January 22nd, Early Afternoon

The headaches had progressed from the occasional dull throb to a now-searing migraine that left the young woman with clenched fists and fluttering lids. Slowly, the sharp sting that tormented the center of Threnody’s forehead eased into a bothersome prickle. Unfortunately, it wasn’t much of a relief considering that the pain would wholly return in time, just as it’d done so for the past two days. The medical-grade pain killers she’d swiped from the pharmacy at work had done nothing to assuage her suffering either. Soon enough, Threnody was able to surmise that the reason behind the medicine’s failing wasn’t for lack of chemical efficiency, but that modern drugs just weren’t equipped to lesson one’s psychic pain.

Though not quite sure why she’d started feeling such irritation, she knew it was somehow tied to her abilities. A weakening of the psychic blocks placed years ago, perhaps? If such were true, it’d mean an explosion was imminent if she didn’t have them repaired. So here she sat in the clinical hall of the X-Mansion’s medical facilities, waiting for a nurse to alert her when whatever psychic surgeon they had on hand would become available.

The last time she’d been at the mansion, Threnody was wracked with pain and near-catatonic. She left that day with a clear head and a new lease on life. Naturally, she was fearful of having to return to such a horrid state and she couldn’t help but wonder if she could ever transcend the shackles of her deathly powers. As the necromancer’s mind raced, she didn’t even sense the influx of psychic force that traveled in her direction, swathed in leather trappings.

As Jono walked through the underbelly of the school carrying a box bound for the infirmary. Whatever was in it was marked with a hazard sign and a warning. Shrugging his shoulders he didn't really care to know what was in them. He wasn't much of a medical mind, but he did understand the need for different types of medicine and equipment. Whenever Jono had free time, he liked to do some errands to help out others around the mansion. He usually helped the teachers in their classes if they required the help, but most of the time he looked for things to occupy his time.

So today he was occupying his time by running errands around in the underbelly which he didn't mind at all. He enjoyed running around to help those that needed the help. Coming up to the infirmary door, he rested the box on his hip before punching in the given code. With a hiss the door opened and he hefted the box again before entering. Wearing a regular black t-shirt with a new pair of thin leather bandages, he walked up to the desk and rested the box on the counter. ::This is the crate that you guys ordered,:: he sent to the receptionist :: Whatever it is it's pretty heavy so be careful with that.:: Signing a release form Jono made sure the crate was secure on the counter before standing back and looking around the waiting area.

Seeing a girl he didn't recognize sitting in one of the chairs looking a little worse for wear. Bending slightly he looked her over before thinking into her mind ::You alright miss? You look at little sick there.:: Waving a hand in front of her eyes he noticed how she didn't really follow them with her eyes. That worried him slightly and he had no idea how to help her in this instance.

Threnody continued to stare at a singular spot upon the waiting room’s wall, her once-vivid hazel orbs now dull with tiresome gloom. Fighting off another migraine-adjacent spike of pain, the necromancer lightly clawed at her temples whilst her eyelids reflexively clenched in response. Her frustration and abstracted disposition led to her taking little note of the man who’d just entered the room.

::You alright, miss? You look a little sick there.::

The stranger’s words came to her attention rather late, and when she finally perceived that he was speaking to her, she raised her gaze to see him casually waving his palms across her view. She brusquely swatted away his hand and leaned back on the bench to take in the image of just who it was invading her personal space at the moment. The man’s attire gave Threnody the impression that he might’ve belonged to a Ramones cover band, possibly one that frequently played shows at your local leather bar.

“What gave it away?” she muttered facetiously, offering a pained chuckled as she made eye contact.

She found that they were quite endearing, his eyes. They were a deep chestnut, though they shone with an almost unnatural inner light. Granted, that could’ve been the gradual blur that seemed to be taking hold of Threnody’s vision as another jolt of pain snuck up on the young woman. She winced, thoughtlessly taking hold of the man’s wrist and squeezing it within a vice grip whilst she waited for the pain to subside. A moment later, and having realized what she’d done, she slowly unclasped her fingers from the stranger’s forearm before donning a remorseful glance.

“Sorry ‘bout that. I’m just… Hey, you wouldn’t happen to know what’s taking them so long, would you? I’ve been sitting here for the past half-hour and the receptionist told me it’d be ‘another five minutes’ about twenty minutes ago.”

Jono moved his hands back and forth in front of her vision hopefully trying to get her attention which he ended up succeeding in doing. She raised her eyes to catch his before swatting away his hands away from her face area. As she leaned back and investigated him, he investigated her. She seemed extremely troubled, in obvious pain and looking normal in a black tank top and a pair of jeans. When she asked him what gave away her being ill, he mentally chuckled into her mind. ::Well first off would be the gross look on your face and secondly the fact that you are in the infirmary,:: he sent back to her.

She was quiet for a period of time as she made eye contact with him and held it. Quick as a flash, she lashed out with her hand and locked her hand around his wrist. He was quickly taken aback by the power of the grip and the acct of grabbing his wrist. He couldn't even move his fingers the grip was so strong and he was amazed someone her size had that power. Though then again being in pain created supremely interesting effects. No sooner than she had grabbed him than she had blinked and realizing what she had done let go of his wrist.

Flexing his fingers he looked down at his wrist, noticing immediately that there seemed to be small cracks in his skin. Rubbing his other thumb over them he watched them as they vanished back into his skin. ::Wow you have one hell of grip, jesus that was strong.:: he sent to her softly. When she asked him why it was taking so long and he shrugged his shoulders. ::I don't know I'm really not a doctor person. I'm just a delivery boy today, though I can definitely ask for you if you'd like,:: he sent her ::What brings you to the infirmary today? I don't recall seeing you at the mansion. Were you once a student?::

::Wow, you have one hell of grip. Jesus, that was strong.::

“Sorry… It might’ve just been my body’s subconscious revenge after you just called me gross-looking.”

She didn’t necessarily take offense, but it was still a jab to her self-image. The necromancer didn’t care to be insulted, however unintentionally, on top of feeling like she’d just had her synapses wrung apart.

::I don't know, I'm really not a doctor person. I'm just a delivery boy today, though I can definitely ask for you if you'd like.::

“Nah, don’t bother,” she replied. “I must’ve asked the lady at the desk about twenty times. Tell you the truth, I’m not entirely convinced she ain’t a robot or a hologram.”

The office attendant was a portly sentinel that seemed to act solely as a barrier between Threnody and her peace of mind. She saw little effort on the woman’s part to assist her, and though perhaps it wasn’t customary to have someone barge into the medical wing demanding to see a telepath, the secretary’s lack of efficacy irritated the necromancer.

::What brings you to the infirmary today? I don't recall seeing you at the mansion. Were you once a student?::

“Nope, and I would’ve been a terrible one come to think of it,” she tittered awkwardly. “I’ve been here a couple of times before though, but I usually don’t have to stay for more than an hour or two. I’m just trying to get someone to see me before I bring down the building on top of us through no fault of my own. The usual, you know?”

She took a smothered breath, shooting a wicked glance at the glass partition that hid the clinical innards of the infirmary before turning back to the man.

“And you? You’ve already mentioned you’re not a ‘doctor person’, but you don’t really strike me as the type of guy who’d make a living as a delivery monkey.”

::Yeah sorry about saying you looked gross, I didn't mean it but you aren't looking really so good. So sorry for saying that,:: he sent to her as she commented back a little briskly. He did feel bad for his comment but what was said was said and there was nothing that could be done about it. So he took a seat beside her and crossed his arms as he looked at her out of the corner of his eye. ::I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Jono, nice to meet you,:: he sent to her as he extended a hand to her. Shaking her hand he withdrew his hand and crossed his arms again.

Her comment about the attendant made him laugh in her mind and he shrugged at her comment. ::Well I can't be sure, she might actually be a robot or a hologram, though the best way to tell would be to go up and poke her in the head,:: he sent her with a laugh ::though that might just end up angering her so I guess it's a catch twenty-two. Oh well then what can you do?:: When she told him that she would have made a terrible student and taking down the building.

::Oh I definitely know how that feels. Trust me I am a walking fire pit,:: he said before spreading the bandages around his chest area and exposing his furnace ::nothing to worry about to much. It's usually pretty calm but some days it can totally heat things up. Though I've never brought down a building before or I think I haven't.:: They sat for a brief period of time before she asked him a question about being a delivery monkey.

::Well usually when I'm not off eating bananas, I fight villains and bad guys and help teach the students when required,:: he said as briskly as her comment about being called gross ::that is most of the time. Though the X-men don't always work so we sometimes find things to do. I don't mind helping to deliver things for people around the school. It get's me out of the general area and even into the city. Though that is just on my off days.:: Raising an eyebrow he looked at her again before shrugging.
