May 3rd Noon ___________________________________________________ Talia was glad to be back in her own skin, so to speak. Not that hers had actually changed in anything except for appearance. But that was one thing she definitely enjoyed about the mansion. It was home, even if it wasn't the same home. It would always be a place where she belonged and right now a new, or possible old, problem had peeked it's horrible little head out. Her blue fingers clutched the papers despite the fact that they would have stayed even if she were barely holding on. But she definitely didn't appreciate finding glimpses of her old life in a place that she was trying to save. One of the other three might disagree and say it was some sort of sign that she and Valeria noticed it. She had to look through it, research to find more proof that it was what she thought it was. Little signs in papers that would normally not really stand out. She'd heard rumor that Kitty was down in the lower levels but finding a girl that walks through walls isn't exactly the easiest of tasks.... unless you can teleport around them. Or there was always the easy way, which happened to be a lot less effort. "Shadowcat your presence is needed on sublevel one." Talia chirped into the com on the wall, pausing briefly before a broad grin flashed over her features. "Entrance fee is cookie. Surprise me with the kind." Talia respected Kitty. To be more precise she respected Kate and only recently conceded to not really knowing Kitty. It was strange for her to have someone be in charge of her more than Rachel had been. Heck, Talia had run the X-men when Rachel was taken by the HOUND program. It was not an easy adjustment to fall in line. She did, but there was a natural resistance. Talia liked to think she was improving. She understood that Kitty was her leader and was every just as bit of Kate, just younger. She wasn't misconstruing her that way, she simply was struggling with authority as this was more than she'd had since she was a little kid. If she didn't 'get' that, she probably wouldn't be waiting for Kitty to share this development with her....right? |

Since the fall of the Illuminati things had quieted down once again for the X-Men. Well as much as things could quite down for super humans in this crazy world. But things were not back to normal not even by a long shot. Logan had left the school once again to chase his past. Cyclops, his wife and future daughter Rachel had left as well to aid in the search for Magneto. With Rachel’s absence the reigns of the Legacy Squad fell into Kitty's hands. So for the meantime she was grateful for the downtown between world destroying events. Nevertheless the job even during the downtime wasn't without its duties. Cyclops was a stickler for paperwork and reports and even though he wasn't around or exactly in control of the X-Men those duties fell to Hank McCoy and Warren Worthington for the moment. She still wanted to make sure all of her reports were in order for whomever may want to see them. That was when she heard the intercom and the familiar voice of Kurt Wagners future daughter Talia. As Kitty listened to the message she was initially worried. Talia had used Kitty's code name of Shadowcat and not called her Kate which meant this had to be something official and perhaps X-Menly. Although when Talia joked about a cookie as a toll, Kitty was a bit more relived maybe it wasn't as serious as she originally thought. So Kitty put down her pen and set her direction first to the kitchen popping up through the floor and quickly scurrying down the halls without much problem of any obstacles in her way as she reached a hand into the cabinet that usually had some boxes of cookies and pulled out an unopened bag of Oreos. Satisfied with her score she dropped down through the floor once again and ended up in the sub-basement near where Talia had requested to see her. After walking around for a brief moment she found Talia and held up the bag of Oreos. “Well, You said the toll would be 'A' Cookie right? So that means the rest of the bag is for me.” Kitty teased as she walked into the room and put the bag down on a nearby table. “So, Whats up buttercup?” Kitty asked. |

"I'm very tempted to spend the rest of the day playing King of the Cookie with you now." Talia said with a slight smirk, hopping over to occupy herself with a seemingly senseless picking of a 'single' oreo. Taking a couple she popped one in her mouth and offered the folder of clippings and her self-made reports over to Kitty. She needed the cookie to give her a minute to remember that this wasn't some revelation to Rachel where they'd share in the discovery. Kitty wasn't from the future, she didn't know what this would become so she wasn't going to react the way that her brain told her that people should react to it. These clippings, without her own explanation, wouldn't look like anything more than a weird collection. Gulping down she motioned with her hand to the folder. "More than a handful of attacks, mostly unnoticed or unreported in what's actually happening. If I hadn't seen it for myself I wouldn't have thought to look." She moved over and pilfered through until she pulled out the biggest picture in there and even then it wasn't very clear. She tapped lightly on the group in the back that was being photographed. "Anti-mutant zelots with weaponry. Right now it's not the worst thing in the world, but it won't take very long for them to change it around. What it becomes is not fun at all. It's taken out more than a few of our hideouts on it's good days. On a bad one...." She shook her head and slipped the picture back in. "We need to take care of this somehow." Taking a moment to eat the other cookie she snagged she watched Kitty carefully, trying not to measure her against the Kate she knew. As Rachel liked to remind her, it wasn't fair despite the fact that this Kitty was showing to be a good leader all on her own. "What do you think?" |

Talia joked that she could play King of the Cookie with Kitty while handing over a folder to which Kitty gave a grin back and held the folder with one hand and taking her free hand and putting it on the bag of cookies. “I am afraid you would find yourself quite out matched in that tilt.” Kitty said phasing the bag through the desk into a draw, Before raising it back up through the wood. Kitty then focused on the folder and the news paper clippings and Talia's own reports inside. “What is all of this?” Kitty asked quizzically. To which Talia quickly explained about numerous attacks some largely unreported or half reported the information seemed sketchy but in Kitty's experience the articles were nothing new or entirely interesting. Atrocities against mutants and metahumans have been a very common occurrence since their kind had become public knowledge. But Talia continued as she further explained the Anti-Mutant zealots had weapons and soon it would be a bigger problem than it is now. “What makes you think that?” Kitty asked forgetting slightly for a moment that Talia was from the future and would have a better stranglehold on what could perhaps be a bigger issue in a few months or years than most. “I think this is a very serious issue. But how is it all connected? Anti-Mutant groups like this are always popping up here and there... But usually devoid of any central leadership... It's like fighting a ghost or hydra you chop off 1 head two more grow in its place.” However as Kitty continued to look over some of the articles and reports she noticed something. These weren't all normal attacks the weapons named in the articles and reports were way above the pay grade of normal backstreet hooligans. “Wait a minute...” Kitty said slowly. “How did these people get their hands on this kind of equipment? If they have this kind of fire power this is a very serious problem, More serious than anyone might think. Are you sure this is all correct?” Kitty asked with some concern but she knew Talia wouldn't have brought this to her attention if the information wasn't correct. |
