June 7, 2014 Evening This wasn’t a going away party, because Rahne was missing and quite frankly she’d been with X-Force for quite a while now. This was more of a I need another excuse to meet up with the X-Men reunion and this time she sent Proudstar and Piotr separate texts telling them they were needed at Sal’s Bar for drinking and merriment. Originally her plan had been to celebrate Friday the 13th with them, but in case any of them became too drunk, that would ruin her plans with Starsmore later on, so she had to make tonight’s date work. Since it was such a last minute invitation, if at least one of them showed up all would be well. Thankfully they were both there and Dani responded by running towards Piotr and bear hugging him and then lightly punching Jimmy’s arm. “You guys are here! We’re going to celebrate the only way we know how. With a drinking contest!” She then pinched Piotr’s side. “I’m kidding. I just want beer and be around good company. That’s a quite normal request.” Dani had just arrived and as usual had only ordered water until the crew arrived. She didn’t believe in drinking before the fun came or drinking alone in a bar. That was more Logan’s territory and only he managed to pull it off without it being quite depressing. Dani could hold her liquor, but she was no Logan. As she had looked forward to this night out on the town, Dani even went as far as to wear a nice tight fitting pair of jeans and a purple tank top that showed a sliver of skin near her belly. Somewhere in the back of her mind she knew some would consider it sexy, but dammit it was hot and she wanted to be comfortable around her male friends. Sexy was the last thing she was thinking when she thought about how she really wanted to wear shorts. They looked nice as always and after she gave them a once over and looked at the crowd quickly to gauge her potential wingman status. She was certain she would be an amazing one, because she really didn’t care who these guys ended up with. Dani just wanted them to be happy. “First drinks on me.” She walked over to the bar and ordered three beers for them- Saint Arnold’s Fancy Lawnmower to be exact, because something about Texas beer just amused her enough. She liked all types of beer and was pretty open to tasting new things here and there. As she leaned over to grab the beers from the bartender and gave him her credit card for the night she walked towards her group and handed each of them a cold ice bottle. “Alright, so here are the rules. If one of us gets trashed it’s the responsibility of the other two to get them home safe and sound or let them crash at your place. Two, if this bromance is to flourish we must be good wingmen and help one another out if someone dares to flirt with you two guys. Three, Piotr will probably get drunk first, so we must pretend he isn’t, so that he may save face. How does that sound?” For some reason someone in the background played an old Weezer song, “Buddy Holly,” and that just put a bigger smile on her face. It was the perfect song, light, fun, and fit her mood at the moment. Frustrated with her hair, she gave Piotr her beer bottle. She quickly braided it into a long side ponytail and felt better instantly as to not have all that hair in the way. Dani really loved Proudstar and Piotr for very different reasons. Proudstar, because he understood her in ways perhaps no one else ever would. There was a special connection and being that Natives and Native mutants were rare, there was bound to be a sort of kinship between the two. Piotr on the other hand was the guy she enjoyed to sass and challenge at every moment. He indulged her free spirited nature and occasionally even kept her on her toes. That wasn’t an easy feat, mind you. “So cheers,” she said as they all tapped the neck of the bottles making that fun clinking sound, “to good friends and whatever tonight may bring.” |

Drinks were one thing James Proudstar didn't pass up. So when he got a text from Dani telling him that he was needed at Sal's, it didn't take long to grab his wallet and be out the door. It was a little last minute, but he didn't exactly have a ton of plans that he had to juggle. It was nice to go out and get drinks with friends, to be honest. He'd been isolating himself lately and now was time to try and get himself to peek back out of the cracks. While he wasn't particularly fond of New York, he did like Sal's. Mutant friendly places were always so much better. As he was about to step inside, he noticed Piotr was here as well. Dani was on them in a heartbeat, however, and Jim watched as she wrapped herself around Pete before she lightly hit him. A smirk tugged on his lips and he gently shoved back against her. "Well hey there yourself, Dani." He looked her over for a moment. She looked much more made up than usual. He cleared his throat and pulled at the collar of his shirt for a moment as Dani rushed off to go get drinks. The button up he'd thrown on had a higher collar than he'd worn lately. That, teamed up with a pair of jeans and size 23 boots, Jimmy was looking decently sharp. He'd even gone and shaved. He glanced over at Pete before leaning on the table nodding at Dani's back. "She looks like trouble, doesn't she?" His gaze flitted over the crowd briefly, looking for anyone who gave him a bad feeling or looked terribly suspicious. But everyone seemed to check out at first glance, so that was good. He looked up and nodded at Dani as she handed him a bottle and took a sip. He snorted a little at the rules and took another drink before looking at Dani and raising an eyebrow. "Piotr first, really? That's a big assumption, little lady." His tone was light enough, all though he did have doubts that Dani would be able to out drink Piotr. He was also a little amused at the wingman part. He saw the music switch put Dani in an even better mood, which was good. Jim was glad that she was happy. He'd been friends with her long enough to feel a bond between them, and they just had a quiet connection he appreciated. Piotr was a different case. He'd been through hell and back it seemed with him, and while he'd never been specifically close, he knew him well enough to enjoy an evening out and to feel a sense of loyalty and belonging with him. Even with all the other people in the bar. He raised his drink when Dani called for cheers before taking another sip out of his beer. Tonight might turn out to be a good night of drinking. He just hoped that Dani wasn't going to get herself into too much trouble. |

Dani responded to pete and Jimmy's entrance by running towards Piotr and squeezing him in a hug that briefly made Piotr stiffen. he quickly returned the hug, but no doubt she would have noticed. She moved from hugging Pete to punching Jimmy’s arm, and the Russian sighed a bit in awkward relief. No comment was a good thing. “You guys are here!" "Da, Tovarischa, we couldn't say no to a request from one of our best friends, Nyet?" "We’re going to celebrate the only way we know how... beer and be around good company...” Thank goodness, Piotr hasn't gone out to drink heavily in a long time, and as out of practice as he was, the soviet was surely worried that he would make a drunken fool of himself. Almost immediately, Piotr noticed Dani was wearing a nice tight fitting pair of jeans and a purple tank top that showed a sliver of midriff. “First drinks on me.” She called, walking to the bar. Jimmy cleared his throat and pulled at the collar of his shirt for a moment as Dani rushed off, and the Siberian had to agree. "She looks like trouble, doesn't she?" Jimmy scanned the crowd while he spoke, and Piotr caught himself doing the same. "Trouble indeed. Five dollars says we have to pull some drunk away from her before she hurts him tonight." He was going to continue, but the more lovely of the two Native Americans had returned with beer. “Alright, so here are the rules. ...Piotr will probably get drunk first... How does that sound?” "Piotr first, really? That's a big assumption, little lady." And there was Jimmy, getting Pete's back even before he could open with his own protest at the claim. "Buddy Holly" played in the background, and Piotr smiled, watching his two friends relax into a mood more akin to having fun, Dani temporarily taking time to braid her hair. Oh, they were going to be stopping a drunk from getting an ass kicking from her for sure. Rasputin raised his glass at Danielle's toast, taking a swig of the brew with gusto. "So, how's things with X-Factor?" Piotr hasn't had his turn talking to Dani about leaving yet, but he wasn't exactly trying to do that now. He just wasn't the best at small talk. "And you Jimmy, I am really glad you are back to take your classes back... Da?" |

“I always make the best assumptions,” she told Jimmy and then turned towards Piotr listening to him when he asked questions about her move to X-Factor and Jimmy’s return. It felt right to put the limelight on Jimmy as she drank her beer in peace and looked around the crowd to see if anyone interesting arrived. There were some men off to the far corner laughing and occasionally giving Dani a sharp look, which caused her to give them a warning glance. They probably meant no harm, but she didn’t want them to pick a fight with Piotr or Jimmy. Quite frankly, if she had to, she’d take them on for her friends. She wasn’t one to back down from a fight, especially if some nut tried to fight her boys. Or maybe she was just being paranoid. She gulped down the beer pretty quickly and placed it on a nearby end table. She was about to order a second, when a woman handed her a drink. “Compliments of the gentlemen at the corner,” the woman said and walked away. Sniffing the drink and Dani looked over at the corner where those men congregated and gave a half smile as she wasn’t sure what to do now. She shouldn’t have accepted it. Raising the glass, she mouthed, “Cheers,” and then focused on her friends. Because whatever just happened wasn’t just embarrassing- it was weird. She didn’t come here to hit on anyone. In fact, she never...well, no scratch that. She held on to the glass and then looked at her two friends curious about their private lives for the first time. She didn’t like to pry, but it did make her wonder, what these two men found attractive. Dani had an inkling the kind of women Jimmy was attracted too, even if he denied it himself. They were of the Irish variety. Any other woman was simply to pass the time, but Piotr? Hmm, she didn’t know. She was fortunate to have their friendship and knew better than to ditch her friends to practice her flirting skills, as that’s all that would happen, if she even managed to flirt properly, which she doubted. Rahne once cleverly told her that her flirting skills were akin to a bull in a fine china store. “I’m glad you’re back,” she told Jimmy. “About time you came back too. The X-Men wouldn’t be the same without you,” she told him bluntly. Ah, but it did make Piotr’s earlier question more interesting. Yeah, they hadn’t discussed her departure and people were either upset, supportive, or a combination of the two. He seemed...she wasn’t sure...distant? Upset about something not related. She couldn’t tell, but it was good to see that he came. She actually worried he wouldn’t show up. “Oh Piotr,” she said with a smile, touching his arm, the other hand still holding on to the drink, “X-Factor is fine, but I got something much more interesting to tell you.” She smiled. “Haroshenikie nozhki, a kagda ani atkryvayootsya¹?” She stopped and looked at his reaction thinking she mispronounced it...possible. Or maybe it was something men told women instead, due to gendered language, like in Spanish. Gordo for fat guy. Gorda for fat girl. “You probably should have told me that. I just wanted you...to know how I felt.” That he was a very important friend in her life. It was really sweet that Jamie taught her that bit of Russian. The Russian language was a bit too complicated and for a simple phrase such as, ‘Friend, you are important,’ it sure did use a lot of words. “What do you think of my Russian?” She asked Piotr earnestly. “Jamie taught me. Don’t think he knew Apache though. Sorry Jimmy.” Dani used her shoulder to lightly bump into Piotr as she took a sip of the drink that was given to her. “Mmm good beer. We definitely need more. Who’s buying the second round?” For what it was worth, Dani kept looking back and forth from Piotr to Jimmy giving them equal amounts of attention, though a nagging sensation told her maybe she wanted to pay attention to her Russian friend just a bit more. Though, she hadn’t a clue what to do other than smile and be herself. The Russian phrase was a start, she reasoned, and she’d figure out by the end of the night why she felt so twitchy around him all of a sudden. It could have, should have been obvious, but to Dani such things were so far removed from her life, that the slightest hint of something more felt strange and alien to her as she really hadn’t focused on her personal life in years. Well, cheers to tonight. She darn well intended on figuring out why Piotr made her question her actions as of late and if she didn’t figure it out, she was gonna make sure he explained what the hell was going on between them. Even their hug was awkward and well...yeah...something needed to change. Tonight. ¹That’s a nice set of legs, what time do they open? |

"I'll take that bet. He grumbled to Peter before they made their toasts and started the drinking. He knew it was decently likely that someone might thing they could get handsey with Dani, who would then threaten to beat the tar out of them, and in the end it would take either himself or Pete to drag her away from him in a vicious frenzy of Moonstar brand fury. Which nobody really wanted. So Jim went out of his way to make eye contact with a few groups of people and stare them into hushed nervousness. It came in handy sometimes to be big-- people were so less likely to try and start anything. Of course, if they did, he didn't see anyone in the bar that he couldn't bounce through a wall or two. He snorted a little at Dani's comment and took another long drink from the bottle. "Yeah, you keep on telling yourself that." He raised both eyebrows at Dani as she got a drink from some gentlemen. So it began. He glanced to the group and narrowed his eyes, squaring back his shoulders and standing up straight. He wasn't against someone hitting on Dani by any means, but the air he was getting from Dani and Piotr was an uncomfortable one, which he figured must of been from the free drink. As the woman walked away from their little group, Jim reached out and gently tapped her. "Can we get a round of Guinness? From the tap--" He fished in his pocket before pulling his wallet out and handed the woman his card. "Put it on this." She nodded and smiled up at him before going off to fetch them drinks. Then it occurred to him that someone was talking to him. Snapping his attention back to the group and putting the bottle to his lips, he listened back in then smirked a little at Piotr. "Next round's on me. Hope y'all like heavy beer." "Heard you'd been takin' some of my duties since I've been out, Piotr. What's wrong, classroom full of kids wearin' on you?" He smirked and took a final drink of his beer before setting down the empty glass. One down, seven or eight to go. He was a little relieved that he hadn't been hit by a barrage of 'what have you been doing since you left?'-esque questions yet. It seemed that everyone was curious in what he'd been up to, and honestly there hadn't been much to tell. As the idle chit chat happened, Jim occasionally would look over to Dani. She was an attractive woman, although right now if he ever took any time to really assess himself, he would just find a mass of confused feelings that all made for bad relationship material right now. Although he could make a decent case as for why he wasn't good for other people in general. Now wasn't the time for broody thoughts however. He had bigger things to occupy his mind. Like, for instance, the weird air Piotr had about him around Dani. Now that was interesting. Pete wasn't exactly hiding his feelings well in his body language; he was throwing his tells all around. So either Dani had done something to make Piotr upset, or he was interested in her. Knowing him, it was probably the latter. He smiled at Dani as she spoke up and, as the waitress returned with the drinks, took one and raised it to his lips. "Yeah, I needed to get home. Road is only friendly for so long." He smirked a little and raised an eyebrow. "Well, with you leavin', I guess you won't have to worry about that." He nudged her a little, playfully before returning to his drink. Not like he actually had problems with Dani leaving for X-Factor. People came and went, they had their own lives to live. He had no room to get one someone for leaving, and if it was going to make her happy, then all the better. Some people felt differently, he knew, but that was a given. He listened as she shifted her attention to the Russian, occasionally bringing his glass to his lips for a drink. He frowned a little when she shifted language to Russian and stood up straight. "Hey now, don't you two be goin' off in Russian, I can't follow." He smirked a little then arched an eyebrow and snorted lightly. "I know like, 6 words in traditional Apache, so we're good." While not entirely true, he wasn't exactly speaking it conversationally. He was a little interested in what she'd said but he had a feeling that was aimed on trying to fix whatever was going on between the two of them. He let his gaze wander over the crowd before they rested on a brunette woman, who looked up and smiled at him. He offered a grin and sipped his drink again before looking back at his group to see if he'd missed anything. |

"I'll take that bet." Jimmy replied before Dani returned and the conversation resumed. While Jimmy was staring down would-be counters for Dani, Piotr was actually doing the same thing. Most likely for different reasons to Jimmy. They were both trying to save some guy from Danielle-flavored fury, Piotr was simply doing that as a secondary reason. “I always make the best assumptions." Dani replied, taking a look around just like Piotr and Jimmy did themselves. She finished her drink and Piotr smiled, taking a gulp of his own. She was going to be drinking way too fast and they'd have to carry her out of the bar. "Yeah, you keep on telling yourself that." Piotr was about to offer to buy the next round, but was interrupted when a waitress brought Dani a drink and indicated that some stranger off in a corner set it over to his friend. To her credit, Dani politely accepted the drink, even as Piotr considered a multitude of things, numbering among them despair at having lost to a stranger, which he immediately got over because that was ridiculous, and a nagging desire to go knock the stranger's head off. Which was also ridiculous, but for a different reason entirely. Dani wasn't anything more than his friend, and even if she was, that kind of violence was unthinkable. "Heard you'd been takin' some of my duties... kids wearin' on you?" "You have no idea, Tovarisch. Is one thing to help you show the students how to do something; completely different being the one having to teach on their own. I just don't like telling people, kids in this case, what to do and if given the choice, I'd never take such an authoritative position." Piotr gulped down the rest of his drink as the waiter came and placed another in front of him. I was just a working-class farm boy before all this, who am I to tell people what to do, Nyet?" “Oh Piotr,” Dani began, touching his arm. His heart began pumping faster, and he had to gulp down a mouthful of his beer to settle his nerves. “Haroshenikie nozhki, a kagda ani atkryvayootsya..." He was certain that Jimmy and Dani kept talking about languages and the like, but hearing those words come out of Danielle Moonstar's mouth had caused Piotr to choke on his beer, and he had himself a coughing fit in order to clear his lungs of the drink. He nearly fell over in the process, but composed himself as quickly as he could. Looking between the two Native Americans, Piotr was frozen in indecision. "Uh, I um... Well..." Piotr tried to get Jimmy to help him using pleading facial gestures, but the fact that the man didn't speak Russian, nor probably knew what to do in this situation, meant Piotr was on his own. "D-Dani, You just asked me, You asked..." He looked around, and decided to lean in and lower his voice before continuing, "You told me I have nice legs and then asked me when do they open, as if you were propositioning me." Jaime was going to get his butt kicked. Not by Piotr, but by Dani. There was no doubt that was the end result to her newfound embarrassing situation. |

The color drained from her face. She asked Piotr if she wanted to sleep with him. Looking for the nearest end table she slammed her drink down and wondered if it was too late to find Jamie and choke him. Yeah, that’s what she would do. CHOKE HIM. Looking back up at Piotr she didn’t know what to say, because she said more than she really cared for. Dani wasn’t the type to be at a loss for words, but in this instance she had forgotten most of the English language and just screamed curse words in her mind in her native language. Looking around, wondering if anyone heard, she debated walking out the bar, but that would seem like she wanted to sleep with him? She didn’t know. This was terrible and she couldn’t even beat the hell out of the guy who put her in this situation in the first place. “Well,” she told Piotr, “Proudstar is here and I am going to get another drink. Yup. Another drink.” She spun around and headed straight towards the bar ordering whatever she could easily get her hands on. Dammit, this was embarrassing. Looking from the corner of her eye she watched Piotr and inwardly felt like the most stupid idiot to have roamed the earth. Why didn’t she even think about checking it on Google translate or some other computer program. And there was Ramsey. She could have asked Ramsey. Feeling like an even bigger idiot, she sat on the stool looking at the bar tender. “One vodka shot. Pronto.” She yelled at the bartender who began to tell her the whole beer before liquor line, which Dani promptly ignored. She hadn’t even drank enough to get drunk. Alright, shot down, new beer in hand, she can return to Piotr and Proudstar with some dignity attached. Making her way back to them, she looked at her two friends and was about to smile at Piotr, but felt much too embarrassed, so she shifted her body away from Piotr and towards Proudstar. “So, if I get drunk, one of you will let me crash at your place, right?” |

This was fucking priceless. Jamie was going to die next time Dani saw him, and Jim hoped he had front row tickets. Between Piotr choking on beer and Dani's pale, horror filled expression, Jim was quite openly amused by the entire ordeal. Really, trusting Jamie so easily? She should of at least run it through google translate (or asked Doug) to see if he was being honest. It did make for some grade A entertainment however. She quickly scampered to the main bar and Jim grinned at Piotr, snickering a little. Lifting his drink to take another long swig of beer, he leaned against the table. "So the truth comes out!" He grinned again before nudging Piotr a little. "When she calms down enough to come back over, make sure to tell her it's all good. I don't want to sit through a night full of awkward tension, or whatever you two have going on, man." He smiled again as before Dani seemed to pull herself together enough to come back over. Jim turned back to face the inside of their little group, noticing that Dani had pulled herself to tilt towards him instead of Piotr. The air was thick enough Jim could of cut it. Great. He nodded a little to Dani's question and took a sip. "'Course Dani. I've got room." He was most likely going to be the most coherent one at the end of the night, especially now that Piotr was as wound up as he was. It took a lot of get Jim drunk, and at the rate they were going, that just wasn't going to happen and somebody needed to drive back. Worst case, they'd have to find a taxi willing to drive them out or stay in the city for a night, but Jim wasn't really too big on that. He had more than enough space to dump Dani off for sleep, and for some reason he just felt like maybe Piotr would want a little space. Or maybe not and they were going to shack up. Whatever. He finished off his second drink and put it down. This was going to be an entertaining night, without a doubt. |
