CLOTHING STYLE: Even after venturing from her home in the Bavarian Circus, embracing the different cultures she was able to experience because of her job as an airline stewardess, Jimaine’s clothing style remains simple. She dresses for the occasion, preferring to wear casual graphic t-shirts, jeans, and tennis shoes for comfort, or even attire that reflect a Bohemian sense of fashion. If more formal attire is required, Jimaine will not shy away from ensembles that enhance her silhouette or her height - pencil skirts or high-heels being merely examples. The accessories she wears tend to be gold and complimentary of her gypsy heritage, such as necklaces, bracelets and bangles, rings and ear rings. UNIFORM: As a member of school staff, she will often dress professionally during school hours. On Fridays, however, she dresses in business casual attire. While Jimaine does not have a standard combat uniform, she will adopt the typical Kevlar outfits utilized in emergency situations around Xavier’s School for Gifted Youth if it is absolutely necessary; she does the same when training as well. POWERS GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Jimaine is able to manipulate the forces of reality with energy sourced through a dimension called the Winding Way. The broad aspect of reality warping could potentially gift her with numerous abilities over time; however, Jimaine’s training over the years has focused on bending force in a literal sense. This has allowed her to teleport vast distances, change the shape of inanimate objects’ molecules, project blasts of primal force, and bend force to create a force shield for protection against attacks. Teleportation - With enough concentration, sleep and energy, Jimaine is able to force energy through the Winding Way dimension and create a rip through space. While visualizing a place, she can travel through the rip into the dimension and open up another rip that will enable her to appear at her visualized destination. She is able to comfortably travel up to 3,000 miles, three times the amount of space she was able to travel when she was younger, and can only jump three successive times before she must recuperate from the dizzying experience. If she would like to teleport with others, her range decreases to 1,000 miles and she can only make a single jump, as well as limiting the amount of individuals to five people. Objects with the mass of five adult men are also able to be teleported with the same limitations. Because she is not as tactile as her foster brother, Jimaine only teleports when it is absolutely necessary; the experience afterwards is very disorienting and she will need a few moments to regain her composure after each jump that she successfully makes. Shape Changing - Another gift that requires concentration, Jimaine is able to use energy from the Winding Way dimension to force inorganic molecules to be manipulated by her sheer willpower. This allows her to reshape objects, change their color or density, but it does not allow her to change the object’s mass. Such a power is often used in quick costume changes or disguise techniques by altering clothing or jewelry. Jimaine is not effectively able to reshape organic matter without causing the matter extreme pain; therefore, she does not attempt to manipulate the molecules of human beings or animals. This power’s range is the equivalent of Jimaine’s line of sight, and objects that are molecularly bonded intensely require her to physically touch it. Objects that are more dense than most fabrics require physical touch depending on how she would like to mold it and how long it will take to complete the process. Also, fibers similar to the metal adamantium cannot be manipulated. Force Blasts / Shield - Siphoning the primal energies of the Winding Way dimension allows Jimaine to offensively project blasts of elemental force. These blasts are concussive in nature and can project a heat of 2,372 °F at its highest intensity; she uses her willpower alone to determine the temperature of each blast. While the highest temperature of these blasts cannot melt metal, it can singe or ignite organic materials. The impact force is enough to dent metal and knock someone unconscious at its peak. If Jimaine wanted to project a continuous blast (to hold someone in place, for example,) she is able to do so for up to three minutes with the blast’s hold weakening every minute. By bending those primal energies, Jimaine can also project a force shield that protects her from offensive attacks. This shield can be used as either a wall or spread across a 20 feet diameter as a sphere. Concentration is required to maintain the shield and it can withstand 5 tons of force before it shatters. Any loss of focus could create holes or soft spots in the shield, which would cause the shield to dissipate entirely. When her shield is shattered because too much force is exerted against it, Jimaine experiences a psychic backlash that is similar to a painful headache and a loss of concentration. WEAKNESS: First and foremost, Jimaine is a mutant that is not immune to illness, aging, or fatigue toxins. When placed in dangerous situations, she can be harmed or killed if she is not careful for her survival. She also does not have any protection against psychic attacks. Despite her age and experience, the Winding Way dimension has strict rules that everyone that sources their powers through the dimension must follow. The dimension provides great power onto a user but also great weakness as well. That means that once a week within each twelve month cycle, Jimaine will experience great power and great weakness. This is a process that she has experienced for years and understands and accepts. During this time, her teleportation is reduced to a couple miles, she finds it harder to manipulate inorganic that could usually change in the blink of an eye, her shields can only withstand her weight, and her force blasts will not even provide a bruise onto its target. In order for her to utilize her powers at their peak performance, Jimaine has to be well rested, nourished, and mentally fit. Because of this, she will occasionally be found meditating and exercising, believing both are excellent in rejuvenating her energy. PERSONALITY An understanding and compassionate individual, Jimaine’s social and moral traits were developed underneath a circus big top filled with an eclectic assortment of individuals. Because everyone was considered family, it was easy for her to share, be kind, and befriend others - and that can still be said about her to this day. It helped to mold her into a good citizen and an even better person. It also created a desire to want to help people in a time of need. A huge believer in respecting others as one would respect themselves, Jimaine makes it a point to always maintain a positive demeanor around others. While not overly cheery in an eerie sense, she will not hesitate to smile if she is in a good mood. Equality is a huge practice in her life as well, knowing that everyone is different but should be treated the same regardless of gender, race, color, or beliefs. The addition of her foster brother’s differences instilled a firm understanding of such a philosophy. But knowing that there are people in the world that hate because of fear frustrates Jimaine more than anything. Several experiences in the past have proven the harm that could be done because of blind disregard, and every time the opportunity presents itself, Jimaine helps where she can and sacrifices her safety for those that cannot protect themselves. Intelligent, strong-willed and proud (especially of her Gypsy heritage and culture), Jimaine uses these traits as tools to build her confidence and assurances. Several times in her life, though, she has questioned herself or her beliefs because of events that have transpired in the communities around her and worldwide. While these slips of hope make her more human, Jimaine will oftentimes reflect deeply on decisions that she makes because of it. If the wrong person were able to shake her moral foundations, this could allow a naïve nature to blossom, especially when confronted with views that may confuse her. Jimaine is also a trusting person. She is willing to give everyone a fair chance unless that person has done something that goes completely against her code of ethics. This can also make her very loyal to those she has grown close to, committing to defensiveness and protectiveness when it is necessary. While she is not fearless, Jimaine is confident in her capabilities and education, but never will she possess an ego or vanity. Emotions are easily deciphered through her facial features as it is not easy for her to hide them, but it is very rare to see Jimaine upset to the point where it ruins her day. Confusion, however, can oftentimes find itself masked on her face when thrown in compromising situations. HISTORY: PRE-APOCALYPSE Jimaine Szardos was born in Bavaria, Germany, to a caring single mother who birthed a son and adopted another a year prior. She was raised into an eclectic circus family. There was not much that the young girl could have wanted, as support was abundant and entertainment was aplenty. Her eyes were opened early to the differences that everyone possessed, and acceptance of those contrasts simply developed Jimaine into a cheerful and curious child. With a mother that was presumed to be a sorceress and fortune teller, an adopted brother with the appearance of a satanic demon, and a tent full of other vast discoveries to interact with, growing into the melting pot of the world was easy for her. A passion for adventure and aerial heights exploded after a few years, as she and her adopted brother were trained in the various acts of the circus. While he was gifted with agility, Jimaine developed her own form as time went by, specializing in gymnastics, yoga, and other types of meditation rituals which helped to enhance her body and mind. When she was not busy with school sessions with the other children that lived within the circus, and when her time practicing aerial feats had tired her out, Jimaine would be engulfed in the workings of her mother and the many tales she would tell her about their heritage, the gypsy culture, and the Winding Way path that Jimaine would one day follow. When Jimaine’s biological brother left for Winzeldorft and began a new life outside of the circus, a desire to want more out of her own life surfaced; Jimaine wanted to explore the world and see different sights she felt that the Bavarian circus could not offer. Margali did not support Jimaine’s view to leave, as she believed her daughter had a responsibility to nurture the gifts the Winding Way path would soon offer to her. The decision Kurt made to part ways with the circus as well, however, cemented her own views on leaving as well, and Jimaine chose to follow that trend when a Texas millionaire bought the organization and wanted to feature its prime acts in his own Florida circus. The dream to leave Germany for Florida was short-lived though. On the night that Kurt and Jimaine were going to leave to visit their brother in Winzeldorft, the performer that replaced her was murdered by what was believed to be a demonic-looking assailant that was truly Margali in disguise. Jimaine was drawn into the belief that she was meant to be killed by the “demon” instead, and feeling defenseless and responsible for a life taken away because of a decision that was made on her end, she chose to stay with her mother to learn and hone the ways of their “magical” culture. Saying goodbye to her dream to travel the world and parting ways with Kurt that same day, Margali and Jimaine started working immediately. It was not long thereafter that word reached mother and daughter about the mysterious slayings in Winzeldorft, and amongst the flittering gossip was the fact that Stefan had been murdered by a blue, demonic creature. While Margali was enraged and believed Kurt was the individual behind Stefan’s demise, Jimaine was instead concerned and wondered if he was the demon that murdered the performer that took her place in the circus as well. The two Szardos women decided it was best to leave the circus and they went into hiding to be consumed into a training regimen. That was why when Kurt returned to the circus to try to explain the events that transpired, he could not find them and left for America. Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months, and months turned into years -- five years to be exact. For those five years, Jimaine had broken into her gift to warp reality with energy drawn from the Winding Way dimension. With her mother guiding her through this new phase in her life, Jimaine excelled at using her powers, and it was not long until she no longer needed Margali for understanding. As the world around her bent to her will, she felt powerful and confident; they were the same feelings that she felt when an act was mastered within the German circus. However, Jimaine knew that something was missing in her life. No amount of reality warping would be able to fill that void. Deciding that a change was in order and it was time to leave home, Jimaine became a flight attendant for a Euro-American airline under the identity of Amanda Sefton, named after the woman who was murdered in the circus. Some of her favorite places to visit over the next few years were Paris, Hollywood, and London, but her favorite by far was New York City. Amanda was passionate about her job and she was good with people. It gave her an opportunity to cross paths with the different cultures of the world, of which started to form a mutual interest: mutants. While she continued to practice the use of her powers secretly, there was a time when she placed that part of life on the backburner. DURING APOCALYPSE The rise of Apocalypse changed that view completely, however. On April 7, 2009, Amanda Sefton was in London when the Horseman Death appeared and began transforming the citizens into hordes of monstrous walking dead. Inexperienced at facing such odds, but feeling it was necessary to help protect the people of the city during its dreadful situation, Amanda threw herself selflessly into battle and did her best to work at crowd control. With the help of others that stood against the tormented army of the dead, Death was finally struck down and those gathered celebrated their temporary victory. Temporary because the leader of the Horsemen was still standing tall, but Amanda knew that she could not offer her services against Apocalypse. She remained in London for the next four days doing what she could to help support the defense of the city. Despite growing tired and weary, the city of London persevered and survived the onslaught of the mind-controlled armies; on April 12, 2009, Apocalypse was brought to his knees and those that were converted were returned back to normal. Inspired by the different families that returned to each other, Amanda made a vow that she would seek out Kurt so that they would reunite after so many years since his departure. It would be an opportunity to learn what happened with Stefan as well. POST-APOCALYPSE In the months that followed, the post-apocalyptic world around them ran rampantly with natural, uncontrolled chaos. From the infiltration of CAGE to Doctor Doom attempting to extend Latveria’s borders by force, it was proven that the news was not as uplifting in such trying times. But Jimaine continued on in the guise of Amanda Sefton, working tirelessly as a flight attendant and utilizing the small amount of resources she had in any attempt to find Kurt Wagner. Despite her intent to maintain her life without drama, her entire life was thrown upside down when she awoke in a dimension that was clearly not her own. In a world of even more chaos and uncertainty, a world without Charles Xavier, Jimaine discovered that she was wanted mere moments after waking up from her slumber. Having to evade capture because authorities assumed she was involved with a series of disappearances and murders, she teleported from her living quarters in Europe to North America. It was there that she discovered that not everything was as it seemed, and she unwittingly became swept into the efforts to help correct the problems caused by the merging dimensions. This having been her second stint at heroics, Jimaine discovered that she enjoyed helping people on a larger scale than simply being a flight attendant. The repercussions of Jimaine’s switch with the alternate version of herself, however, caused her to lose her job and sink into a mild depression when realities were restored. Unfocused and uncertain what the next stop in her journey was, she continued to travel the world with money that was salvaged. A detour on this path was a stop back to Germany. She reconnected with her mother, Margali Szardos, and took notice of how bitter and resentful she had become. It was clear that she was not content with the loss of Stefan, her first born son and this concerned Jimaine dearly. Fearful for her mother’s sanity as well as Kurt’s safety, the daughter left Germany once again with convictions ignited more than before. PURIFIERS Minor success had finally begun to be seen at the most detrimental moments in the mutant community. Towns were destroyed, political figures were less than savory in their expression of mutant inferiority, and most dramatically, the Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters was bombed! Word of Kurt’s whereabouts came as bad news when Jimaine discovered he had been impaled by the sentinel Nimrod. Wanting to be by her brother’s side, Jimaine teleported to New York and visited him in secret. She watched him and cried for him, but dared not reveal herself because she knew that her mother would trail after her to get to him. To keep a close eye on him until the right moment was met, Jimaine moved to New York and attended college - majoring in Mythology and Religions. SKRULLS There was not much Jimaine could do during the Skrull attack because of the Complacency Wave. Like many others, she complied with the Skrulls and attacked those that could have been friends or foes. It was until the device was destroyed that Jimaine came to the realization that she was being controlled, and it distastefully reminded her of her polar opposite during a World without Xavier. Grateful that she did not inflict serious harm against anyone, Jimaine returned to her life of studying and arming herself with knowledge to better her future, now a college sophomore. CURRENT HISTORY The world was still consumed by chaos even after the Skrull Invasion, the largest threat being Namor and his giant beast attacking Mutant Town. Once again tearing her eyes from books, Jimaine helped where she could. However, good things began to blossom when another press conference from Scott Summers signifies hope within the mutant community - the reopening of Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. But that hope was threatened by numerous Illuminati attacks by Spiral and Exodus, and Scott Summers’ death. When Kurt’s involvement in the Dark X-Men’s plots hit home, Jimaine fights herself internally to understand why, unfamiliar with the cause of his transformation. The light within the dark tunnel of her mind had begun to dim as she thought of the series of murders that happened when they were younger. With only a semester remaining until her graduation, Jimaine makes the decision that she may need to hide in the shadows, but Amanda Sefton did not. Surviving the wrath of the Phoenix-powered Illuminati, at the first of the year, Amanda Sefton applied for a teaching position at Xavier’s School for Gifted Youth. SAMPLE RP POST: Jimaine Szardos has seen the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty, and even the Burj Khalifa within a months’ time, but still, none of them compared to the sight of the Westchester mansion that she overlooked through a smudged taxi window. The grounds were beautifully done, the architecture quite reminiscent of an older generation, yet it was a new one all in the same. How regular it seemed, the woman thought to herself, taking in the fact that the inhabitants inside were quite the opposite. And soon, if things went well, she could too say that nothing was as it seemed for a mutant school and home of the infamous X-Men. Having seen previous newscasts and press conferences once the school came into the public eye, Jimaine was not sure if she was expecting more or not. It seemed fitting to think that the school would be contained within some sort of advanced design. With technology developing at every waking avenue, that perception made sense. However, the hopeful instructor was merely scanning the outside layers for what they were, having never experienced the inside ever, and mind was simply racing with different thoughts and ideas of how things might have looked and would have been. She was excited to say the least. “Is this the place, toots?” the New York taxi driver asked. The man’s heavily accented voice reached her and she tightened her grip on the handle of her briefcase that lay on a quivering thigh. “Ja,” Jimaine replied in her native tongue, not realizing what she had actually said until the driver turned to face her in his seat. “Yes, this is the place. Thank you.” A free hand searched through one of the pockets of her briefcase and pulled out the fare of the ride, handing it to the driver before opening the door to his taxi. A slight breeze swept against her leg as she stepped out and sent goose bumps to trail on top of goose bumps caused by nervousness. Closing the door behind her, the taxi went on. She smoothed out any wrinkles in the blazer and skirt, taking in her appearance intensely. “Good impressions, good impressions…” Jimaine whispered those words to herself as her heeled stride began towards the front gates of the mansion. 1407 Graymalkin Lane. She confirmed the address that was given to her through e-mail, and again, took it all in for what it was. A beautiful school. A mutant haven. An opportunity to start a new career and rekindle a past childhood. “Ich hoffe, dass ich einen guten Eindruck.” Good impressions. Nearby, there was an intercom with a button. A manicured finger hovered over the button for a couple of seconds before it finally pressed it. Another chill from the breeze sent more goose bumps to form down her arm, and she caressed the palm of her hand against it to settle them. But when someone answered her intercom request, it seemed that there was nothing she could do to stop them at this point. “H- Hi!” she replied at first, her confidence growing as the conversation moved forward. “I am here to see a Mister Warren Worthington. My name is Amanda Sefton, and we have an appointment.” She hoped they had an appointment. Jimaine stood in silence for a moment that felt like an eternity, and for a second she thought she should have just turned around and called for another cab back to the city. The subtle sounds of movement from the gate in front of her, however, gave her hope again. And as she waited for it to open completely, Jimaine stepped across the track with her briefcase in hand; the first step of many. Now, she only wished she would have stayed in the taxi so that it could have driven her up to the front doors. |
