May had brought warmth with it. While it was by no means hot outside, Julian was pleased to be able to go outside without the multiple layers he'd been bundled up with for the past few month. He sat outside, pulled away from the hustle and bustle that buzzed along the grounds, looking out over the lake. Occasionally his mind wandered and he'd focus in on one group of students or another, letting his vision zoom in before pulling himself back. But mostly, Julian was lost somewhere deep in his thoughts.

He did not think about her every day. Occasionally he'd be too busy to let his mind wander to the dark haired woman with the smirk constantly playing on her lips. It wasn't every day that he ran through conversations and wondered if he ever crossed her mind. It was only every time he had some solitude that his mind wandered towards Raven. Which in itself was a little distressing. He knew damn well that she was probably not the best choice for a guy like him. Not like that exactly changed much. It'd been this cycle of thoughts that had begun to drag on the scotsman, whose normally chipper disposition had steadily been declining in the last month or so. He honestly wasn't trying to be more recluse, but it seemed that all his free time was now spent working in the infirmary, burying his regular chit-chat with the medical staff under as much work as he could possibly load onto himself. He didn't even want to think about how much medicine he'd started to take, with or without the headaches.

"Oh Julian, what 'ave yah' got yer'self into...?" He grumbled to himself before the sound of footsteps grabbed his attention. Turning his head around to glance behind him, he smiled a little at the man who approached. He was still a little ways off and it was enough time for Julian to erase any last traces of the grimace that had been set on his face. His own bad mood didn't need to be spoiling any moods with friends. He sat up a little straighter and pulled his wings closer as Piotr approached.

"Hey, haven't talked with yah' in a bit. What can I do yah' fer', Pete?"

"Oh Julian, what 'ave yah' got yer'self into...?" Piotr heard his comrade grumble to himself before the Russian's boot steps alerted the Scotsman that his privacy was beig interrupted. Piotr returned his friend's smile as he came nearer, politely taking long enough so that Julian could pull himself together enough to deal with company.

"Hey, haven't talked with yah' in a bit. What can I do yah' fer', Pete?"

"Oh," the soviet began, groaning a bit as he sat next to Julian and handed him an ice cream cone that matched his own, "I didn't come out for any favor, Tovarisch. I just noticed that you might be heading for the same mood swing I fell into at the beginning of the year. Wanted you to know that I'm here if you need to speak to somebody." Piotr gazed out over the lake, idly tasting his ice cream and sitting in silence for a few moments, before he looked to his winged companion.

"You know, we were helping the citizens in mutant town get things in order just after the Phoenix was defeated, and in the middle of the day, I was on the verge of asking Laynia if she felt we were ready to take our relationship to a more serious level. She got around to explaining why it wasn't a good idea for us to stay together anymore, and that we should call it off before I could, though... Was so shocked I still stayed the rest of the day to help her and the rest of the community. I got bad, lost weight, stopped taking care of myself, I mean, you've seen me. Then a friend came back and I suddenly thought about moving on to someone else. Now she's gone too..."

Suddenly he realized he'd dropped a ton of drama right in Julian's lap and his face reddened. Sighing, he stared at his ice cream for a second and started over.

"I am sorry, Julian. Did not mean to bring you down, comrade. I was only coming out here to share ice cream with you."

Julian watched in silence as Piotr came up to him and, much to his surprise, handed him an ice cream. Not like he was going to deny something like that of course. He smiled a little over at the russian for a moment before he shifted a little and cleared his throat, uncomfortable.

"Me? Oh tis', I mean really I..." Julian let out a long sigh before he turned his gaze forward and gently bit his bottom lip. "'m hung up over somethin' I probably shouldn'ta' gotten involved with in th' first place." He offered a slight shrug before the two of them lapsed into silence. His head perked up for a moment again when Pete began to speak again and he glanced over, pushing his hair out of his face and listening quietly.

Now that was something he could empathize with in particular. He scoffed sourly as Pete finished and ran his tongue over his teeth before sitting up straight and nodding.

"Don't think twice about it, mate. What good 'm I as a friend if not ta' listen? Plus ya' gave m'ice cream, so now 'm eternally in debt ta' ya'." He sighed and nodded a little. "No, I understand. Well, kind of. I mean, not specifically tha' but... women.." Tis' not yah' that would be puttin' me in a bad mood, I promise yah'. An' 's not even tha' 'm upset persay yah see I just..."

He let out a long breath before glancing back over at Pete and offering an apologetic smile. "Please stop me when I start rambelin' an' I know tha' I do." He stretched out a little, letting his wings fluff up and cool air started to flow over his back. "Now, besides troublesome women, wha' is goin' on in yer' life, eh? Don't ever see yah' in the infirmary, so we don't chat much."

"'m hung up over somethin' I probably shouldn'ta' gotten involved with in th' first place."

"Hehehe, if I e told my story right, I believe you and I are in the same boat, Tovarisch."

"Don't think twice about it, mate... I understand. Well, kind of... women... I just..."

Julian let out a long breath and Piotr nodded in understanding. Sometimes there just wasn't enough words to try and explain women, or one's feelings about them.

"Oh, you are not rambling, trust me, I follow you perfectly."

Julian leaned back, his wings puffing out, probably felt more relaxed that way. Piotr had never profoundly considered the difference having more than four limbs would bring, but he could see how having wings, be they feathered or leathery, would certainly cut out a bit of air circulation around one's backside. In truth, Piotr had occasionally realized how lucky he was that his physical manifestation of his powers really wasn't all that radical. He still looked human, even if he was metal. Hell, once he was asked if his form was just a sophisticated mech suit, and he'd had to power down just to convince the man that it was really just him.

Then that guy didn't want anything to do with him after that. Didn't want to be associated with a mutant in an airport in any way.

"What else is bothering me?" Piotr repeated, "Well, I found out that I'm a father. About two months ago a few of us were pulled into the Savage Lands, and I found out that I had a son. That was quite a week, certainly."

He took another lick from his ice cream, and stared at the cone a moment, contemplating briefly how he had one of the worst eating habits of the people he knew, and yet he was not only fit, but faring on the side of too skinny still.

"Why does everything has to come out so complicated? You're supposed to fall in love, get married, build a home, then have children. Children with your wife. Why can't we just have at least one thing normal, Jules?"
