadance however would be pronounced dead on the scene. The subsequent investigation would reveal that Kyle Van Leerson was in fact a mutant. Running on a platform of anti-mutant rights Senator Van Leerson paid out of the nose to have all documentation of the true cause of the accident buried and had Kyle shipped off to a 'special' school to deal with his 'problem'

It would take a few years and a lot of therapy for Kyle to accept that he had no problem. He was a mutant like the others at Xaviers and while there the teen coped as best he could with the guilt of what had happened at his hands as well as accepting that he could never be the person his family expected. He graduated from Xaviers with high marks and spent a few years yo-yo'ing between fits of utter debauchery and attempts at being an upstanding citizen. During this time he would form a relationship with a piano playing prodigy Delia Collins who also had her share of secrets and hidden guilts. the two had something of a torrid thing that ended as only the hottest of affairs can in disaster. Delia went her way and Kyle went his and eventually both of their paths would cross back to Xaviers.

DURING APOCALYPSE (April 7th through April 12th, 2009)

During the Apocalypse Kyle was forced into working to keep his siblings and family safe in Boston. It was during this time, the world brought so close to it's end as his fathers reignited stance against mutants that would force to young man out of his family home for the second time and back to the only place that had ever truly accepted him for him.

POST-APOCALYPSE
Taking a teaching tenure at Xaviers Kyle was met with a few pleasant and not so pleasant surprises. First would be the run in with his old flame Delia collins who also had a teaching position with the school. the other would be the making of new friends such as the green hued Nurse Avery Doyle as well as bringing back to life old friendships with people he had attended the school with such as Piotr Rasputin. The first few months at his new position we're uneventful until a trip to the Savage land resulted in the kidnapping of one of the student body Josh Foley. What followed after that put the X-mans beliefs to a new level as to retrieve the lost student they would have to travel to the dark side of the moon and challenge a group of meta humans known as the Inhumans. The two opposing forces fought over the perceived injustices until it was revealed they were all being manipulated at the hands of one of the inhuman's own. A treaty was bartered out between the two sides and the X-men returned home with Josh and Kyle came back with a stronger lease on what he wanted.

He and Delia would go back and forth on their relationship, neither ever sure how to handle the other though there was love there. A drunken weekend in Las Vegas would end with them married, a union the pair quickly dissolved before agreeing to make it official in front of their X-family and friends. A lavish ceremony on the school grounds was planned. It was a day to be remembered and one that ended in disasters as the strange blending of realities known as WWX would crash the civil union and replace the groom with his more hostile counterpart, an emissary of that universes Emma Frost, who worked to move mutants to the Magneto ran nation of Jus Soli. Stranded in a strange reversed reality Kyle fought to find his way back to the world that was his own and to his would be bride. A group of X-men, X-factor, and Brotherhood would come together again like they did in the Apocalypse to take on the dark entity that called himself Onslaught in the Void and split the two universes back into their rightly places.

After the successful defeat of Onslaught and the closing of the Void Kyle would struggle with his attempts to fix the damage done by his duplicate to his relationship not just with Delia but with the other X-men as well. After months of false starts the two X-men decided to leave Xaviers and focus on starting a life together outside of the one fraught with battle and complications. They were married in a small ceremony just after leaving, and shared just a couple of months of wedded bliss before tragedy would strike again.

(What happens here is stuff that will be explained in game.)

Getting a second divorce from Delia Kyle fell into some old bad habits, before receiving the news that his mother was battling breast cancer. Going home to aid and support his family Kyle soon found himself pressured into assuming the identity that was expected of him, that of giving son. It became easy to do this, to just pretend that who he really was didn't matter. He even thought about following in his father's footsteps and running for political office.

PURIFIERS
This false reality would be shattered with the destruction of Xaviers and massacre of some of its students. Having thought of the place as a second home seeing the dream nearly destroyed ignited an old fire in Kyle and forced the young man to face certain truths. He could not go back to the person he had been before. He was a mutant and he was an X-man.

To that end, he traveled back to the school. Finding it in shambles with the people he cared about most in the world on the edge of insanity hit him pretty hard. Though he joined the effort to help fix the school and its inhabitants, he lacked the medical and (at this point) frankly the personal skills that his best friend Avery had.

Though one might think he'd find fulfillment in going back to his old stomping grounds, it did nothing but cement how much he had changed; how much what had happened with Delia changed him.

Though he managed to etch out a couple of weeks with his return to the school, in the end, it was just too much. He began to swim in guilt. What if he had been there? What if he had been stronger? Perhaps he could have done something to stop this from happening. In the end, the demons in his mind won out, and he took his leave from the school. It was less than heroic, opting to leave in the middle of the night, without even telling Avery.

SKRULLS
During the battle of impostors known as Skrulls Kyle endured what most average civilians did as he stayed by his mother's side through the worst of her treatment for cancer.

Delia Colins, his onetime wife, showed up on his doorstep. Kyle was stunned, given what had happened, given the way things had ended. She said she wanted him back. She said together, theyt could go to the X Men and have the life they once yearned for back. When Kyle refused, telling Delia he had moved on from both her and the X Men, Delia's skin turned green. She was a Skrull. She lashed out, trying to kill both Kyle and his ailing mother. In the end, he did what he had wanted to for quite a while now; he killed Delia Colins; or at least the monster wearing her face.

Unable to overcome his feelings of inadequecy. he contacted his former team and told them of what happened.

When the world was saved once again by the combination of heroes and perceived villains of various affiliations he began to make his plans to return to the X-men, but found himself derailed from returning with a sudden crisis of faith.

CURRENT HISTORY

Having failed in his marriage, his family, his life and feeling adrift from any real semblance of self he didn't believe himself worthy to return to Westchester so he wallowed in self pity, booze, and prescription drugs. He chased his pain by numbing it allowing himself to feel nothing to avoid feeling anything and with each passing news story, like the report of Scott Summers death or his rebirth as a villain to Spiral's mandate that all proclaimed heroes like Daredevil's be killed it was a bad time to be a good guy it seemed so he didn't. Shamefully he did nothing and watched through the fog of self indulgence and suppression while the world nearly crumbled again while old villains rose as new Gods and then like most deities before them were took back down.

Who can say what rock bottom really was or when he hit it it, but no matter how much he wanted to hurt himself there were people around him who refused to let him drown. It was one such person, his closest friend at Xaviers Avery Doyle whom he turned to at his lowest and darkest hour and it was the steel edged concern and help of his friend that forced him to face up to the mess he had become and help him to choose to come home.

SAMPLE RP POST:

January 2 2010

-Mid-Day-

There was a disturbance in the force, a outside shaking of the fragile tether they all clung to as so called 'normal', and that disturbance was Pietro Maximoff. Everyone seemed to have an opinion and everyone seemed willing to voice it. No stranger to debate, Kyle had several loud opinions on the subject adamant assumptions he was ready to scream from the rooftop but he held his peace. There was more at stake then the safety of one criminal locked in a holding cell, like any mercenary Pietro was just the start of the problem the real damage was all those in the path of his fallout and none were closer than Avery Doyle. Kyle had come to count on their friendship in a way that was important and precious to him. Since his return from the alternate reality that was a world without Charles Xavier he had been struggling to fit who he was back into his shook up life. Hie relationship with Delia, always tempermental at best, was drowning under the weight of unspoken problems and the two lovers were at an impasse that neither seemed willing to deal with and fix. He kept telling himself Tomorrow, tomorrow he'd fix things but tomorrow always came and went with no solution appearing before his eyes. He was trapped in a limbo of his own making and he didn't know his way out and even worse he was terrified of what would happen when he did. He didn't want to imagine his life without Delia in it but at the same time he couldn't imagine thing continuing on as they were. eventually the space between them would swallow up completely what they had and their love would just be another causality in the long list of his life.

His best friend didn't seem to be faring any better. Kyle knew how much Pietro's return had meant to Avery, how much she had counted and planned on it and like he had always feared Pietro had only served to hurt her. He wanted to punch the crazed speedster and he would too if he also didn't feel bad for him. Emotions were funny that way, you could loathe someone and feel bad for them at the one time. Kyle wouldn't wish what Pietro was going through well on Pietro Maximoff himself and that was saying a lot, but regardless of the suffering of Maximoff his main concern was his friend. The dissolution of hope was a agony all his own and while the upper echelon debated Maximoff's fate the woman who loved him was forced to stand by torn by her devotion to both her causes. It royally pissed him off how utterly unfair things were. Avery was one of the good ones, she didn't deserve this, but reality seldom played on what was deserved and what was fair, the universe's plan was all it's own.

He had convinced her to take a walk with him, to get out of the confines of the school and the knowledge that Pietro was just a floor below them at all times. He wanted to talk to her about how she was doing. He wanted to be supportive, make her laugh, let her cry, give her something to wail on if she just needed to hit something. He wanted to be the same kind of friend to her that she had been to him, but like everything else happening it wasn't that simple. As much as he cared for her he couldn't truly disguise the contempt he had for the man that she loved or the biting notion that he had been right about the monster that was the speedster. At the same time he knew how much a mess his own life was and that he was in no position to toss stones.

"Okay, spill. You can act all you want that your not losing it but I know you and I know the toll this is taking. So this is your chance to let it out. Scream, cry, slap me a few times if it'll make you feel better but don't keep it inside because this stuff is like cancer it'll eat you apart, trust me. The worst thing you can do is hold it in because sooner or later what we try to bury just crawls out of the ground and drags us back down there with it."

Hey Cody,

I know we had a talk on aim about this and this isn't asking you to rush, just more of a check in to make sure everything is alright. Hit me up on aim again if you want to discuss anything further.

Hey.

Yeah it had sat for a bit after it went up and I asked Lauren to look at it she told me what her concerns where and needed to be added. I'm going over the plot history now and revisions and just seeing what I need to put in. Shouldn't take me much longer. What Lauren and I talked about over aim was just a further fleshing out of the bigger site wides into the app. Is there anything else you see Dean? It'll just be easier to do it all in one big swoop, I guess.

Nah, frankly it looks pretty good to me as is and I'd have suggested the same kind of stuff. Carry on Cody.

I don't know if he's addressed what Lauren asked yet, as her requested edits aren't listed in here. So no, that wasn't a stamp, just confirming he was still working on it.

The edits were made before Heather looked it over and stamped it. I told Lauren over aim but I'm sure she was done on bed. I'm sure she'll look it over herself when she's free today.
