May 12th, Central Park, the Stark Expo 3 PM The expo was alive with the sound of music. It wafted over the grounds, pouring from strategically placed speakers and subsequently smothered by the chitter chatter of the large crowds, flitting about oblivious and unaware that the Brotherhood had infiltrated the Expo. Cassidy smiled to herself as she stepped off the bus. She insisted on being dropped off further away and riding public trasnportation into the Expo. It was all part of the act. She was Brotherhood undercover as an innocent bystander. Just a little girl, not lost. Nothing to see here. Humming to herself, she pulled the earbuds from her ears and tucked her phone in her satchel. It was a cheap pay-as-you-go phone she'd used when she was on her own, back when she was still Just Cassidy and Omen was barely born. She had volunteered, on the count of Cassidy Monroe not having a crminal record, Omen being nothing but tabloid myth and neither name associated with each other. Her cohorts today, two movers and shakers in a very literal sense, had been on SHIELD's and X-Men's radars and were sneaking in through other means. (Fancy that. Terrorists having a criminal record. What a novelty.) Cassidy not having a record was a tactical advantage for this kind of assignment. Her mission wasn't difficult. Meet Avalanche and Fracture, get the goods, stroll out as easy as she was now walking through the front gate, smiling at the guard checking the lady's purses as they went inside. No one was checking the purses of people leaving. Cassidy supposed she should be nervous, done the thing properly and brought a flock of butterflies in her stomach. She wasn't and she didn't. She went to a nearby booth and bought a water bottle and then walked casually, still humming to the rendezvous point. She was more nervous about the size of the crowd, not as it related to the mission, but her. Touch to many people at once, too quickly, see too many deaths in a row...it wasn't pretty. So so wore a breezy long skirt, black long-sleeve mesh top and dark sunglasses. Considering her normal attire barefoot in an oversize T-shirt and nothing more, she was positively practical. Of course, if she did have a seizure, whatever disaster to cause so many deaths would be easy enough distraction for her cohorts. They might event be able to make off with more than just the expanded research files on activation of the X-gene they had come to steal. Not the simple talks and public information. Secret experimental data, secret research not ready or willing to come to the public eye, secrets that could be used, maybe weaponized. Delightful. Delicious. Devious. The rendezvous point was a lecture hall, the presenter speaking on genetics. Cassidy walked in and took a seat near the back of the auditorium. Hopefully the boys had made it in with as little trouble as she had had. There was a certain circular poetry that her first real mission included one of the first Brotherhood member's she'd met and the one who made her really think the organization might not be what the X-men made made it out to be. So far they were the first people to want use and knowledge of her powers, all of her powers. |

Avalanche and Fracture would be forced to sneak in through other means. They had a high enough profile with security that walking through the front door wasn’t feasible for them. Cassidy wanted to go in on her own and he was fine with that in the end. Sneaking in two experienced members would be quite easier than sneaking in three people. Dominic took out the cash and the two men waited for a friend of a friend who sometimes let people sneak in for the right price. No questions asked. It really didn’t matter to Dominic what happened to this middle man. He was just a means to an end. He handed the $250 to him and Fracture and him were led in through the back and after a few minutes of waiting the crew guy who had been helping countless ticketless people into the expo told them they were clear to leave. This truly was a festival. Loud music blared. Laughter could be heard everywhere. Even as he looked around he only wanted to get to the lecture unnoticed. He had worn a gray suit, white button down shirt, with the top two buttons left undone. He was mostly going for the geek chic look to be able to pass as some business intellect with a passing interest in genetics. He saw he made the right choice when he noticed that while the people who simply came to gaze were dressed down, those who were here to make an investment dressed up slightly. It was such a small detail in the end, but even small details mattered and if it allowed him to get closer to the target, he would wear a suit. “Nice digs,” he told Lucian. He wanted them to seem comfortable, at ease as if though they belonged and for the most part the pair were looked over or glanced at twice by women, but nothing out of the ordinary. He kept an ear piece ready as the walked towards the lecture hall. Before then though, the two men scouted the area noting where the bulk of security lay, while pretending to be interested in various booths. Of course, I’d love to see this demonstration. My name? Oh, Lance. Lance Alvers. The story was always the same. They kept small talk to a minimum, but when anyone asked there was always a ready reply. Most of the time Dominic kept focused on the surroundings. One area towards the east of Central Park was heavily guarded, perhaps where Tony Stark’s entourage lay. He made a mental note to avoid that area at all costs. Once they did the preliminary check of the grounds the two men found their way towards the lecture hall, as friendly people commented at how amazing this festival was, Dominic nodding and smiling at all of the right moments and watching Lucian play his part well. Being a Brotherhood member wasn’t always about guns ablazing. It was knowing how to be discreet and when to blend in with the crowd and charm someone when the time called for it. Otherwise, had Dominic kept his loud mouthed vulgar persona, people would have noticed. Two men together, perhaps friends, perhaps business associates, didn’t call anyone’s attention as the festival was filled with groups and pairs of the business and technological minded. Finding the lecture hall the two men ambled about, mostly getting specs of the place and coming up with a plan of attack. Dominic knew Lucian would be meticulous at this point nothing the tiniest of things that would help them gather the intel they needed. Dominic discreetly took photos here and there, to test out their equipment and how easily he could swipe a photo unnoticed. They sat one row in front of Cassidy and squarely in front of her. Dominic held the lecture itinerary in his hand and pretended to speak to Lucian, though loud enough for Cassidy to hear. People were still trickling in and thankfully most of them were attempting to crowd as close to the stage as possible. “The speaker is going to be introduced by some other idiot and it’s suppose to take about 5 minutes. After that the speaker gets on stage, does his demonstration, and then leaves for a panel change. After the demonstration is when we hit. People will be gathering towards the exit to hopefully get an autograph at the signing station. We move through the crowd then and use the distraction to get close. Security is around the speaker. Should be easy enough.” He looked at Lucian to see if there needed to be any adjustments to their plan. Now would be the time to hack away at the plan, because once they were in motion there was little time to make complicated strategic changes. Plus, it would be good for Cassidy to hear how plans were formulated and how the more intelligent members of the Brotherhood would bow down to the wisdom of logic. They weren’t all animals who became wild and mad. Some of them were very much thoughtful and level headed and it mattered to him that Cassidy know that about the Brotherhood. Because while the public painted them as one thing, the truth was the X-Men had their own set of wild animals. “What do you think?” He asked Lucian, though leaving it open for Cassidy to input her opinion, should she have noticed some other contingency they hadn’t considered from her vantage point as she had the luxury of walking in like a regular patron. |

Lucian stood with Avalanche as they waited for the man to sneak them into the Expo. The plan was to sneak into the Expo, scout around and then if given the opportunity take some of the tech that was being presented. To Fracture none of this really mattered. What mattered to him was the fact that they had gotten out of the bubble that was Sanctuary. It was great to finally get out of the fish bowl, to stretch their legs and actually walk around a little bit. Though unfortunately due to Avalanches and his own reputation they were forced to be smuggled in while Cassidy walked into through the front gate. Once they were through, Lucian looked around and immediately entered into his persona. He was Charles Kincaid, CEO of Kincaid Industries a company that built and designed refinery drills for oil companies. It was all a great cover one that he had built up through his past and even had a small information based around it. During their walk to the demonstration he paused here and there to look at some exhibits and answer any questions. Dressed in a two piece black suit with a white collared shirt and a deep red tie, he walked along with a solid obsidian cane, a minor limp in his gait. Again it was all apart of his persona that he had created for events like this. Adjusting his glasses he looked over at Dominic, "Thank you I do enjoy getting out like this from time to time." Entering the demonstration hall, they idled in the lobby while Dominic mingled. Lucian on the other hand was using his tremorsense to pick up everyone in the building. '100,200,300... 352 people in this place so far,' he thought keeping track of all the vibrations. It would be generally confusing for others, but his age and knowledge of his powers helped him greatly in this situation. Motioning to Dominic who was discreetly taking pictures, they entered the hall and took their seats one row in front of Cassidy. Resting his hands on his cane he listened to Dom explain what would happen during the presentation. It was simple enough, listen to the stupid discussion wait for it to end and then grab the gear and get out of there. Nodding Lucian again adjusted his glasses before looking at Dom with one eye. "That sounds like a tremendously boring time, but I can see the need for it. So after the discussion while security is busy with looking after the speaker, we will step up and wait for a distraction," he said calmly yet loud enough for Cassidy to hear "that moment I or you can make an attempt to get up and can grab the gear. Hopefully the exits won't be that covered, but you never know. Other than that I am good with the plan." |

Carbon Form/Manipulation

The Stark Expo was a huge event. A huge event packed full of things that nasty people might like to get a hold of. So, as one might imagine the security was top notch. The security was so intense in fact that there was no easy way in. Ironically enough this was a problem for security personnel, apparently. Charcoal had never thought of it like this before, but once it was explained he understood. The thing about human nature is, when there's a will, there's a way. So if determined, skilled criminals with resources and connections wanted to get into the expo, they'd find a way in. With that in mind, it was suggested, to open a small hole in the security. One that they knew about, controlled, monitored. The plan was conceived by far brighter men than Agent Rook, but when it came to the sort of covert actions needed for the mission he was fast becoming one of the top of the ladder at SHIELD. He could vanish at a moment's notice, sneak almost anywhere, perform aerial surveillance unnoticed, assume other faces as necessary, and if it came down to it he wasn't too bad in a pinch. So the hole was opened. They knew a guy, small time criminal. Intelligence agencies did well to keep little fish in their big pockets. They had their man put out the word that he'd gotten work at the side gate of the expo and that for a fee he'd be providing off the books access. They put a contact lens camera in their small fish's eye, rigged it up to facial recognition software, and waited. Most of the criminals coming through were other small timers, thieves mostly, looking to make a good score pickpocketing the wealthy folks. They ignored these people, they couldn't do anything about them without exposing their little trap, and the stakes were higher than some posh lady's purse. Chris smoked out the back of a nearby stall, having formed himself up a uniform from the poster stand he was behind. He tried to look like a man on an all too short break as he subtly watched the secret entrance from a distance and checked his phone for any known ID matches. Not a moment too soon, the hours of boredom paid off. A match on one, and partial matches on the other one. One was a Brotherhood mutant with geokinetic powers. The other, a man seen at plenty of Brotherhood get-togethers, powers unknown. Chris didn't look as they passed by. Instead he stomped his cigarette out on the ground and headed back in like his break was over. As soon as the door closed behind him he split his mind and body whooshing the carbon up through the ventilation system and up into the air. He formed a single dark cloud shape in the sky while he searched to find his targets again. Then he saw them, in the crowds, chatting like they'd been there all along. It was a bit of a shock, and one which earned them a measure of respect. Chris swept down to ground level around a corner and assumed a different appearance to the one he'd been wearing behind the poster stall. He strolled out and joined the crowd, matching his enemies' blending abilities. Every so often he also stole away around a corner to switch faces again. If he was spotted, they'd lost these guys for good. They met up with someone else in a large, central hall and Chris slipped out his phone, holding it up to his ear. First thing was first, alert SHIELD about it all. "Hey! Yeah it's me, I'm at the expo, can you believe it?" He asked excitedly to no one on the other end of the phone. Then subtly, he leaned into his arm, triggering the transmit button in his breast pocket. "So that show we really wanted to catch, I think it's coming up next. They're just setting it up now. You might wanna hustle if you don't want to miss the best exhibit here." He added, still pretending to talk innocently on the phone, but this time passing a message to SHIELD. Next step was to call in his 'specialist'. He pulled the phone away from his ear and hit the dial button, having already selected Sarah Vale's contact. "There, that better? Can you hear me now?" He asked of the ringing noise he was conversing with. Once she picked up, he launched into a monologue, ignoring what she said in return and hoping that she managed to sift through it to get the information he needed to send her. "No, no, it's Chris you goof... Yeah! I was just saying how that demo I wanted you to come watch with me is starting soon. You should come over now if you're interested... Yeah, that's the one... No, it's in Demo Hall 2... Ok, see you soon then." He pocketed his phone and used a reflection to quickly check the terrorists were still there. He stepped off and began to mingle again, hoping that his 'coded' messages made it through and he didn't have to try to stop a Brotherhood espionage operation all alone. |

It was a little late in the day for lunch, being almost three in the afternoon, but Sarah had gotten to the expo late today, so she’d gone for a late breakfast. By the time she was hungry, it was later, and she found herself sitting in a quieter area of the park with a sandwich, stretching out on the grass with headphones in. She’d almost fallen asleep with her phone started ringing, and while the music she was listening to drowned out the sound of the ring, the phone had whispered into her mind as the call came in. Fumbling for it, she plugged the headphones into the phone, answering with a distracted voice. “Hello?” It was Coal, or so the phone was muttering to her, and she kept her eyes closed, at least until he started rambling. “What?” She said, confused, finally sitting up and raking her loose hair out of her face, letting out a sigh as he talked about demos and watching and…The technopath rolled her eyes, brushing grass off her pants. “Dude, next time just send a text.” She said with a quiet laugh as he hung up, point made. Yeah, she got it. As convoluted as that one-sided conversation had been, she got the gist of it. He wanted her to meet him somewhere, and judging by his attempt to seem as normal as possible, she’d bet it had to do with his presence here as a SHIELD agent. Fortunately for him, she could easily backtrack his call to find him in the park. Standing up and brushing loose blades of grass off her jeans, Sarah stretched, tugging her purple blouse straight and sliding her feet back into her boots. Sliding her lightweight brown backpack onto her shoulders, she strolled back into the thick of expo. The technology sang happily as she came back into things, and she smiled brightly, brushing her mind against them as she walked. It was easy enough to find Coal, once she got close enough to register his cell phone. Following it through the crowd was little more difficult, but eventually she saw him wandering around. Excusing herself through the crowd, she approached with a smile, waving to him and closing in to hug him brightly. “Hey! Glad I could find you, this crowd is insane. So what’s going on? We going in?” Sarah grinned at him, wondering what the heck was going on that he’d’ve contacted her. Of course he’d know she was there. But if he was getting in touch with her, especially using a phone call was obviously meant to be overheard, she could only assume he needed her for her powers. The thought almost made her giggle. Hooking a thumb on her belt loop, she kept pace with Coal, glancing around at the exhibits near them, showing interest in a few as they wandered. She could only hope he’d be able to actually come out and explain what the hell she was supposed to be doing for him. |

“You know, I don’t really give a shit about the technology, the excitement, and all of the big name big brains showing the world how smart they are. No that’s not for me. The reason that I’m here is real simple.” Zita licked the powered sugar from her fingertip. “Funnel cakes.” Of all the joys and wonders that the Stark Expo had to offer, her only concern was the food. Well that wasn’t her only concern, but outside of work it was the main reason that she was happy to be present. The world of tomorrow was never something that interested the ex-mercenary. Perhaps if the Expo was all about weaponry then she would be far more excited to be in attendance. Weapons were something of a passion from the complex to the mundane. If it could kill it interested her. But the deep fried sweet batter would have to suffice. “I hear ya,” said the man sitting next to her on an old wooden bench. “There’s something special about fair food that restaurants just can’t duplicate.” “Ain’t that the truth.” As she took another bite of her food, a short vibration from her pocket drew her attention. Zita pulled out the phone, unlocked it, and looked at the images on display. So the Brotherhood targets had been identified through the use of their plant. Good. She didn’t recognize either one of the men, but then again she didn’t pay much attention to any reports that SHIELD had unless it pertained to a specific mission. Now that she and the other agents knew exactly who they were looking for all that was left to do was wait for the confirmation from Rook. Despite the flirtations the guy next to her was spewing, her mind was occupied with thoughts of what could have been. Once upon a time she was almost a member of the Brotherhood. What would her life be like now had she joined their ranks and never been captured by Maverick? It was a little scary, but also thrilling to think about. But dwelling on the “what ifs” would have to be done later. Coal’s voice came in through the small device camouflaged to look like a part of ear. The targets were stationary for now in one of the lecture halls. Time to go to work. “Welp,” she said to her companion, “it looks like my buddies have finally made it. I’m gonna go meet up with them.” She tossed what little remained of the treat into the trash bin as she stood. “Wait. Before you go, can I get your number? Maybe we can get together later.” The guy stood up with a sly grin. “Aww, eso es tan lindo. But I’m too old and unavailable for you, sweetie.” Zita kissed the young 19 year old on the forehead before making her way toward Demo Hall 2. It didn’t take long for her to arrive at the destination given her proximity to it. Making her way through the crowd she saw Coal up ahead with a young woman tagging along next to him. Instead of stopping to converse, she simply nodded in passing to let him know that everything was good on her end and that she was ready to act when needed. Zita entered the seating area and took up an empty spot in the back row. From there she would have eyes on everything going on in front. |

Cassidy listened to the boys go over the plan, herself under the guise of distracted texting. She glanced around, her gaze casual and mostly unfocused. Big crowds could mean big trouble, if there was a major natural disastor, a terrorist bombing or the end of the world around the corner, which happened more than someone might imagine. Today she was with the terrorists, had lived past the end of the world and had survived major natural disasters. Also it was nice to go into a mission knowing you weren't going to die...though she couldn't say the same for a balding man three rows down. Cassidy tilted her head. Death by...mauling? Well that was odd for a man who looked, by all appearances to be a mild-mannered soft-hand pudgey bankers. But then again, Avalance and Fracture looked downright distinguished, not how one would expect a terrorist. Maybe. Her view of terrorists was a little..muddled. For now she put the doomed businessman out of her mind. Wouldn't be today or by herself or the gentlemen in front of her (probably) so not their concern. Her pale eyes flickered to a student, standing with some others she didn't recognize. Cassidy couldn't remember her name or powers. Probably nothing. Maybe nothing. Not surprising, probably more than one Xavier student, maybe even a whole field trip. As long as they didn't wave their plan in her face, they'd probably be fine. But a mutant was a mutant and one thing all of them and the humans could agree on was mutants had power. Her phon buzzed with a message, but Cassidy shoved it in her purse. She already knew the contents. Just a little insurance policy she'd set up before, in case she needed a particularly dramatic distraction. She glanced forward, to her two cohorts and gave them a wide, open smile. "Avalance? Oh shit, probably Dominic, right?" Cassidy said, leaning forward, wide-eyed acting like for all the world like she was just some civilian run into an old acquaintance. Her daddy would be proud. Well, if she wasn't doing an acting job for violent pro-mutant terrorist group. Details, details. "I mean, I saw some of my old classmates come in, but didn't expect to run into you. We should catch up after the presentation." The lights in the auditoriam dimmed. Showtime. |

Fracture sat in his seat resting his hands on his cane looking around the auditorium as it filled up with more people. As they took their seats he would mark them with his tremor sense, feeling their vibrations and keeping them logged for later use. He glanced back at Cassidy as she spoke to Dominic like she knew him. Lucian had to admit she was playing the role of someone running into them. When she mentioned that some of her old classmates had came in, he immediately took note of that. If some of the X-students were here, there could be some X-men lurking around. Thinking back to the time the Brotherhood helped the school during the Purifiers he smiled a little bit. Shortly after Cassidy mentioned that tidbit of information, the lights dimmed and the presentation began. Lucian was a little surprised to see Dominic get up and leave without a word to his partner. Shaking his head, he figured the man must have to use the washroom. His attention was slightly diverted from the presentation, but he focused in as the machine that was presented started to illuminate the stage and where the light touched it seemed to turn invisible as the table it was resting on seemed to vanish away. 'That is certainly impressive, and I can already think of a few uses for that little device," he thought as he watched with renewed interest. As the light from the machine died down, the stage lights came back up and the presenter finished up his speech. It wasn't long before an announcer let them know that the people could mingle with the presenter and that was what they were waiting for. Dominic hadn't returned yet, and they couldn't wait for him to come back. Their window was very short and it would be closing on them. Getting up he nodded to Cassidy as he slipped on his jacket. "You want to take or distract since it's just us now?" he whispered to her as he adjusted his cuffs. Using his cane, Lucian hobbled down the stairs mingling with investors and other business men. It was a great cover and it allowed him to make his way closer and closer to the front of the stage. He didn't know which method Cassidy was going to go for so he worked his way closer to be able to do the opposite of what she said into the communicator. He stood in line waiting to meet the presenter, yet still close enough to divert to the machine. If necessary he would mix the obsidian from his cane into his combat armor ready to fight and leave. |

Coal kept tabs on the terrorists as he swanned around nonchalantly through the room, maintaining a disguise for now. There was no reason in particular he should need to do that, but it didn't hurt either so he held onto a different face as a precaution. He glanced up at the stage to see the next presentation nearly ready to begin. The Brotherhood were there, right then, he doubted it was a coincidence. Chances are there was something in this unveiling that they wanted to get their hands on. Things were going to ramp up significantly, and soon. He just hoped backup arrived in time. The first to arrive was Sarah, aka Network. Gifted techie. Word on the street was there were only about four mutants on the planet who were better with electronics than Sarah, if you can believe the word on the street that is. Coal passed behind a pillar, blocking the terrorists' view of him while his image quickly reconfigured to standard. It was nice, a weight off of his mind, less to concentrate on. He stepped back into view as his old self, and waited to catch Network's eye. She noticed him and he strolled casually further away from their enemies, wanting to make Sarah meet him further away from vigilant eyes. She came in looking cheery and excitable, a contrast to Chris' own completely passive, almost bored expression he was trying to maintain. He gave a little smile right before the hug and embraced back. "It's good to see you Netty. Yeah the crowd is pretty big." He looked around a little concerned. "I hope they're aiming to use the crowd as cover, not collateral damage." He added grimly. He scanned the room by force of habit and nodded slightly in the direction of the terrorists. "See that group? Seats, second row from the back? That's them. Don't stare, be casual. Intel says they're here to try to swipe some tech, and I think it's about to go down. Whatever this presentation is, I wouldn't be surprised if it's their target. I have SHIELD back up on the way too, but I called you because you're the best person with tech that I know." Next the aforementioned back up arrived, with Zita giving Coal a slight acknowledgment as she filtered through the crowd subtly. Chris turned back to Net, trying to keep a fake casual smile on his face. "Ok, back up's here. So all I need you to do is keep your mind on the gear. Make sure no one's hacking anything and that none of the key tech goes on walk about. My co-worker and I should be able to take care of the rest. Tap into our comms so we can stay in touch." He explained to the technopath with a reassuring smirk as he indicated to the little bud in his ear. The showcase of the impressive invisibility device came to a close and the lights wound up in brightness again. Coal glanced at the Brotherhood mutants in time to see them stand up as calm as anything and start moving into the crowd. From there it was going to get harder to track them, but with two trained operatives and Sarah as back up they should be able to manage. Coal gave Network a final nod and moved out of cover into the crowd himself. "Ok, I have the old guy moving forward in the line. I'll queue up behind. Anyone have eyes on the girl?" He said in a whisper without moving his mouth. He slipped into the line a few behind his target and pulled out his phone, pretending to be interested in it while he tried to stay relaxed. He was tense though, because he knew something was going to go down soon. |

Sarah could only assume that eventually, Coal would tell her what the heck she was doing here. For the time being, she’d play along, because judging by the phone call he was trying to seem unassuming. He brought up the idea of the Brotherhood possibly using the crowd as collateral damage, and Sarah’s eyebrows raised sharply, having not considered that. But then, considering how large the Expo was, how many people were there, she would think using the crowd as cover would be a better plan for them. She didn’t say anything about that particular observation, nor did she actually turn her head to look when he pointed out the Brotherhood members in the crowd. Instead, she accessed the cameras in the area, swiveling them until she could zoom in on the threats. They both looked somewhat familiar, and Sarah frowned thoughtfully. The girl, yeah, she knew her. She used to be at the mansion. The man…He’d been one of the Brotherhood members who had aided them against the Purifiers. She wasn’t sure she’d over known his name, and the girl’s escaped at right now. But she definitely had a vague recollection of their faces. Sarah almost blushed a bit at the compliment, and might have, if she hadn’t known Coal had been saying it as a fact and not a compliment. Glancing at Zita, she nodded at Coal’s instructions, taking a seat and thoroughly enjoying the presentation. An invisibility device, quite fascinating. Accessing SHIELD’s comms was easy enough, listening with a fraction of her attention, still linked with the cameras in the presentation area. The technology being presented was easy enough to maintain a link to without much concentration, keeping her focus split without much trouble. Coal got up with a nod, and Sarah stretched her legs out before standing, rolling her shoulders a little. Not being a SHIELD agent, she didn’t move to get near either of the Brotherhood members, instead wandering towards the entrance, mixing with the crowd that was leaving. Pulling out her phone, she tapped at the screen absently, seemingly unconcerned with what was going on around her. Actually, she was watching through the cameras, listening to bits and pieces of conversations around her. She considered trying to get closer to Cassidy but if she could recognize the girl, than it was possible Cassidy would recognize her. So instead she stayed where she was, letting the actual SHIELD agents get closer to the Brotherhood members in the crowd, her focus mainly on the technology surrounding her. Her voice filtered through the comms to Zita and Coal, not bothering to physically speak, just sending the message through the comms. “The girl used to go to Xavier’s. Can’t remember her name, but her face is familiar.” |

Zita’s eyes drifted to the high ceiling when the lights dimmed down, signaling the start of the presentation. She had never been one for technology, especially the kind that she would never have any use for, but some of the stuff she had seen since arriving was admittedly impressive. She had no idea what this presentation was going to be about and was curious to find out. Even though the lights were dimmed and her attention was on the device that had been wheeled onto stage she still had eyes on the Brotherhood members sitting not far in front of her. Zita had no idea how it worked, but the device could make objects vanish from sight by shining some sort of light on them. Judging by the way that it appeared to be hovering motionless in the air, the table was still present. It was a clever machine that she could see no possible use for her regular life, but still cool. Once the presentation was over there was a round of applause. After that, people began to mingle amongst themselves and make way toward the inventor for conversation. Zita visually located the two Brotherhood agents before moving to another position within the crowd. The suits would be a terrible place for her since she would stand out like a sore thumb, so she mingled among the casual crowd ooing and aahing at the technology and presenters. She started to think about all the tech-heads back at base that would have killed to be on this assignment which made her grin. Those guys were all about the technology, but not many (if any at all) had any undercover training. Zita had been going undercover since first becoming a mercenary way back when. It was what she did best besides breaking bodies and art… though breaking bodies could be considered an art form. “Tengo a la chica. I wondered what made her flip.” Since meeting Elle, Zita had been to Xavier’s a couple of times. The place seemed really nice. It was a wonder how anyone that was a student there could wind up fighting for a group of terrorists. Right now the how and the why didn’t really matter. The blonde was rolling with the wrong side and needed to be stopped before she and her cohorts could do whatever the hell they were planning. Zita positioned herself among a group of guys talking about something unimportant. She held the blonde in her peripheral. |

Despite the importance of the mission, Cassidy had been a good little tourist and been taking notes on the presentation during it's entirety. Her papa would have been sorely disappointed in her if she did not commit fully to her role (in principle, not that the role was feeding into terrorism). She was just a harmless civilian who had encountered an old friend who happened to be a terrorist. But not her, of course. Dominic had vanished, hopefully to take care of security, but as the lights came back up it seemed they were one geokenetic down. "I'm a tourist with a big bag that's wide open for things to be slipped into before I waltz out the front gates," Cassidy whispered to Lucian with a wink, before hopping out of her seat. She moved past him, standing on her tiptoes and craning around, looking for her old friend. With a shrug, she continued her way towards the presenter. There was a large crowd of people, all pushing and shoving politely to get to the presenter, more than one with slightly open laptop carriers or briefcases. A little slight of hand and a little stumble was easy enough to coordinate. Someone stepped on her long skirt and sent her tumbling right into a security guard. "Hey! Watch it. It's a lecture not The Who." Cassidy snapped at offender before blushing up at the security guard. "I'm so sorry." "You alright, Miss?" "Fine, fine, just embarrassed and shit--hey! Where the fuck is my wallet?" "What?" The trippee asked, stunned. "It was here when I got up from my seat," Cassidy yelled, "Really? All these fancy suits and you're going to pick pocket me?" Now she had some attention. The security guard was focused on the man Cassidy had accused and crowds loved a scandal. With one guard focused on her and a few more gazes from security and attendees flickering her way, hopefully that gave Lucian an opportunity to slip away, grab what they need and go. |

Fracture nodded when Cassidy had told him that she would cause the distraction and allow him to get the device. So as he hobbled through the crowd towards the presenter, Lucian slipped a hand into a jacket and wrapped it around a device that was given to him before he had left Sanctuary. It was some sort of EMP device that shut down all electrical signatures for a brief period of time. They had said it would shut down all electronics in a localized area, mainly this presentation hall. While Lucian wasn't super tech savvy, he did understand enough to know how this would work. So as he drew within distance of the device he fingered the device in his pocket. No bigger than a poker chip, but alot thicker he looked around to make sure no one was noticing him before pressing the large center button. They had warned him that it might take a few seconds to charge up, and after a count of five a wave of energy passed through him. All around him computers flickered and died, same with lights, cameras and anything technological. With the few seconds that it granted him, Lucian had reached up and grabbed the device in the darkness. Having already memorized the location of the table, it was easy to find what he needed and easier to grab the tech. Now came the hard part of leaving the hall without being seen. While it was still dark he slipped it under his jacket, before moving towards Cassidy (whose vibrational pattern he had memorized) and grabbing her by the arm pulled her out the exit door near the front. "Time to go little angel," he said as he slipped the device into her bag and again held onto his cane. Though this time it was a little more steady, more urgent then just being an old man at a convention. The frail old man had transformed into a confident, bold old man who had the mind as sharp as a dagger. With the convention hall still in darkness, the two Brotherhood members quickly headed through the crowd. Very subtly, Lucian used his earth moving powers to move some stalls around manipulating the concrete beneath them. It would help provide them with some cover, but overall their best chance of escaping was leaving this fairground without to much of a hassle, but he knew that was going to be a very tough task to accomplish. |
