January 4, 2015 9:00 am Piotr's apartment _____________________ The Rasputin home, in the staff wing of Xavier's, was an eerily silent, subdued, one ever since the power swap had happened. Nuya, for all that he was a two year old boy, was generally quite by nature when alone regardless. He saved up his rambunctious behavior until he was with the other two members of his three amigos, Nate and Greg, for maximum effect. But even Nuya was having a hard time maintaining the level of quiet Papa seemed to need recently. Piotr popped another small handful of pills from the bottle and sloshed down a glass of water, hoping that the effects would kick in soon. He wished that the pills could kill his pain for longer. No. No that wasn't true, he admitted angrily. He didn't wish that. He wished the kid who had messed everything up would get over his bullshit and fucking change everyone back already! "God damn it all to hell, how long do these pills take to kick in?!" He said through gritted teeth. "Papa?" Nuya said, looking up from his coloring book, the box of crayons splayed on the floor in arm's reach, in a pattern only Piotr's son knew. He wasn't worried that he was in trouble, because his dad was always telling him what a good boy he was, and good boys didn't get into trouble when they were coloring. But he was worried for his dad, because he could see that his dad was not happy. "Hey, buddy." Pete said, trying to smile through the pain as a flash have him the heads up that he was answering the door for friends after dropping Nuya off at the daycare, even though he was still sitting at the table. "You ready to go see everyone?" "We go, Papa!" Nuya said, hopping up and grabbing his backpack. Ten minutes later. The door knocked, and Piotr winced in pain. He pulled the wet dishrag off his face and went to open the door. "Hey, I saw you coming. Glad to catch up." He said, trying to make his voice not sound like he was considering the option of drowning himself in pain killers and booze. |

Sarah had to admit – in terms of powers, she and Jess had gotten relatively lucky in this random power switch that happened. It was weird, being without her powers. The quiet in her mind, the constant need to monitor her strength. But…No headaches, no migraines or nosebleeds, or worrying about stubbing her toe on sharp corners in the middle of the night. Compared to Jimmy and Piotr, who both seemed uncomfortably dealing with the headaches caused by having mental powers, she had it easy. Right now she was standing outside Jimmy’s room, carrying a bag of ice packs and migraine medication, knocking on the door before carefully opening it and stepping inside. “Come on, I brought ice packs for your head. And some for Piotr.” Grinning at Jimmy when he followed her out, she tugged at the hem of her black t-shirt, which was riding up a little thanks to the fact that she’d recently put on a few inches in height. Another side effect of Jimmy’s powers, she’d learned. The last time she’d measured, she’d hit around five feet, ten and a half inches. Shoes were just a bother, at this point, and she was currently lounging in an old pair of dark green capri pants, pockets marching up the sides. She probably didn’t need to knock – going on what she knew about her sister – but she did anyway, and when Piotr opened the door, she gave him a sympathetic smile, holding up the bag of ice packs and stepping inside. “Hey. Brought you some things that might help. If there’s one thing I know, it’s migraine management.” The brunette kept her voice soft, placing the bag on the table and tugging out a few ice packs, motioning for the two pained men to sit on the couch. “C’mon, sit down. I can show you some pressure points that can help relieve that pressure, Pete. At least a little bit.” Handing them both an ice pack, she winced in sympathetic pain, perching on the arm of the couch next to Jimmy. |

Precognition

Being super strong had it's perks: the ability to carry bags full of heavy items without struggle was definitely at the top of that list. Ice cream, ice cream toppings, books, and board games, Jessica's bags were just filled with stuff. But stuff was all it was. She didn't know if it would help Piotr a all. Jessica wanted to be helpful, she really did, but she lacked what may be considered a nurturing spirit. She didn't have the instincts or even rudimentary know-how of how to care for a friend that was ailed and so she was winging it, hoping to make some small impact with one of the many things she had in her arms. She may not have had anything of true consequence or value to help Piotr and Jimmy, but she had ice cream and that had to count for something. Jess shuffled through the hallways and rounded the corner just as Sarah knocked at Piotr's door. The former technopath looked like an Amazonian by her new height. It was such a strange sight for Jess, so weird knowing she too looked many inches taller, she couldn't help but smile a bit. "Hold the door!" She pled as she powered down and approached the door. The metal of her skin turned flesh in an instant and the bags in her hands quadrupled in weight. The girl stumbled as she took a few more hurried steps forward. The pair of them had both changed with the unexpected mutation swap, their height and musculature were the most noticeable of those changes. Their respective mental powers were replaced with those of two of the most physically capable mutants residing at Xavier's. It was definitely an adjustment. For one, Jessica felt absolutely blinded without her powers... her usual grace and preparedness had given way to constant startelement, breaking inanimate objects, and even disorganization. this was the first time that Jessica had learned how much she relied on her abilities. That said, as much as she hated to admit it in front of the others who had their powers swapped, she was enjoying it to a degree. Most others seemed to grow frustrated with their missing abilities but she felt truly powerful for the first time, unstoppable. A small part of the young woman didn't want to forfeit the new feeling. Except, of course, this wasn't like swapping pudding for jello in grade school. A mutant's powers, over time, would become a part of them. She'd had her mutation for a third of her life and the mutant she swapped with, her friend Piotr, had his for even longer. A mutant's biology was typically hardwired upon mutation to compensate for their step forward in evolution but her powers were shredding away at Piotr's mind. She felt guilt at every moment of triumph that 'her' new powers allowed her while knowing that Piotr wasn't having nearly as thrilling of a time. Even for her, the growth of her powers had been difficult and, unlike with Piotr, they didn't bloom in full for her. His struggle was real, and as it was her power, it was her responsibility to care for him in his time of need. Or even to just brighten his day. Fortunately Jimmy and Sarah were going through the exact same thing, so she wasn't without help... She walked in, placing the bags on the nearest open surface. She glanced about Piotr's apartment. "Where's Nuya?" She asked, visibly disappointed by the lack of baby. Without waiting for an answer, she proceeded to reach into her bag. "I brought ice cream..." Jessica said with a hint of uncertainty. She didn't even know if ice cream would be soothing for them, much less if Jimmy and Priotr would eat ice cream. It wasn't like hey had their tonsils removed. "I started to bring these really good apple ales I tried a few weeks ago but I didn't want you guys to think I was a boozer. Plus it'd probably be really bad for you to drink in your conditions... SO I dunno. Who wants sprinkles?" |
