April 14, 2014 11:59 am Xavier's _____________________ Piotr huffed and puffed as he came to a stop. Running wasn't usually this exhausting, except that today he had decided to run with the exceptional Danielle Moonstar. Of all the x-men in their age bracket, she was probably the most fit. She was the only one that he could think of that didnt have some type of physical advantage. Piotr was strong, durable, and never needed to breathe powered up. Roberto was strong and powered by the sun when powered up. Sam was almost as invulnerable as Pete when flying, Amara was a lava woman, Rahne was a werewolf, the list went on and on, and Danielle was usually keeping up with, or outdoing, her friends when it came to working out. That was a super feat unto itself. But anyway, here he stood, huffing and puffing, but still standing aright and looking slightly down to Dani's face. "That is the last time I turn a 'natural' jog into a race with you." It had been suggested that Piotr not power up, then smack talk had been made, and then Piotr put his foot in his mouth. It was simple as that. "So at any rate. She and I have been eating together each week, and so far she hasn't seemed to be too uncomfortable with me. There's still things my sestra won't tell me, but I think that I am starting to accept this. Or I'm running out of ways to try to trick her into opening up with me." Piotr finished his story about his sister from before the race had begun. Sometimes it was easy to pick up right where you left off in a conversation. Dani was an easy person to talk to like that. Wiping his forehead free of sweat, Piotr turned and walked through the doorway, heading toward the cafeteria. In line, he took to heaping food on his plate in such a way that the workers were indeed shocked. He'd not eaten very much in the months Pete spent moping. It was because someone had called him too skinny that the two's run had come to fruition. "And I'm not too skinny. Just because I'm not some hulking behemoth doesn't make me skinny." He said, taking a second portion of lasagna onto his plate and turning to find a seat. "So I heard about your contes with Roberto. Did things get interesting? At first I wished it was me in that strip-workout contest with you." He said, lamely failing at trying not to flirt with her before taking a heaping forkful of the mountain of food into his mouth. |

Exercising was simply Dani’s thing. She easily accepted she lacked the advantages of strength, durability, and a healing factor. She couldn’t fly. Couldn’t create force and blasts out of thin air. She simply had to rely on her own wits and decided if she were to be a baseline human, aside from her mental projections, she could at least be the best in athletics. It gave her an outlet and most of all, helped hone in her competitive spirit in a more productive manner. Anyone who knew Dani, knew she liked to talk smack, so getting Piotr riled up and race her in his natural form was a feat in itself. They finished the conversation about his sister to which she added, “It’ll get better with time I bet. She’s young Piotr and you’re an older brother. Girls don’t tell their brothers everything. I highly doubt Paige tells Sam half of what she does.” She had cleaned up as much as she could, when they headed towards the cafeteria, but not before using a bit of purell. There was something unsanitary about sweaty hands touching clean cool metallic. Focusing on protein and various vegetables and fruits as desserts she only gave Piotr a sly smile, when she saw the food he piled on. Her seconds looked like mere additions to food, when compared to the Russian. “Hey now skinny, got enough food don’t you think?” She teased, when he decided to defend his alleged “skinny” stature. Boys were so silly and fun to tease at time. "So I heard about your contest with Roberto. Did things get interesting? At first I wished it was me in that strip-workout contest with you." She held on to the tray tightly as she thundered with laughter. She had heard about Roberto and Piotr’s little strip for charity thing. What was it with them and stripping. As they found a place to sit, she continued to laugh, finding it impossible to control herself at the moment. “Oh, they got interesting of course. Mostly Roberto getting naked, but I think he wants to be a nudist deep down inside. And of course I won, Pete. I’m awesome like that.” She chomped on a carrot, before continuing. “Don’t know why you and Berto are even interested in such contests if you guys both know you’re going to lose against me,” she said thinking over the practicality of the matter. It was too much of a sure bet that Dani would win, so why embarrass themselves in that matter? Eh, she didn’t pretend she understood Berto or Piotr. They did after all strip for fun. “Besides, why do a strip-workout contest with me, when we both know you like to strip in front of larger crowds,” she said with a wink. “Don’t feel ashamed, you guys should be able to show off your body. So...have you gone out with the girl that bought you? I mean, what was that like? Stripper and charity, kinda of a crazy combination, but hey, you do what you have to do to help out Mutant Town.” Not that Dani would ever strip, but she wasn’t one to judge either. However, that didn’t prevent her from admitting she didn’t quite understand their methods. “Next time you guys do that, we should change the charity event. Maybe instead of stripping you guys could lift weight for charity or oohh you could sponsor someone instead, in case you felt uncomfortable stripping. Takes out the stage fright factor, right?” |

“It’ll get better... She’s young... Girls don’t tell everything. I highly doubt Paige tells Sam half of what she does.” "And let us hope we never find out things she does before he finds out. It would be our necks in a noose if we knew something and never told him, Tovarischa." Once in the lunch line, things progressed away from younger sisters, which was good, considering he noticed the apple of his eye sitting with a group of her peers on the other end of the room. He gave his Snowflake a friendly wave, which seemed to make his sister try very hard at pretending she not only didn't see Pete, but that she didn't even know who he was. Weird. Piotr turned back to his goal. Dani. No, Food. Food. “Hey now skinny, got enough food don’t you think?” Piotr saw Dani smile at him as she compared their two plates. Rolling his eyes, he allowed a small smile of his own to spread for her. "Just don't forget, this is because I'm hungry, not because I'm getting tiny." And he flexed a still massive arm for emphasis. He wasn't quite as defined as Piotr liked to keep himself, but darn it, he was still the Colossus. The. He brought up her contest with Roberto and she laughed until they had taken their seats. He drummed his fingers on the table, waiting for her mirth to subside long enough for an answer. Honestly, girls found the weirdest things to giggle about. Made him wonder if she was laughing about Roberto's performance, or if she was laughing at him trying to tag on a flirt at the end. “Oh, [things] got interesting ...I’m awesome like that. Don’t know why you and Berto are even interested ... you guys both know you’re going to lose... " Piotr wanted to suggest that maybe they liked seeing how much of Dani's clothes removed and that getting beat was just the way of the game, but he didn't think she'd like finding out about that, so he stayed quiet. Until she brought up the charity event. "How did you find out about that? Roberto and I swore not to... Roberto! Suka!" Piotr groaned loud and uncomfortably. He'd forgotten about the video Berto had taken of Pete's performance. “Don’t feel ashamed, you guys should be able to show off your body. So...have you gone out with the girl ...” Oh God. "Oh God. Please let's not talk about this. It's not right. I don't do... that's not... look, I didn't know that it was going to happen. We were dragged there by a friend," Oh he was mortified. "And we had a nice time together. It was pleasant after the circus show. And maybe I might ask her out a second time, I'm not sure." “Next time ... or oohh you could sponsor someone... right?" "Are you volunteering?" Piotr was quick to turn this back around on Dani, "because a beautiful lady like you, maybe Paige, maybe a couple others, and we could raise the admission price, Nyet?" Then a thought came to him. "Wait, if you know about it... Oh shit, Illyana!" Wit another groan, Piotr leaned back in his chair and his his face behind his hands. "Why me? Why me?!" |

"Are you volunteering?" Piotr was quick to turn this back around on Dani, "because a beautiful lady like you, maybe Paige, maybe a couple others, and we could raise the admission price, Nyet?" Dani began to laugh loudly at the incredulous idea. Who in the world would want to see her half naked in a bikini? Or less? With Dani it wasn’t as much low self-esteem as it was pragmatic thinking. She had the sense to know she had a great body, but the kind of women men would tend to shout and holler at had bigger breasts...wait no...it was something else. They were softer. More womanly. They had the ability to flutter their eyelashes and make men’s hearts palpitate. The only way Dani got the guys to get their heart racing was if she was racing them or trying to convince an unlucky friend to play a game of hockey with her, as she was known to foul and slam players against the rink. She was a tomboy. And tomboys simply weren’t the type to hold a man’s attention. Which was okay, but Piotr seemed to not be aware of that until he had his own terrible epiphany. "Wait, if you know about it... Oh shit, Illyana!" Wit another groan, Piotr leaned back in his chair and his his face behind his hands. "Why me? Why me?!" “For it is Murphy’s law.” She looked discreetly to her side to see what Illyana was doing and how she was reacting and the girl seemed to be expertly ignoring the two of them, which to her was a good sign. “She’s ignoring you, that’s good actually.” She paused then for Piotr’s benefit. “If she was hysterical then the rumor would spread across more quickly. Her acting like her usual self,” which included ignoring him, “means she’s protecting you too through her own selfishness. She doesn’t want people to know, so she’s gonna stop it before it becomes an issue for her. That’s what I think.” Taking another bite of her meal she looked at Piotr’s meal and used his momentary distraction to steal something from his tray, which she hadn’t taken for herself earlier. Mmm, very yummy. She gave Piotr a half apologetic smile and shrugged. “Eh, the food was there for the taking. Sacrifices must be made for the X-Men time and time again. Speaking of sacrifices are you seeing anyone new? I dunno, I get the feeling that you want to square things up with your sister before you try and I’m here to tell you different. Get your flirt on. The key to a happy family is balance. You have to be happy with yourself and where you are, before you can work on them. It’s something I should have told myself a long time ago, so I’m giving you free advice. You may pay me my $30 an hour therapy bill later.” |

Dani began to laugh , and Piotr shook his head. She didn't get it. Probably didn't occur to her that she was a beautiful woman who was fun to be around. Sure, other women were more 'girly', more into chick flicks or fashion, or whatever counted as 'girly stuff' now a days, but not everyone was only interested in women like that. In fact, Pete knew a lot of other men who liked women who had a more rugged lifestyle about them. Something about those types of girls made men feel as if they didn't have to have kid gloves on around them. I don't know, maybe I'm alone in that. I mean, I turn metal for Christ's sake. “I'm serious, Tovarischa. I can think of at least one man who'd pay everything he had just... Uh... I mean..." He left the sentence to drown away and die in the silence. She was focusing now on his sister, and his nerves for that weren't helping his stupid mouth. “She’s ignoring you, that’s good... she’s gonna stop it before it becomes an issue for her...” "Well, thank goodness for small miracles. That's definitely not one thing I want to deal with, my sister being mortified by how much of my body is on the Internet." Dani used his familial distraction to steal something from his plate, though he was quick enough to watch her eat the morsel. She gave Piotr a smile and a shrug, and he returned it with a half-hearted grimace. Groaning, he shook his head and slid his plate closer to himself and further from her reach. "There's a whole line of food on that buffet, my friend. I swear you're like Illyana, or my... my... Like Laynia..." He faltered, almost telling her she was like a girlfriend for stealing his food, "well, I mean, she used to do that before we separated." He finished instead. Lamely. "...Are you seeing anyone new? Get your flirt on... You may pay me my $30 an hour therapy bill later.” For a moment he wasn't able to answer, bringing up Laynia hadn't been a big plan to get them on this subject, not at all. He didn't really want to talk of it now that it was out there, but he couldn't change the subject so quickly. "Well, no, I'm not really seeing anyone." And then came the call back, it just shot into his head and brought a sly smile with it. "Why? Are you volunteering?" Pleased with himself that that probably rattled her, he forked a mouthful of his meal into his chompers and chewed to hide the lingering grin. |

"Well, no, I'm not really seeing anyone." And then came the call back, it just shot into his head and brought a sly smile with it. "Why? Are you volunteering?" Dani had begun drinking her water when Piotr made her nervous with the worst question over. She started choking on the water, coughing, and then looked around to see if anyone other than Piotr noticed. “Wh-what? Volunteering?” She leaned towards him. “Why would I be volunteering?” She sat back in her seat, now flustered as she caught wind of this flirty attempt of his. She was quite repelled by the thought of dating. Romance. Sex. Hookups. It just seemed much too complicated and required the person to be something they were not. What she wanted was the opposite of what most people wanted in dating, and then there was the whole experience part and maybe she had liked Sam, but she gave up on that little notion years ago. So when all you did was focus on friendships and good times you simply began to ignore what was right before you. Dani would have never picked up on someone flirting with her, unless she was hit with a straight offer. Subtlety was never her strong suit. “I thought we were talking about Laynia?” She scratched the back of her head. “Don’t you still like her? I mean I can’t volunteer myself as tribute when you like Laynia and I’m not volunteering-PIOTR STOP SMILING AT ME LIKE THAT.” She crossed her arms in defiance and gave him an angry little pout. She slumped down in her chair and didn’t know what to do at this point anymore. She felt the blood rush to her face and leaned her head back as she thought of a retort, but her mind was blank. “You suck. I can’t think of anything to say to you now.” Sitting properly in her chair once again, she counted to three hoping the blush on her face was fading away. Then she started to laugh softly. Dating Piotr? No, not just dating Piotr, but dating. She wanted to try it maybe, but something about her and dating seemed humorous as if though such things weren’t fitting for her. Maybe, she was scared, but quite frankly she felt a bit lost at the prospect of dating. What she wanted was a beginners course, but then again who would have that type of patience? Nope, she resigned to the fact that she made a better friend than girlfriend and she was okay with it for the most part. She’d try dating, but with someone who knew less than her, though who that poor man would be she hadn’t a clue. “Thank god you were just kidding, right? Me dating you, ha!” She smiled and reached over to touch Piotr’s arm. “You know I could never date anyone when, I dunno. It’s been,” and then she started counting on her fingers the last time she went on a date, which had been years and once she counted passed three she began to blush again. She leaned over the table and pushed her tray aside to avoid getting food on her, so she could whisper something in his ear. Dani placed her hands on his shoulders and said in a low voice, “I haven’t been on a date in years. The last time I kissed someone it was a friend back in Colorado maybe after the Skrull attack? Terrible, huh?” Just as quickly she sat back down in her chair and crossed her arms. “Trust me, you don’t ever want me to volunteer. I suck at dating. Majorly, which is fine, but you want someone with,” and then she lowered her voice and stretched out her arms, “a whole lot more experience than me,” she said the final part with a smile. Her love life wasn’t her favorite topic, but she didn’t mind being honest with her friends. Besides, if Piotr wanted to date it had to be someone who at least knew how to date. Someone bright. Upbeat. A girl who could challenge Piotr in all the right ways and was herself around him. Like Jubilee. Or Storm. Yeah, definitely Storm. “Have you ever thought of hitting on Storm? She’s smart, pretty-the kinda girl you deserve.” |
