For the most part, she keeps these telepathically invisible. CLOTHING STYLE:The idea of being able to dress for comfort rather than function is still relatively new to Rachel. As such, she experiments with different kinds of looks. Sometimes she's edgy, with leather and plunging necklines. other times, she's at home in a t shirt and comfortable pair of jeans. It all depends on her mood. UNIFORM: She wears a black and gold uniform with a pheonix emblem, similar to the one worn by her mother. POWERS GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Telepathy and Telekinesis: Rachel's main powerset is the same as that of her mother's and, like her mother, these abilities manifested a seperate times in her life. Telekinesis:Because her telekinesis was first to manifest, Rachel is more practiced and comfortable with it. Her telekinesis grants her several abilities. The first, and most potent, is the ability to move things with her mind. Though no upper weight limit has been determined, Rachel has lifted items up to five times her own body weight with relative ease. Heavier objects though (up to and including eighteen wheelers) prove more of a problem for Rachel, though not impossible. The heavier the object, the harder it is to lift and mantain. Fittingly, lighter objects are easier; though small objects require a finesse that Rachel spent a few years acquiring. At this point, Rachel is a telekinetic of great power. In addition to moving things, Rachel can also turn the telekinetic force on herself, allowing her to fly at subsonic speeds. At times of diress, she has been known to exceed these speeds, but doing so requires a level of concentration and physical exertion that is impossible for her to maintain for extended periods of time. She can also use this force to create walls or shields around herself or other people or objects. Because these shields are connected to her, they are only as strong as Rachel is mentally. When her concentration breaks, the shields are compromised. Telepathy: Because she is less practiced with this aspect of her abilities, it is less potent and precise as her telepathy. An almost involuntary reaction, Rachel is able to skim the surface thoughts of other people in close proximity and detect the presence of other mutants within a 500 yard radius. With concentration, she is able to dive into a person's mind and do an array of fancy things; including finding or manipulating certain memories, changing the way a person percieves the world around them (up to and including what they see, hear, smell, taste, and feel), and manipulate a person's emotions. With even more concentration, Rachel is able to take control of a person's body, making them do whatever she wills them to. In addition, as a telepath, Rachel can enter (or take others to) the astral plane. In the astral plane, she is seperated from her body and her the surrounding area can take any shape her mind desires. This is the most taxing thing Rachel can do, and remaining in the astral plane for extended periods of time is exhausting for her mentally and physically. Rachel has the potential for chronoskimming; moving herself and others backwards or forwards in time. This ability is unknown to her at this time. WEAKNESS: Because Rachel has an extremely potent powerset, she is constantly at risk of exerting herself. Lifting large objects (over a hundred pounds) in gret succession or for long periods of time, flying great distances, at great speeds (more than subsonic), or taking a person or persons with her, or staying in the astral plane for a long period of time, can leave Rachel exhuasted and leave her mind vulnerable to attacks. Again, her forcefields and shields are connected to her mind, so large blows against them are damaging to her mental state. When her concentration breaks, so will her shields. If she is rendered unable to think or exert the necessary energy while in midair, she will fall. If she loses concentration within the astral plane, she will be ejected back into her body; which is a jarring and painful experience. She also has all the physical frailties of a normal everyday girl. She is prone to sickness, injury, exhaustion, and death; just like anybody else. PERSONALITY In many ways, Rachel is a girl who is just now finding out who she is. The world she came from was a dark one; a world where people had to be who they had to be. There was little room for softness or joy. Life was about survival. And, when that is the case, it can sometimes be hard for a girl to find her footing. As such, Rachel became hardened. She was tough, because she needed to be tough; cold because that's what was necessary, and overly strong, because those were the only people who survived. After the death of her parents, Rachel pulled away from people. They were, for the most part, expendable and, because of that, methods to be hurt. But now, in this new world, things have changed. Though she still holds the memories of a world where things like happiness, calm, and relaxation were recipies for death and disaster; Rachel is beginning to learn that it's okay to take a deep breath and enjoy the scenery. This change has not been an easy or a quick one though. Rachel is often plagued with nightmares where she is back in her own world and, somewhere in the back of her mind, she fears that she'll have to one day return. As such, she's loathed to release all of her coldness, all of her strength. She was taught to always be ready, to always have a hand on the trigger, and that doesn't always bode well for building new relationships. Some people might look at her and see a prickly or hardcore, but in truth, Rachel is cautious about who she lets in, because she's seen more than her share of loss. Deep down she's a good person. She's a Summers- she's a Grey, and she yearns for justice and sees the good in people. THough the world she grew up in was a dark place, she still believes that people are basically good. She believes the world can be saved, and that it deserves to be saved. Still, she's seen the future. She's seen many of the people she works beside, many of per parents friends, die horrible deaths. And those truths weigh on her. They creep up on her when she's not expecting. HISTORY Future Past The world Rachel grew up in was a dark one. Concentration camps and the persecution of mutants marred her childhood and made her life a hard one to live through. Growing up with the X Men (or what was left of them) made her strong. She was groomed to be a fighter, a warrior because that's what she needed to be. Finding stray mutants, trying to save them, and trying to survive with her family was basically her life. THen, when what she knew was inevidable finally happened and her parents were killed, Rachel took up the mantle of the X Men's leader. She was the youngest in history, not because she deserved it above older, more experienced members, but because they were alld ead. She was the only feesible option in these dark days, and she did what she felt she had to in order to get by. Building up the Summers Rebellion, she liberated an entire camp full of mutants. She bolstered her numbers and made a name for herself as someone to be reckoned with. But she knew it wouldn't be enough. The world was too dark, and she was firmly on the enemy's radar now. There had to be another way; something else she could do. It wouldn't be enough to liberate camps. The whole world needed to change. THings got even darker though when Reed Richard betrayed her and Franklin, the boy she loved. She sacrifieced herself in order to ensure that Franklin and Valeria might go back to the past in order to cahnge things. But the cost of that sacrifice was high. She was turned into the Hound. Her powers were used to track down and capture wayward mutants. The leader of the Summers Rebellion; the leader of the X Men, had now been turned into one of most effective anti mutant weapons the world had ever seen. When her chronoskimming powers developed, she was sent back in time to retrieve the Richards children, ensure the dark future, and bring the tratiors to justice. But there was a wrinkle in the plan. She was attacked by an old friend and though they both went to the right time, Rachel ended up in the wrong place. SKRULLS She woke an amnesiac in the jungles of the Savage Land. Taken in by a tribe who coined her Askani, she lived a simpler life than the one she had left behind. Content with her life, she made a home for herself among the tribe. But peace was not to be lasting. Fighting came from both inside and out. When Outsiders arrived, even though she had no idea of the presence, Rachel felt a pull toward them. She was warded away from that feeling by her chieftan, and remained at her new home. When when a large party was led from the usurped temple, Askani broke her chieftan's wishes and went off to follow them. There, she felt a strange connection with these X Men that she couldn't explain. Upon further investigation, she passed out in the temple. She was found by Hank Mccoy and Jean Grey. When she was awoken though, so was a latent trigger put in her brain by Franklin that activated her Hound program. After a scuffle that resulted in Jean ripping the Hound from Rachel's mind, the girl found her memories shattered. As she grew closer with these X Men, her connection to Scott and Jean became a topic of centention. her powerset, as well as her appearance seemed to hint at a connection. As the Skrulls made their way to the temple and the Brood infection started to loom, DNA and psionic evidence proved what everyone was thinking. Rachel was, in fact,t eh biological daughter of Scott and jean. But how? There was no time to consider it though. THey were set upon by the Brood queen and Rachel helped her mother take out the hive mind. Ultimately, the Brood were defeated and Rachel returned with the X Men to take on and defeat the Skrull invasion. CURRENT HISTORY (Illuminati/Phoenix SiteWide) The days after the Skrull troubles were rebuilding ones. She worked hard at trying to retrieve her memories, grew closer to the people she know knew to be her parents, and a relationship with Franklin blossomed. She felt at home here and, when the Institute reopened, she was happy to see some normality. Soon, she broke her father's wishes and picking up a signature that matched her own, she and Franklin found the mutant Talia in New York. Intially distrustful of them, she eventually joined them at the Institute. When Scott was killed, Rachel went on a rampage. Prodded on by Prdigy, she attacked Talia and almost killed her, believing her to be responsible for Scott's death. She was stopped by Franklin and Kurt- and prodigy was soon outed for his wrong doings. Scott was soon found to be alive and reanimated as a pawn of the Hand. Rachel, enraged, swore vengance on those who hurt her father, and helped to retrieve him by diving further into the investigation. When the Illuminati tipped their hands and the Pheonix was unleashed unto them, Rachel watched from the skies with Franklin as Max plunged the world into darkness. Soon, as with all threats, they were extinguished, and the pheonix force was returned to Jean Grey, where it belonged. SAMPLE RP POST: Rachel watched her father from a distance. He looked so normal, so unaffected. He had just died. he had been turned into a sock puppet by the Hand- and yet somehow, here he was. How strong was he, that something like that didn't leave him a quivering mess in a dark corner somewhere? Cerainly stronger than her, stronger than she would ever be. She took off like a bullet into the sky, needing more than anything to clear her head. She loved this part most of all; the fact that she could just fly- with no one to ground her. It hadn't been like that before. If she was in the air, it was dangerous thing. There were drones that partolled; with guns and lasers that were ready to shoot her out of the sky. or worse, she was being controlled by those bastards and she was on her way to take out a poor innocent mutant; someone who had probably once been a friend. But up here, the world was beautiful. It was clear and crisp. It was full of possibility, and the truth of where she had been, where her life had started, seemed lightyears away. It's like the best parts of the world; her parents, her love, had all been transported her just for her; just so that she might actually be happy. So why did she feel so uneasy? She ducked and dove through the air, like she used to when there was someone on her tail. The world she left, it was still in her mind. All the horrors were there, in strak clarity; All the colors, all the images. They kept her awake at night. It was all gone, but it wasn't. Not really. :Franklin" she said, directly into his mind. : It's one of those days. We need to-I don't know- go to paris or Brooklyn or something: She winced. :I just wanna get my mind off things.: A wide smiled spread across her face as she saw him coming, instants after she had appeared in his mind. He was good like that, always there for her; always everywhere he needed to be. She did a loop in the air, reaching her hand out to him, sure that he would take it. |
