Despite her fears of disappearing upon the onset of her birthday, Rachel was still here alive and well and the knowledge that nobody truly understood how the time travel thing worked was reaffirmed. There wasn't really any time for existential crisis' at the moment though, the school was going through something of a minor crisis. It wasn't some world shattering event that would see the X-Men and the rest of the heroes across the globe rush to the aid of both the human and mutant populations.

No this was a crisis that was caused by a single young entity that SHIELD had brought to the school, it wasn't the kids fault, nobody had control over what sort of mutant powers they had and how they manifested, it was no easier to predict than the winning numbers for the lottery. Sure there were some cases like Rachel's and other mutant families where powers were slightly easier to predict, but that was an entirely different ball game. It had now been some time since the power swapper had arrived at the school and despite the initial chaos of people trying to learn to control an entirely new set of powers, things were now beginning to calm down as people got used to their newly acquired gifts.

That didn't mean that accidents had been completely out of the question, new powers meant new ways of controlling them, new triggers that could set them off and when one of the younger students had a minor melt down resulting in what could only be described as a minor telekinetic meltdown in one of the rec rooms; Rachel had been one of the nearest adults to the scene and for over an hour she helped the kid pick up things, put them back where they needed to go and ultimately cleared up the mess that came with power accidents.

Right now Rachel wasn't entirely sure how they were going to deal with this problem - there was no way they could keep the kid nulled for good, but they needed to find a way for everyone to get their powers back and allow the student to learn the control that they needed so that everyone wasn't continuously at risk of power outages and swappages.

That was a problem that could be dealt with one step at a time, so for the time being things were once again calm again in the school. With everything calm again, Rachel took the opportunity to duck out of the main building and began to make her way towards the apartments that lay behind the rose gardens.

::What do you feel like doing this evening?:: Reaching out Rachel spoke out towards Frankin, despite having been here for so long now it was still sort of weird knowing that at the present they could do what they want when they wanted. There were no hunt and kill squads waiting around the corner, and no threats that required their constant and undying attention. ::Want to get out of here for a while?:: They were both in their twenties now, so if they wanted to go out and make the most of a time that was not constant war and suffering, well they needed to.

It was an incredibly good thing that Franklin Richards had not been caught in the midst of the power fluctuations. His abilities were terrifying when held by someone like him, someone who tried to be good, wanted to do what was right. Imagine the power to warp and twist reality in the hands of someone who didn't, or someone who might be corrupted by the temptation of having everything you wished for.

It was hard enough right now just dealing with people with much smaller and much less potent abilities. For instance, Franklin was, at the moment, using his powers to reconstruct a wall that a fourth grader with the sudden power of running through such things had sent crashing to the ground. It was absolutely mind numbing and by the book busywork, and Franklin, who had spent most of his life before this place with either too little to do or too much to think about enjoyed the simplicity of it.

::What do you feel like doing this evening?::

A voice in his head that brought a smile to his face. He dropped his hand as the last bricks were set into place and the wall solidified with a turquoise light. ::If I said 'you,' would that be tacky?:: he thought with a light chuckle in his thoughts, ::Oh, wait, I forgot your dad has telepathy at the moment, I should probably watch my dirty mind, shouldn't I?::

::Want to get out of here for a while?:: Rachel asked, and Franklin smiled, even brighter.

::You mean a date? Like a date date?:: Franklin asked, ::We haven't had one of those in... well... ever. You sure you're ready to have fun without worrying about the world ending?::

They had met at a rebel encampment, they had become friends fighting sentinels, they had become lovers in the ash of their world, they had separated through time, and reunited in a primeval jungle. But they had never found time., even since their arrival here, to go out and be a normal couple of twenty somethings.

He sort of liked the idea.

::Definitely tacky::

Though still it made Rachel laugh, for those that weren't privy to the mental communications of telepaths, then it would have quite possibly looked like Rachel was a sandwich short of picnic basket, but then this was Xavier's; odd was pretty much the normal here, everyone was odd in their own little way. ::If I were you I probably would, I wouldn't want to see him go down the over protective dad path on you.:: Despite Rachel getting used to it, there were times like she felt for a moment here, where the whole living in a world where sentinels and kill squads weren't right around the corner was a little surreal, but still it was most definitely a good thing.

Of course her suggestion was going to warrant a response like the one that she got, Rachel wasn't really the most outgoing of individuals, she practical rather than social. Which wasn't so much a bad thing, it just wasn't so much a side of life that she was used to.

::We must have done something...:: The more that Rachel thought about it though the more she realised they hadn't, between the Skrull, the Illuminati, and settling into the routine of things in this world they hadn't really made any much time for them or at least Rachel hadn't.

::Talking like that is going to jinx it though:: She was of course trying to make light of the situation, ::We could go into town or something,:: Rachel wasn't really sure where to go though it wasn't like she was an expert at this, Franklin though had blended into this much better than she had over all. ::Have any ideas where we could go?::

Now turning back from her walk through to the apartments Rachel, approached the door and let herself back into the building, allowing herself to be guided towards Franklin by the sense of direction that her powers gave her.

The wall repaired and his uber powerful and uber hot girlfriend heading this way, Franklin passed a hand over himself and did what it was he did to remove the brick and mortar dusk from his clothes to make himself presentable. He didn't think about the fact that his powers were, themselves, too powerful to treat so lightly, because the angst over their strength and his occasional mind controlled misuse of them was not a sticking point for Franklin. He wasn't a gloom and doomer, he wasn't a dweller, he wasn't the sort to regret every decision he had ever made or would make in the future. He was an optimist and he was a good man, he believed, inherently believing that he could make a better world.

That perhaps was the strongest tie he had to Rachel. She was a Summers and like most of that line, she believed in sacrifice for the greater good. Hers were a people of heroes. Her father and mother, her uncles and aunts, her cousins, though in this time the only one yet born was a toddler. But even that toddler ran around dressed like Captain America, so it was there, it was definitely there. What that came with though, was a sense of responsibility that made poor decisions seem far worse than they were, made wrongdoings into evils, and evils into calamities, without allowing them excuse of fallibility. Impossible to overcome circumstances, such as brainwashing or mental enslavement, excuses that they could easily forgive in others mind you, were considered failures on their part and it took a great deal for them to allow themselves to be forgiven.

Rachel, like so many of her family, had been the victim of mental rape and abuse, and it weighed on her like Atlas holding the heavens. That's why Franklin, who had seen the world crumble under the weight of his father's guilt, had taken it upon himself to make sure that this girl that he had fallen in love with was given every chance to move past what had been done to her. She was so much more than she felt she deserved to be.

As she came around the corner, she'd find her smiling boyfriend looking as fresh and clean as a daisy, dressed in jeans and a long sleeved t-shirt, a bright smile on his face. "We could go to town," he said, in answer to her telepathic question, "or we could go to Paris, or Machu Picchu, or the moon, wherever you want. I'm a reality warper, remember? I'd say the sky's the limit, but, with me, there are no limits." He slipped his arms around her slender waist and said, "Or we can go be normal twenty-somethings and go have a nice dinner, a walk in the snow, and watch the stars come out until our noses get cold and pink and we need to come home and build a fire to warm ourselves up."

He pulled her close and looked into her eyes, "There's peace and quiet for the moment. It'll be good to enjoy it while we can."

Turning the corner, Rachel found herself looking at Franklin that showed no sign of having just become an impromptu builder and decorator. This school was probably one of the most damaged and repaired buildings in the history of the globe and despite its scars they all lay beneath the surface known only to those that had witnessed the events that happened within the school.

Being with Franklin was definitely an experience in seeing more of the world than anyone could possibly hope to see - he held reality at the tips of his fingers, he could be wherever he wanted, make whatever he needed or wanted. It was a power that came with a huge responsibility and one that Franklin seemed to hold impeccably. It was easy to take advantage of being able to go wherever they wanted, to be able to hold the stars in their hands and to see whatever they wanted, but Rachel did not want to hold the world in her fingertips, or at least she didn't always wish to.

As Franklin slipped his arms around her waist, she leant in and kissed him on the cheek, while Rachel wasn't the most 'feelsy' person on the globe, she was getting more accustomed to allowing her feelings to be on display. They were neither a weakness nor a hindrance in this time, in fact they were a strength and had always been, Franklin was the rock that Rachel had leaned on since they had first met.

There was always some pull about going to foreign climes, but at the moment Rachel was finding her feet as someone that truly lived in this time. They could go to anywhere on the globe whenever they wanted, but really how often could they actually get out into the world and act like people their own age? The school often had something going on that required their attention and despite the power swappages, there was nothing either of them could do about that until a more permanent answer could be found for the problem.

"Normal sounds better," Not that Rachel didn't want to see the world with Franklin, but just because they were powered it didn't mean that they always had to globe-trot or be out of this world, sometimes it was good to just be 'normal' or what the rest of the world assigned as normal. "What do you feel like eating?" There was so many more choices now than Rachel was used to and she really hadn't tried a lot of what was on offer in this timeline, so as far as she was concerned she was open to eating just about anything so long as it tasted good.

"We could take a walk into town and see what's there? Or we could go into a city," Which meant that Franklin would likely need to teleport them, but there was more choices in the city, "But I'm good with whatever you prefer to do," Afterall it would be his powers that got them there if they went into the city.
