She stood in the center of the Danger Room, garbed in the traditional uniform style, unsure if it was necessary and beginning to wonder why she hadn't taken the initiative to at least customize a portion, if not something major. The others added colors or patterns, anything to declare it belonged to them, and perhaps that was part of the experience. Her outfit following graduation from the Legacy Squad -- which, she hoped, wasn't too far off in the future -- would see splashes of individuality, though exactly what that would be remained a mystery.

Returning to the task at hand Martha rocked on her heels, examining the vastness of her environment as she awaited her partner. It was almost intimidating without the holograms and programs, just empty space in all directions, and it induced an uncomfortably strong sense of anxiety. Her eyes were directed towards the floor where safety lay. The reason for this appointment was simple: something needed to be done about the development of her powers. The telepathy was progressing at a natural rate, which meant it was too slow for her liking. Granted, if it had been the opposite, if she was dealing with uncontrolled and unchecked growth like some, she'd have snapped on that metal cuff long ago. But Martha had problems specific to her, all which revolved around the radial nature of nearly every facet; she was learning to communicate to only a select few and formulated psionic blasts capable of targeting only a single individual, but the rest wasn't cooperating. Even the psychic interface couldn't be restricted to just one person, which made particular conversations either awkward or near impossible.

And added to that was the offense -- it was directed at everyone within range, no matter their affiliation or intent, and it posed a serious problem in the field. She needed to separate herself, to provide enough room where only the targets would experience ill effects and not any teammates. How would that work other times? How would she deal with the prospect of potentially stunning a comrade; with it becoming much easier to induce unconsciousness or even kill, there was more reason to worry. So, just like with Mrs. Russel, Martha had decided to speak to someone about this, hopefully determine a solution and start on the road to definitive progress. The choices were endless. The Institute was not lacking in psychics, especially not telepaths, but one name immediately sprung to mind. A powerful mutant and an even more powerful individual, she was a teacher Martha would be fortunate to learn from.

After all, the daughter of Scott Summers was bound to be impressive. Rachel may not have been of this timeline but her role was nonetheless important: to prevent whatever had caused her to jump here. Everyone always commented on Franklin's power, which, while undeniably potent and impressive and equally dangerous, certainly didn't overshadow Rachel's. She wielded both telepathy and telekinesis just as her mother did, and Martha failed to comprehend how someone could manage both, especially to such a high degree. She was troubled with telepathy alone; she'd likely crash with the "mind over matter" addition.

The sound of footsteps raised her gaze and Martha met Rachel with a smile, traversing the magnificence of the inactive Danger Room to meet the redhead halfway. "I wasn't sure where else to organize this. With how my powers are, this seemed to be the safest."
