Plot Date: July 2014 Plot Location: Aboard a yacht , 28 miles east of East Hampton Main Beach, NY Not all jobs are glamorous. Not every job is action-packed. When you have a specific set of skills and are willing to hire them out to the highest bidder, sometimes you just take what you can get. And unfortunately what billionaire Robert Wesley Beaumont really needed was a bodyguard. Correction: He needed a heavily armed, highly skilled, extremely capable…babysitter. This wasn’t an ordinary gig. Robert’s only son Theodore was five years old and already displayed signs that he wasn’t going to fall remotely into any sort of definition of ‘normalcy’. He knew things…things he simply shouldn’t know, and rumor had it that Mr. Beaumont had been exploiting that knowledge as leverage…the result of which was excessive financial gain over the past two years. It was the sort of rumor that eventually found its way out and as a result Mr. Beaumont had made his share of enemies, some of which were highly connected and politically charged. Only the bulls eye wasn’t on his back. Oh no, they wanted his son. Some wanted him for their own gain, others simply wanted him dead. Robert hired a group of highly skilled and reputable mercenaries, all charged with the task of protecting his son while he conducts business on shore in New York. They are all paid extremely well, and are on a luxury yacht which has been outfitted to be able to protect itself should that need arise. The yacht is almost thirty miles offshore. Among the team that Beaumont has assembled are two ex-Navy seals, a former secret service agent and Neenah Thurman, otherwise known as Domino. The idea with this plot is that there is always a rich person, or a conglomerate of rich persons who are willing to pay another team. This team could be sent in to extract the child and bring him back unharmed, or perhaps they are being paid for something far more sinister… Domino might not agree with the logic behind being on a boat so far from shore. It’s disadvantages outweigh the advantages in her opinion, but she is not calling the shots…she’s just there to keep the kid safe and then eventually to get paid. What I really want is a few characters for each side…maybe one to work alongside Domino, and a few to work against her. As far as factions go I think Others works well, though with a little imagination we might be able to make something else work. |
